IdeaPad G Series Forum Section?

Hello everyone!
I have some questions regarding my Lenovo G570 laptop, however I cannot see a section for the G series of IdeaPad laptops. I am beginning to think the name has been changed! Can someone please direct me to the suitable location where I can post my questions about the Lenovo G series IdeaPad
Thankyou
Apologies if I have overlooked it.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
In some markets it might be considered an IdeaPad but in most places (including the US) it belongs to Valueline/Essential series:- http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/bd-p/N_Series_Lenovo_3000
Hope this helps.

  • IdeaPad S series forum and support

Dear Lenovo, would it be possible to have a separate category for the IdeaPad S series under the Idea Systems menu? It's just that the S's seem to be very different from the U's and Y's; indeed, even the S10e seems to be somewhat different from the S10 in terms of recovery etc. - I'm wondering if the S10e's were just randomly configured!
Whilst I'm at it, a quick gripe about the S10/e support on the Lenovo site - try getting documentation such as a troubleshooting guide or a FAQ and you'll invariably draw a blank.  Apart from the parts list the only document seems to be the hardware guide (not even the user guide is available!). As a very happy owner of a T61p I'd anticipated good support, but I'm beginning to think that the IdeaPad S series owners are being given rather third class support! The S10/e is a sweet machine - please don't spoil it with lemon-flavoured support! Cheers.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but have you visited the enthusiasts' forum at http://www.s10lenovo.com?

  • Forum section for Arch-derived and "installation-assisted" distros?

Apparently there's a policy that posts regarding Archbang, Bridge Linux and other "installation-assisted" Arch distros will be moved to that purgatory of forum sections known as "Off Topic".
I'm wondering if a new forum section could be established to accommodate discussion of these distros.
For example, I think it's helpful for Arch users to know that there are ways to achieve a quick and painless Arch installation if you don't have time to go through the config yourself. I've been using Arch for seven years and have installed it many times, but recently I needed to install Arch in a hurry. Bridge Linux let me do just that, and I suspect Archbang would have, as well.
I think the Arch forum mods are trying to keep the forum focused on the essential Arch experience of installing from scratch, editing config files, etc. That's fine, but I suggest that a section be opened for installation-assisted Arch distros to accommodate Archbang, Bridge and other distros that yield an Arch system.
People who use these "installation-assisted" distros are running full-fledged Arch Linux, not another distro derived from Arch.
As things stand, it's almost as if you shouldn't expect support on the Arch forum if your spouse or a friend installed your system for you!
    Thanks.

As one of the moderators, allow me to chime in here.  First off:
dhave:  It was good trading emails with you earlier this week.  After we communicated, I saw that my colleague moved your post to off-topic.  Sorry, I did not have the opportunity to let them know you and I had communicated.  Regardless, off topic really is not purgatory -- that would be "Topics Going Nowhere" (Actually, I suppose that would be limbo in Dante's view)  The other side of Styx would be "Dustbin".  Some of the best discussions occur in off-topic
In general, I am pretty easy going and try not to interfere with healthy discussion.  We are, after all, a community.  Not everything needs to be Arch centric.  I am also fairly tolerant of questions that have clearly been asked and answered before; sometimes because new users don't know what they don't know.  I don't mind doing some hand holding.  Sadly, some folks never get with the program
Jason, Allan : good to see you both.  Hope you are having a good autumn down there.
As to other distributions, here is the thing.  These are the Arch Linux forums.  People who are researching problems here depend on these forums as a dedicated Arch resource.  The moderator team works to keep these forums on topic and prevent "contamination" from distributions that handle things differently than Arch and may cause confusion or may be plain old wrong with respect to Arch.
As such, a friendly discussion about Bridge Linux is harmless; whereas questions about Archbang (a fine distribution) on the Arch forums can be a direct cause of misinformation that creates problems for the users of both distributions.

  • What happened with AC series forum?

