IDENTIFYING A CLIENT CONNECTION
IF ALL CLIENTS ARE CONNECTING WITH
THE SAME ORACLE USERNAME
Solution Description:
=====================
Use a SQL Query like this:
Select All SYS.V_$SESSION.OSUSER, SYS.V_$SESSION.USERNAME,
SYS.V_$SESSION.TERMINAL, SYS.V_$SESSION.PROGRAM,
SYS.V_$PROCESS.PROGRAM
FROM
SYS.V_$PROCESS, SYS.V_$SESSION
WHERE
SYS.V_$PROCESS.ADDR=SYS.V_$SESSION.PADDR;
The output looks like this:
oracle@squid (PMON)
oracle@squid (DBWR)
oracle@squid (LGWR)
oracle@squid (SMON)
oracle@squid (RECO)
Victor Gri SYSTEM OraUser Oracle Data Browser
(TCP Two Task) orapid: 6957
vgrigori SCOTT Windows PC C:\ORAWIN\BIN\PLUS31.EXE
(TCP Two-Task) orapid: 6962
usupport SCOTT pts/2 sqldba@tcaix
(TCP Two-Task) (TCP Two-Task) orapid:6968
oracle SCOTT ttyp1 sqldba@fleetwoo (Appletalk Two-Task)
(Appletalk Two-Task) orapid:6998
Notice that for the Mac client:
victor Gri SYSTEM OraUser Oracle Data Browser
The "Victor Gri" is the first 10 letters of the name entered in the File
Sharing Setup control panel on my Mac.
Notice that for the Windows Client:
vgrigori SCOTT Windows PC C:\ORAWIN\BIN\PLUS31.EXE
The "vgrigori" is the USERNAME- parameter of the ORACLE.INI
For the UNIX Client;
usupport SCOTT pts/2 sqldba@tcaix
The "pts/2" are the first 5 characters of the tty, which is not too
helpful, as the real tty in this case was pts/26.
1. What is the client machine locale? Is it Turkish by any chance?
2. Try using lowe case "user id" in the connection string instead of upper case "USER ID".

How to identify clients connecting to a database
Is there a way to identify all clients connecting to a database? We have a system with over 1000 client connections, and the application teams do not know what clients are installed on each server/client.
Does this help?

ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
guys,
i have a problem here with the connection between a client host and a server database, using a new non-default listener LISTENER_BKP_1. The error showed is:

i had learned about this error here before, and i toke some notes as follows:

this means that it didn't reach the resource limites yet. What i can do to solve the problem ???
another important information is that connecting by the default listener LISTENER instead of the LISTENER_BKP_1 listener, the connection is completed successfully. There's enough SGA memory space too.

ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connectionDon't do Oracle on Windows, so I'm not sure how the following relates to the Listener dealing with a dedicated server connection request on Linux/Unix.
On Linux/Unix, a dedicated server request means just that - a dedicated process has to be started to service that client. The Listener does it by using the parameters of the configured listener.ora service to execute +$ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle+. This process then starts up, and the Listener hands off the client connection for this process for servicing.
If there is a failure somewhere on this series of steps fail, the Listener throws the ORA-12518 exception. For example, the +$ORACLE_HOME+ has been incorrectly configured in listener.ora and it fails to execute and startup a dedicated server process.
And this relates to the underlying error you are seeing:
TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directoryI think that the Listener on Windows uses the CreateRemoteThread() Win32 call to start up the server process thread. However, it needs a valid process identifier (of the existing Oracle instance) for this call - and thus needs to first identify the Oracle instance process. Could be that this step uses a ORACLE_HOME reference. And if that directory path is not valid, it is unable to identify the process id of the Oracle instance and thus unable to spawn a dedicated thread to service that client. -
HOW TO IDENTIFY WHILE THE CONNECTION IS DISCONNECTED?
IN POP3 EMAIL CLIENT USING J2ME
HOW TO IDENTIFY WHILE THE CONNECTION DISCONNECTED IN RUNNING APPLICATION.
AND HOW TO EXIT, WHILE THE CONNECTION IS DISCONNECTED.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
edwardWHEN YOU TRY TO USE THE CONNECTION THAT IS CLOSED, YOU'LL GET AN IOEXCEPTION. TO CHECK THIS, YOU'LL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING LIKE POLLING IF THE OTHER SIDE IS STILL LISTENING BY SENDING IT AN ACK MESSAGE AT SPECIFIC INTERVALS. IF YOU GET AN EXCEPTION, THE CONNECTION WAS CLOSED.

