IDM 7.2 under Windows Server 2008 R2 (SQL Server ): Which NTW ? Which JVM ?
Hello,
We are installing IDM 7.2 under Windows Server 2008 R2 using the database SQL Server 2008 R2.
1/ Which NetWeaver should we use to install the Java Application Server (NTW 7.3 or NTW 7.2)?
Using install guides 7.2rev8, we tried NTW 7.3 but it comes with JVM 1.6 that isn't supported, according to the PAM.
Should we install the AS Java with NTW 7.2 that comes with JVM 1.5 (JVM 1.5 being supported)?
2/ Has someone installed IDM 7.2 under Windows Server 2008 R2 (SQL Server)?
If yes, which NTW was used (7.2 or 7.3)? Which JVM was used (1.5 or 1.6)? Which JDBC drivers (1.2 or 3)?
Thanks a lot for your replies,
Regards.

Orion under windows server 2003
Hi i posted a thread about running orion under windows server 2008, i got a response saying that it might not be compatible because orion for windows use an older version.
So now im trying orion under windows server 2003 and i still cant make it run.
orion just finish with no error but also without doing any test, and if i go to the event viewer i can see this error message:
Faulting application orion.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module orion.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0004db7f.
I found another post asking the same question saying that this might be a problem with AMD processors, but it was posted in 2008 so i thought it would be a good idea to repost it and see if anyone know about some solution to this problem.

Since after the installation, I created a Database using
the Database Configuration Assistant, DB creation was
successfull, but was unable to connect to the DB immdtly.
I restarted the machine to get connected. I'm not a DBA
can anyone help me in understanding why this happened?
Is 9i R2 Compatible with window server 2003?
Thanks.According to Metalink Certification matrix, Win 2003 requires at least 9.2.0.3 Patch set (also available 9.2.0.4, 9.2.0.5 and 9.2.0.6).

Audigy under Windows Server 2003
Hi!
I've installed Windows Server 2003 for a Project at work but I'm unable to get the audigy working. After insatlling Win XP Drivers I get the message 0x80070057 at the direct Sound Tab of direct X. When i disable hardware acceleration, the system says, there is no sound card. I've already started the service for sound in Windows and the system founds the line in and the MIDI processor, but no output device. I've also tested the KX audio-Dirver but the same problem appears.
Thx for help. And please hurry, it's urgent.
I have audigy 2 NX plugged into a windows 2003 server, ASUS S-Presso.
Although I respect that it is not supported, any help would be appreciated!
All the software installs correctly, once installed, diagnostics completes, etc and the remote control works. The only problem is that he machine will hang (and go 00% CPU) the moment it attempts to make a sound (the NX also goes to "mute").
Audigy sound card driver :- dated: 9/26/2003
The composite device that associates itself with the audigy is:Microsoft, 0//2002 - 5.2.3790.0
(I tried changing the composite device for the one on the audigy CD, and this does not help). I think the composite device it installs came with my wireless mouse/kwyboard from Microsoft?
I tried the standard creative updates, but they do not correct the problem.
I tested the NX on a normal XP laptop and it works fine.
Previously I had a Philips rhythmic edge, and this still works perfectly (.89 drivers). I did uninstall it's drivers and the card but this did not help.
I do have another USB audiodevice on the system. A Tiptel "cyberbox" 00 VOIP gateway. I am concerned about a comflict with this one.
I need windows 2003 because of a work application that requires it, but I would be willing to run w2003 in a VMware it if I was sure that going out and buying a XP home license would solve my problem.