    Hi,
I cannot find AC series forum. It used to be under LAPTOPS, MINI-NOTEBOOK and TABLET -> Mini Notebook Series -> AC series.
Has it been moved? If yes, where is it now?
    Has it been deleted?
I'm an active AC100 user and this forum is sometimes helpful...
    BR,
    kociu

Aah! So there IS someone who seem to bother about the obvious. Welcome to the club, dear.
That thread got out of order since I posted my first post under the thread related to the new Folio 100 update for Flash. The update that's ,ore like a joke or that seems to goof up with a ridiculousness of such colossal proportions, that it doesnt pisses me anymore.
By now you must have figured that this brand new update actually fails to perform. I mean the Flash part. I wonder if there was any quality check done before releasing the bug infested update.
So now finally someone worries if the thread has been shifted? Well it hasnt. Its sad that no moderator or the authority realizes the meager need of respecting the freedom of speech and to never keep the threads out of order just because it candidly exposes the flaw.
    I was truly ashamed, Toshiba.
Damn, yet I love the beauty that is Folio 100. Please do something to fix it guys. At least try a little.

  • ThunderBolt Display forum section is available

Apple has just created a Support Communities forum section specifically for the 27" ThunderBolt Displays.  Any future questions regarding the ThunderBolt Displays should be posted over there instead of in this (Cinema Displays) forum section.

Right now, I'm working on the previous version of the display; the LED Display. I had a Thunderbolt Display -- ordered it the first day I could -- which worked flawlessly up until a mother nature issue (ironically, it was damaged by a nearby lightning strike). I bypassed replacing it with the same model -- this was August 2013, and I thought that surely a new Thunderbolt Display was about to be announced. The TB Display was originally released in 2011 and, with the pending release of the Mac Pro, surely Apple would release a new model/version.
    Nope.
We're now over 1000 days since the release of the Thunderbolt Display with no update in sight. It's still got USB2. Still got FW800 (good for many, I'm sure; I've had to hook up a legacy device once or twice).
To answer your question; it's reliable. Like I said, I'm working on the version released prior to the Thunderbolt Display, the LED Cinema Display. It's a little dimmer than I like but it still works w/o issue. My previous model (going two Apple Display purchases back), another Cinema Display, is still in use by a friend without problems. And my display before that -- the 30" Apple sold some time back -- is still being used by the friend who bought it.
Their product builds are top-notch, and they insist on the cream of the crop from their suppliers. Apple makes excellent displays. When they feel like making them.

  • Will Blu-ray be an option for Ideapad U series?

Considering an Ideapad U series, but want to have the option to go Blu-ray either now or relatively soon.  Does anyone know if the graphics will support it and if this will be an option?
    Thank you.
p.s.  I did ask the chat support on the Lenovo site the same question and they could not answer it.

    Can't really get you.
You ask for Blu-ray (which definately will be an option for models that have DVD-ROMs inside) but then you mean graphics? What are you exactly asking about? If you're asking if videocards are powerfull enough to handle 1080p H264, answer is positive - all new videocards have decoding options for that. Be sure - every model ending *30 (for example, U330) will handle HD-video without a whistle.
I'm not a native speaker and for that can take something wrong.

  • Where is the IdeaPad "G" series in this forum?

    Hi,
I'm looking for a sub forum for my new laptop, but I don't find it here, are you sure that the G series (I have an IdeaPad G510) is really a Lenovo laptop? or some fake?! It sure looks like it by the quality. Or this is the quality of your laptops ?! This is outrageous

  • Which LCD cable for Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (Series: 2959)

    Hi!
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S12 for three years now... and I am generally really happy with it
Since a few weeks, however, my display is not working properly anymore. Depending on the angle, certain colors change their appearance (white colours flicker blue-ish and dark colors show red-ish flickers). I have already stopped by a Laptop repair shop and the guy said that I need a new LCD cable and the hardware should be ok.
Does anybody know which exact cable I need? I have found three different cables on offer:
    50.4CI11.001
    50.4CI11.002
    50.4CI12.001
Is it possible to say only with my series number (2959) which of the three I need?

