IDefrag Issues
I had done a lot of reading and read conflicting things about whether OSX needs to be defragmented. I went ahead and decided to give it a shot since my disk space remaining was less than 10%. After letting iDefrag do its thing, my computer restarted and thats when the issues began. I now show no date/time/airport/battery info in my menu bar, my desktop icons are all whacky looking, and I am unable to launch an application unless it is in the dock (other wise it appears as though it doing something similar to "show package contents"). What did I do? How can I fix this and get my computer back to normal?

It's going to be painful and brutal work getting your machine back, but that seems to me to be the only course of action that is going to clear your mess up.
FYI, keeping your boot drive below 50% filled.
Installing the OS first and updating
then programs, then finally files from backup (but not more than 50% of the drive filled)
Tends to keep OS X in fine shape for long periods of time.
Cloning back and forth also makes things fast again and is much safer then Defragging as you always have a functioning copy.

Really Bad Playback Issue w/iTunes
I really hope there's someone who can help with this issue! Sorry for the long post but
I wanted to cover as many possible questions right away.
While working on photoshop files or switching between apps or windows, opening
finder windows, basically doing anything outside of itunes seems to cause itunes
to cut out briefly or completely stop OR the audio stops but the song keeps
playing. Other times a song will stop and then only a loud HISS comes from the
speakers.
I have unplugged the 3rd party speakers and played just through the small
speaker in the G5 and the issues remain.
I've done a fairly thorough search for this issue and have found a few postings
(http://tinyurl.com/yajdg6z) (<--windows version) about it but no answers offered except for one that
suggested:
"right click on the song and go to 'Convert ID3 Tags...'then from the drop down
menu pick one, mine works with v1.1
after that the song should start working again."
I converted my entire library to 1.0 and the problem remained. _I do not_ recommend anyone
do this as itunes will duplicate your entire library!

This issue was there w/10.4.11 using the OEM boot drive and I'm still having
this issue even having done a new installation on a NEW, bigger freakin drive.
The itunes library resides on an external 500GB firewire drive with 39 GB of
space available, so no airtunes or network to contend with.
I've also deleted my entire song list twice. Once re-importing the original
files and finding the issue remained, then deleted again and imported the backup
of the songs from my backup drive in case the 1st drive the originals reside on
was having issues. I guess it isn't!
When working w/Photoshop, the maximum amount of RAM being used by all processes
is a little over 4GB. Since I have 8GB (that's the max amount of RAM this
machine can hold) AND a completely empty 160GB internal drive for Photoshop
scratch disk space, I should be well within tolerances, but I could be wrong for
unknown reasons. I have allotted CS3 it's maximum amount of RAM which is
3072MB.
I have MenuMeters in the toolbar which gives me a constant readout of processor
and RAM usage, so I'll see it if there is a spike or maxing out of the
processor at any given time. I usually never see that unless I am applying an
effect that requires that much, but the iTunes issue comes when just using a
very small healing brush and I'm cleaning up a scan.
BUT, and this is a big "but", the problem is not isolated to just when I'm using
CS3. CS3 might be running and doing nothing, and I'll be switching windows or
to a different app or just advancing to the next song in iTunes itself and bad
things will happen.
With iTunes being the only app running the problemwas minimized. I tried
opening a lot of finder windows with coverflow andscrolling and the problem
wasn't too bad, occurring ONLY when I did a title change of
a song in iTunes. As soon as Safari was opened and I had multiple windows open,
the problem was back with no CS3 running. Basically if I run any app with itunes,
itunes has problems.
I had left itunes running with some Safari windows open to some CNN pages and wasn't
even at the keyboard and heard itunes cutting in and out.
I do all the necessary utilities (DiskUtility, Disk Warrior, iDefrag, Applejack, and CleanMyMac)
to keep everything up and running so why is this going on? I have also uninstalled Perian just
+in case+ that might help. It didn't.
This is driving me nuts!

