Identity Manager and SAP 5.0 support?

Hi all,
does anybody know if the IDM will support SAP 5.0 (ECC 5.0)? Customer is using IDM + SAP HR ActiveSync adapter and wishes to upgrade their SAP 4.7 to "ECC 5.0". I don't even know what ECC 5.0 is, but it should be "SAP 5.0".
Will this version of SAP be supported?
Many thanks,
Ivan

Hi
IDM 6.0 supports SAP R/3 v4.5,4,6 ad 4.7 and SAP Enterprise Portal V6.20 SP2+
Thanks

    Hello LuongDK,
Please refer to the FAQ section on http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager, Check the installations section:
Which system should I use to install SAP Solution Manager?
The system has to be dedicated to the SAP Solution Manager. No other components can be installed on top of SAP Solution Manager.
SAP Solution Manager does not necessarily require separate hardware. It can be installed as a separate instance on an existing hardware.
This means that the hardware can be shared if it is sufficient to support 2 systems. However a MCOD option is not recommended at all.

  • Federated identity management  on SAP IDM

    Hi Guys
Does SAP IDM support federated Identity Management.  If so can you give some configuration documents or how exactly it is possible?.
Please shed some lights into this.
    Thank you.

    Hi All,
SAP support have confirmed the following.
SAP NetWeaver has some federation capabilities with varying
support in different components (SAML 1.1) SAML 2 support
is planned in a future release.
SAP NetWeaver Identity Management does not have federation
support on its own. This could be introduced in future releases.
Does Any one know how SAML 1.1 support Federation capabilities?  Which all sap netweaver platforms have them?

  • Difference between Identity Manager and Access Manager

    hi,
Can any body tell me the difference between Identity manager and Access Manager.
    thanks in advance
    regards

Access Manager is for access control (web authentication, authorization), Identity Manager is for identity (userid, profile, role, password etc) provision/management across multi resources (such as unix, active directory, peoplesoft, SAP) etc.

  • Difference btw SAP Records managements and SAP DMS?

can some one pls tell me wat is the difference between records management and sap dms...
    thank you.

    Hi Vivek,
perhaps some remarks to SAP Records Management. SAP Records Management (and SAP Case Management) is a powerful infrastructure for creating cross-component application since you can organize any SAP and Non-SAP information object as a record (tree) in a role based view.
One classical application is the HR personnel record. You collect documents (archived documents as well as DMS documents (with versioning)) together with personnel master data and other information. For each employee there is a record instance.
Another application is a machine record for a machine producer. It is a collection of SD objects and of engineering documents.
A record can also be business partner record collecting information about the business partner and for example other records that refer to the business partner.
Since SAP Records Management is designes as a Service Provider Framework you can integrate any kind of information objects both in SAP and in non-SAP systems.
So, also SAP DMS services can be wrapped as SAP Records Management service provider and hence be used in SAP Records Management applications.
The focus of SAP DMS is the handling of engineering documents and their behaviour in production. Based on SAP Knowledge Provider it is more a document management service.
SAP Records Management is stressing the aspect of building cross component applications and their business flow. SAP already provides a lot of standard service providers but you can also build your own service providers and hence integrate your own objects.
For more information, see the documentation and get a first flavour by starting the transactions ORGANIZER and SRMREGEDIT.
By the way in contrast to SAP DMS, SAP Records Management is part of NetWeaver.
    Best regards
    Torsten

    Hi.
    1) It is not "ISE loses the credentials and asks for web portal again". Once a user is authenticated, it is authenticated as long as it stays connected. Possibilities are :
-You are returning a session timeout (attribute radius 27) in the authz profile of the user. Therefore user has to reauthenticate after X seconds. But you would see a pattern, then.
-Over wireless, many clients are not capable of doing fast roaming (smartphones is the biggest example) and will therefore reauthenticate with dot1x everytime they roam. A small coverage hole would be enough for the cached credentials to disappear and web portal to show up again
-Over wired, this cannot really occur but the idea is that it's probably the switch resetting the connection and contacting ISE again. The idea to troubleshoot this is to monitor the access device (WLC/switch) and check if the port goes up/down, if the MAB session gets reset or something and why.
    2) The captive bypass issue is that Apple devices will probe apple.com website to check if there is internet connectivity. If they can reach it, then fine, if they sense that they are redirected, they open a small window pop up with the login portal. The problem (and I still cannot understand why) is that this is not Safari, it's some nameless feature-less browser that doesn't work properly.
By enabling the captive bypass feature, the WLC intercepts the requests to the Apple testpage and replies with HTTP OK. The apple device then thinks "ok I have internet connectivity" and it's up to the user to bring up a real browser to login to the portal page.
It therefore does not affect non-Apple device to have the feature enabled.
The problem is that in IOS 7.x, Apple decided to not just use Apple.com anymore but a whole list of testpages on different websites.
    3) "whether it would solve the issue if I added certificate authentication as a secondary option, with eap-tls as the primary"
=> This is disturbing because EAP-TLS is a certificate authentication method. But ISE message seems to imply that the user is hitting an authnetication rule that only provides PEAP or EAP-FAST with mschap or something similar ...
If you have the windows default supplicant you have close to no control on what the client will submit. I can imagine that moving from wired to wireless, the laptop would sometimes try to send password instead of certificate and/or vice-versa. Anyconnect with fixed network profiles would solve the problem elegantly.
I cannot comment on your auth policies as I do not know them :-)
    Regards,
    Nicolas

  • SAP Solution Manager and SAP Production Server on Single Host

We are rolling out our new infrastructure using high end Solaris Servers that have plenty of grunt.
I am looking at running SAP Solution Manager 7 and SAP Netweaver 6 on the same HOST using two Oracle databases.
We will use 10g and have 2 separate  transport volumes for transports. The Development and test environments will be very similar.
Appreciate any advise or thoughts. We are not looking at virtualising this particular environment.

