IDES Model Company Data

Hi:
I have recently installed SAP IDES 4.7, with a view to getting to grips with the SD Module (Config). Anyhow I was just wondering if anyone knows of any documentation and/or step-by-step guide for setting up a model company? By this I mean a model company, with all the master data, etc... thereby allowing for the SD modules to be implemented?
I suppose one could always make up a company, however I sure it would be far easier to have this aready prepared!
Thanks

Hello Oliver,
Follow the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/af/fc4f35dfe82578e10000009b38f839/frameset.htm">link</a>.
It is the SAP IDES documentation for all the demo scenarios that you can run in it. In your case I suggest following the Logistics then Sales and distribution path. It will lead you to a menu with a list of scenarios and data to use to replicate those scenarios.
Hope it helps.

    Hi
You can get every (most of) scenario in IDES-PLM. If you have ATC training material, you can study the exercises as it is. If no, go for generic approach.

  • Xcode, how do you take an app from an idea to a data model, data structure, or class structure?

    Hey everyone!
I'm a beginner xcoder and computer engineering sophomore and have literally spent every hour of the past few weeks reading as much as I possibly can about becoming a developer.
I've found plenty of documentation, and guides on how to do very specific things in xcode and objective-C but am still looking for more information on one topic; how do you decide which data models/structures/controllers etc to use?
I mean, you personally. I've been looking for a resource on this and have not been able to find one. I just finished Apple's iOS Developers Guide and they mention "choosing a data model" but do not describe them in much detail.
The following is what is provided in the guide:
    ● Choose a basic approach for your data model:
    ● Existing data model code—If you already have data model code written in a C-based language, you
can integrate that code directly into your iOS apps. Because iOS apps are written in Objective-C, they
work just fine with code written in other C-based languages. Of course, there is also benefit to writing
an Objective-C wrapper for any non Objective-C code.
    ● Custom objects data model—A custom object typically combines some simple data (strings, numbers,
dates, URLs, and so on) with the business logic needed to manage that data and ensure its consistency.
Custom objects can store a combination of scalar values and pointers to other objects. For example,
the Foundation framework defines classes for many simple data types and for storing collections of
other objects. These classes make it much easier to define your own custom objects.
    ● Structured data model—If your data is highly structured—that is, it lends itself to storage in a
database—use Core Data (or SQLite) to store the data. Core Data provides a simple object-oriented
model for managing your structured data. It also provides built-in support for some advanced features
like undo and iCloud. (SQLite files cannot be used in conjunction with iCloud.)
    ● Decide whether you need support for documents:
The job of a document is to manage your app’s in-memory data model objects and coordinate the storage
of that data in a corresponding file (or set of files) on disk. Documents normally connote files that the user
created but apps can use documents to manage non user facing files too. One big advantage of using
documents is that the UIDocument class makes interacting with iCloud and the local file system much
simpler. For apps that use Core Data to store their content, the UIManagedDocument class provides similar
    support.
I suppose my question boils down to, how do you decide which structures to use? If you can provide an example of an app idea and how its implemented that would be very helpful and much appreciated!
For example, to implement the idea of an app which allows users to progress through levels of knowledge of a certain subject and rewarding them with badges and such (this is not an actual app just a whim) how would one model that?
Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

    SgtChevelle wrote:

    Trial and error.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but that pretty much encapsulates it. There is some, but not much, good wisdom out there, but it takes a significant amount of experience to be able to recognize it. The software development community if currently afflicted with a case of copy-and-paste-itis. And the prognosis is poor.
The solution is to be brutal to yourself and others. Focus on what you need and ignore everything else. Remember that other people have their own needs and methods and they might not be applicable to you. Apple, for example, can hire thousands of programmers, set them to coding for six months, pick the best results, and have the end-users spend their own time and monety to test it. If you don't have Apple's resources and power, think twice about adopting Apple's approach. And I am talking from a macro to a micro perspective. Apple's sample and boilerplate code is just junk. Don't assume you can't do better. You can.
Unfortunately, all this takes time and practice. You can read popular books, but never assume that anyone knows more than you do. Maybe they do and maybe they don't. It takes time to figure that out. Just do your best, ignore the naysayers, and doubt other people even more than you doubt yourself.

