Ideas on BYOD restriction now CSD Vault is deprecated
Hi All,
So, as we may or may not all know, certain features in the CSD package are deprecated. These include the cache cleaner and most topically for me at the moment vault.
I am looking to provide a solution where once identified that a machine is a BYOD, they are able to view and change files on a remote server etc, but not download them to the device (CIFS/SMB). Vault would have been ideal for this it would allowed certain applications to act as if local (word), yet cleared any data on the local machine on logout. As long as the user saved their changes on the remote server, they could work on their own device (in scope is win machines only as BYOD) using applications on their local machine which would have removed the risk of moving files and data around on a non-corporate machine as the secure desktop would have provided a nice safe environment.
As it is now deprecated I cannot really justify this as a solution and am looking around for something with a similar outcome. Remote TS servers/citrix aside, is there any mechanism in say ISE that will allow the same sort of functionality? ISE seems to be much more device security compliance oriented (extensive host scan, AAA etc).
Thoughts appriciated. My hunt continues.

I've used up several gift cards playing games on my iPad. Now I want to put back in my main credit card that I use playing games and it won't take it. Says there are too many cards associated with this apple ID. I have no idea what to do now -- anybody?
You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them. -
Hi. Bought recently iphone5 from singapore. but the one who sold us the phone has set restriction. now i cannot download any apps from my itunes. I dont know the restriction code so i think i need to reset my phone. does resetting remove the unlock?
You need to restore it with iTunes or wipe it from the phone itself... Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Either of these will create a factory fresh phone, thus removing the restrictions. Note that ALL user data will be wiped.

What's New in Adobe Ideas v2.5 | Create Now | Adobe TV
Sr. Product Manager, Takashi Morifusa reviews the top new features in the 2.5 release of Adobe Ideas. Explore the new drawing tools and layers functionality. Also, learn how to bring your Adobe Ideas files into Illustrator for further refinement.
http://tv.adobe.com/watch/create-now/whats-new-in-adobe-ideas-v25/I must say about a year ago I looked at adobe ideas and said that it was a wast of resources and that it had no good use case. about 3 months ago I looked at it on a weekend away from my main computer. I had a need for drawing. I love this app. Please continue to develop it. It is amazing. I was worried because the iPad has no pressure sensitivity, but muse works around this and it is excellent. Can it be better? Absolutely, but it is great for such a young program. Please Keep developing it and promote it more. I love this app. Did I mention that I love this app. Eventually I will have samples at www.billmurphy.ca