Technically you can do that - yes. I could also imagine in installing the ERP on the bare metal and the SolMan in a zone, together with a processor set you can limit resource usage and you´re totally isolated from your production environment and will so make sure that SolMan is not stealing necessary resources from your production environment.

  • Knowledge Managament and  SAP HR Documents

    Hi all,
I have a requirement regarding Knowledge Management and the module SAP HR.
I need to figure out a way of seeing documents generated in SAP HR, using Knowledge Management in our Portal.
I did some research, and I think we can use DMS as a content server, then, using KPRO we connect the DMS to KM.
I need to know, if this approach is valid .... or if there is another way of doing this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Andres.

    Dear Biroj,
    Thanks for your answer ....
It gave me a good direction for our requirement ....
Anyways, I also found that DMS is not fully compatible with SAP HR. Did you find any problem when you where implementing this requirement?
As I said before, the main idea is to see SAP HR documents in KM, for example, information of the employees, etc.
    The points have been given.
    Cheers,
    Andres.

  • Is MS Identity Management for Unix / PW Sync supported in WS 2012 R2

We need to upgrade the AD forest DC servers and the FFL and DFL levels.
The current AD domain is a one-domain forest, with WS 2003 DC servers.
Our target is to install the newest Windows servers (WS 2012 R2) as DC's.
To make the job, we are going to promote new DC's first, then de-promo the old ones, and finally raise the DFL+FFL levels to the newest possible.
However, currently there are the MS Identity Management for Unix / Password Synchronization software in each of the DC's installed. To keep passwords in sync and thus the IDM to work, the software has to be installed to each of the new DC's, too.
    According to MS article
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731178.aspx
the pw sync can be installed to WS 2012 server.
    My question is that,
    - Can we go forward with WS 2012 R2 DC installation and assume that the pw sync can be used in them, too?
    - Or, do we have to install older DC servers (WS 2012)?
    Br,
    Kari Oikkonen
    Fujitsu Finland

We found the following TechNet article:
    Windows Server 2012 R2 Packages
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn452400.aspx
According to it, the psync package is still there.
One colleague also shortly tested with R2 server by installing it with
    Dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:psync /all
command, and the pw sync seemed to install OK.
So, we now are encouraged to install R2 servers for DC and psync.
    Br, Kari

  • Difference between Solution Manager and SAP CTS

    Hi,
I am having trouble understanding what is the difference between the two. Which tool is recommanded to use?
    Thx in advance,
    regards
Edited by: Bob Thiouwz on Apr 3, 2008 12:47 PM

    Hi,
search on SDN u will get more helpful answers.
Solution manager is a tool which is used for maintaing a project related documents.
    refer the below link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ce89c290-0201-0010-5985-dd64605111fd
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ce0b74e3-0601-0010-29a0-f2a6af98ef06
    /people/community.user/blog/2006/12/07/organize-and-perform-testing-using-solution-manager
CTS is the change and transport system used to transport Xi objects.
refer the bleow link for more detail:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80bbbd55-5004-2a10-f181-8bb096923cb6
The XI use case for CTS+ introduces a new transport handling mechanism that offers tighter integration for the transport of ABAP, Java, and Integration Builder objects (Integration Repository and Integration Directory) using the Change and Transport System (BC-CTS) functionality.
As your XI system requires both the ABAP and the Java stack of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, the following transport tools are available after installation:
    The ABAP transport environment (BC-CTS)
The file export and import mechanisms or CMS integration to transport Repository or Directory objects in your transport landscape
In addition, you might also have to transport Java development objects by using the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure itself.
The enhancements to CTS in combination with the SAP Solution Manager Change Request Management (ChaRM) address the following issues:
Synchronized transports for mixed systems (ABAP & Java)
A unified application for mixed system landscapes
Tracking of non-ABAP transports including Change Request Management
For your XI landscapes there will be one central transport environment with CTS+ where you can manage all XI-relevant transport objects from a single entry point.

  • Difference between ARIS Process Performance Manager and SAP BI

    Hi All,
I am searching for an answer on the following question: when the business purpose is to measure performance of E.g. a call center process. Can the Process Performance Manager from ARIS replace SAP BI.
    Regards,
    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
If I can add to the comment of Ajay,
I think that when your goal is to measure the performance of a Process and analyze root cause of performance problems, Process Performance Manager is best suited.
Even if SAP BI could do it as well, I think that SAP BI is best suited for data analysis like financial reports, Market studies ...
I think that the baseline is that SAP BI is a broader BI solution but ARIS PPM is best suited for process performance than SAP BI.

  • How to use Virsa with SAP  Identity Management?

I am not quite clear about the relationship between the 2 SAP products.

    Jennifer,
There is no product called virsa control by SAP. Virsa was a small company which made different solution for SOX compliance. It was acquired by SAP.
