IDES on LAPTOP

Hi,
I want to purchase a laptop and install SAP-IDES on it for studies purpose.
There are 3 issues which I would request the forum to help me.
1. the configuration of Laptop which will support the IDES Installation and proper running
At present I am thinking HP / Lenovo Laptop with Intel core duo processor/512 MB RAM & 80GB harddisk.
Please let me know whether with this configuration, I can install the SAP IDES?
2. From where I can purchase SAP IDES to install on LAPTOP & what shall be the approximate cost of it?
3. Apart from IDES, I believe I will require SQL/ORACLE database server as well. Please confirm
Thanking you in anticipation,
Santosh Kumar Agarwal

compared to oracle ,sql server consumes less resources and easy configuration , for a ides version of ECC 5 you atleast 1gb of ram (As  most laptops support up to 2gb) and atleast 160gb of hard drive space ,you may not find a laptop with 160gb of hard drive so better go for a external hard drive and put your data and log files in this hard drive

  • Cheap SSD solution for Pismo (and other IDE/ATA laptops)

I have a Pismo 400 that is now relegated to web surfing duties for my children and not much else. The original Fujitsu 6 Gig hard drive was sounding more and more like farm machinery, so I thought I'd try a do it yourself solid state drive instead of picking up a laptop drive that'll never be filled up and is pretty much obsolete for any other purpose.
There's a store on eBay that sells adapters for Compact Flash memory cards so they can be plugged in as a 2.5" IDE hard drive. This places sells them for $5 Canadian with free shipping from Hong Kong, whereas in Canadian stores these are around $25. I ordered one and it came in about 10 days.
I went to a computer parts store and purchased the cheapest 8 Gig CF card listed as 133x. It came to just under $30 Cdn including taxes.
The adapter seems to have one more pin on the IDE side than the original drive (or the Mac socket has holes), but the socket on the Pismo has a rubber spacer (rather than hard plastic) so you just plug them in.
After a typical for Pismo exhausting 1-2 minute installation process, I fired it up. It didn't see the drive when I booted with an OS X 10.3 install disk. I suspect if I'd used the original OS 9 CD it would have found the drive, which was formatted FAT. I pulled the CF/IDE combo out and plugged it in to a USB/IDE adapter and formatted the card on my MacBook. Back in the Pismo the drive was found and I installed OS 9 and 10.3 and updated them to 9.2.2 and 10.3.9.
The card and adapter aren't attached to the Mac and just hang off the end of the ribbon cable in the drive cage. If I were hauling the Pismo around a lot I'd make up a foam wedge to keep it from moving too much.
I haven't done any speed tests. It runs Safari and doesn't feel any slower. Waking from sleep should be a lot quicker.
The nicest thing is the Pismo is now silent.
There are bigger and faster CF cards, but they cost a lot more.

I have been wanting to try this for a while, but not on my Pismo, Lombard or Wallstreet which all run OSX but on my older 3400 or 1400.
Would they work running OS8 or 9 on the CF card ?

    Hi Prasad
    1. I am not sure about Windows 8.1 OS supports, but you can select the latest version of SAP ECC ERP6 EHP7.

  • G580 Laptop battery charging slow

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, My laptop battery seemed to be going downhill as it only lasts 30 minutes fully charged and took a long time to recharge so I replaced it with a new one which was a longer lasting 8800mAh. I also replaced the charger with a new genuine lenovo charger. But the new battery still seems to take a long time to recharge so I'm not sure what it could be. Could it be any of these:I recently upgraded my CPU and RAM to make it faster, could it be draining the battery too much? even though it seemed fine the first few weeks after upgrading.Could the new battery take longer to recharge anyway?I also noticed it after cleaning the fan out. have I not put something back together properly? Any ideas would be grateful Many thanksDale

    Hi Daleg,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with not powering on in your Lenovo G580 laptop.
Try to perform the battery gauge and check for the issue, to perform the gauge reset go to energy manager and select maintenance and guide option under this tab select gauge reset under battery gauge reset option and check for the issue.
Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.
    Best regards,

  • Server Installation fail

    Hi,
I try to install this new server at a a macbook (Aluminium 13'', Late 2008, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, Mountain Lion 20.8.3), but, afte hoours and hours of delay the configuration not finish. I stop the application and I try it again, but, this time after the "Apple Push Notifications" ([email protected], password), the "Configuration Services" not proceed.
    Any idea?