Wlan client connects the second or third time
Hello Community.
Following scenario: If a wireless client switches from one Wlan to the Wlan with WPA2/AES Authetication on the same AP, the client doesn't connect at the first time. He has to click two, three or four times to connect until, in connects.
The WLC in installed at the central office, these problem occurs in a branch office, all AP's are in Flexccoenct mode. The switch betwenn Wlan that uses MAC Authentication and Web Authentication works fine, it works fine too if the client switches from the 802.1X Authentcation Wlan to the MAC or Web Auth. Wlan.
Wlan 1 = MAC Authetication
Wlan 2 = 802.1X Authetication
Wlan 3 = Web Authetication
The Wlan Switch betwenn these Wlan works., but if the client tries from one of these Wlan to the WPA2/AES Wlan it doesn't connects the first time.
Any idea ? Regards and thanks in advanceChoose to enable or disable the Fast SSID Change option. If the option is enabled, the client connects instantly to the WLAN between SSIDs without having much loss of connectivity. Normally, each client is connected to a particular WLAN identified by the SSID. If the client moves out of reach of the connected access point, the client has to reconnect to the controller using a different access point. This normal process consumes some time as the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server has to assign an IP address to the client.

Understanding of wireless client connection to multiple APs
Hello,
I would like to know how do wireless clients connect to APs
For e.g. if in a single floor square office space - wireless network with multiple APs exists on the same SSID, how do clients decide which AP to connect to. For e.g. the client may get similar strength signals from two APs close to each other (such as Excellent). Which AP does client connect to.
Secondly, how does the load distribution take place. For e.g. if on one AP, 10 clients connect and on the other AP, 20 clients connect, how can equal load distribution be acheived, that is 15 on each AP without the tiring MAC filtering configurations.
Thirdly, is there something like number of user/connection restrictions on APs. I have gone through some AP manuals and did not find any such specifications like max. # of users = 20 etc. Currently we are using D-Link AP and have noticed that once the # of connections go upto 20, performance reduces heavily such as the latency on gateway pings go upto 1000-2000ms.
Fourthly, how can I identify from the client to which AP it is connected.
Thanks.I would like to know how do wireless clients connect to APs

ANS - Its first come first serve... however.. sometimes if we have multiple SSIDs one with open auth and no encryption and other fuly protected.. then the client wil connect to the open rather the secured on.
Secondly, how does the load distribution take place. For e.g. if on one AP, 10 clients connect and on the other AP, 20 clients connect, how can equal load distribution be acheived, that is 15 on each AP without the tiring MAC filtering configurations.
ANS - MAC is a good option but apart from that.. i have seen somewhere but not able to remember the command which will limit the number of clients per radio..
Thirdly, is there something like number of user/connection restrictions on APs. ANS - AP can take upto 2048 MAC addresses.. its recommended not to have more than 24 clients per AP..
Fourthly, hw can I identify from the client to which AP it is connected.
ANS -If the clients are CCX compatible and aironet extentions enabled on the AP. then the command "show dot11 ass" will tell the clients connecting to which AP.. the AP name will get displsayed in the output..

Remote access VPN clients connected to Internet from VPN
Greetings,
I need to let remote VPN clients to connect to Internet from the same ASA VPN server
" client connects to ASA through VPN tunnel from outside interface then access Internet from the same ASA from outside interface again
thanksyou'll need to configure 'same-security-traffic permit intra-interface' on the ASA .
Also, need to setup the corresponding nat statements for your clients pool range.
i.e.
global (outside) 1 interface
nat (outside) 1 access-list anyconnectacl
where anyconnectacl is the pool for your clients:
access-list anyconnectacl permit ip 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.0 any -
regarding mountain lion server: clients experience intermittent service connections. the server system log has the following error- Client handshake failed (6):113: Server not accepting client connections. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you
Hi Jason
I was getting the same behavior after Apple support had me delete some plist files to get Airplay going. I was also getting the following error:
the error occurred while processing a command of type 'writesettings' in the plug-in 'server vpn'
I went into ~/Library/Preferences/ and /Library/Preferences/ and deleted every plist contating the word server. I had to re-set up my server (meaning walk through some intial steps) but all of my settings were still there after that and everything started working again.
Just a thought, obviously try at your own risk but it worked for me.