  • Power view couldn't load the model or data source because the data source type is not supported

    Hi,
I have SQL 2012 standard edition in my local. I have developed SSAS & deployed in local. I have been asked to develop power view report in excel 2013 using this SSAS. But when I tried to do in Excel 2013 professional Plus, I am getting below error:
Power view couldn't load the model or data source because the data source type is not supported.
Does power view is supported in standard edition of SQL or it requires Business/Enterprise edition of SQL server?
    Thanks in advance

What type of SSAS install are you using?
PowerView in Excel 2013 currently only supports Tabular data sources.
Only PowerView in Sharepoint 2013 supports both Tabular and Multi-Dim data sources. (provided you have the required Sharepoint and SQL updates installed)

  • Modeling transaction data

    Hello all,
I have 2 questions that I was hoping to get an answer to:
    Question 1:
What is the normal way of modeling transaction data with a changing status in a BW system? Are there any links/threads to read?
I thought that transaction  idata would go into the DSO that any changes to transaction data would be recorded there (very granular) while the aggregation of data would be placed in the cube.
    Question 2:
For what reason would someone place a navigation attribute in the dimension of a cube?
    TIA
PS - this is for BI 7.0
Edited by: Casey Harris on Feb 4, 2008 10:15 PM

    Casey,
A couple of quick answers that aren't links:
    1)  Ideally BW 7.0 allows you to create an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), where you have granular data loaded to DSO's that then aggregate the data into cubes.    That is what we strive for.  In practice it doesn't always work out that way.  Do some searches on EDW and you should find some info.
    2)  Navigation attributes are essentially links to master data attributes.  By not putting them directly in a cube, you save a little bit of space in the cube.  The most common use of them that we have is when users tell us they want to filter on a field that is not directly in a cube, but is in the master data attributes.  We can then easily make that field a navigation attribute.  Otherwise if you wanted to add the field to the cube, you'd have to reload all the data, which can be quite painful.

  • Data Models and Data Flow diagrams.

    Hi  Gurus,
Can anybody brief me the concept of Data Models and Data Flow Diagrams and their development with illustrations. And is it a responsibility of a Technical or a Functional consultant..i.e to translate Business requirements and functional specifications into technical specifications, data flow diagrams and data models.
Your valuable answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Concept of Data Models
Data model or Data modelling is basically how you define or design your BW Architecture based on Business requirements. It deals with designing and creating a effcient BW architecture sticking to standard practices.

    Data Flow Diagrams
This show the path of data flow for each individual object in BW. How data dets loaded into that object and how it is going out of the object etc.
Right click on the data target > show data flow .
It shows all the intermdeiate layer through which data comes into that particular object.

This is done genrally in the designing phase itself by a Senior Technical Consultant with the help of a Functional consultant or a Techno=Functional consultant interacting with Business.

  • Add ship-to-party company data in ZXRSAU02

    Hi,
I got the following problem. The customer master data is extracted via 3 extractors into our BODS system:
    - 0CUSTOMER_ATTR - customer basic data, KNA1 table
    - 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR - customer company data, KNB1 table
    - 0CUST_SALES_ATTR - customer sales data, KNVV table
Ship-to-parties do not and will never have company related data (KNB1 table), therefore there will never be data in the extractor 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR. At the moment, this is causing problem in BODS because company related data is required at the moment.
I'm looking for a short term solution in ZXRSAU02 user-exit, to add a new (empty) company record to 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR, while I'm processing the 0CUST_SALES_ATTR extractor. I need only the customer number and company data, and these ones can be found in the sales data.
We will switch to full load mode of course, that will be not a problem.
Is it possible to add a record to a different extractor, that I'm processing?
    Thank you
    Tamas

    Hi Tamas,
I don't think you are able to add a record to 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR while processing 0CUST_SALES_ATTR. If you want to add a record to 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR, then you have to do it here in Enhancement RSAP0001 or BAdI RSU5_SAPI_BADI.
Alternatively, you could create a Generic DataSource (e.g. Function Module) to fetch this specific group of Ship-to Parties. It will be even more transparent from a data staging perspective,

  • Can I trial a product without entering company data, I want to use a product for College purposes?

    Hi,
I would like to trial Adobe Captivate 7.
I am currently doing coursework for my Accountany Apprenticeship, on using Excel.
As I am doing this for personal reasons and I don't have authority to enter company data for any reason, I was wondering how I would register for the free trial without entering this type of data.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
To activate the trial, you only need an Adobe ID. That doesn't really require to enter a company, you can put 'Student' or 'Freelance'..
Be careful: published projects with a trial version will expire after 30 days or so.