I have 2 500GB FW drives that are clones of each other.
One drive I work from and the other is the backup.
I have deleted the library from itunes and loaded the +clone drives+ copies of the music instead, in case working on images while playing music from the same drive was causing the issue.
Also I switched FW ports the drives are plugged into; switching from the PCI FW card they were plugged into, to the built-in FW port on the G5.
Worst case I will just play music through the wired network on my G4 and plug in the good speakers into the headphone/speaker jack on the G4. I've tested this out using +itunes 6+ which is what is on my G4. I'll update itunes on the G4 eventually if no other suggestions come in. I may try downgrading to itunes 8.2 on the G5 unless I hear otherwise.
You're right this shouldn't happen but seems to be specific to this particular machine as a previous G5 that died on me had no problems. I bought this one used so I can't speak to it's previous history, but it demoed just fine w/final cut and HD movies that were being edited by the previous owner.
I've had this issue since getting this G5. It occurred using the boot drive from my original G5, the boot drive that came with this G5, and the present brand new 300GB boot drive that I'm gonna stay with.
Things that have come to mind as possible culprits have been bad memory and the application switcher if that's still used in Leopard.

I tried to defragment my hd using iDefrag. Prior to defragging, I ran DiskWarrior. iDefrag [which runs fine on my other 3 Macs] went into an endless loop and, when running repeatedly, it generated an error message...cannot move blocks from A to B.
Q at that time: directory issue of hardware issue.
So I zeroed the hd, and hence, retired any bad blocks [if there were any]...after re-loading the software from scratch, when running iDefrag again, I had the same error message and problems. After several tries, I am down to 4 fragmented files with no more than 3 fragments each. All files belong to Spotlight.
The friendly people at Apple Care were as much at a loss as I was. Fact is that I have never had any hd issues in real life.
Does anybody have similar problems and how did you solve them?
Any recommendationw how to go from here?

It turned out that deleting the empty space did not have any noticeable effect on the write performance.
But there is one thing I don't understand: I already have an archive harddisk externally attached via USB. It is a TrekStor 2TB system of two 1 TB disks. But unlike my internal RAID these two disks are combined by the USB case. Apple Disk Utility does not recognize two independent disks. Also both (the USB 2 TB + the internal 3 TB RAID) are formated HFS+ Journaled. I can't figure out if they are both GUID or Apple Partitions. Is there a way to find out?
BUT: I can fill up the USB drive with 1,82 TB net space with 1,82 TB of data. There is only 1,1 GB free space left. And even the last 10 GB copied with speeds around 4 MB/s which is slow, but compared to normal USB 2 speed around 15 MB/s this is an ok speed.
So thats a usage of 99,94 % and the drive is still more or less usable. Now writing is about 1 MB/s. But 1 GB of left over space would be ok I guess.
So what might be the reason the internal 3 disk RAID would not deliver that performance? I'd hate to waste 50 GB of working space, when I am working on a large video project.

Well you need to resolve that backup issue first and combined we will solve your other issue.
Get a new blank external drive either the same size or slightly larger than your boot drive and open Disk Utility in your Applications > Utilities folder.
Select the external drive makers name on the far left and click Erase and Security option > Zero all data on the new external drive, let it complete it will take some time.
If your on 10.7, the Erase function and select the next to the far right option, that's a Zero Erase, the 7x takes too long and isn't necessary as the Zero erase is enough to map off any failing sectors.
Once that is finished, download the free to use (donations) Carbon Copy Cloner and clone the OS X drive (10.7 partition) to the external drive using the default settings, just select drive A and B and click clone. Wait for this also takes some time.
Hold the option key down and select the cloen to boot from, check it out, it's a exact copy. Cool.

You got burned, because iDefrag doesn't move data in that fashion, it only attempts to defrag files and still leaves data on the area where your trying to create the Bootcamp partition.
Your solution is to option key boot from the clone, Zero erase the OS X partition and reverse clone back onto the drive/partition. Provided you have the drive space avaialble for Bootcamp, then all the free space will be avaialble at the bottom of the drive to create the Bootcamp partition.

