Idle status

I connected my printer to mac using usb, but the status of the printer is IDLE. When I try to print, in the print queue don't appears the document and don't let me print. How I can change the idle status and print?

Hi @zvo851 ,
I see by your post that you are unable to print. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet. Try another USB port on the computer. You might have to try another USB cable.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Press and hold the Start Copy Black button () and the Start Copy Color button () until the product makes some noise.
Release both buttons. The self-test report prints.
Did the self test print?
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Deskjet 1050)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
How was the printer name listed?
Test the printer.
Did you download and install the newest drivers?

So, why would you want someone to not see "idle" status? Is this a security risk or something. Isn't it just about the same as "away" ?
I have only allow people in my buddy list to see me, so I am guessing if this is a security risk, that wouldn't matter in this case...right?

  • IChat Idle Status like Adium

I was wondering if anyone knew of a script or preference tweak that would allow an automatic Idle status like the one Adium deploys with their application, Where I can just choose a predetermined time as to how long I've gone "idle" and it continue to rack up the minutes from there on out without switching back to "Available" until i choose otherwise.
I realize that I could just set my status as "away" with the preference of not allowing people to see when I'm actually not at my computer, but there are times I would much rather go into an idle status to make my absence more believable even when i return.
I can't imagine this to be all that difficult as that most, including AOL's own AIM client, allows this. I just personally don't know where to begin. I've scoured through various forums looking for an answer and I'm just shocked this hasn't been asked before.
It is the only feature I miss from Adium but I love iChat's simplicity and design that much more for me to want to go back to Adium.

Even Chax, an iChat Add On, does it by setting an Away message rather than Idle
I am not sure it is in the Chax Version for Snow Leopard either. (Still in Alpha)

  • Hp Officejet Proo 8600 stuck on idle status

My printer will not leave idle status.  I followed the directions that others have posted about right clicking, removing printers and readding.  I did that and printer is still idle...any other suggestions

Hello drewjilljess and welcome to the HP forums!
I see you have an Officejet Pro 8600 that is always saying it's idle, which leads me to believe you are using this with a Mac computer. I will do my best to help you out
Now as far as I know (and don't get me wrong, I don't know everything ), the printer shows as idle on a Mac whenever it's not in use, so I would think it normal for it to show idle all the time. That leads to my next question though, which is, are you able to print or are you having issues? If you are experiencing issues trying to print, can you let me know what happens when you try to print?
When you respond can you let me know how the printer is connected to the Mac as well as which version of Mac you're working with? Thanks so much, hope to hear from you soon!

  • Tuxedo client was in idle status and lic.txt question

I found that my tuxedo client code didn't work till yesterday and it looks like idle status. There is not any error info written to client application log or ULOG(except "INFO: License file d:\tuxedo9.1\udataojb\lic.txt not found"). I check another Tuxedo client environment and nothing wrong was found in client application log or ULOG. What's wrong with it? Thanks for your kindly reply.

    Hi Bill,
I'm afraid I'm not following what's happening. Are you saying your client stopped working yesterday? Or are you saying it wasn't working until yesterday?
In any case, clients are for the most part completely under the control of your application code. So my guess is you'll need to attach a debugger to the client process and try and figure out what the client is doing. Alternatively you could add logging statements into your application code to try and figure out where in your application the client process is waiting.

  • IChat and 'idle' status

After some time, my iChat status goes to idle. Yet in my preferences/accounts/security, I have "block others from seeing that I am idle". Why is this?

I've noticed that happening following to me making a change in the setting. I restarted iChat, verified the setting and it appears to have solved the problem.

That is the method The Hint was originally written for iChat 2 and was reported to be nit so effective in iChat 3
However as it is Leopard why not use the option in iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Security tab to Block others from seeing you are Idle ?

  • Idle status shows false time of buddies

I have watched buddies go from available to idle. It used to say "idle 10m", that was the start point. Now it is saying "idle 2h10m". Anyone know why this is happening?

    Hi,
I have read somewhere that the idle time can be altered.
I believe it is done with one of those Terminal Commands (for the hidden preferences).
I did a small search of these discussions but could not turn up anything.
I don't frequent MacOSXHints but I seem to recall that it may have been a post about a link to there.
Edit: Search there and found this http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=200402181751007&query=ichatidletime

  • F4480 shows idle status

installed the f4480 printer to windows 7 operating sysytem. it doesn't print from microsoft word or make copies, sounds like its printing on paper, but a blank paper comes out. It does print from web sites, gmail, mozilla and print emails received.
Any help wouold be greatly appreciated.

    Hello @june0624,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see your HP Deskjet F4480 is not making copies or printing from Microsoft Word, but you are able to print from all other programs.
First I would like you to perform a Hard Reset on the DJ F4480:
    1. Unplug all cables and memory cards from the printer. Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer while the printer is still turned on.
    2. Unplug the other end of the cord from the power source.
    3. If there is a power module on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.
    4. After 60 seconds, plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup as they can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time).
    5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
    6. The printer should automatically power back up. If it doesn't, turn it on with the power button.
    7. Try making a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in-on printer) before connecting any other cables to the printer.
    8. Connect any other needed cables to the printer.
Are you now able to make a copy?
Because you are able to print from other programs, we know the problem is confined to the Word program, please click on the link below to start troubleshooting:

You can also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor > www.hp.com/go/tools

  • Officejet 4500G510g -light use; status consistently "idle", connections okay, but won't print

checked all connections, but keep getting "idle"status. Nothing allows it to print. Only 5 weeks old, light use. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

    Hey @ziyoo,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue that you're experiencing when trying to wirelessly print from your Windows 8.1 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps you have attempted prior to reaching out for support. At this time I do not think the wireless printing issue that you're experiencing is being caused by your printer or your network connection. Rather, I believe the wireless printing issue is being caused by your Operating System.
Recently Microsoft has released a Hot Fix to correct network printing issues within their Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. These wireless printing issues consist of 'partial printing' and 'offline' issues. The issues appear to affect multiple makes and models of wireless printers. Can I please have you click here to download the Hot Fix. Once the website opens please click the button for Hotfix Download Available. Please follow the onscreen prompts to install the Fix. Once the Fix has been installed please test printing again.  If printing still fails you may need to restart your computer to allow the Hot Fix to take affect. Once your computer comes back on please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • Question about going idle.

Can I set a setting so that iChat doesn't make me go idle?
Because yesterday was the first time I used iChat in a while and I set an away message up. Then I noticed that that away message just randomly changed to an idle status.
Is there a way that I can completely disable the idle function?
Or at least keep my away message up while I'm idle.
P.S. I'm using iChat 4.0.3. (I'm not sure if that would make a difference)

Go to ichats prefs/accounts/security and tick the box "block others from seeing that i am idle"

  • Standby or Idle application

I've noticed that on the Motorola ROKR Phone it has iTunes and the way it loads is completely different to any other java application. Does anyone know how to get the java app to load once and then go into standby or idle status until re launched or until powercycle?

its the way it loads. Once you turn on the phone, you launch it once (takes a few seconds to get it in memory) and it has no "Please wait" screen. not only that but once it has loaded and you close it, it will load automatically.. hense no wait time. it will only take time to launch again once you restart the phone. i can give you a link to the jar/jad files if you want.
