IdeaPad U430 touch turns itself on after shut down

Hello,
My laptop keeps turning itself on.  If it is NOT plugged in, it reboots itself immediately after shutting down (10 seconds).  If I leave it plugged in, it reboots itself overnight, or if I unplug the charger (while it is turned off).
It is not related to any wake timers (disabled), I even completely reset my computer and wiped all my files - no luck, still occurs.  I tried downloading a new BIOS but it failed to install.  I tried updating other drivers, but most of mine are newer than what is available for download on the support site.
I ran a system scan and there were no corrupt files, no viruses or malware detected (McAfee, Windows Safety Scanner, and Webroot).
I think this is a firmware issue.  I disabled AOAC, and still had the issue.  Could it be a hardware issue?  My PlLenovo is about 7 months old.
Please help!  I'm out of troubleshooting ideas.

Try resetting the system management controller.
Many of us rarely shut the Mac off. We just put it to sleep. It is built to run 24/7

  • Zen Micro...turns itself on after shutting d

I scanned a few pages of threads and did not see this issue posted, but I apologize if I missed and am repeating something..
Anyway, after installing the .0.03 firmware, my device seems to power itself on about 2-3 seconds after I turn it off.
This happens consistently, whether I turn it off, or if it shuts itself down from being idle.
I did the disk repair and rebuilt the library, but does not seem to have any effect.
Also tried the standard reboot from removing battery for 0sec and powering back on.
No matter what, the thing turns itself back on
Anyone else having this issue or have any recommendations?

forgot to say this means it gets stuck in a continual cycle of turning itself off from being idle, turning itself on, turning off, etc etc. which kills the battery. guess i'll just have to leave the battery out for now

  • Satellite 2450 turn on automatically after shut down

My laptop is a 2450 Satelite and it has started to turn itself back on when I shut it down.
I believe this to be either a power supply problem or a mtherboard problem.
Has any other users had this problem and what was the remedy?
    Thanks,
    super1

Do you have a Network cable attached? Maybe Wake-On-LAN is enabled.
Or perhaps the LCD lid switch just needs a clean :p

    Hi guyz,
i have ordered a Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch 1 week ago and since the first start there is a strange noise -
If you press the power button it makes a short click noise - sounds like an electrical contact is not ok.
What do you mean should i send it back and get a new one?

  • Why does my MacBook turn itself on after being shut-down completely?

I've noticed recently that when I get up in the morning my computer is on after I completely shut it down in the evening.  Has someone hacked into my computer?  If so how do I check to find out?

Welcome back to Apple Support Communities.
Check System Preferences, Hardware, Energy Saver, Power Adapter to see if 'Wake for Ethernet network access' is checked.  (MacBook 2,1 with OS X 10.6.7 illustrated below).
If you leave your computer plugged in to Ethernet, and/or AirPort wireless turned on when you shut down, the computer will wake when it receives an incoming Ethernet network signal. Your router or WiFi router sends signals fairly frequently to see if your computer still attached.

  • My iPod Touch turns itself off randomly

My iPod Touch turns itself off randomly. I will be doing something, and it turns off. It gets so bad that it turns off right after I slide to unlock it. Sometimes it flickers off and on as well. It works fine when plugged in to a power source. I haaven't done anything traumatic to it either. It just randomly started. Has this happened to anyone? If so, did you fix it? If you did, How? Please tell me, I'm at the eand of my rope with this.

Depending on the usage and age of the device it could be the battery.
To make sure it is not software related, reset the iPod by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back gain. You will not lose data doing a reset.
Next step after that would be setting it up "as new device" without using the latest backup: How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device

  • Ideapad U430 Touch gibt störende Geräusche von sich

    Hallo,

  • My MacBook pro is stuck on white screen after shut down. Now, neither this is turn on nor turn off. I had to do

My MacBook pro is stuck on white screen after shut down. Now, neither this is turn on nor turn off.

You should be able to turn off your MBP by pressing the power button down continously for about 5-10 sec. When you reboot it you are going to want to enter into a terminal screen. Hopefully the following YouTube video helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKOX72xNmbo

  • WiDi on IdeaPad U430 touch

    Hello,
I haven't get an answer from the lenovo support yet, but I am interested in the IdeaPad U430 touch and want to know, if there is WirelessDisplay on board.
    Thanx

I have an IdeaPad U430 Touch and I am using WIDi on it. You should make sure you update to Windows 8.1 (if it is not preloaded) and run the Windows update to get the latest graphics and WiFi drivers. I am using it with ActionTec ScreenBeam Pro Wireless Display adapter and the Netgear PTV3000.
The Intel website below has a tool that checks if your system has the latest drivers and updates it:

  • Ideapad U430 Touch - Verarbeitungsmängel - Reparaturdauer nicht tragbar

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Fan doesn't turn off after shut down on 15" MBP C2D

The fan on my 2-day old MBP C2D stays on even after shut down. The speed of the fan even changes. 3 hours after I shut down the fan was still spinning. I pulled the battery and pressed the power button to reset the SMC. As soon as I put the battery back in the fan immediately started spinning again. I didn't even power it on. When I do power it on the fan stops.
My Macbook Pro is actually noisier when it's off than when it's powered on. Has anyone else encountered this. Hopefully there's an easy fix, I don't want to have to leave it with the Apple Store.

A stab in the dark but have you tried resetting PRAM and NVRAM…

… and the System Management Controller…

  • MBP won't turn off after shut down

My MacBook Pro with upgrade to Leopard is staying hot after shut down. I am having to remove the battery to make sure, otherwise I have one red hot laptop when I open up my backpack. Is this another Leopard issue?

    Good morning,
No, this isn't an issue I experience with Leopard...
I'd try [Resetting your MacBook Pro System Management Controller (SMC)|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319] and see if that solves your issue.
    Hope this helps! 