I have a MacBook Pro 15.4 inches running Mac OS Lion. I was trying to install windows 7 using boot camp but I keep running into this issue where it gives me this error message:
"The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved.
Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."
I tried using Disc Utility. I first tried to create a backup on an external Hard drive but it didn't work. It said the file was too large. I had plenty of space. Where do I create the backup then and how do I restore the backup? I have a single partitioned drive.
Alternatively, will formatting my computer to factory settings work? I don't care much for the data, I have a backup for that. If so how long will it take me to do it and how do I do it.
I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do. I'm fairly new on Macs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Shrink your Mac HFS partition as much as you can, then extend it back out to full size.
This has been asked almost daily for last 4 yrs or ever since Boot Camp has existed.
Need to have free contiguous, unfragmented, free space, with no files locked or interferring with creating a new partition. Shrink can work where BCA fails.
Cloning your system back and erase + restore also usually works.
Booting from a special CD can also (iDefrag, iPartition) though actually CampTune is probably worth a look $19.

Hi all,
I am having some issues on my macbook.
Specs: First gen Macbook white with superdrive, 2gb ram, custom Hitachi 160gb HDD, Leopard (all latest updates installed), battery recently calibrated, SMC recently resetted, Permissions recently repaired, Disk recently verified, fragmentation (idefrag) 1.2%. 49gb hdd free.
Issues:
The first issue I noticed was that around 20% of battery the computer just shut down without any warning, calibration and SMC reset did not solve the issue.
The second is that everything concerning audio is... crackling. Itunes (with normal mp3s) begun to reproduce files it normally easlily reproduced with sudden crackling and skipping, the thing gets worse when I am doing other things (safari, mail,...). In activity monitor CPU does not show a big load (crackles even at 5% cpu load).
Then came video reproduction audio crackling, with ALL players (DVD, QT and VLC), and frame dropping. Sometimes the video just plays very slowly and audio crackles. I have to quit the player to solve.
Then with skype, when my isight is on I cannot even hear audio, but no issues if my contact is sending me his video.
Temperature runs higher than usual, and fan goes on easily, especially when USB external HDD (and Timemachine) drives are connected.
Last but not least blue tooth sometimes just disconnects (apple keyboard and mighty mouse), some seconds before the mouse responds very slowly as if the bluetooth bandwidth was totally full.
All these issues appear both on battery and when plugged.
I cannot pinpoint a moment in which all started but with Tiger and the first releases of leopard it did not have any issues. Custom ram and HDD where installed long ago and worked fine until recently.
Do you think it may be a software problem, or I am having serious hardware issues?
I could only think of three possibilities: bugs in Leopards 10.5.2, HDD or motherboard or audio issues.
Any clue how to solve them? (I did everything: repairing permissions, verifying disk, defragmenting, freeing hdd space, Onyx maintenance). The computer works fine, and is normally responsive and fast, when not concerning audio and video playback.

I, too, am having the battery problem you are having. It happens often when I am working with GarageBand or watching a DVD and am on battery power, there is still definitely 25-30 mins of battery left, and the thing just shuts off! I'm at at a loss as well. -

Idefrag stops defragging when arriving at the following block and gives this warning:

What can i do?
Now i cant finish defragmenting. Only the compact defrag level > cuz this scan level only restore the empty blocks. All the other levels it stops defragging.
Please helpiDefrag may well have damaged your system. No such third party utility is required, or even adviseable, on OS X which does such things by itself.
I would recommend a reinstall from your recovery partition.

