Ideapad U410 Bubbled / warped keyboard casing above power jack

Hi
I noticed yesterday that a bubble has appeared on the casing of the keyboard directly above where the power jack is.
It doesn't appear to get hot here, but I'm wondering if it has overheated somehow and caused the case to bubble up and warp. I've had the laptop for less than 2 months. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Why should I have to jump through so many hoops, and stress myself for something I paid hundreds of dollars for - and that too, for a branded product that's supposed to guarantee defects of this nature? I honestly don't think you read my post in its entirety. I MIGHT have pictures of the broken DC plug pin lying around somewhere in my phone; but even if I don't, that's a $30 repair job, which I would willingly pay. My problem is their insistence that the entire motherboard is damaged, unusable, and in need of replacement for a whopping US$ 200 (which is a big favour for me, apparently - down from US$ 310... I really don't care, I shouldn't be subjected to this at all in the first place). I DON'T EVEN WANT IT TO BE REPLACED. I like the old motherboard JUST THE WAY IT IS. IT'S FINE. I gave it to Acer to fix the DC plug! And the "damage" from the liquid is NEGLIGIBLE - even the person at the Acer service center said a small amount of liquid spill is FINE, and that's AFTER I described to him MYSELF the French Vanilla incident.

  • What Caused The Warped/Twisted Casing Above CD Drive?

So I've had my 15in Macbook Pro for just over 7 months. It's my pride and joy and I have a habit of treating it like spun sugar. To put it bluntly I'm paranoid about something happening to it like being dropped, falling off the table, usual worries.
What I wasn't expecting to see when I took it out of it's case this morning was to see a section of the casing sticking out and the CD drive unable to work (it ejected the disc I had in thankfully but the 'auto-pull' won't take if you try to insert one).
I'm getting ahead of myself though. So let me give a bit of 'history' so to speak. Usually this machine is kept on an iCurve and hooked up to a wireless keyboard and mouse. When it's taken out of the house it's carried in a proper laptop case, it's never been dropped or clipped on anything or anything like that.
Yesterday I took it to work (I'm a freelance designer) again it was put in a case, nothing happened and last night it stayed in its bag. So there was no 'event' that could have caused damage and I'm worried that the case has somehow twisted. Is this a problem that occurs with the Pros? If so, is it covered by my Apple warranty (as the damage was NOT caused through negligence) or am I better off taking it back to the store I bought it from and seeing if they will replace the machine or.. something?
I've included an image of the 'damage' and you can just see on the corner that the 'trim' seems to be twisted too as well as the part sticking out. I would really, really appreciate some advice as to whether this is something that happens a lot.

    Update:
So I took my computer back to the PC World store I bought it from and the response was akin to 'oh God it's a MAC?! What do we DO?!?'
They did however give me a number who in turn told me call Apple Care who in turn told me to take my computer to our nearest Mac re-seller. Took it in, showed them and they think it's heat damage. It'll take a few weeks to sort but at least it's getting sorted and under warranty too...

  • Alt codes on ideapad u410

How do I do alt codes on the ideapad u410?

    Thanks, ishaan.
I hadn't seen your post, nor the knowledgebase article.
It works on my Yoga13, yet it's a little awkward to hold down the Alt key on the physical keyboard while tapping the on-screen keypad's numbers to achieve special characters... unless I'm missing some kind of an "Alt lock" function for the on-screen keyboard. In any case, it's certainly better than no capability at all.
    Cheers.

    Hi SreeArjun,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are unable to boot the system in your Lenovo U410 laptop.
Remove the hard drive and try to boot the system into BIOS and check if any error occurs? Also insert the hard drive and check what happens after installing the HDD.
     Best regards,

  • Lenovo Ideapad U410 scrolling down with a grey screen

    HI,
I just recently purchased the Lenovo Ideapad U410 and sometimes when I try to scroll down with both fingers, a grey line and background bar starts to come down and encompass the whole screen, rendering the screen and all my apps useless. And then on the right side, it shows the time and date squished togetherand I can't seem to get out of it unless I go back to the start and then open the desktop again.
Why is it doing this and is there a way to stop it because when it scrolls all the way down, the laptop won't work and if I don't touch the touchpad, bubbles start forming forming as if it's a screen saver.
    Thanks

It sounds like your hard drive is failing or has failed. It cannot repair the disk and is suggesting you back up and format the drive. Do you already have a backup?

  • Is my laptop charger broken or is there something wrong with my laptop (ideapad U410)?

I've had my ideaPad U410 for about a year and a few months (august 2012) and it has been fine. Recently, whenever I plug in my charger in the bottom right notification tray, it doesn't show that my laptop is charging. I tried multiple times and it doesn't work. Is there something wrong? What should I do?
Where can I get a replacement if it is indeed my charger that is broken?
    Thank you

If you can run the laptop on the battery alone then it is more than likely still being charged by the charger when the machine is plugged in.  If you know someone with a voltmeter you could have them check to be sure that the charger is outputing the correct voltage.
If the battery is still being charged, what I would do is uninstall and reinstall the Lenovo Power Management software.  That should correct the icon probem you are experiencing.  The Power Management software can be downloaded from Lenovo's download page at the link below........

  • T410 won't boot, blank screen and keyboard unresponsive at power up.

