IDES for Linux, Oracle RDMS
Hello Guys,
I'm a newbie on SAP world. I'm planning to install IDES Linux Verion with Oracle RDMS. I went to SAP Support Portal Downloads Installation & Upgrades\SAP Application\SAP ERP\SAP ERP 2004 and it gives me the entire list of files to download.
I'm not sure what are the necessary files needed for my machine X86 32bit. Do you guys have any information what are the important files needed for me to download?
Any information will be much appreciated.
Art
Thank you for replying.
I believe you can download SAP Application IDES for educational purposes only. This is like using the real SAP Application. I'm done installing it in Windows with Oracle, now I'm going to try it Linux.
Visiting SAP Support Portal under Installations and Upgrades -SAP Application Components-SAP ERP-SAP ERP 2004-Linux-Oracle you can see all the files which are very confusing.
Again thank you for your reply.

are there any coldfusion IDE's for linux similar to
Dreamweaver with coldfusion drag and drop tools, wizards, inbuilt
server behaviours? It can't, however, you can create snippets in CFEclipse that
will speed up your coding.
Here's a link to the help videos on CFEclipse.org
http://www.cfeclipse.org/index.cfm?event=page&page=TV
I use snippets often to save time so I don't have to type the
same basic code/functions over and over. I know it's not WYSIWYG
but it might help... -
Do i need the POST-INSTALLATION configuration for linux+oracle?
hello
i install the oracle10g on redhat9 box,JUST finish the installation,i open the Terminal windows, type ¨sqlplus¨ command, linux tell me ¨commnd not found¨. i guest the installer don´t set the env variable(in windows operating system, the installer automatically set the path variable during the install procedure).
i can SUCCESSFULLY access the browser console of em and isqlplus.
but after i restart the redhat, the browser can´t access both
em and isqlplus(connection reset).when i telnet the 5500 and 5560 port,i found that they haven´t be open.and i suspect that the oracle database haven´t been automatically started.
question 1:how can i MANUALLY start oracle after i restart the linux?
question 2:how can i config the oracle after the install to make it work perminently?or post-install configuration.
thank you very much!Oracle will not start automatically. You have to enter as oracle user and start the listener manually and then the database .
Command are like : lsnrctl start
Then , type svrmgrl ( the server manager console ) , connect internal , and then startup .
Later on you can write scripts for automatic startup of the database and listener .

Where I can get a free IDE for Java which isn't written in Java or scripts (I have tried some written in Java, but they ate too much memory.)
After reading your orginal question I did some more investigating on IDE for linux. In my previous experiance I haven't had much luck installing them, running them once installed, keeping them running once running. These seem to be the quality of Java IDEs written as freeware for Linux and not Java or Linux as a whole. After you asked your question I decided to give one more IDE a try. Jedit.
http://www.jedit.org/
The RPM installed right, the first time without intervention from me.
It supports plug-ins.
It does network installs of these plug-ins which was really cool and effortless
It does all the things you asked for in your previous post
It fails to meet one of your requirements... its written in java.
however it is running on my linux box now, while I'm streaming mp3s and hosting a low volume web site, running Kde.
My system is a AMD 950 with 256 meg RamRunning Redhat 7.2
I haven't written much in the way of applications useing jEdit but it does look promissing.

what is the best Java IDE for linux system
I use on three different projects three different IDEs: JBuilder, Eclipse and IntelliJ. I personally prefer IntelliJ, although Eclipse and JBuilder are very good products as well. If you need absolute stability, Eclipse is maybe a little bit early in development, on the other hand it is free and open source. Additionally it "feels" a little bit faster on Linux, because it does not use Swing but SWT which utilizes native controls.

8.1.6 install - Oracle 8i for Linux
I'm trying to install the Oracle 8i for Linux installation kit from the Osborne book.
You can stop laughing now.
Really, we're going to buy the full deal, but until that happens, we want to get a bit of a headstart. I'm using Hummingbird eXceed v6.2.0.0 as my X server; everything works fine except when I get to the second page of the installer, and NONE of the buttons at the bottom of the installer page (Next, etc.) appear.
Any ideas, folks?Oh, duh, fvwm.

Cannot gunzip .gz Oracle 9i files for Linux
I downloaded the 3 files for Oracle 9i for Linux. I followed the instructions to gunzip the files but they will not unzip as I get the following error:
gunzip: Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz: unexpected end of file
I've tried all there files and get the same error. I've also tried other decompression software and none of them work. Are the gz files bad? It took me 3 days to download them, but they came down ok and shouldn't be corrupted. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.Kyle, try testing to see what type of files they really are. eg. file <file name>. I had a similar problem, it turns out that they are cpio format not gzip. You should be able to extract the cpio archive using "cpio -idmvI /mnt/cdrom/Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz"

Can anyone help (Oracle themselves?)

Winrar error message is:

You are missing some required Linux files. When you install
Linux, pick the 'everything' option, then weed out the obvious
things you don't want (like the Serbian How-To's, etc.)
I say this because I ran into the exact same thing this past
weekend after picking and choosing which packages to install for
Linux. After re-installing with the 'everything' option, the
Oracle install went swimmingly. I wish I could tell you which
package in particular you are missing, but I never figured that
out.