You probably won't need to optimize at all if you use Mac OS X. Here's why:
Hard disk capacity is generally much greater now than a few years ago. With more free space available, the file system doesn't need to fill up every "nook and cranny." Mac OS Extended formatting (HFS Plus) avoids reusing space from deleted files as much as possible, to avoid prematurely filling small areas of recently-freed space.
Mac OS X 10.2 and later includes delayed allocation for Mac OS X Extended-formatted volumes. This allows a number of small allocations to be combined into a single large allocation in one area of the disk.
Fragmentation was often caused by continually appending data to existing files, especially with resource forks. With faster hard drives and better caching, as well as the new application packaging format, many applications simply rewrite the entire file each time. Mac OS X 10.3 onwards can also automatically defragment such slow-growing files. This process is sometimes known as "Hot-File-Adaptive-Clustering."
Aggressive read-ahead and write-behind caching means that minor fragmentation has less effect on perceived system performance.
Whilst 'defragging' OS X is rarely necessary, Rod Hagen has produced this excellent analysis of the situation which is worth reading:
Most users, as long as they leave plenty of free space available , and don't work regularly in situations where very large files are written and rewritten, are unlikely to notice the effects of fragmentation on either their files or on the drives free space much.
As the drive fills the situations becomes progressively more significant, however.
Some people will tell you that "OSX defrags your files anyway". This is only partly true. It defrags files that are less than 20 MB in size. It doesn't defrag larger files and it doesn't defrag the free space on the drive. In fact the method it uses to defrag the smaller files actually increases the extent of free space fragmentation. Eventually, in fact, once the largest free space fragments are down to less than 20 MB (not uncommon on a drive that has , say only 10% free space left) it begins to give up trying to defrag altogether. Despite this, the system copes very well without defragging as long as you have plenty of room.
Again, this doesn't matter much when the drive is half empty or better, but it does when it gets fullish, and it does especially when it gets fullish if you are regularly dealing with large files , like video or serious audio stuff.
If you look through this discussion board you will see quite a few complaints from people who find that their drive gets "slow". Often you will see that say that "still have 10 or 20 gigs free" or the like. On modern large drives by this stage they are usually in fact down to the point where the internal defragmentation routines can no longer operate , where their drives are working like navvies to keep up with finding space for any larger files, together with room for "scratch files", virtual memory, directories etc etc etc. Such users are operating in a zone where they put a lot more stress on their drives as a result, often start complaining of increased "heat", etc etc. Most obviously, though, the computer slows down to a speed not much better than that of molasses. Eventually the directories and other related files may collapse altogether and they find themselves with a next to unrecoverable disk problems.
By this time, of course, defragging itself has already become just about impossible. The amount of work required to shift the data into contiguous blocks is immense, puts additional stress on the drive, takes forever, etc etc. The extent of fragmentation of free space at this stage can be simply staggering, and any large files you subsequently write are likely to be divided into many , many tens of thousands of fragments scattered across the drive. Not only this, but things like the "extents files", which record where all the bits are located, will begin to grow astronomically as a result, putting even more pressure on your already stressed drive, and increasing the risk of major failures.
Ultimately this adds up to a situation where you can identify maybe three "phases" of mac life when it comes to the need for defragmentation.
In the "first phase" (with your drive less than half full), it doesn't matter much at all - probably not enough to even make it worth doing.
In the "second phase" (between , say 50% free space and 20% free space remaining) it becomes progressively more useful, but , depending on the use you put your computer to you won't see much difference at the higher levels of free space unless you are serious video buff who needs to keep their drives operating as efficiently and fast as possible - chances are they will be using fast external drives over FW800 or eSata to compliment their internal HD anyway.
At the lower end though (when boot drives get down around the 20% mark on , say, a 250 or 500 Gig drive) I certainly begin to see an impact on performance and stability when working with large image files, mapping software, and the like, especially those which rely on the use of their own "scratch" files, and especially in situations where I am using multiple applications simultaneously, if I haven't defragmented the drive for a while. For me, defragmenting (I use iDefrag too - it is the only third party app I trust for this after seeing people with problems using TechToolPro and Drive Genius for such things) gives a substantial performance boost in this sort of situation and improves operational stability. I usually try to get in first these days and defrag more regularly (about once a month) when the drive is down to 30% free space or lower.
Between 20% and 10% free space is a bit of a "doubtful region". Most people will still be able to defrag successfully in this sort of area, though the time taken and the risks associated increase as the free space declines. My own advice to people in this sort of area is that they start choosing their new , bigger HD, because they obviously are going to need one very soon, and try to "clear the decks" so that they maintain that 20% free buffer until they do. Defragging regularly (perhaps even once a fortnight) will actually benefit them substantially during this "phase", but maybe doing so will lull them into a false sense of security and keep them from seriously recognising that they need to be moving to a bigger HD!
Once they are down to that last ten per cent of free space, though, they are treading on glass. Free space fragmentation at least will already be a serious issue on their computers but if they try to defrag with a utility without first making substantially more space available then they may find it runs into problems or is so slow that they give up half way through and do the damage themselves, especially if they are using one of the less "forgiving" utilities!
In this case I think the best way to proceed is to clone the internal drive to a larger external with SuperDuper, replace the internal drive with a larger one and then clone back to it. No-one down to the last ten percent of their drive really has enough room to move. Defragging it will certainly speed it up, and may even save them from major problems briefly, but we all know that before too long they are going to be in the same situation again. Better to deal with the matter properly and replace the drive with something more akin to their real needs once this point is reached. Heck, big HDs are as cheap as chips these days! It is mad to struggle on with sluggish performance, instability, and the possible risk of losing the lot, in such a situation. -
New DVR Issues (First Run, Channel Switching, etc.)
I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find answers through the search with no luck, so sorry if I missed something.
I recently switched to FIOS from RCN cable in New York. I've gone through trying to setup my DVR and am running into issues and was hoping for some answers.
1. I setup two programs to record at 8PM, I was watching another channel at the time and only half paying attention. Around 8:02 I noticed a message had popped up asking if I would like to switch channels to start recording. I was expecting it to force it to switch like my old DVR, but in this case it didn't switch and I missed the first two minutes of one of the shows. I typically leave my DVR on all day and just turn off the TV, this dual show handling will cause issues with that if I forget to turn off the DVR. Is there a setting I can change that will force the DVR to choose one of the recording channels?
2. I setup all my recordings for "First Run" because I only want to see the new episodes. One show I setup was The Daily Show on comedy central, which is shown weeknights at 11pm and repeated 3-4 times throughout the day. My scheduled recordings is showing all these as planned recordings even though only the 11pm show is really "new". Most of the shows I've setup are once a week so they aren't a problem, but this seems like it will quickly fill my DVR. Any fixes?