  • The AUR needs a forum section (rather than visa versa)

The AUR needs everyone working together to suceed.  We need the users to put their PKGBUILDs in, do their voting and get some feedback on the interface and processes from the users.
To do this we have the tur-users mailing list, which is great for contacting the TUs directly but maybe we need something more to get it going on this side of the community.
    Here are my proposals:
    Either:
    · Change the "Arch Packaging" section title to "AUR and Arch Packaging"
    · Add a new AUR sectionWhatever is choosen we then:
    · Move "AUR Package Requests" to the new location
    · add an AUR discussion and feedback board and move all the current AUR discussion thread there - headlined with a sticky linking to the tur-list and specifying what should be posted in the forums and what would be better related straight to the list - this reduces likelihood of people mailing the list for little reason.
    · add an AUR support forum - again headlined with a sticky to the AUR docs and any guidelines that get added to the wiki.  This will become the source of AUR FAQ for inclusion in the docs
Personally I'd like to see this happen ASAP.

These are not bad ideas, if you all feel that this will help better the current situation. Let's be honest guys, most anything is better than the current situation. I don't know about an AUR support forum, I was thinking about writing the docs myself, and probably will this coming weekend. Support for the AUR is intended to happen in the bugtracker, not the forums. You might add a sticky about that too, btw.
Another thing is that it might (no garauntee) actually get me to read the forums again, being that there is one board to come read, rather than parsing through all the other threads around here.

  • Ideapad U series questions...

First off, Hello! I've been looking to pick up an ultrabook recently and the Lenovo U series have caught my attention for being a great bang for the buck. My first question: Does anyone know when the U330 touch will go on sale here in the US? Second question: I've been reading a lot about wireless issues, is this something that should keep me from pickign up a U310/U410? Third question: For around $650 would you recommend me picking one of these up, or would you recommend me to pick up another ultrabook for a similar price?
    Thanks!

    Dear Customer
    Welcome in lenovo forums
First : the U330 is supposed to be released in US markets already , Please contact the below support to get much information regarding the availability :-
Second : Recently there is some of the Wifi issues with the U310/410 but as for U330 there is no such a related common issues
Finally : As for the price this is up to you , but being one of Lenovo customer that will be more than honor to us
Please let me know if there is anything else still needs to be clarified
    Thanks

  • I like to see a forum section deals with just residentual Verizons Fios customers. .

I don't see one yet . It would be nice see a forum that just deal with customers various q & amd matters with the various fios features and how they work etc. I know the FIOS triple play , several people I know that have it , several months and still only have tiny clue on how the features there are, even using ch helper 131 and other verizon help chsnnels, plus there are tech feature info they need to know and more

I have no idea what you mean with your questions. But besides that, you need to go to the FiOS TV Technical Assistance forum and post whatever your issue is there, hopefully more clearly than you have here (or even better, search on Favorites first before posting, or take a look at the first thread listed in the "Top Kudoed Posts" area for that forum).
This is not the correct forum for asking FiOS questions, this forum is for making suggestions about the Community or the forums in the Community (as the title of this forum says).

  • Are the Ideapad Series not compatible for upgradation to Win 7?

It's not listed in the compatible group list by Lenovo but Lenovo advises to run the Upgrade Advisor.

  • How can I Isolate a specific structure from a series of photos in sequence. (like one ring from a tree cut in a hundred sections)

I'm working with a series of images of the human body and I'm trying to isolate structures based on the image. Manually masking the structures frame by frame is the fall back plan but I'm searching for a more efficient and accurate way to separate out the data.
Imagine cutting a tree into a thousand slices and photographing each slice... the goal is to be able to isolate each individual ring separately throughout the series of sections.
The images are fully colored and quite large... something like 7860x4012 pix.

