IDES model company to test PLM scenarios

Hi Team,
Is any IDES model company available to test PLM scenarios. Please suggest I am from PP/QM background & trying to develope my skills in this area or else suggest me how to start up with.

You can get every (most of) scenario in IDES-PLM. If you have ATC training material, you can study the exercises as it is. If no, go for generic approach.

IDES Model Company Data

Hi:
I have recently installed SAP IDES 4.7, with a view to getting to grips with the SD Module (Config). Anyhow I was just wondering if anyone knows of any documentation and/or step-by-step guide for setting up a model company? By this I mean a model company, with all the master data, etc... thereby allowing for the SD modules to be implemented?
I suppose one could always make up a company, however I sure it would be far easier to have this aready prepared!

Follow the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/af/fc4f35dfe82578e10000009b38f839/frameset.htm">link</a>.
It is the SAP IDES documentation for all the demo scenarios that you can run in it. In your case I suggest following the Logistics then Sales and distribution path. It will lead you to a menu with a list of scenarios and data to use to replicate those scenarios.

IDES and Model Company

I have installed IDES, and the model company data is not available. How to access Model company data? Im using SAP* and DDIC to enter into the IDES. Please provide steps in creating SAP user ID. Im particularly interested in using pre defined user id and the profile as mentioned in IDES help.

Is model company data accesible only using this USER ID and Profiles.
When I enter using SAP*, IDES shows only company code 0001. Apart from that no other data is available as stated in IDES examples.
I want to learn SAP SD through the IDES Model company. Please help...

Model entry point 'test uuts' could not be executed error -18002

Hi,
I am running a testand(2.0.1f1) sequence of labview (7.0) steps and it is working perferctly in my computer , but when installing testand and labview in another computer and I try to run my sequence the next message appears. "model entry point 'test uuts' could not be executed error -18002"
Is anyone that has an idea of what is happening here?

Hi Eren,
You might try mass compiling the TestStand folders so that all VI's are at the same Version. TestStand 2.0.1f1 installs VI's that are at ver5.1.1
When you run from the Entry Point eg "Test UUTs", before the sequence executions all VI's in all the sequence contained in the sequence file are loaded in to memory.
Look at the error message again, it should be telling you which step in which sequence of the sequence file is not executable.

Your Question is open and very general as PLM is very vast and depends on the scenario?
Any way i will just try to explain you:
PLM has many parts i.e. PDM (Product Data Managment) which comprise of Material master, Bill of Materials, Document Management System, (If any CAD Interface with DMS, or MS Word or MS Excel Integrations with DMS as templates), Engineering Change Management, Order Change Management, Classification System.
All these are with in SAP R/3 and you have configure as per the business requirement and integration b/w these objects (MM, BOM, DIR etc) are very important and needs lot of ABAP help as it involves Function Modules, enhancements, etc as per needs again.
PLM also comprise of CFolders, Cprojects which are the Plug In to R/3 and works on Intranet and Internet again depending on the Requirement of Customer/Business.
To work on Cprojects it is important to have PS knowledge but not mandatory,
Again based on the Scenarios it depends the Integration of CFolders & Cprojects with your existing R/3 PS, DMS, BOM, MM, etc.
Any SAP Functional guy can handle PLM, but with some knowledge of Functional MOdules, enhancements etc with some Innovative Ideas.
There might also be some Workflow requirement in DMS and ECM which will be controled and authorized based on Statuses.

Correct idea to scale out testing environment and test service pack2 installation

I have a sharepoint 2010 farm it has one sharepoint server, one database server
In one server below services are running
Central administration service
SharePoint Server Search
User Profile Service
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
so i want to scale out this form to
1 application server
1 web front end server
1 Search server (index server)
1 databse server
here how i scale out to this form
1)here how i move sharepoint server search service to new index server and
2) here how i move Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to new webfront end server
and in this single server some web appllications are running also how i move these to new wf server
i want to do like this because i want to test service pack 2 installation, now sharepoint version is : service pack1
my actual production environment has
2 application servers
2 webfront end servers
2 index servers
1 databae server
so this correct idea to scale out testing environment and test service pack2 installation

The link below describes how to scale SharePoint Web Front-End with only web applications and the search query server out of one SharePoint server with all roles running.

