IdeaPad S206 Display dark

Hi,
I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad S206 and it worked for like 2-3 months with Windows 8 und Lubuntu 12.10 but since yesterday I got a problem with my display.
The Display stays dark, no matter if plugged in or out, I tried the Fn-Keys and it won't get brighter. (And I'm not talking about a little bit dark like it's dimmed, it's extremly dark like it doesn't shine anymore at all...)
I can barely see anything on it, only if I have light in the background I can see a little bit of it.
The Netbook itself is still working, I can still get into Windows 8 and Lubuntu 12.10 , but I just can't see anything.

Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.
From the issue that you have described, there's a big possibility that either the LCD cable or LCD screen itself (LED type) might have gotten defective and you will need to contact lenovo for service.

Ideapad s206 Screen Issue - Lid Detection?

I'm having problems with an IdeaPad s206
The notebook is working through a HDMI monitor but the screen on the laptop won't come on.
I've bought a replacement and changed it and that isn't working.
Is there anything I could try? Is there a lid close sensor on the idea pad anywhere that could be faulty?

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with display not working in your Lenovo S206 laptop.
As you have mentioned that the display works in external monitor but not in the laptop, please try to check the setting press “function and f10 key together” and select computer only option and check for the issue.

Ideapad S206: Blue screen crashes and weird noise

Hi guys,
Since Xmas I have had an Ideapad S206. I'm having problems with it and am not sure what is causing them.
The machine frequently crashes - I've seen the Blue Screen of Death at least once a week, sometimes several times a day. I'm never doing much with the machine - just online, and with a few programs open (word processing mainly) and iTunes.
Sometimes, it crashes without me doing anything at all - I leave the room, come back 5 minutes later and tells me there has been a blue screen crash.
Several times, when the blue screen comes up, it makes a terrible noise like a pneumatic drill/piledriver. I've never heard a laptop make a noise like it.
Can anyone advise what the problem is? Should I contact Lenovo and try and send the machine back for a refund? (It's over its 30 day warranty.)

Ideapad s12 display problem

Hi,
i suddenly have problem with the display. Its gone very dark and only sometimes flickers up to the normal brightness. I cant get it bright anymore.
Its only a year old.
Any idea what can be done?

there's bios update available for s12 ( for via model ), please check your bios version and also graphic card driver is up to date.

Display dark after bootcamp?

After I installed the Apple support drivers the screen display was dark, I downloaded the latest nvydia drivers and the screen display is what you would expect, trouble is when I reboot the display goes dark again.
Its almost like the updates are reversed?
Also the track pad is a little sensitive any way to make a little less sensitive (it a bit quick up and down)
Any ideas gents?

Did you order your MB with the 4GB of RAM or did you put it in yourself? I've read of RAM problems causing your MB to not wake from sleep. If you added the RAM yourself, try putting the original RAM back in and see if you get the same result. -GDF

Macbook Display Darker In Corners

I dont know if I am just being paranoid but I have started noticing that my 4 month old 2GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook display is slightly dark at the bottom two corners. Usually i dont notice it but at times when I see a movie in widescreen, the two dark spots become visible on the black border. Is that normal to do you think Apple will change the display? Its not a major problem but was wondering why it happens. This is my 3rd macbook as one was DOA in a week, other got screwed after I dropped coke on my screen (dont ask). Hence when it comes to Macbook, I am very paranoid

I always keep my display with a completely black background.
There's a noticeable gradation from the bottom to top of my screen as it gets slightly lighter. I see no evidence of differences at the corners. I tilted up, down, and sideways, but even the "gradation" effect is even. But it's an effect noted in a minority of models - particularly the widescreen portables.

0A33944 Port replicator for Ideapad S206

I have recently bought a S206 ideapad computer fitted with Windows 8 and am pretty happy with it.
I want to use a port replicator to provide quick access for mouse, keyboard and monitor. Is Lenova item 0A33944 suitable? In particular it seems to fit my requirements but web information only states it works with Windows 7.

IdeaPad U430p Display funktioniert nach Anschluss an Monitor nicht mehr

Hallo liebe Lenovo-Community,
ich hoffe ihr könnt mir bei meinem Problem behilflich sein.
Mein Problem ist folgendes:
Wenn ich das Ideapad an einen externen Monitor anschließen und danach wieder abschließe, funktioniert das Display des IdeaPads nicht mehr richtig. Das heißt konkret, dass das Display beleuchtet ist aber komplett schwarz ist. Erst wenn ich das Notebook im abgesichterten Modus neustarte funktioniert das Display wieder. Den Treiber der Graka habe ich aktualisiert.

Also normal ist es definitiv nicht!
Das Display sollte eigentlich nach drücken der Funktionstaste umswitchen, spätestens aber nach Neustart des Gerätes.
Deinstalliere doch einmal den Grafik-Treiber, starte das System neu und installiere dann den ursprünglichen Grafik-Treiber.
Sollte das Problem weiterhin vorhanden sein, kontaktiere einmal unseren Technischen-Support diesbezüglich:

I have a problem with my Notebook Lenovo IdeaPad G770 display

The colors are too pale..Is there an option to set the contrast of the display? Anyway the colors look terrible..I have installed the Intel X86 and Amd Radeon(for Windows 7 32 bit) drivers that came on the CD-Rom but no effect on screen colors(just on the resolution )..I set the brightness level (5 lines) but still no effect (but is very disturbing to the eye)....
It's my first IdeaPad notebook...

