Ideapad u330p - Left hot corners in Windows 8 not detected/ appearing

As mentioned above, the left hot corners do not appear (I have tried switching both "application switching" buttons on in Chnage PC Settings --> General but nothing ever happens.
Please help, thanks!

hi farhanology,
Welcome to the Forums.
Can you try to:
1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse and ynder the Mouse Settings, there should be an option (depending on your Touchpad model if it's ELAN or Synaptics) to enable/disable the Touchpad Gestures.
For Synaptics:
For ELAN:
2. If the above settings doesn't work, check this trick on how to enable the hot corners via the registry.
Hope this helps

  • Surface Pro 3 / "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter"

    Hi all,
I've been running the Windows 10 Technical Preview (9926) on my Surface Pro 3 successfully
since January. Unfortunately, I lost all internet connectivity today.
The problem started when I noticed the type cover wasn't working (pressing keys on the type
cover wasn't registering any typing on my screen) and my USB mouse wasn't working either. I tried removing and reattaching the type keyboard but this didn't fix the issue. I had to use the accessibility on-screen keyboard to sign into Windows (thankfully touch
was still working). Once I signed in, I still didn't have typing or cursor ability, so I decided to restart the computer.
Then it got worse. I noticed the Surface Pro 3 was stuck on "restarting" and wouldn't
actually restart. Since it wasn't responding, I held down the power button for about 10 seconds until it turned off. When I turned it back on, the type cover and mouse started working again.
Unfortunately, this is when the WIFI problems began. I had WIFI for a few seconds, and then
I lost internet. I disconnected/reconnected but there was a yellow triangle telling me there was some sort of problem. So I restarted the Surface Pro 3.
When it came back on, there were suddenly NO connections available at all. Opening the "Network
& Internet" settings page gave me the message "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter". And here I am, without internet on my Surface Pro 3, borrowing my friend's computer so I can type this message (he is also running
Windows 10 build 9926 on his laptop and is able to connect to my WIFI with no problems, whereas my Surface Pro 3 cannot even detect any networks). I have not dropped or damaged the SP3 in any way, and there have been no storms or power outages or anything
of that sort. Any ideas what could have happened to the WIFI on my Surface Pro 3?
    Thanks for your help...
    Ethan

    Hi Ethan,
Currently, there are a few compatibility issue between the current hardware and Windows 10 Technical Preview (9926 build), this is mostly related to driver compatibility issue.
I suggest you download the latest network adapter driver package to install, when it is finished, check if it appears under Device Manager.
Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 2, and Surface Pro firmware and driver packs

You can check if you can install the latest firmware package for your device.

  • Windows did not detect any networking hardware, Windows 7, New Hard Drive

Message "Windows did not detect any networking hardware"
    Satellite P505 S8980 Windows 7 Home Premium.
I replaced the Toshiba 500 GB HD with 500 GB Seagate.
Device Manager icon for any device with yellow exclamation mark,
Click on "Update Driver".  Lan eNet details as follows:
    Antheo - R8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
Browse to the folder where the setup program has the driver...
Message: "The best driver software is already installed."
(But the yellow exclamation mark still harasses me.)
--- Go to "Setup new connection" ---
    "Choose a connection option"
Click on "Connect to the Internet"
Response: "Windows did not detect networking hardware"
As near as I can tell, that translates from error 0x8E5E0247
I have this same error on other yellow exclamation marks respective of what kind of device it is.
=> To test my sanity, I put the old hard drive (same size) back in and except for the impact of slowness due to error retries, everything works okay.
    Note:
Same issue (hardware not detected) for Video adapter and Audio.
I bought new USB Wireless adapter to test, and the driver installed but not activated because "not digitally signed", and that same issue fits all the above hardware.  I down loaded them from Toshiba, and they are confirmed installed, but not accepted with digitally signed.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled with same results.
    Solved!