Now you have two SharePoint server with:
Tier 1 – SharePoint Server dedicated as a Web Front-End (WFE) with only the web application(s) and the search query service running on it
Tier 2 – SharePoint Server dedicated as an Application Server with all of the other service applications running on it, but no web applications or query service
Tier 3 – SQL Server for the databases
Then you would scale out WFE server with web applications from tier1. Now please install a new SharePoint server and join it to the existing farm and deploy it as Web Front Server. Enable the relevant services on Web Front servers per the topology picture
below, and stop the services running on the old server.

How do I test a scenario without getting the other party involved?
I have created a scenario to receive information from an external system (Remedy), processing through a SoapAdapter into SAP to create a service order. How can I send a sample of information in order for me to test my scenario without asking the Remedy people to transmit data all the time?

Doubt regarding testing Soap scenario (HTTPS)

Hello Experts,
I have a scenario where a Bapi functionality(server proxy) is exposed as a webservice .
So scenario will be SOAP -> XI -> Proxy (calls a BAPI).
I need to use https for this scenario. I have read most of the blogs and threads regarding this and will proceed accordingly.
I have a simple doubt :
After configuring a scenario to *only* accept a Soap message with appropriate valid certificate -
If I have to test my scenario using XML spy, how can I attach a certificate to Soap request in XML spy?
Or is their any feature available in XMl spy or in Xi itself to do these kind of test?
or please suggest me a work around to test the scenario configuration with certificates.

I would like to know :
What happens when a check for certificate validation fails in XI? It may be due to invalid certificate, expired certificate or a request from unauthorised user-
- Will it be raised as a exception and we need to do some configuration to inform it back to Sender?
- Will the message fail in Moni with red flag ?
- Alerts will be created ?
Please share your experiences and expert sugestions.

Sample received from external company for testing

Hi folks,
My client is a testing laboratory where they receive samples from external company. Tested results are sent back to the customer along with a test certificate and is billed for the testing carried out.
I have two things to clarify
1) how is the sample receipt to be taken
2) How the customer to be billed with respect to the testing done

For your 1st query ---
Posting Goods Receipt for Serviceable Materials
Use
You post goods receipt to record that the serviceable materials have arrived at your plant. You can also record receipt of other goods such as loaner items.
Prerequisites
You require a repair order in which you have recorded the customer's repair request.
Procedure
Choose Logistics ® Customer Service ® Service Processing ® Order ® Customer repair ® Returns delivery.
On the Create Returns Delivery screen, enter the following information:
Number of the repair order in the Repair order field
You can search for the appropriate repair order using the RMA number.
Delivery type in the Delivery type field
In the standard system, delivery type Returns delivery (LR) has been defined for this purpose.
Number of the shipping point in the Shipping point field
Choose Enter.
You reach the overview screen where you can post goods receipt by choosing Edit ® Post goods issue.
Save the delivery.
For the 2nd part solution mentioned above is correct . You need to implement some of the CS module part here for your requirement.

For File you need to check the flow in SXMB_MONI and in RWB (COmponent Monitoring---> Adapter Engine ---> CC monitoring)....and then check your target folder if the file is properly placed or not...

For this purpose, search already existing idocs in WE02 or WE05. Take that Idoc number and go to test tool WE19 and push it from WE19.

what i have understood is
1)ur scenario is synchronous FILE to RFC
2)U dont want to use BPM....
But i dont think....its possible without BPM.
since FILE adpater are asynchrnous...
one thing u can do...u can do it for testing purpose.
create the synchronous scenario...u can see the respose in moni.... but no reponse can be written...
u can do it in 2 asynchronous scenarios (FILE to RFC and FRC to FILE). also .but.. i dont think its possible to link/automate these.

hi,
you need to be more specific:
1. are you trying to create w web service exposed by XI?
(then you need a SOAP test tool - like stylus studio etc)
2. or maybe you want to call a web service from XI
then you can do an HTTP - SOAP scenario
and you don't need any toos except the http adapter test tool
which can be found on XI FAQ page (link below)
basicall these are your two options

HI,
Go to IR --> Mapping (Test tab)
Enter some test values in the outbound interface and copy the xml format of that (payload)
Go to --> ID
Tools ---> Test Configuration
Here you provide all the details like Sender / Receiver System . Sender (Outbound Interface)
In the payload area , paste the xml that we have copied form the IR mapping.
left press the red tab with down arrow mark to execute the scenario, if every step is fine it would give a green tick if not if would higlight with red and display the error below.