Half display darker after installation last osx update

Hello,
After installing the last update for osx (10.8.3), the computer did a reboot , and right after that, the left side od the display is mauch more darrker than the right side.
Anyone can help me with that please. I dont know how to contact with a apple support technique. can any body help me please??

Why is my display dark since adobe flash player update

Hey all, since being prompted to update my flash player whilst trying to watch a video on youtube recently my display is very dark. this isn't just in safari but also google chrome. watching videos on youtube now is almost impossible and is getting to be quite irritable. Even my screensaver is considerably darker. I've searched online and noticed some people are having similar issues with adobe creative cloud but this is something I do not have installed. Any help regarding this matter or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Could you try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
With Firefox fully closed, you can hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Any difference?
If Firefox is visible, go ahead and disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration as a workaround for a possible graphics card driver software incompatibility.
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
That will be in effect the next time you exit and start Firefox back up.

Display dark with projector

I've been using a projector to watch TV and movies from my MacBook for over 6 months with no problems. Yesterday, I tried watching a show like I always do, and when I dragged the screen to the projector it got really dark. The display on my screen is normal. I know it isn't the projector bulb, because when my boyfriend hooks up his PC is displays just fine. Any ideas as to what is happening? Is there a way to change the display settings on my MacBook to resolve this? Thanks!

Yes, in Displays Preferences you can run a color calibration. One of the calibration steps is for changing gamma. Try a lower gamma, like 1.8 instead of 2.2.

Tecra 8100 , Display dark

Hi Folks,
the Display of my Tecra 8100 goes after 10 Minutes of working, dark. Its not the Screensaver,absolutly ! Cause I hear the sound of my Games continously.
Sometimes, if I reboot the Display comes back,or If I push the FN + F5 Keyboard combination, but not always.
Can somebody tell me what wrong with my machine ?
Is a repair expensive ? Questions,Questions...

Ideapad u410 display and suspend problem

Hello,
My Problem is, that when I close the lid of my ideapad u410 it suspends, but when I open it again it sometimes works as expected, but most of the times the screen is displaced. (Everything is moved about 500 pixels to the right and a bit upwards too.)
For now I have set my laptop to completely shutdown when I close the lid, which works fine, but I would really prefer to get proper suspend working.
I also experienced this displacement once or twice when booting the laptop normally.

Screen 0: minimum 1368 x 768, current 1368 x 768, maximum 1368 x 768
It's weird because the actual resolution of my screen is 1366x768, and I noticed that when I move my mouse to the left or right border of the display, the screen actually moves these 2 pixels to the left or the right.
This might be a whole other problem, but they could be connected too, I guess.

I am currently using the nouveau driver.
Another problem I noticed, that might or might not be connected to the first two, is that I can't change my tty.
When I press ctrl+alt+Fx the screen just goes blank and I can't even change back to my previous session.
(Usually to get the function keys on an Ideapad u410 it is necessary to press the Fn key, but I changed that bios setting.)
If further information would be helpful, tell me what you would like to know.

Lenovo Ideapad U410: Display not working after sleep and/or restart

Hello all,
I am recently having some inconsistent display issues with my Lenovo U410 laptop i7 1TB with a Windows 8 PRO upgrade (came with windows 7).
When I press the Power Button on my laptop to put it to sleep, the Screen turns black as if it is off, but the Power & Battery LEDs on the front of the laptop remain on, as well as the LED on the power button. However, when I try to wake my laptop, there is no response on the screen (remaining black as if it is off). The internal fan is running, however I receive no feedback when "blindly" trying to input my password.
I've tried to turn the power off and back on to no avail. I've also removed the power source and held the power button for a couple of seconds and that did not solve the issue either. I've tried connecting the laptop to a screen via HDMI (since there is no other AV port on the device), but there was no signal being sent through.
This is an inconsistent issue that began yesterday 6/11/2013. When the laptop is left alone for a little and is turned on again, the display works, but after closing the lid (sleep) or pressing the button, the display fails to turn on upon awakening.
In most recent circumstances, Today (6/12/2013) I was installing a Windows update that required my computer to restart. When the update configured perfectly BEFORE it was restarting, but AFTER the restart, my internal fan began to work, but the display was not on.
Does anybody or Tech support know what may cause this inconsistent behavior? or know any solutions to this issue?

I am facing similar problem - post sleep & sometimes on touchpad event - the screen gets stuck & a strange array of gray screen comes or the existing screen's colors get distorted & the laptop gets stuck.
model - Lenovo U410; 64 Bit; Windows 7 Home basic;, Intel core i5 processor
I have upgraded display drivers but that hasn't changed anything. Any help is appreciated.