I'm discovering I am not as well as I thought... running on the  AF hard drive which was built with a copy drive from old format drive which was the product of system recovery disc set.
Review for context: Advanced Function HDD
Scenario that exposes harm caused by cloning data from 4K blocks drive to 512 bytes blocked drive (AF)
Toshiba supplied Windows-7 System Restore Discs: to factory state
Then I built the Windows-7 Repair  Disc... used later.
Hard drive was replaced when it caused SMART warning at every system boot.
Acronis was only utility that quickly detected problem (3 sectors had permanent read errors.) Active@Disk Image and Power Quest Drive Image (Ghost) did not detect the issue.
I tried Seagate 500 GB and Western digital 500 GB HDD drives as copy target.
That new drive would not boot: "Required source not found"
Booted My newly created Windows-7 repair disc, and used to to fix startup.
    See images.
That worked and then the ST9500423AS disc booted.
Now... next day I discovered Window Update is not working.
    I get message:
Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You need to restart your computer.
I ran Microsoft Fixit for updates.  It says it fixed two items.
    I still have the problem.
    The service shows "started"
Control Panel/ ACTION Center/ Maintenance/ Check for Updates
     "No action needed"
"Windows Update does not require any action"
    I checked  Update History...
... It is empty, else window is vacant... blank.
Soooo..... for a sanity check, I swap out hard drive; go back to the old format (which is the one I copied).
It works!  7 updates to install, including SP1... but I did NOT install them.
Switch back to the AF drive... Update doesn't work. I am broke again.
Is this another strange problem caused by the Advance Format issue?
    What to do?
By the way... I did install an Intel storage Matrix driver  update, but I do not have RAID chip, so that driver is not for me... unless I missed out on something.

  • Hot Corners: Start Screen Saver not working

I have enabled two Hot Corners with the Start Screen Saver option, but when I mouse over to the corner, nothing happens. Console logs show nothing, so it is like it is not even being triggered. If I do a Screen Saver Preview inside System Preferences, it launches fine. If I launch it from the terminal, it also works fine ( sudo open -a /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Versions/A/Resources/ScreenSav erEngine.app). My other Hot Corners Desktop and Notification Center work fine.  The only unique thing hardware wise is that I have an additional monitor attached to my iMac via Dual-Link DVI.
Any ideas before I submit it as a bug?

  • Thinkpad Edge S430 - Windows does not detect external display connected via HDMI

On a Thinkpad S430 with HD4000 integrated graphics, an external display connected via a HDMI cable is not detected at all when using Windows. The system is fully updated as of the time of posting this message, both via the Lenovo Update tool as well as Windows update.
The Intel driver version is 8.15.10.2696. It appears that this is the latest version, since it does not offer an update when I try to auto-update it via Device Manager.
NB: I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.4.0 on the same machine, and the external display works perfectly fine with this software configuration.
Hence I think that it's very likely that this is a Windows-specific driver issue.
Would Lenovo happen to have a driver update in the works? Alternatively, I will be thankful for any suggestions about possible resolution of this problem.

  • Access Connections Windows 7 Not detecting port

hey everyone, been having this issue where a windows 7 machine does not detect a local lan port when docked in thus not switching off wireless and onto the LAN. I've been running all of the other XP machines and it appears that they detect and ask which location they are. All of the machines don't have gateways on them. is there a way to get the windows 7 machines to detect and switch over without using a gateway?

  • T410 running Windows 7 not detecting HP LP3065 connected with DisplayPort to DVI Dual-Link

I am running Windows 7 on a Thinkpad T410.  I have an HP LP3065 monitor connected to it using an Accell DisplayPort to DVI Dual-Link adapter.  Windows 7 does not detect the monitor.  The NVIDIA drivers are up to date and I have tried powering the Accell adaptor with multiple USB ports.  I do not know if there is a problem with the adaptor or if Windows 7 is just unable to see the monitor with this combination.
Could someone please let me know how I can diagnose this?  Thank you in advance.

  • Windows 7 Not Detecting Nvidia Card. Gt70 670MX GPU.

