IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0 when drilling

Hi guys,
I've got a data warehouse system using discoverer plus as a front end. At the moment it is in UAT. The tester has pointed out that when he drills down on certain reports, the gets the following error: IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0
However, when he restarts discoverer plus, the error goes away periodically.
What could be causing this?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

Hi Chris
You got a trainer and they are training on the video store tutorial? Wish I could get away with that! :-)
If the trainer is reporting that there were some java cache problems, this certainly isn't helping the overall situation. Did you happen to find out what he/she meant by a java cache problem?
Last year, I published some information about adjusting some of the Sun Java's settings. Here's a link: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2006/06/lost-or-grayed-out-icons-in-discoverer.html
I also now recommend that you have an absolute minimum of 1Gb of memory on the client PC. The optimum is 2Gb and I would definitely recommend that if you can do it.
I'm not 100% certain that altering the cache setting will definitely fix your issue but it is definitely a good place to start.
If you're willing to try altering the settings and then back to me, we can see where we are at that point.
Best wishes

  • Discoverer Plus - IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0

    I have encountered error: IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0 when i'm trying to create a report in Discover Plus that has 3 parameter fields. If i put values in the 3 fields, the report will generate, however, if i put a value into only 1 of those fields and leave the other 2 parameters blank, this error occurs.
    Please help me.

    Hi
    Presumably the parameters are mandatory parameter? In this case you need to supply a value to all three. You cannot leave a mandatory parameter blank.
    By the way, which version of Discoverer Plus are you using? You can use About | Help to see which version you have.

  • IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0

    In Discoverer 10g (10.1.2) Discoverer Plus users are getting IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0 when they try query. An extensive search for this error has turned up nothing. Can anyone tell me what this error means and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
    my users are getting this error when they try to share a workbook . initially when they run a query they will get "an error occured when trying to run the query" . my verison is 9.0.4.45.3 .we are in the midway of upgrading to middleware 11g . but the present production is givng the problem .
    this error started after a outage .where a datafile got corrupted and the discoverer scheduelr went offline . we have droped all the indexes(which are on EUL5 tables) and rebuilt again for the scheduler to work properly. from that day we are getting this error and it is for few users only . if i am able to run a report successfuly but other user cannot run the same report .
    Do i need to rrefresh the EUL as we have made some changes to the database objects where the EUL is located .
    this is a business critical issue . please let me know
    Thanks

  • Discoverer Plus returning no data and IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0. Desktop OK

    We are attempting to create a worksheet in Discoverer Plus. It is based on two tables joined with an outer join. We select 1 field from the master table, then 6 fields from the detail table. The query runs OK (we have no conditions, sorts, calculations nor totals).
    When we attempt to add a 7th field from the detail table and run the query, Discoverer Plus displays the error message 'IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0' and the results region says 'No Data'.
    If we build exactly the same worksheet with Discoverer Desktop against the same EUL, the query runs OK and returns the expected data. I've experienced this problem before and solved it by deleting the detail folder and re-creating it. (We are using custom folders). After this the query ran OK in Discoverer Plus and returned the expected data.
    Has anyone else come across this? Do you know what causes it and/or any better method of solving it?

    I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the default position (and default aggregate) for the EUL folder item? I can see that some of the folders have number type items with default position 'Data Point' and others have these with default position of 'Top or Side'. I'm totally stabbing around in the dark here; looking at EUL folders which exhibit the problem and those which don't.
    I've tried changing one field to 'Data Point' and it hasn't helped. Will try changing the join items now I think.
    If anyone has any comments, would be v. grateful as I'm looking at dropping folders which have quite a bit of code around them and trying to re-create them exactly, which is a risky and horrible solution.

  • Unable to connect Discoverer Server:IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0

    Hi all,
    I installed Discoverer 10 server on a machine called gnvmig.ote.gr and when I connect (from Discoverer Plus) to an Application EUL on the same machine I don't have any kind of problem. If I try to be connected to an Application EUL on another machine I have the following error:
    Unable to connect Discoverer Server:IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0
    I added inside the tnsnames.ora the connection string (to the other machine) and I enabled the trace....but inside the apps_trace.txt I don't any errors.
    The strange thing is that the connection on the remote machine worked perfectly since yesterday....and now....nothing !!
    The connection trace is the following:

    If you always get this error, then I don't know the answer. However, I see this message if I try to open a second Discoverer Plus session from the same browser session (either the same connection dialog, or on another tab of the same session). You can have multiple sessions of Discoverer , but they must be opened from completely separate browser sessions, or different browsers.

  • Discoverer - IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0

    Hi,
    I am using discoverer 10g version (10.1.2.45.20), When we are running queries using plus / desktop we are getting IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0 exception.
    We have page items on the report, initially data loads properly if once i select any of the page item i am getting this error
    Please help me
    Thanks
    Mangamuri

    Hi Mangamuri
    Could be that Discoverer does not know which items to group within a Page Item. I've seen situation when All is selected that ths data is returned but when a single Page Item is selected an error is thrown. This is because the same item would logically be associated with 2 different page items, not very common I know but this was my cause.
    To fix it I had to insert additional logic into my conditions to only pull items that would group into single page items. This is very hard to explain or reproduce but just a hint as to what the cause was in my situation.