Laptops aren't a good choice for server, but you'll need a fixed IP address (not DHCP) and you'll definitely need DNS services and the local network working before you proceed along to getting push notifications for various services.  (Push notifications in OS X Server are NOT the same notifications that Apple uses with iOS devices, too.)  To verify the initial set-up, launch Terminal.app from the Applications > Utilities folder, and issue the following non-descructive diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll need to enter your administrative password for the sudo to succeed.  The output from that command will provide some information on the host, then whether DNS is working and correctly configured, or if changes are required.

  • Satellite L300D-135 - Certain keys stop working after several minutes

Satellite L300D-135 (PSLC8E-02P013EN) model laptop, on cold boot the keyboard is fine. As things warm up the R and Y keys stop responding as do the 7890 keys. Might be heat related.
The keyboard has been replaced but both old and new do the same thing, so it's more like a controller problem. Have flashed BIOS to latest as saw mention of keyboard issues in one of the BIOS releases. End user has been tolerating this for some months but dyslexic child now needs to use laptop and cannot cope with dead keys.
Any ideas? Laptop is 2 weeks out of warranty and end user just asked me to take a look, problem has been around during warranty period.
    Phil

    Hi Phil
Can you notice the same issue if you connect an external keyboard or does this happen only with an internal one?
I cant imagine that this has something to do with the heat but if you want you can clean your notebook using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.
If not you have to replace the whole keyboard. Normally its not so expensive so dont worry about this. You can also ask your ASP if they can repair it as gesture of goodwill.

  • Newbie wants to install Oracle on Linux

    Hello there
As a novice, I'm keen to get cracking on installing Oracle on
    Linux.
As yet I have not purchased a copy of Linux. I intend running my
setup on an IBM 560E Thinkpad with 80 Meg of RAM.
I'm interested to hear opinions on which versions of Linux
would result in the least hassle and / or most functionality etc.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi John,
I'm also quite new to linux/"free OS". The first thing you will
need to do is get a Linux distribution. I personnaly tried 3
different ways : Slackware, Red Hat and FreeBSD (which is not
linux, but is in some ways compatible with linux binaries).
The best I can say is : If you are new to linux, take Red Hat as
it is most simple and straight forward to install. Drawback : you
need 450 MB disk space for installation as Red Hat install you
everything you need (and perhaps more than that) to have a
running workstation (including a running X Window GUI and lots
of programs). And that is also the + point of Red Hat. To give
you an idea, I felt Red Hat easier to install on my Compaq
    Presario than any Windows...
On the other hand Slackware is far more flexible if you know what
you are doing... (so was FreeBSD a year ago when I tested it).
Finally, you mention that you will be installing on a laptop. I'm
not sure that the best idea since laptops are not among the
easyest to configure. Be sure to check www.linux.org (in the
material compatibility section) where the could have some good
tips to get you up and running.
I haven't installed Oracle yet so I cannot say much on this.
    Cheers

  • IBM ThinkPad 390 2626 HDD volume limit

What is maximum HDD capacity for IBM ThinkPad 390 2626? Can I use 30 GB Toshiba MK3021GAS HDD with my 390?

    Welcome to the forum!
Yes, you can use a 30GB drive, as long as it's PATA/IDE and laptop size.