I have no idea where to turn now...can someone help me?
Don't know who to talk to now so this will be long...... sorry:
So, in January I went to the Verizon store to either have them fix my Galaxy Mini 4 or maybe upgrade my edge for a new phone. So after looking everything over, I had decided I'd get either a Note 4 or the S5.
The sales kid came over and we discussed many options. Told me that I could indeed upgrade my edge and so I opted for the Note 4. He then told me about the 'special promotion' that was going on and that I could get a 'free' tablet along with a year of Netflix.
I kept asking him 'Are you sure about the tablet? I don't see anything written down about it' and again he assured me ... 'Oh yes, we have special promotions all the time'
Ok, so I agreed to the 'free' tablet and Netflix. I asked how much it would change my bill... he told me about $10 more because I would be getting a credit each month of $25.
So then I asked, how much would I have to put down on this to walk out with these items... he says 'nothing, you are a customer in good standings' Hmmm, ok... So, I decide that I'm going to put $75 on my account anyway... Asked how much the total would be and he gave me a price of about $175 and some change.
He asked me if I wanted him to email me my reciepts and I told him yes and he confirmed my email.
So, after an hour, I walk out of there with:
1. New Note 4
2. 'Free' Tablet
3. Case for Note 4
4. Case for 'Free' tablet
5. Screen protectors for 'Free' Tablet.
The next day... the 'Free' Tablet wouldn't turn on. I had charged it all night..with the charger that was given to me... so I went back to the store and told them what was happening and they couldn't find my stuff. They asked if I had my reciepts and I told them no I hadn't yet gotten them from the kid that helped me. She looked further and said 'well your email isn't on your account that's why'.. Ummm no.. it was because the kid confirmed it before I left.
Anyway she finally found the purchase and tried to tell me that I had the wrong charger..told her... no..it came in the box.. End result, the tablet was bad, so they replaced it.
Fast forward to my bill........
Almost $600.00!!!!!!!!! So I call
No one can find my $75 payment. BUT it's taken out of my bank. So I'm told that they would go and look for that payment and call me back. AND I wanted to know why I had been charged almost $250 for 'equipment' purchase. Well, come to find out... there was no 'special promotion' and I was charged for the 'Free' Tablet. So, the rep told me she would look into this and call back.
I was too nice... I waited a week.....So again I tell the whole story and what this lady finds out is that I'm being charged for items that i never bought or have AND that the 'Free' Tablet was charged to my account at $80.00. AND that my $75 was applied to all the 'extras' I bought that day!!!!
Now I told them I didn't need a **bleep** tablet... I have a perfectly good one at home, so why would I buy a new one? He said and assured time & time again that it was free.....
Now I'm livid... she did call the store to find out what their take of it was, the kid that helped me wasn't in but he & the manager of that evening would be in the next day and the store manager was opening up an investigation on it. Again... I'm assured a phone call the next day.... hmmmm.... 4 days later, I've got nothing!
No one from the store has called me to ask me anything, the lady that promised to call me back to check to see if they had called me hasn't called me back nor has she answered any emails that I had sent to her as she had requested.
Is this the new way that Verizon treats their customers?? I can't afford to pay my bill now because they're saying that I owe over $400.
I have no more places to turn to on this ordeal... so if anyone has read this whole thing... THANK YOU.... Does anyone have anyone's name or phone number so that I can try to get this rectified?
I'm so done...
TinaTina,
I would go crazy if this was me. You may find this interesting from the customer agreement (to see full agreement go here:Customer Agreement | Verizon Wireless):
"HOW AND WHEN CAN I DISPUTE CHARGES?
If you're a Postpay customer, you can dispute your bill within 180 days of receiving it, but unless otherwise provided by law or unless you're disputing charges because your wireless device was lost or stolen, you still have to pay all charges until the dispute is resolved. If you're a Prepaid customer, you can dispute a charge within 180 days of the date the disputed charge was incurred. YOU MAY CALL US TO DISPUTE CHARGES ON YOUR BILL OR ANY SERVICE(S) FOR WHICH YOU WERE BILLED, BUT IF YOU WISH TO PRESERVE YOUR RIGHT TO BRING AN ARBITRATION OR SMALL CLAIMS CASE REGARDING SUCH DISPUTE, YOU MUST WRITE TO US AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ADDRESS ON YOUR BILL, OR SEND US A COMPLETED NOTICE OF DISPUTE FORM (AVAILABLE AT VERIZONWIRELESS.COM), WITHIN THE 180–DAY PERIOD MENTIONED ABOVE. IF YOU DO NOT NOTIFY US IN WRITING OF SUCH DISPUTE WITHIN THE 180-DAY PERIOD, YOU WILL HAVE WAIVED YOUR RIGHT TO DISPUTE THE BILL OR SUCH SERVICE(S) AND TO BRING AN ARBITRATION OR SMALL CLAIMS CASE REGARDING ANY SUCH DISPUTE."
This may help you also: Arbitration and Mediation FAQs | Verizon Wireless
You can dispute any charges by doing an Arbitration or Mediation. I have never done it, so I can not help much there but this all may get you started.
Let me know if any of this works! Good Luck! Please keep me updated. I really hope they help you. -
HT5267 Applets will no longer run - any idea what to do now?
I applied Apple's latest Java update and now I can't run any applets (Webstart applications still work though). I looked in my preferences and Java/plugins are checked under Safari's Preferences->Security.
The update indicated that if I didn't run applets for awhile, I might see "Inactive plug-in" on a page containing an applet. I don't see that. The region that has the non-running applet is simply blank.
Does anyone know what I can do now? I use Java applets almost every day - and now I can't.Hi Linc,
I followed the above with the following results:
When logged in as GuestUser, the applets at http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/index.html do work. I initially got the "Inactive Plugin" message as the Java update indicated I might, but once I re-enabled the plugin the applets worked.
When I booted into safe mode, however, the problem was back. Below are the error messages that come up in the console (pretty much the same as before with a couple extra errors - maybe due to running in safe mode) as well as the crash report details.