So I downgraded from windows 8 to windows 7 and have recently discovered my computer is using the Intel HD 4000 instead of the correct Nvidia 670MX. When I disable the Intel Hd the system restarts and displays stuff but the nvidia program says it can not detect an nvidia gpu. When I re enable, the nvidia driver detects the gpu but does not use it (directx diag shows the intel hd 4000). Any help would be greatly appreciated because I would hate to have to reformat back to windows 8.

Dxdiag will not use the NVidia card. Ignore it, as it's stupid to rely on it for anything.
You can't use the NVidia card 100% of the time. You need to use the Intel HD4000 when you're not gaming, as that's what it's meant for with Optimus.
Sometimes you need to make sure that it is switching to the NVidia card when you need it for a game or for whatever it is you're doing that you need it. This usually involves making a custom profile within the NVidia control panel. I have not played a game yet where I did NOT have to add it. I'd add it anyway, just to be sure that it's working correctly. Once you add the game, and tell it to use the NVidia high performance adapter (instead of the Intel integrated adapter), it should work just fine and hopefully increase your FPS.

  • Windows does not detect Base Station

    Hello,
I have a Laptop on XP that will not detect a base station. I have run AirPort assistant and Administrative Assistant, but it will not show up? How do I get it to detect the base unit on AirPort Express?

It will say that if you are not connected to a network.
Your laptop should be able to see the wireless network even if it is not connected to it from the wireless icon in the system tray.

  • Hot corners for screensaver suddenly not working

I haven't changed anything lately and just today my designated hot corner will not start my screensaver as it usually does. Anything that I can do to remedy this?

I had this very problem, however I found the issue was a bad widget in dashboard. When the widget (in this case a video of an aquarium) would restart playing it would turn off the screen saver. So try deleting some of your dashboard widgets and see if this corrects the problem.

  • Windows xp not detecting airport

I've tried a lot of different things to get my Airport Express to work with this PC (Piece of Crap) running Windows XP.  It's like pulling teeth to get these two devices to work together!  I'm no newby to these technical issues, either.  I am very technically inclined, as a matter of fact.  I used to use this Airport Express with a Mac Mini.  Since my Mac Mini is currently inaccessible, I am having to use this old HP Pavilion.  While the Airport unit was being used on my Mac, I did a firmware update to the latest version.  I think it's still the latest version (late 2011?).  Since Windows XP can only run a version of Airport Utility no later than v5.5.3, could the firmware update be causing so many of my woes?  Even when I use an earlier version of Airport Utility, like v4.1, the Airport Express unit shows up, but I can't set it up!  I get a -4 error.  Version 5.5.3 is unpredictable, but it is currently not even detecting the AE.  When it does, I sometimes have to run a script I found elsewhere on the Internet that helps me to log on to it.  If it wasn't for that Microsoft script, all I would see is an Error -6753 or something.  Thus, if I could just get the silly AE to be detected by the v5.5.3 Airport Utility on my stupid XP machine, I could get everything to play nice.  Is there anything else I can try to get these two devices to cooperate?  Is there any way to revert firmware, or is there any need to?  I've spent days working with this problem!
By the way, I have no wireless Internet card in my PC, so I am trying to access the Internet wirelessly using the Airport Express via an Ethernet cable.  That is to say: the AE is handling the wireless transceiving; it is connected to my PC with an ethernet cable; and I need to set the AE up to join a network.  It has been reset to factory defaults many times, and that's the state it is in now.

I do not have a PC here running XP to test, but if I did I would do the following:
    1) Turn off the Windows Firewall in the Control Panel
    2) Temporarily disable the anti-virus software
    3) Perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Express
    4) Connect the Express using Ethernet, open AirPort Utility to see if it will connect to the Express
    5) If still no luck, in AirPort Utility, click on the File menu in the upper left corner of the screen and select Configure Other. Enter 10.0.1.1 for the IP address and "public" (without the quotes) as the password
If still no luck, the HP is likely running some other applications that may be interfering with the connection.  I assume that the AirPort Express is not defective and the Ethernet port on the PC is operational.