  • Differences between operational systems data modeling and data warehouse da

    Hello Everyone,
Can anybody help me understand the differences between operational systems data modeling and data warehouse data modeling>
    Thanks

    Hello A S!
What you mean is the difference between modelling after normal form like in operational systems (OLTP) e. g. 3NF and modelling a InfoCube in a data warehouse (OLAP)?
While in a OLTP you want to have data tables free of redundance and ready for transactions meaning writing and reading few records often, in an OLAP-system you need to read a lot of data for every query you do on a database. Often in an OLAP-system you aggregate these amounts of data.
Therefore you use another principle for these database scheme. This is called star schema. This means that you have one central table (called fact table) which holds the key figures and have keys to another tables with characteristics. These other tables are called dimension tables. They hold combinations of the characteristics. Normally you design it that your dimensions are small, so the access  on the data is more efficent.
the star scheme in SAP BI is a little more complex than explained here but it follows the same concept.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Multiple Company data on 1 HTMLDB database

    Hi,
I would like to find out the options for having multiple company data stored in a database with 1 HTMLDB schema. I have used VPD before and this is an option but I would like to know what HTMLDB can handle without requiring application changes. Naturally a separate database altogether will work but administation will become a nightmare as the number of companies grow. So, I tried by importing a blank export of the current data schema, creating a new workspace that points to this new schema and then importing the current application into this new workspace. This seems to work but I am not sure this is the best approach. Multiple workspaces = Multiple applications. I have used "alter user set current_Schema" before but am not sure how this could be implemented with HTMLDB as there may be schema.object references in the code HTMLDB code and also the custom table APIs we have.
So if anyone has done this with HTMLDB can you pse advise what your approach was and any drawbacks you've encountered. I am also not keen on the multiple workspace approach as the workspace and application ID's are then different from UAT and PROD.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brandon

Thanks for the feedback, I have also used VPD before on a project but ran into serious perfomance issues but I don't think the approach was quite correct as they had policies on transaction tables which caused problems.... Anyhow, firstly getting an upgrade to Enterprise edition is not on just yet but I will def push the VPD approach. One question :-
    Michael, regarding :-
"We've added a column to every table in the application and we have a profile installed so for each workspace you only see the data that is relevant to you're "Company""
Are you using multiple workspaces for the same application so that you can create and manage separate users and privilges per company , if not then why are you using separate workspaces as don't you then have duplicated applications with different workspace Ids and app ids etc.
Also, what do you mean by "we have a profile installed" - Are you setting a company context for each user on login and then using this context in the policy ??
    Thanks again.....

  • How to model hierarchical data?

I need a way to model hierarchical data. I have tried using an object so far, and it hasn't worked. Here is the code for the class I made: http://home.iprimus.com.au/deeps/StatsGroupClass.java. As you can see, there are 4 fields: 1 to store the name of the "group", 2 integer data fields, and 1 Vector field to store all descendants. Unfortunately, this this not seem to be working as the Vector get(int index) method returns an Object. This is the error I get:
    Test.java:23: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol  : method getGroupName  ()
    location: class java.lang.Object
          echo("Primary Structure with index 0: " + data.get(0).getGroupName());
                                                            ^
1 error I figure I can't use the approach I have been using because of this.
    Can anyone help me out?

Test.java:23: cannot resolve symbolsymbol  : method getGroupName  ()location: class java.lang.Object      echo("Primary Structure with index 0: " + data.get(0).getGroupName());                                                        ^1 errorYou need to cast the return value from get(0):
((YourFunkyClass)data.get(0)).getGroupName();Be aware that you're opening yourself up to the possibility of a runtime ClassCastException. You could consider using generics if you can guarantee that the data Vector will contain only instances of YouFunkyClass.
    Hope this helps

  • How to model this data

In the sample data below, there are rows that contain header names, followed by a row with the data.
The problem is that some of the "header" column values change.  They represent "sizes" boxes.
    Name | BoxType | Color | Qty | 45 | 11 | 13.5
    Compx | F | Red | 32 | 1 | 0 | 34
    Name | BoxType | Color | Qty | 75 | 11 | 12.5
    QuickMartZ | G | Blue | 68 | 13 | 7 | 77
    Name | BoxType | Color | Qty | 75 | 11 | 45
    QuickMartZ | F | Blue | 22 | 17 | 72 | 12
How could I model this data or re-shape it into a schema such as
    Table
    =========
    AccountName
    BoxType
    Color
    Qty
    Size
Ultimately I need to be able to extract a "rolled up" count of the boxes by size and their quantity
    Something like this
    AccountName
    BoxType
    Color
    Qty_Size1
    Qty_Size2
    Qty_Size3
    Qty_Size4
    Qty_Size5
    Qty_SizeN...

Without some value which links the two rows together (other than the order of rows how do we know the box in the line above Compx belongs to it?) I don't think this is going to be possible as a set based solution.
You could use a cursor to move through the rows RBAR:
    DECLARE @table TABLE (name VARCHAR(20), boxType VARCHAR(20), color VARCHAR(20), qty VARCHAR(4), col1 INT, col2 INT, col3 FLOAT)
INSERT INTO @table (name, boxType, color, qty, col1, col2, col3)
