Ideapad U530 camera has terrible image quality

I purchased an IdeaPad U530 touch a few weeks ago and have found the webcam image is terrible.  I am not talking a little dark or a little grainy, I am talking absolutely terrible.  Very blotchy.  It almost looks like it is below 640x480, way below.   Lighting doesn't help.  The computer has Windows 8.1 and there are no settings that I can find anywhere to make any adjustments to the camera image.  They took out the advanced settings in W8.1 camera so I am stuck.   Are there any settings that I can do to fix this?  As it is, the camera is unusable because the image is so bad.  I have looked online high and low to find a solution and I can't find any way to fix it other than buying a USB camera and ignoring the webcam that I paid for when I bought the computer.

I also have a U530 touch with windows 8.1 and the camera is very grainy running the standard camera app.  I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling the camera driver but no change.  I did notice however that the smaller cam preview in skype seems fine and sharp.
Pictures taken with the camera app in windows is grainy but the picture size is 1280x720.  So it is taking pictures as the proper resolution but the quality is unacceptable.

My LG G3 has terrible call quality. It's fine for first few minutes, but after about 5-10 minutes of call, the person I'm speaking to can't hear me because my sound becomes jittery and /or fades out. I can hear them fine but they can't hear me.

You might Try pulling out the Battery and then removing the sim card for about 10 min. then re-install the Card and re-power the phone see if your call Quality improves..
Note: remove and re-in-stall the card with caution Sim Cards are extremely sensitive in the Gold contact Area..

  • Why has the image quality of my PNG sequences suddenly worsened?

I've been regularly exporting PNG sequences from Premiere Pro CS6, but suddenly the image quality of the images looks terrible.
All my export settings look correct. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
    Thanks...

...and now the results are very poor...
And in which way exactly? How do you judge on quality?
My ... settings are ... 792x582 (same size as source)... My Preview File Format is the default I-frame only MPEG.
Your frame size is not good for previewing in PrPro. MPEG 2 uses macroblocks of 8x8 pixels for compressing data. And now what you get with your frame size: 792 pix / 8 = 99; 582 pix / 8 = 72.75
    My export settings are...

  • MBP Retina FaceTime HD Camera has very poor quality and artifacts.

Hey guys, the camera on my 2012 MBP 15' Retina has ridiculously poor quality. After recieving it I had got major artifacting while using the camera for skype, facetime and Google+. Usually the artifacting would continue (many multi-colored horizontal lines across the screen of the camera) until finally the bars would disappear maybe one or two bars would remain, regardless it was usable. I noticed, however, the quality was attrocious, but I assumed it was just how it was supposed to be (very surprised for a $2300 laptop). Recently my friend purchased the same laptop, after looking at his FaceTime HD camera, I realized mine was simply an attrocious fluke, my camera had ridiculous blurring and grain and awful light sensing. I am still under warranty until November 23rd, 2013. What are your opinions on how to get this resolved?
    Here are some pictures:

Call AppleCare which you should have done from day one.
After recieving it I had got major artifacting while using the camera
You had 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer.  No questions asked!

  • FM9: terrible image quality when saving a .fm page as .htm page...

    Hello,
I have several framemaker pages I want to save as html pages.
The problem I have concerns the quality of images...
The images I import have a good quality but once I save the page as .htm, Framemaker automatically resizes it and duplicates the image under another name..
Framemaker may not be the best tool to produce html pages but I also need to produce a PDF version of these pages...:-/
I have tried to import .png files, .jpeg files but everytime the result is as bad as before in the .html version..
So far the only solution I have found is to use Dreamweaver to resize the images by hand but it may become a tedious work since I have a lot of images....
Do you have an idea how to obtain a good image quality result in .html?
Do you think I am not using the appropriate tool to do this?
Thank you very much in advance
    Anna

    Anna,
FM's html export is quite simplistic and lacks many controls.
If you need to get good html from FM, then consider using Omni Systems mif2go (see: http://www.omsys.com/dcl/mif2gopg.htm ). It can be set to use the original import files so no unintended conversions take place. Once you've configured the settings to your liking, it's a simple click and convert for production use. The evaluation version is fully functional and doesn't time out - it just does some random word shuffling so the output wouldn't be usable as a reliable reference.

  • Terrible image quality when using Save for Web in Adobe Illustrator CS6

When saving images of any format and of any ppi using "Save for Web", "round" corners become blurred and pixel , "acute" (vertical and horizontal) angles are clear and of good quality. Reinstalled system with the hope that the cure (Windows 7 64-bit) - has not helped. Up to this point, such a problem did not face, all was well. How can i deal with this?

