Ideas to recover a Stolen iPod Classic

Apparently, even though Apple may have the means for identifying a user which is using a stolen iPod Classic, they do not assist in recovering that iPod. So I was wondering, is there any other method within the Apple community that might be of value to assist an owner in recovering their stolen property?

As an iPod classic can't connect to the Internet on its own, there is no special way of finding it. Treat it as any other lost or stolen item.

I just found my Ipod classic a friend of a friend stole my 3 months ago. I took note of the serial number, search with my Itunes the serial number of my ipod and it is mine. I also called Appel and they confirmed that Ipod had been register at my name 3 years ago when I bougth it. So, I am still in process to give all this info in order to get it pack, but it is a bit conplicated because the gay how stole it says to the police he bought it in a black market...when in fact, he was working for my at that time......
My question is. I say the Ipod had only 600 sons but it say in the settings it has only 27GB free when it has a capacity of 160GB.... I use to have more than 10 000 sons on that Ipod! So, I think they did something to the Ipod to HIDE MY DATAS.... How can I unblock or see my datas again? Please answer me quickly because then would also help my proving it is mine...!

They cannot access your account using it. They could potentially extract your media and from that learn the email address of your Apple ID. They would need to crack the password by force. The device itself doesn't have any access to your account and cannot be de-registered for it.

Stolen iPod Classic - Insurance claim

My 64gb iPod Classic (silver) was stolen and I am in the process of claiming for it on my insurance, however, I do not have the receipt which details how much I paid for it (I purchased it about 5 years ago, brand new, and paid £199.99). Is there any way that I can contact Apple and obtain a letter or paperwork of some kind which details how much it cost? I no longer have the bank account which I had when I bought it so bank statements are out.

Stolen iPod Classic

My ipod classic was stolen and I can't buy another one from Apple because Apple discontinued the product. That doesn't make sense. I am sure they have discontinued products sitting on the shelf somewhere. I have checked Ebay and Amazon, it's ridiculous what people are selling these iPods for. I don't want to pay 4, 5, 6 times more for this product.

What others charge for iPod classic has nothing to do with Apple.
Read about the Apple 1 in the news lately, they also cost a fortune.

Since you said you did not set up the FindMyiPhone feature on the iPod you try to find it just like you would a watch. Nothing special for the iPod. Report the theft to the police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod. Also see:

Yes, if you have any backups on file. If you are using windows, go to edit>preferences, if on a mac, go to itunes>preferences.
When you are in the preferences page, choose the device tab.
Look for a backup of the ipod, if there is, you can just hover your mouse over the backup, dont click or anything, but after a moment or two, a little box will pop up with you serial number.

My iPod Classic was stolen. What to expect trying to access my "old" iTunes library?

My iPod Classic 160GB was stolen this week. Got it for Xmas last year and had only started using it in the last few months. It was loaded with 150+ GB of music. I got a good deal today on a replacement 160GB Classic (7th gen) from Craigslist. I'm charging it now but I'm wondering what problems I'm going to encounter trying to get my 150+GB of music onto this "new to me" iPod Classic. It would be nice if I could simply sync the library to the iPod but I'm afraid it can't be that simple. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
I logged into Apple earlier trying to get the serial # off my stolen iPod Classic and noticed that I didn't see it registered with my iPhone and my other 2 iPod Nanos. I was 99% sure I had registered it. Is this in anyway a problem? Could it have been re-registered by the person who stole it? Actually, that would be nice because I still have the box with the serial #. But just wondering what registering provides and how my Classic isn't there.
One other thing, can I simply register this "new to me" iPod Classic with Apple?

If the media is in the library then yes it is that simple. Connect the device, load it up with your media. The problem is when you try to connect a full device to a new empty library on a new computer when iTunes will offer to replace the content on the device with that in the local library, i.e. nothing! (For anyone in that position see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device).
You should be able to add your devices at https://supportprofile.apple.com/ though I'm not sure what happens if the second hand iPod was previously registered.

If you have turned on “Find my iPod/iPad/or iPhone recently, then you can find it, by following these steps:
Log into www.icloud.com with the Apple I.D. Associated with your iPod/iPad/or iPhone
Click on Devices
Click on the device that has gone lost
Either put it in Lost Mode (suggested), or make it play a sound. (PLEASE NOTE: DEVICE MUST BE CONNECTED TO WIFI IN ORDER FOR THESE TO HAPPEN)

I have an iPod Classic 6th generation 80gb that worked fine until a week ago. It randomly stopped working. The iPod works perfectly but there is no audio. I've tried everything.

iPod Classic doesn't have any wireless built-in, so you would need a wireless microphone system plugged into the iPod output (and which is the size of 2 iPod Classic) and a wireless receiver. so it won't be very comfy to "walk around home, and this stuff start around 100$, so you'd be better off with an iPod Touch, although it has less storage.

What kind of power cord dose the ipod classic have.

That why I recomend the battery (inclucing the UPS). You have to pay more to get an UPS which can run for hew hours.
UPS: Uninterupted Power Supply. Or buy a generator with auto switch, when power out it will automatically start BUT you still need UPS to run your computer for at least few minutes. I actually run UPS in my house but only for 10mins, enought time for my NAS to switch off orderly.