How to make the client connect to the server at the command prompt?
I found this code on IBM's website, it was a training session on servers and clients using java.
The code compiles fine and the server seems to start up properly when I use java Server 5000. I think whats happening is the server is running and listening for a connection on port 5000.
When I try to run the client I get the following error.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: main
I see a start() method but no main. As far as I know, applications should all have main, it seems as if the person who wrote this kinda confused applets with application. Not that I would really know what happened.
If you have time, could you tell me if there's an easy fix for this? I would love to have this client/server working if it isn't too much trouble. As I have looked all over the net for a free client/server applet that will actually let me see the java code and none of the free ones do allow getting to their source.
Most of them allow you to customize them somewhat but also have built in advertising that can't be removed.
This is the closest I have come to finding one that lets me look under the hood. But alas it doesn't work out of the box and I don't know what to do to fix it.
Heres the code: Server:
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.util.*;
public class Server
// The ServerSocket we'll use for accepting new connections
private ServerSocket ss;
// A mapping from sockets to DataOutputStreams. This will
// help us avoid having to create a DataOutputStream each time
// we want to write to a stream.
private Hashtable outputStreams = new Hashtable();
// Constructor and while-accept loop all in one.
public Server( int port ) throws IOException {
// All we have to do is listen
listen( port );
private void listen( int port ) throws IOException {
// Create the ServerSocket
ss = new ServerSocket( port );
// Tell the world we're ready to go
System.out.println( "Listening on "+ss );
// Keep accepting connections forever
while (true) {
// Grab the next incoming connection
Socket s = ss.accept();

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Internal outlook client connectivity in exchange 2010 when coexist with exchange 2013
Hi all ,
on my side i would like to clarify few queries.
Say for instance i am coexisting exchange 2010 with exchange 2013 .Unfortunately if all of my exchange 2013 servers goes down .
Q1 .On that time will the internal outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010 can be able to connect mailboxes without any issues ? In case if they face any issues what kind of issues will they be? Because why i am asking is we should have pointed
the autodiscover service to exchange 2013 during coexistence.
When an user closes and reopens the outlook after whole exchange 2013 environment failure ,outlook will first query the autodiscover service for the profile changes to get it updated on users outlook profile.In such case autodiscover service will not be
reachable and i wanted to know will that affects the internal client connectivity for outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010.
Q2. Apart from outlook internal users connectivity ,what kind of exchange services(i.e owa,active sync,pop,external OA and imap) will get affected when whole exchange 2013 environment goes down during coexistence ?
I have read the below mentioned statement on this awesome blog but still i wanted to clarify with you all on my scenario.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx<o:p></o:p>
Internal Outlook Connectivity
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2010, they will still connect to the Exchange 2010 RPC Client Access array endpoint.
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2007, they will still connect directly to the Exchange 2007 Mailbox server instance hosting the mailbox.
Please share me your suggestions and that would help me a lot .
Regards
S.NithyanandhamHi Winnie Liang ,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Scenario 1 : for internal outlook connectivity
We have below settings for exchange 2010 autodiscover.
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for internal autodiscover URI for all the exchange 2010 cas serves
We are going to have below settings for exchange 2013 autodiscover.
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for internal autodiscover URI for all the exchange 2013 cas serves
During coexistence mail.domain.com will be pointed to exchange 2013 cas servers . I mean to say if we try to resolve the mail.domain.com it will get resolved in to the exchange 2013 cas servers.
So on such case if anything happened wrong to the new environment or else if entire environment goes down .Do we face any issues while outlook users connect to existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 ?
Because why i am asking is ,on the below mentioned article i have read all the autodiscover request will go via exchange 2013 cas servers during coexistence.That means all the existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 will also have to query exchange 2013 cas
servers for autodiscover request.During the whole exchange 2013 environemnt failure whenever the user tries to close and open outlook .Outlook will first queries the autodiscover service for any changes happened on that particular mailbox and it will try to
get it updated on user profile.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx
Would it be possible to make the exchange 2010 mailbox users to query only the scp points which belongs to the exchange 2010 cas servers for autodiscover request ?
Scenario 2: For exchange services
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2010 services (i.e owa,activesync,external outlook anywhere,pop,imap)
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2013 services (i.e owa,activesync,external outlook anywhere,pop,imap)
What about the above services will it get affected during whole exchange 2013 environment failure ?
Note : We are not facing this issue , i hope everything goes well in my environment while doing coexistence i am just asking this question on my own interest?
Regards
S.Nithyanandham
Thanks S.Nithyanandham -
How to get clients connected in WMS on windows server 2008 with c# coding
Sorry to bother anyone about this question.
Can anyone knows how to retrieve amount of client connection to Windows Media Server in real time same as WMS does on server console by c# programming ?
I got logfiles of WMS in system32 directory for details but it must be off-line of all connections which will able to get those informations for doing anything,but in this case I want real time client connection
at online when a client connects to WMS that I will get amout of that client also.
I have tried to search Windows Media Service SDK to develop this on my Windows 7 OS,but I did not find that really.
Can anyone knows this,please ?
Regards,
BigBermHi SYaGCi,
Denis is right this is actually documented in the Supported Platforms Documentation:
"Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are new platform support additions in Service Pack 3 which are only available for support on the SP3 full release install of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. The SP3 patch only release of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise does not provide support for these two new platforms."
Kind regards,
John -