That's a tough call.  It all depends upon you original image.  The best bet is if your specimen samples have been stained to show the structure you want to isolate.  If so, you can look at the different color channels to see which channel brings out the detail that you want to isolate the best, then use that channel to make a selection.  Maybe make a duplicate of that channel and increase the contrast using curves or apply it to itself using multiply blend mode.

  • New DVR Scheduler Bugs: Priority Settings No Longer Working, Scrolling Series Schedules is Flakey

    Hi,
After this last HD DVR update, I have two new problems:
    1) I can no longer set the priority of most of my series schedules. I have about 100 series schedule entries, which the DVR update probably wasn't tested for.
Now when I try to set a series priority, it LOOKS like it worked, but if I get out of DVR options and go back into Manage Recordings, 90% of the time I find that the series priority is either unchanged, or (even worse) has bounced up to some unexpected random priority - Thus, I have to search the series list  to find it - Then I cannot move it back to where it's supposed to be!
It seems that only moving a series priority a little bit will sometimes work, but moving the series from near the top of the list to near the bottom (or vice-versa) doesn't work at all, even though it may appear like it worked until the list is refreshed (either by paging up and down the list a few times, or by exiting the DVR manager and going back in).
    2) The scrolling is messed up now in the series schedule manager - When setting Priority, as I scrool up or down from the middle of the list using the arrow or Page buttons,  the list will end unexpectedly, making it impossible to actually drag the series to the bottom or top of the list. Then if you deposit the series at the "end" of the list, suddenly the rest of the list will then magically appear (of course, the series schedule you deposited there will no longer be where you deposited it - See problem #1). Obviously the list is running out of buffer space, so the next part of the list isn't being loaded while you're in the process of changing a series priority..
Scrolling is also messed up just scrolling through the list without changing priority: Scrolling through my series schedules USED to be very FAST and painless using the Page (Channel) up/down button, I could scroll from top to bottom of my 100 series schedules in a matter of like 5 seconds. NOW, it takes forever and is a real pain to scroll from top to bottom, because the scrolling pauses on just about every other page - As though it ran out of buffer space and is having trouble loading the next buffer.
I have a lot of series schedule entries so all the First-run Programs are at the top of the priority list, then all the re-runs are in the bottom half of the list. That's the only way I have found to prevent Re-Runs from hijacking new programs, since there's no DVR option to prevent re-runs from inteferring with new episodes (BTW, in order for this to work, the First-Run schedule must be created first. Then a duplicate First-Run and Reruns schedule must be created - Creating them in reverse order will throw a "Duplicate" error message).
The DVR software has always been buggy and feature-depribed, but this is rediculous - To think the programming team didn't even test the scrolling and priority of series schedules is as bad as the ObamaCare website, and that's setting a very low bar! You HAVE to test EVERYTHING when you release new updates, even if the programmers say it won't affect anything else, because from my experience programmers develop tunnel vision (been there, done that myself), and if you have more than one person on the programming team, neither programmer will communicate their changes to anyone else (been there, done that too).

I have the identical problem after the recent software upgrade which VERIZON did to my DVR.
In addition, I have "Manual Series" listed under the "Manage Series Recordings" section of my DVR for about 10 of the tv shows that I have tagged to be recorded weekly. Several others have reported this seemingly related problem to this forum.
I've tried twice to report the latter problem to VERIZON's technical support staff, but met with indifference in the first attempt (a guy recommended that I replace my DVR with a new one - an utterly ridiculous suggestion), and in my second attempt I got a somewhat helpful lady who couldn't correct this glitch and was unaware of others having same problem but promised to send it up the flagpole to higher level tech folks (best action that I realistically could get).
As I told VERIZON's techies, I likely was not the only customer experiencing these problems - and your and others postings to this forum confirm my initial hunch.  VERIZON leaves a lot to be desired in the testing of their software "upgrades".