I have lost i photo from my mac. How can I restore it. I have no idea where it is now
I have lost i photo from my mac. How can I restore it. I have no idea how this happened
With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
have you tried double clicking on your iPhoto Library to see if it will open?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive? -
Replication for Data on DEV and QA - bad idea - primary key problem now
I goofed. I tried to use replication to keep the data on my dev machine up to date with the live server. Now when I try to work on the database, adding new stuff, it fails. It says there is a primary key problem every time I try to add
a new item to a table with my program. I should have realized this would happen! Now, even though I've removed the replication, I'm having the problem. Can anyone help me get my database functional again :/ Or should I resort to a database
restore. Thanks! So you have an IDENTITY column in your table? Run a
DBCC CHECKIDENT (Transact-SQL) command with option RESEED to fix the current identity value to see if it works then.

Any idea why my albums now have no photos in them?
my albums that have been filled with hundreds of photos are now showing they are empty when i go into iphoto? however my screensaver which pulls a slideshow from these albums is still showing the photos? also my iphoto has quit a few times in the past week. any thoughts?
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Are the photos still visible in the Library? If so, Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
It’s possible that these crashes have damaged the database file. If the above does not help:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I had the replacement hard drive installed and the tech said he left the password open. My old password does not work. I can use the computer, but I cannot log in to add new wireless devices or to download programs. I recently tried to download Adobe Flash player, and I needed to log in but could not. I can downloan security updated from Apple and the machine will shut down and restart, without me needing to enter a password. I bought this computer from Apple directly in 2007. Is this a case where I need to send it to them since they can verify that I own it, or can I get help with this online or from a local computer tech?
If you use Lion, boot into your recovery pressing Command and R buttons, press "Utilities" menu, open Terminal and write:
resetpassword
If you have Snow Leopard, boot into your install DVD pressing C button, click "Utilities" and press Password Reset -
Hello like the question says i need help.. i cant log into my imessage..
Imessage, Facetime, Itunes, App Store, Notifications. Nothign on my iPad is working right. I did a Reset of all settings, I changed my DNS as suggested in a post. I tried everything. My iPhone 5 is working perfectly. All the news outlets were surprised that they were releasing the iPad version at the same time. Most said it would be delayed till Oct but Apple said it was ready. I tend to disagree as the problems I have having are isolated to my iPad 3 and NOT my iPhone 5. Real tiresome.

I moved an email from a smartbox to another file on my side bar and it disapeared completly any ideas
I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.
Plug your phone into iTunes
Click setup as a new device
Immediately unplug your phone from the computer
Give it about 30 seconds and iTunes will give a message (I don’t remember the specific, but regarding you unplugging the device and it not completing)
Plug your phone back in
Viola! no restore occurred and you can access everything again
This computer has previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device. -

I am now getting a Yahoo search page just before I enter a website -- no idea why
Been using Firefox for sometime -- for some reason today I started noticing a Yahoo browser page appearing ever so briefly just before entering a website? Why? If this isn't normal, how can I delete this? No idea why it is now appearing.

Any idea what happened to the "Show All " button in my organizer ?
I am still very much a rookie at all of this so please bear with me. I have been working my way through the lessons in the "Photoshop Elements 7 Classroom in a Book" publication, and am on Lesson 3,page 106, step 4, of the "Viewing and Managing Files by Folder Location" feature ,which tells me to........
"Click the Display button and then choose Thumbnail View from the menu. In the Photo Browser, click Show All".......
There is NO "Show All " button option offered on my screen. Any idea where my "Show All " button might be hiding ? I had one awhile back ,but have no idea where it is now ?More generally, Show All will only show when the Organizer isn't showing all your photos. For example, if you click on a tag to show just the photos with that tag, the Show All button will show up.
Alas, what I said above isn't completely true. There are a number of situations where this rule doesn't hold:
- When you've restricted the photos shown to a date range using Find > Set Date Range.
- When you've restricted which media types to show using View > Media Types.
- When you type text quickly into the search box and hit enter (on a large catalog).