You are not really making sense.
    a) Viewing images at more than 100% in any viewer will introduce resampling from image to screen space. Different tools use different algorithms, but none of them will ever be perfectly "sharp". Again, simple mathematics.
    b) JPEG is a compressed format that will never produce "sharp" lines in areas that don't coincide with the underlying block compression. If you wanted that, you'd use PNG or other formats.
So unless you can provide screenshots that illustrate your issue better at 100% zoom, I see nothing out of the ordinary here. Of course there could be all sorts of issues liek color space conversion or odd pixel sizes causing unfavorable distribution of compression blocks, but we realyl cannot judge any of that based on teh info you provided. Just saying that something doesn't look like you experct it to isn't really helping...

  • Satellite S70-A-11H web camera image quality is not good

    Hi,
Running windows 8.1 which came with the laptop.
    New out of the box.
    As per title.
I find the image quality of the camera image to be very grainy, poor color etc.
When I start the web camera using the search bar on the right, it starts using the Microsoft application, when you scroll down to settings all that is available under settings/options is Photo aspect ratio, Grid lines, Location info.
I have been in touch with Toshiba Tech support who advised to do a Laptop refresh, which I did.
    This made no difference.
After which they asked me to find the Toshiba web camera application on the laptop, this should have been in the Program Files folder in the Toshiba folder.
This application does not exist on my laptop.
The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better. Unable to get to settings as these laptops were on display and in demo mode, hence locked down to some extent.
I can't believe that a web camera in this day and age for this value of laptop to have such poor image quality. My digital camera from 10year ago has better image quality.
I have checked through the laptop, and I do not have this application installed.
I have checked for updated drivers and software for my laptop, and cannot find this application to be applicable for my laptop. Drivers etc appear to be up to date.
I would like to know, do other users of this S series have any issue of camera image quality.
When the camera is selected what application is being used, Toshiba or Microsoft.
Is Toshiba web camera application applicable to Windows 8.1, as I cannot see it listed for 8.1
Does this sound like a hardware fault or a application/software issue.
Any direction or help on this matter would be appreciated, as I am getting to the point of returning this laptop for a refund.
    Thanks in advance.
    D.
Yes, I have tried using the FORCE!

    > The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
The Toshiba webcam application is available for Win 7 system but the Win 8 and Windows 8.1 system use the own Microsoft webcam application.
    > I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better.
Different Toshiba notebooks are equipped with different webcams.
Satellite S70-A-11H was equipped with a *0.92 mega pixel webcam*
A Satellite A660 for example was equipped with an _1.3M mega pixel webcam_
So there is a difference in webcam resolution

  • Poor image quality elements 12 slideshow preview

As I can't find any reference to my original post I thought I'd re-do it.  I created a slideshow in elements 12 and found the image quality to fall far short of high definition.  The source folder for the images used is contained in Windows Pictures.  The pictures were taken with a Canon t4i camera with the image quality being excellent.  For whatever reason the quality of the slideshow images are poor.  Any help would be appreciated.

Don't purchase a video editing app to work with just still images. They are meant to be used with DV and really don't do a still image any justice.
The final source format should determine the software used. You are suggesting a DVD distribution of your work.
iPhoto is meant to be used on still images (not iMovie, in my opinion).
You don't really want to convert a single frame into multiple frames if you don't need to.
You may want to try the Photo JPEG, Motion JPEG or Animation codecs from iMovie and see if they improve the visual appearance of your work.
Since you want to use a DVD as the distribution method then iDVD may not be the best option either. It is meant for set top boxes using a poor 720X480 dimension in MPEG-2 video format.
You may want to consider a bit different approach and use a "data" DVD and use QuickTime Player as the playback engine. These will only play on a computer but your could use the higher dimensions to your advantage and also the visual quality of computer displays to showcase your work.
Since HD DVD players are not yet ready for mass use it may be a better way to distribute your work.
There is no 720X480 dimension limit (only the limit set by the viewer on the display size when viewed on a computer monitor).
Your "still" images would remain "still" except for transitions.
Heck. You could probably put the whole file onto a CD and save even more in production costs.

  • Creating PDF from File is creating poor image quality.