Go to Solution.I came from RCN about a year ago. Fios is different in several ways, not all of them desirable. Here are several ways to get--and fix--unwanted recordings from a series recording setup.
Some general principles.
Saving changes. When you originally create a series with options, or if you go back to edit the options for an existing series, You MUST save the Series Options changes. Pretty much everywhere else in the user interface, when you change an option, the change takes effect immediately--but not in Series Options. Look at the Series Options window. Look at the far right side. There is a vertical "Save" bar, which you must navigate to and click OK on to actually save your changes. Exiting the Series Options window without having first saved your changes loses all your attempted changes--immediately.
Default Series Options. This is accessed from [Menu]--DVR--Settings--Default Series Options. This will bring up the series options that will automatically be applied to the creation of a NEW series. The options for every previously created series will not be affected by a subsequent modification of the Default Series Options. You should set these options to the way you would like them to be for the majority of series recordings that you are likely to create. Be sure to SAVE your changes. This is what you will get when you select "Create Series Recording" from the Guide. When creating a new series recording where you think that you may want options different from the default, select "Create Series with Options" instead. Series Options can always be changed for any individual series set up later--but not for all series at once.
Non-series recordings. With Fios you have no directly available options for these. With RCN and most other DVRs, you can change the start and end times for individual episodes, including individual episodes that are also in a series. With Fios, your workarounds are to create a series with options for a single program, then delete the series later; change the series options if the program is already in a series, then undo the changes you made to the series options later; or schedule recordings of the preceding and/or following shows as needed.
And now, to the unwanted repeats.
First, make sure your series options for the specific series in question--and not just the series default options--include "First Run Only". If not, fix that and SAVE. Then check you results by viewing the current options using the Series Manager app under the DVR menu.
Second, and most annoying, the Guide can have repeat programs on your channel tagged as "New". It happens. Set the series option "Air Time" to "Selected Time". To make this work correctly, you must have set up the original series recording after selecting the program in the Guide at the exact time of a first run showing (11pm, in your case), and not on a repeat entry in the Guide. Then, even it The Daily Show is tagged as New for repeat showings, these will be ignored.
Third, another channel may air reruns of the program in your series recording, and the first showing of a rerun episode on the other channel may be tagged as "New". These can be ignored in your series if you set the series option "Channel" to "Selected Channel". Related to this, if there is both an SD and HD channel broadcasting you series program, you will record them both if the series option "Duplicates" is set to "Yes". However, when the Channel option is set to "Selected Channel", the Duplicates Option is always effectively "No", regardless of what shows up on the options screen.
As for you missing two minutes, I have sereral instances in which two programs start recording at the same time. To the best of my recollection, whenever the warning message has appeared, ignoring it has not caused a loss of recording time. You might have an older software version. Newest is v.1.8. Look at Menu--Settings--System Info. Or, I might not have noticed the loss of minutes. I regularly see up to a minute of previous programming at the start of a recording, or a few missing seconds at the beginning or end of a recording. There are a lot of possibilities for that, but the DVR clock being incorrect is not one of them. With RCN, the DVR clocks occasionally drifted off by as much as a minute and a half. -
Pension issue Mid Month Leaving
Dear All,
As per rule sustem should deduct mid month joining/leaving/absences or transfer scenarios, the Pension/PF Basis will be correspondingly prorated. But our system is not doing this. In RT table i have found 3FC Pension Basis for Er c 01/2010 0.00 6,500.00.
Employee leaving date is 14.04.2010. system is picking pension amout as 541. Last year it was coming right.
Please suggest.

