IDES ERP 2004 Database Instance

Hi sdn gurus,
I am try to install the ides erp 2004, database(MS SQL 2000 enterprise edition).The central instance installation was successful but database instance is stalling at Database load(post processing stage)with an error in the log file as
sapparam: sapargv( argc, argv) has not been called. sapparam(1c): No Profile used. sapparam: SAPSYSTEMNAME ...
Can anybody give me an idea how to solve this problem Thankz in advance

The DB load part of the installation is lengthy so I suggest letting the installation finish and then try to start sap.
If the installation aborts during the load process , retry.

IDES ERP 2004 - System Requirements

I am about to install IDES ERP 2004 on a test desktop system and I would like to know if you have recommendation over the minimum system required.
I am installing it over XP professional.
I am installing it using minimum system landscape (AS + DB on the same machine).
This is what I was aiming for:
Single PROC, 3 Gb RAM, 500 Gb Disk. Am I too high?

Hi Satish,
I have sent you the ERP 2004 Master Guide and the ECC 5.0
installation guide. The IDES installation is same as a DB
instance installation. You have to select the IDES DVDs
for ECC 5.0 during SAPInst. For more on ERP 2004 guides
visit http://service.sap.com/instguides -> mySAP Business
Suite -> ERP -> ERP 2004.

IDES ERP 2004 installation / Solution manager

I am about to install IDES ERP 2004 on a test desktop system and I would like to know if I also need to install solution manager, any suggestions?

Welcome to SDN!
You can find the guide for ERP 2004 installation at
http://service.sap.com/instguides -> ERP 2004. Its
the same as a DB instance isntallation. You just have to
provide the IDES DVDs. No need to install the solution manager.

IDES ERP 2004 - LABEL.ASC

Hello,
I am trying to install an IDES ERP2004.
We get the whole installation package from SAP. We want to install on Windows Server 2003 R2
We have copied all DVDs in folders on the server.
During the installation we get the following error:
You entered c:\install\ides5_dvd3
Found the label MAXDB:750xx:RDBMS:MAX DB:CD51030928 but need the label MAXDB::RDMS:MAX DB::I386
What can we do?

The problem is solved. We renamed the labe
from
MAXDB:750xx:RDBMS:MAX DB:CD51030928
to
MAXDB::RDMS:MAX DB::I386
and it works fine.

Kernel _In_Page error when installing database instance on IDES 4.7e

Dear expert,
I was installing the database instance of the IDES 4.7e database instance and after 3.5 hour I received the blue screen of death with kernel_in_page_error memory dump.
The system was installed on one single physical sata drive with different partitioned.
My system have dual core 2.8ghz and 1 gig of RAM.
Does anyone have experience with this? Is it because I did not install the NT patch as required in the IDES 4.6c version?

I have solved the problem and have successfully installed IDES 4.7e.
There were a few things I did and so I am not fully sure what solved the problem.
But I think it is related to one of this:
- update of patches of OS
- add %JAVA_HOME%\bin to the system path
- copy all installation files and data to the C: hard
drive instead of using the dvd rom for the kernel dvd.

I also met the error. I doubt that it can not run the statement: exec sp_bindefault 'str_default','A305.KAPPL'. I want to test it manually, but I don't know the password of the user(same name as instance). anyone know it. In addition to, did you install the IDES on one virtual machine? I installed it on one virtual machine. someone thought that it cause the result.

MySAP ERP 2004 Installation with MS SQL server database

Hi all,
I m trying to perform the DB instance of mySAP ERP 2004 on a MS SQL Server, but during the process of SAPSSEXEC
the my MS SQL server stops and I the SAPSSEXEC.log files ends up with a fatal error:DB connection failed.
I stoped and restart the installation but the same error repeats. Can anybody try to help me out in this regard.

I am facing the same problem as you:
I have been installing ECC5 SR1. The Centrale Instance installation happened very well.
The problem is with The Database installation. At the phase 16 of 29, Database load, the R3load jobs take more than 21 hours and often finish with the following sql error message in the log files:
(DB) ERROR: DDL statement failed
(CREATE UNIQUE INDEX [DD03L~1] ON [DD03L] ( [TABNAME] , [AS4LOCAL] , [POSITION] , [AS4VERS] ) )
DbSlExecute: rc = 99
(SQL error 21)
I am working on :
- Windows 2003 server
- The DB is on
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)

IDES Installation - Database Instance for MS SQL

Hello,
I preveously posted this topic twice in the wrong area of the froum. So I just try again with little bit more knowledge. The problems I had (see history below) seem to be a run time problem (it only took really long). Now it ended up with the error that the startsap.exe could not be started (returncode -1). What could be the reason for that ?
Actually I think I have also a hardware problem. I was not able to find information about the needed HD space. In one SAP note I read that for the IDES on MS SQL 60 GB are needed. I do also have a problem with the topic database file configuration! How this is done in general and what about the files sizes ?