When I combine files to one PDF I am receiving terrible image quality. I'm importing PNG's and I set my preferences to maximum PNG quality.

    asv wrote:
I tried to "print" my file to the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer and control the image settings from there, but it keeps failing.
when you say "it keeps failing" what does this mean?  Do you get any error message or messages?
The best way to create any pdf file from Microsoft Office package is to print to the pdf file as you have already tried.  If this fails for any reasons you can save the file in PPT or any Office packages as PDF as long as you have the latest versions of Office - 2007, 2010, or 2013.  For Office 2007 you had to download an Add-in from Microsoft website to "Save as" pdf but 2010 and 2013 are automatic.
    Hope this helps.

  • Bad image quality of slideshows

I am a new Mac user. I am having difficulty making slideshows from the iLife version 6 software with the features that I want and decent image quality.
I've been trying with iPhoto, iMovieHD and iDVD. I want to be able to put captions or title screens in my slideshows, so I must use either iDVD or iMovieHD. If I do not want my photos to pan and zoom, I can use iDVD. I've done this and burned the result to a DVD. When I play the DVD on my 65" wide screen high definition television, the image quality of the slideshow is not satisfactory. Diagonal lines have visible stepping. Just before a photo transitions to the next photo, there is a noticeable increase in the number of digital artifacts for about one second.
For some slideshows, I wanted to have the pan and zoom effects, and title screens, so I used iMovieHD. When I started the project, I chose the format 1080i because that is what my high definition television can do. I realize, however, that my DVD player cannot do that resolution, so I am not sure that was the correct format to choose. I "shared" the completed slideshow movie to iDVD. When I play that slideshow, I see many digital artifacts in the images as the zoom happens. The images are not as good as looking at the original digital photos on the computer.
Is there a way to make a slideshow on a DVD that has an image quality that matches the original digital photograph? Is it possible to use the pan and zoom effect when I wish to play a DVD slideshow on a television?
    Any help is appreciated.
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   2MB memory, 15"

I realize that I did not ask exactly the right question.
I've made slideshows using U-lead software on my windows XP desktop machine. The image quality of those slideshows on a standard TV is better than what I can do with iDVD and iMovie. So I'm wondering is there something I need to do in iDVD that might be automatically happening in the U-lead software. Obviously, I do not expect people here to know anything about that software, but you might know of something in the iDVD software that will prevent the digital artifacts that I see when I use iDVD to make a slideshow. So far, the slideshows I've made are bordering on not watchable.

  • Has anyone had issues with poor image quality when using lightroom to process raw images from Canon 7dmk2

    Hi everyone..
..I have been having image quality issues when using Lightroom to process raw files from a 7d mk2... They are all soft with poor clarity.....tonight in despair I tried processing them  using  canon's software and they are totally different..."much better"
    anyone else had similar problems....Andy

I have a 7D2 and have not had what I interpret as poor image quality that has anything to do with the camera.
Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing and what specifically you don’t like?  Maybe there is something you can do differently or at least there may be an explanation for what you’re seeing.
And if you have a raw image that you wouldn’t mind sharing in a public forum, upload to http://www.dropbox.com/ then post a public share link to it in a reply, here.
In other words post a screenshot of what you see in LR, another of what you see using DPP, and a link to the raw file you’re processing.

    Hi al..
I am a die hard fan of nokia .Very exited to but nokia n8.
I went Happily to take live demo of n8 and book it.But i was shocked a lot...
When i tested the camera.. the brightness of the image it produces is very less such that when shooted at a distant even the person's face is unrecognizable.
I took several shoots, changed all settings, even went to another  show room.the same.Even the pic quality is not good when zoomed in starts pix-elating,some noise in image quality.
I know N8 has best camera and spec ,But i cant believe the quality it produces in real.
What is this.Is that it the quality or both the n8 i examined are fault pieces (no way both are fresh pieces)?
Or the pieces that my state/Country is getting is not such quality manufacturing.?
Because none of the review or post have said like the camera quality exp is bad.I my self could nt believe the quality.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • Pearl 8220 camera image quality is poor, poor, poor

The photo image quality of the camera on my BB Pearl 8220 is extremely grainy and dark.
I understand this is a cell phone camera and expectations are low to begin with, but this is unacceptably low quality.  The flash appears to function properly but that doesn't matter because the image quality is poor even for pictures taken in full sunlight.
Are there camera adjustments or settings that I haven't found that can remedy this problem?  The ones I HAVE found have had no effect.
    Thanks for any help.

i've taken some good pics with our phones...
I did notice that you need to be extremely steady (no built in "camera shake"), but other than that, its all been good.
I used the options to make the pics as large as possible too; but I do that with our digital camera as well.  I use Paint Shop to edit them on our PC.
Where there is a will, there is a way...
If there is no way; there is always a bigger hammer.