We required prorata basis pension in case of left employees and system is not doing this. This is the issue. As per our PF experts Pension amount should come on prorata basis for left employees in case they left mid of month.System is doing prorata basis last year but from this year it is deducting 541. I am giving two RT cases of different years.

Open PO Analysis - BW report issue

I constructed a query in BW in order to show Open Purchase Orders. We have custom DSO populated with standard
datasource 2lis_02_itm (Purcahse Order Item). In this DSO we mapped the field ELIKZ to the infoobject 0COMP_DEL
(Delivery completed).
We loaded the data from ECC system for all POs and found the following issue for Stock Transport Purchase orders (DocType = UB).
We have a PO with 4 line items. For line items 10 and 20, Goods issued, Goods received and both the flags "Delivery
complete" and "Final delivery" checked. For line items 30 and 40, only delivery indicator note is issued for zero
quantity and Delivery complete flag is checked (Final delivery flag is not checked) in ECC system. For this PO, the
delivery completion indicator is not properly updated in the DSO for line items 30 and 40. The data looks like the
following:
DOC_NUM DOC_ITEM DOCTYPE COMP_DEL
650000001 10 UB X

650000001 30 UB
650000001 40 UB
When we run the Open PO analysis report on BW side this PO is appearing in the report but the same is closed in ECC
system.
Any help is appreciated in this regard.

Yes the indicator is checked in EKPO table for items 30 and 40 and delta is running regularly for more than 1 year and no issues with other POs. This is happening only for few POs of type Stock Transport (UB).
I already checked the changes in ME23N and the Delivery completed indicator was changed and it reflected in EKPO table. Further, i checked the PSA records for this PO and i am getting the records with the Delivery completed flag but when i update from PSA to DSO the delivery completed indicator is not updating properly.
In PSA, for item 30 i have the following entries. Record number 42 is capturing the value X for ELIKZ but after that i am getting two more records 43 and 44 with process key 10 and without X for ELIKZ. I think this is causing the problem.

HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602 driver issue
Hello,
I've got issue with 600-series printers. We use the latest UPD drivrer ver. 61.175.1.18849 and print from XenApp 6.5. The error occurs every time when users try to print jpg files from XenApp session. It only happens with 600 series printers and UPD.
Also I've tried to assign native 600-series driver ver. 6.3.9600.16384 and it works good. But with that driver system says that it's color printer and it brokes our printing reports. These reports are very important for us. So we can't use printer and that driver as well.
Printer installed on Windows Server 2012 R2. All clients are Windows 7 x64. XenApp Servers are Server 2008R2.
Is it possible to get fixed UPD driver or correct native driver for Server 2012 R2?

Windows 7 displays error message when exiting +cursor issue
Two issues here. CS5 Phoshop on Wind 7 64 bit.
Physical processor count: 8
Processor speed: 3073 MHz
Built-in memory: 12279 MB
Free memory: 9577 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 10934 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 80 %
Image tile size: 128K
First issue is since the latest automatic Adobe update (why fix what isn't broken?) Every time I now exit Photoshop I get the message "Adobe QT Server has stoped working" and occasionally it happens when I exit bridge. Indesign is also behaving badly. I can no longer start a previous document from file manager without ID crashing out.
The other is the cursors in Clone and erase lose their edge (become invisable) for no reason - well not quite. Noise Ninja crashed Photoshop when I tried to use it. I reinstalled it and all is well. The cursor issue seems to be intermittant but came back (for no reason) after I reinstalled NN. I can't seem to change the cursor, no matter what I do. The problem is now seriously affecting how I work. Almost enough to go back to Win XP which ran CS5 Photoshop flawlessly.
Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Well, that issue is simply a matter of hitting the Caps Lock key. When Caps Lock is on, you'll see the cursor outline, and when it is off you'll see a crosshair. That's a feature, not a bug.
Glad to hear the 11.1 drivers are out. I will download them and try them now myself.
Regarding "Adobe QT" crashing... QT brings to mind QuickTime, though that is Apple, not Adobe. Do you have Apple QuickTime installed?
Regarding memory usage, with 12 GB of installed RAM, you should be able to set Photoshop to use 90% or more in Edit - Preferences - Performance.

Issue in Creation of Periodicals for Contracts in CRM7.0

I have a requirement to create Contracts in CRM7.0 system.
And I am doing this using the BAPI *BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CREATEMULTI*
Good part is Contract Order gets created, but onlywith Header Details.
The issues i am facing --
1. I need to know what kind/type of data must be passed to the interface parameters, the F1 Help/Documentation is vague.
2. I am passing data in the INPUT FIELDS structure with the Object ID, Handle Number, Reference GUID and Fieldname,
here what does 'Logical Key' field indicate? What should be passed here.
What does 'REFERENCE KIND' field indicate, i have been passng 'A' for everything (to be frank i dont know whats its significance is!!).
3. With so much, My Order gets created but with less than half details, i.e. the Objects not getting created are - Partner, Product, terms/appointments, Status, LongTexts......
Any help/inputs would be appreciated.

i found my solution by debugging with existing data or while creating it in CRMD_ORDER.
Ensure that you are passing a correct entry in INPUT_FIELDS structure.
As i haven't worked on rebates i woudlnt be able to help you, I suggest you debug to arrive at a solution.
You can preset your break-points at :-
1. FM - CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN
2. CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN_MULTI_OW -- Debug through the complete FM.
3. CRM_ORDER_PREPARE_MULTI_OW -- The data is set in this function module.

Issue in Creation of new Value Field in CO-PA
Hi,
I have a query in CO-PA Value Field Linking.
In my Development Client,
1. Created a New Value Field (No Transport Request Generated)
2. Linked to the above to new Conditon type created in SD. (Tranport request was generated) i.e. in Flow of Actual Values->Transfer of Billing Documents->Assign Value Fields
However then i try creating a new Value Field in my Production Client it throws a message 'You have no authorization to change Fields".
Is this an issue with authorization or i need to transport the Value field too from Development to Production client.
Please Advise.