I want to install a IDES 2004 R1 / Netweaver 2004.
I am working on WIN 2003 Enterprise Server with a MS SQL DB. The Central Instance installation ended successfully. I get in trouble with the DB Instance installation:
--> The data to be filled in the sapinst tool was possible, the installation stops at the process step: MS SQL Database Layout. In the log the last Phase is "Setting up Server Phase" and the last two informations after are "Creating Directory", one for data and one for the log. In the explorer they are to see. In the data directory is even a file *.mdf.
Anybody who could tell me what I have to do for the installation ?

One more note: The information in the footer line of the Installation Wizard says: "Creating database <DB> / this can take a while ...
The while is a never ending while ...

Hei guys,
the reason why the installation did not continue was the fact that the dispatch+work process didn't started correct. Why it finally did after many reasons I couldn't find out 100% - searching in the SAP notes helped to only try a restart.
So after this I continued (new start of sapinst with "Continue installation") was leading to a success. This was a difficult birth.
Still the question about the needed database space is in my head ! ?? !

1. Check the CDs first.
2. D:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\ECC_50_ABAP_NUC\DB\IDES\Disc\DATA--> this will automatically created by sapinst command.

ERP 2004 IDES - Oracle DB installation not working

I'm in the process of installing ERP 2004 IDES in our test environment but I seem to have problems with the Oracle installation. I followed all the steps from the guides and double clicked the file sapserver.cmd but nothing happens, just a quick flash. Any suggestions / assistance would be appreciated.

You can start the oracle universal installer in 2 ways
1) by executing the script sapserver.cmd
2) by clicking the setup.exe from I386\install folder

MNLS - SAP 4.7 installation - database instance (IDES)

I am installing SAP 4.7. Now I am on a step in the installationprocess (installing database instance) where I must decide if I want to install with MNLS (Multi National Language Support) or without. Why does I need this option?
I would like to use the english and german language. Should I use the option MNLS?

Hi,
if you're only using one code page, you don't need to perform a MNLS installation. So if you just want to install German and English, don't install MNLS.

If possible could you please confirm that our planned landscape
migration is supported by SAP.
At present our PRD SAP system is a standalone instance that consists of
the database & central instance running on the same "HOST".
Current SAP PRD version:
ERP 2004 ECC 5.0 32 bit
MS SQL 2000 32 bit
both running on same host with OS Windows 2003 32 bit
We plan to upgrade/migrate our PRD SAP system to new 64 bit hardware
AND to move to a "Distributed" landscape installation i.e. database
instance & central instance installed on different HOSTS. Also, the
database instance WILL be clustered but the central instance will NOT
be clustered. There are also multiple NON-SAP MS SQL databases that
will run in the same cluster as the PRD SAP database instance.
SAP PRD version after migration:
SAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0 64bit (running on X86_64 AMD64 hardware) on HOST'X'
MS SQL 2005 64 bit (running on IA64 hardware) on clustered HOST'Y'
Both running on Windows 2003 64 bit
My questions are:
1) Does SAP support a clustered MS SQL 2005 database instance that is
running on a clustered HOST along with NON-SAP MS SQL databases?
2)During the migration our PRD SAP MS SQL database will be upgraded
from MS SQL 2000 32 bit to MS SQL 2005 64 bit IA64, is this also
supported in a clustered istallation (database instance ONLY)?
3) The central PRD SAP instance will be running on x86_64 AMD64
hardware & the database instance will be running on 64 bit IA64
hardware. Is this configuration supported?

Have you figured out the answer? We are trying do the exactly the same thing -- Move our SAP WAS 6.40 clustered central instance to a 64-bit hardware/SQL 2005/Clustered system. And this system has several non-SAP database on there. The biggest concern we have is whether SAP support this architecture. I posted a message here last year and several experts like Clas Hortien, N. P. C, in this form suggest NOT go to this architecture because SAP will not support it. One example, is that SAP/SQL requires server collation setting to SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2 and other databases may work on different collations.

Multiple database instance on one server

Hi experts
We are planning to implement ERP, BI, Solman, CRM and MDSD on windows/oracle platform. There is an idea about system landscape that all database instance of production systems are installed on one server and central instances of each system are installed on separate servers. Is there any performance or maintenance risk about this scenario? What is the advanteges and disadvantages of this landscape? Shall we prefer central system installation?

From experience one disadvantage in having an Oracle farm, is if the server plays up
or needs a reboot you of course lose all the systems databases.
Also getting all customers to aggree a maintenance slot together can be a pain.
Failover needs to be considered, DR also.
IMHO separate servers, but that is my preference I'm sure there are advantages.

It is not easy, really , it has taken many hours and at the End I got the problems,.
so I have decided to pay 20 $ every month, and I can get an access IDES to SAP, ERP, ABAP.
without any problem. In ABAP, I have only Sflight ,SBOOK etc. but MARA, and others tables, dont exist, .
I know, some students have not enough money, so what can we do? every one get problem with installaion and others after installaion, with server, 3 days work, and NSP becomes RED. Yellow, etc.