  • Weird battery behavior

A week ago while running on battery power my machine shutdown with no warning. I couldn't get it to power up until I plugged in the charger. My battery indicator at that time said "0" but I had been running on somewhere north of 70% when the shutdown occured. It obtained a full charge, according to the indicator, in about 20 minutes, which is unheard of for me when starting from zero.
Today, again while running on the battery, my machine hung for just a couple of seconds when I opened it and was about to resume work. (I hadn't logged out or put it to sleep prior, but simply closed the display, which is what I generally do when security isn't an issue.) I noticed almost immediately that my battery indicator read "0" where I would have expected it to be close to fully charged. Nevertheless, the machine didn't power down, and I used it for several minutes before rebooting to see it rebooting would reset the power indicator. It didn't. I used it for a few more minutes, then did a full shutdown. When I returned to the machine an hour later, it wouldn't power up until I switched to a different battery.
I have practically no experience with laptops and battery issues. This particular battery is less than a year old. This all reminds me of mobile phones I've had in the past that would suddenly power down or refuse to power up because the battery had become loose from use. A temporary fix for that was a business card wedged between the phone and the battery, but I don't think that's a great idea with laptop.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience?
I'll keep you posted as the situation plays out.

There are known issues with the MBP batteries, which resulted in Apple extending warranty coverage for batteries to two years for all Core Duo laptops (they did not extend C2Ds, but those are all still under warranty). That extension is described on the linked page below, along with the statement "Apple has recently discovered that some batteries used in its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks may have battery performance issues."
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
Check your cycle count in Utilities > System Profiler > click on Power. If the Full Charge Capacity is less than 4400 mAh for a 15" MBP or less than 5000 mAh for a 17" MBP, the battery is failing. Also check the cycle count. If you have more than 300 cycles on your battery, Apple will tell you that your battery is failing normally, and you will need to buy a new one. If you have less than 300 cycles on the battery, based on the symptoms you describe they will replace if for free (as they did for my 15 month-old out-of-warranty MBP).
    Hope this helps...

  • Spotlight and finder not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi,
    I just upgrade to 10.10.1 from 10.8 on a Mid 2012 Retina macbook pro, 2.7Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD drive.
Since upgrading spotlight and finder have stopped working.  When I first upgraded I noticed it worked very briefly and found some of my applications, but now nothing.  The only thing it does is find the definition of the word I am searching for,
    I have
gone in to sys pref > spotlight added and remove all folders and rebooted the machine
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and ensured no folders are in that pane
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and added "documents folder" closed sys prefs rebooted and then removed "documents" folder to try and trigger a re index
gone to terminal and typed "sudo mdutil -E /" which should erase and rebuild the index but i get the error back "Error: Index is already changing state.  Please try again in a moment"
gone to terminal and typed "sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist" and then typed "sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist"
go to disk utility and verified my disk which comes back as showing no errors
logged in as another user but spotlight and finder still not working
Any other ideas my laptop is useless for work if I can't find anything,
    Thanks

unfortunately I this is still not working, thanks for the link Eric i tried those options, but still the problem remains.
I can clear the cache and re index my mac, and while the system is re indexing spotlight works and I can find material during the reindex.  This is obviously limited to the files that have been indexed at the point of using spotlight.
Once indexing has finished if I go to spotlight and try to search for anything, there are no results only the dictionary appears.
At the moment I have to delete the index cache every morning to trigger a re index so I can work, this is terrible and the worst upgrade experience I have had with any OS mac or windows

  • No audio output device is installed message on dv9925nr upgraded to windows 7.

I have no sound on my hp dv9925nr.  Red X on speaker icon in task bar and "no audio output device is installed" when I hover over icon.
This did not happen immediately upon updating OS to Windows 7 Home (64 bit), but occurred shortly thereafter.  I have no sound device in Device Manager.
Sound worked intermittently for a while, but no longer works at all.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

I'm having the exact same problem. The problem arose randomly, and when I checked my computer's devices there was a device in "other" called 'High Definition Audio Bus' that had been installed (without my knowledge) right before my computer lost sound.
What had happened was my computer was running extremely slow all of a sudden and so I restarted it and when it restarted I had no sound. Because this device was installed on my computer immediately before the sound stopped working I assumed it was the cause of the problem and uninstalled it.
It didn't solve the problem, niether did installing the driver you posted a link to, it just posted an error message that read: "Could not find the device for this driver"
I'll try reinstalling the necessary drivers for my computer, which leads to my next and much more insignificant issue: How do I find the product name of my laptop? it's an HP Pavilion g series, and it lists the serial number and product number but from this list http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodSeries... I have no idea which laptop is mine. How can I find out?