Hi, my Lenovo T410 laptop won't start. I hit the power button and it looks like it's about to boot up. The thinklight blinks on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock button blinks on, then nothing. No display, and keyboard is unresponsive. Power light remains on; if I leave it a while the fan comes on. I can turn the machine off using the power button, but the problem remains next time I switch it on.
I've tried removing power and battery, pressing power button 10 times then holding power for 30 secs, before replacing power and battery, but nothing happens. I've tried using a different keyboard. I've tried plugging in an external monitor. No change.
This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have a hunch that it went into hybernation mode, perhaps, and that it disrupted some important function which it was unable to complete. Not sure though. Any help gratefully received.
    Many thanks,
    Pete

    Hi, Fn+F7 didn't do anything.
So I took out the HDD and both RAM modules, including the one under the keyboard. At power on it beeped as follows: 1 beep, followed by 2 series of 3 beeps, followed by 1 beep.
I replace the HDD and one ram module under the keyboard leaving the other one out - this didn't change anything; I then switched up the RAM modules - again, no change. Does this mean the motherboard and processor are OK? What could the problem possibly be in this case? Very mysterious!
Incidentally, I should perhaps have mentioned that I kept the unit in an unheated room and it did get very cold there a few days ago, which coincides with when the booting problem first appeared.

  • Ideapad U410 not working in Normal Mode

    Hi,
My Lenovo Ideapad U410 has suddenly stopped working in normal mode. If I need to open a link or an important document, I open it in a safe mode.
Has anyone faced a similar kind of issue? I don't want to format the system as i would first like to know the root cause. The laptop is within a warranty period however Ideapads don't have an international warramty i guess.
    Any help would be appreciable.
    Thanks,

This is cause by some conflict/defective in the installed drivers. Try doing the procedure describe in this link. It also described on how to determine which is causing the problem.

  • Lenovo Ideapad U410: part of screen is white

I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410 and the left part of my screen is uniformly white after turning on the laptop. It's a rectangle about 1 inch long, from top of the screen to the bottom.
I got this suddenly pretty much a month after buying the laptop (it appeared suddenly and I didn't do anything to cause it), and then the area of the white rectangle got bigger after I mistakenly dropped my laptop yesterday.
Would buying a new screen and installing it fix this, or could the problems be more besides the screen?
And is this covered by limited warranty?
    Thanks.

    Hi Dsav6,
As per your concern, I would suggest you to please re-install the graphics driver of your system from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT073650
Afterwards, please restart the system and check if the issue still persists then it needs a personal assistance and it will be covered under warranty.
    Regards,
    Sameer

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to power up?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to power up my notebook until I get the internal keypad fixed?

    Hello,
No I don't believe there is.

  • Ideapad U410 no main hard drive, won't turn on after updates.

    Hi,
I just imported an Ideapad u410 from the US to the UK. It turned on fine, I started noticing the wifi proglem everyone else are having. No big deal, got a usb wifi adapter laying around I can use. Then I noticed that the hard drive (C, no other harddrive visible) was rediculously small (20-30 some GB, I forgot the exact figure) with almost all of it's space used. I figured this was a partition for the OS and that for whatever reason the rest of the drive wasn't showing. I noticed the windows update icon showing on the shutdown button and figured perhaps setup wasnt complete so I pressed restart. It kept restarting, downloading more updates and restarting, I walked away to have dinner when it proclaimed it would now install update 1 of 96. When I came back the laptop was off. I turned it on to be met by an endless cycle of BSOD during startup followed by a failed startup repair... I guess there wasn't enough space on the C drive for the windows update. What do I do now?

What os do you have? The main problem is the one key recovery, so if not interested it should be similar to the ordinary installation if there are no cache ssd installed.

  • Ideapad U410 windows 8. one button recovery

    HI,
I've a IdeaPad U410 that ships with Win 7 and a cool little feature called one button recovery.
The idea is that when the pc is off, you can hit this button and invoke the recovery partition to reload win 7.
Having update the PC to Win 8, I would liek to setup the same operation but with win 8.
Has anyone been succesful with this, how'd you do it?
    I see to steps:
Setup a Win 8 Recovery partition, which looks harder than it sounds.
Tell the pc to look at it for the one click recovery.
Over to the Lenovo masses, your thoughts are most welcome.
    Stan

    Hi Stan,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to inform you that after upgrading the OS (Operating System) from Windows 7 to Windows 8, OKR (One Key Recovery) partition will lose its path with the Software and cannot create the recovery partition for Windows 8 and OKR button will not work as expected.
Do post us back for further queries.
    Best Regards

  • Hey, where is there Puppet Warp keyboard shortcut?

There are plenty, I mean, plenty of keyboard shortcuts in Ps CS5/CS6 but, where is the Puppet Warp keyboard-shortcut?? It doesn't seem to exist... At least, I can't find it nor can I create a Puppet Warp custom keyboard-shortcut, as well. What gives Adobe???

Hi, Photomagneto! Welcome to the forums.
Like you mentioned, there are a TON of keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop, which makes it very difficult to assign new features a shortcut. However, there is a nice feature that allows you to create your own!
Under the Edit menu, you'll find Keyboard Shortcuts at the bottom. Once you're in there, you can find the Puppet Warp feature under the Edit submenu, and you can assign it a shortcut.
    I hope this helps!

  • Schlechte Garantieabwicklung - IdeaPad U410

Hallo.

Kostenpunkt: 124,70€ 15,00€ Backcover, 15,00€ LCD Bezel???
Sowas nennt man ABZOCKE