  • Error Message appears when drilling down from a report.

    Hi,
    I am using CR XI R2.
    I have an rpt file that displays a chart from a sub report.
    I tested it on the CR designer and report viewer - works ok.
    When I display this report in my .Net application, I get an error message when drilling down from this chart : "The Report Application Server failed"
    When looking at the log files I see this error message:
    4 19 13:11:14.770 5336 5564 (\servers\ras\dtsagent\reporthandler.cpp:11622): CReportHandler::buildReportViewerError: CSResultException thrown.   ErrorSrc:"CRPE" FileName:"\servers\ras\dtsagent\reporthandler.cpp" LineNum:11618 ErrorCode:997 ErrorMsg:"" DetailedErrorMsg:""
    This is a Viewer error - but when drilling down from the Report Viewer I don't get this exception.
    Does anyone know what this mean?

    Too strange and my require a phone support case;
    http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/DisplayProductByTypePage&parentCategoryID=&categoryID=11522300
    Three ideas:
    1) Install CR designer on one of the boxes where this does not work and try to run the report there
    2) Add a line to your code and save out the report just after your database logon once ( .saveAs). try to run this report in the CR designer.
    3) Use the [modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] utility to compare the runtime - both CR and db client between computers that work and those that do not.

  • Limit the members shown when drilling down

    Hi,
    Is it possible to limit the members shown of a level, when drilling down? I have a dimension in groups with a medium level that has a lot of members, and when I drill down from the top level in this dimension, a lot of members are shown and the graph is too confused.
    Thanks in advanced...

    Hi all,
    I have discoreved how to do this programmatically.
    //Limit series to 10 elements
    graph.setDisplaySeries(10);
    graph.setDisplaySeriesLimit(10);
    graph.setAutoLayout(Graph.AL_NEVER);
    graph.setLegendScrollbarPresence(ThinGraph.SP_NEVER);
    graph.setLegendSeriesCount(10);
    graph.setScrollbarPresenceSeries(ThinGraph.SP_NEVER);
    //And limit groups to 10 elements
    graph.setDisplayGroups(10);
    graph.setDisplayGroupsLimit(10);
    graph.setScrollbarPresenceGroups(ThinGraph.SP_NEVER);
    Hope this helps someone with the same problem...

  • Repeated labels when drilling in graph

    All,
    I have a bar graph where I am showing the breakdown of balances in several accounts. When the user clicks on an account name it drills into the breakdown of the balances in the subaccounts that make up the selected account. However, when I drill down I am seeing a repetition of the account name I clicked. For example:
    Top level report shows:
    Account A
    Account B
    Account C
    The user clicks on account B, now the graph shows:
    Account B Child Account A
    Account B Child Account B
    Account B Child Account C
    The desired outcome when drilling in is to show:
    Child Account A
    Child Account B
    Child Account C
    I'm having trouble finding a setting to remove the repetition. Is there a way to change this behavior? I'm using version 11.1.1.6. Thanks!

    Graphs disappear is known issue in BOXIr3.1.
    But in this senario is different.

  • Hierarchy displyed wrong when drilled

    Hi
    My hierarchy is Group, Dept, class, subclass, item.
    I have generated a report based on a group and a mertics.
    when i click on group in order to drill i get dept which is fine. then when i click on dept, i get class and subsequent levels which is absolutely fine.
    But the problem arises in the second scenario. when i click group, i get dept. now again when i click group, i dont get the columns in hierarchy. i get group then class and then dept.
    Please advice as how can i troubleshoot this problem. I want to get the proper hierarchy even when i am clicking on group.
    Thanks
    Amit

    But dont you think that the tool should take care of this and place the drilled columns in order of the hierarchy.
    and if that is the case, then will it be a good idea to log a bug with obiee for the same.I disagree with this, OBIEE gives you the option on where to put the new column you are asking for when drilling, its a case of user training thats all. If you have a hiearchy with alternative drill paths, when you choose to take the alternative path, it would be nice to decide where in the report the NEW hierarchy field is added, dont you think?
    They wont raise a bug for what is an enhancement request that is wanting functionality removed from the tool?

  • OBIEE 11g Report-When drilling down to lower level, totals are not matching

    Have selected the Fiscal Year Dim, Fact Budget Cost, Fact Actual Cost
    FY BCost ACost
    2011 100 120
    2012 150 140
    Total 250 260

    2011 Q2 100 90

    when I am drilling down to Quarter and Period Level the BCost & ACosts are bumping the Numbers as above and not matching with totals
    Any suggestions?

    Check out the query in both the times.Execute against database and try to sum the data for quarter/period and compare it with Year data.
    Just try to differentiate is it a report total that is getting wrong or the data in the database table itself is getting wrong stored.

    for all other level of drilling
    every thing is working fine but the problem  is