Hi,
In Operations Manager Console 2012 SP1 including RU2 I am trying to record a web session in Web Application Transaction Monitoring.
I have check that:
The add-on (Microsoft Web Recorder Helper) 64bit is Enabled.
The 64bit version of IE10 is running/launched. See this link for how to modify your registry key if needed: http://kevingreeneitblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/scom-2012-recording-web-browser-session.html
I have tried both on a Windows 2008R2 and 2012 server, but the recorder is not showing up as can been seen from Kevin's Blog (link above).
Any Ideas?I managed to get this working on both Windows 8 IE10 and server 2012 IE10. Tested on SCOM 2012 SP1 UR2 and UR3. I've done this process in lab and production several times so hopefully this helps you out.
Checklist:
1. Ensure that the 64bit IE10 is launching when the "start web-capture" is started in SCOM.
2. Enable IE10 internet options:
a: Advanced - Security - Enable Enhanced Protected Mode
b: Advanced - Browsing - Enable third-party browser extensions
3. Close all running IE sessions and open the Registry Editor
4. Registry Change (No reboot needed)
- Browse to the following regkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
- Add a new DWORD called TabProcGrowth and set it to 0
5. Registry Change (No reboot needed)
- Browse to the following regkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\Component Categories64\
-You should see two subkeys labeled: (These are the cached BHO IE objects related to the Web Recorder)
{00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
{00021494-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
- Delete only the above two mentioned keys (This will force IE to recache them next launch)
6. Try to start the web capture again from SCOM 2012 SP1.
7. When IE10 Launches enable the add-on again if you are prompted.
8. If you still don't see the Web-Recorder pane in IE you can now show it by:
- View - Explorer bars - Web Recorder -
BIzTalk schema exposed as wcf service deployment in WIndows server which dont have bizTalk installed
Hi All,
I am deploying my Biztalk wcf service (exposed from Schema) in SIT environment which dont have BizTAlk installed. But BizTalk is installed in One server and Webservices are there in another server.
When I browse the service, it is throwing errors as below.
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {9D0E435E-4CCE-4536-83FA-4A5040674AD6} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
[COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {9D0E435E-4CCE-4536-83FA-4A5040674AD6} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).]
Microsoft.BizTalk.Adapter.Wcf.Runtime.TransportProxySingleton..cctor() +23
So please advise me on this. Am I going in correct way? Is it possible like this or do we need to install BizTalk for BizTAlk wcf services also in that environment?
Thanks in AdvanceHi,
If you wish to deploy BizTalk WCF services onto another server, you can do so but you need to install BizTalk
there. This is needed because some dlls are needed for the BizTalk WCF services such that it can point effieciently to the receive location in another server (where actual BizTalk application is running). Also the BizTalk runtime is needed in the other server
and hence you need to just install BizTalk on the other server.
Now if your other server is in the DMZ, then you might not go with the above option of installing BizTalk
over there. In that case you need to install Microsoft ISA server (Internet Security and Application Server) and configure your DMZ with that. In that case you can host your BizTalk WCF services over there and make it point to the actual receive locations
on your BizTalk server.

Windows Server 2008 and Crystal Reports 8.5 printing issue
I am having a problem when using the crystal reports 8.5 report viewer ocx (ActiveX) under Windows Server 2008.
When logging onto the server through remote desktop, a report can be shown on screen in preview. When this report is printed, and the user requests more than one copy, the printer only ever prints one copy. Is this a configuration of the terminal server, or simply that the ocx control doesn't cater for it?
I am using the Windows Server 2008 "Terminal services Easy Print" drivers on the terminal server.
Any suggestions would be welcome.Hi Sastry
I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.
Thanks

Crystal Reports & Windows Server 2008
Hi everybody,
I installed Crystal Reports 10 under Windows Server 2008 R2 (x86-64). I need this u201Coldu201D version because I still have some .NET application developed with Framework 1.1.
Unfortunately, I receive the following error: u201CSystem.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.u201D
I created a virtual directory (which point to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\crystalreportviewers10) and enabled 32-Bit Applications in the Application Pool under IIS 7.
Please notice that with the same configuration, everything works fine under Windows Server 2003.
I eventually tried to install Crystal Reports 2008, but nothing changed.
Did I miss something?
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Best regardsHi Don,
sorry for my late reply.
Unfortunately I don't use Visual Studio. I developed my .NET applications with Borland Developer Studio 2006, which support Framework 1.1 only.
I tried to install the SP3 of Crystal Reports 2008, but no luck.
I have licensed copies both of Crystal Reports 10 and 2008.
Thank you
P.S. if I use the new version (CR 2008 SP3) of:
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll
CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll
CrystalDecisions.Shared
CrystalDecisions.Web
I get the following error:
"The base class includes the field 'crystalReportViewer1', but its type (CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer) is not compatible with the type of control (CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer)."

Unable to Change Screen Resolution in Remote Session - Windows Server 2012 R2
Does anybody know of a way to allow Remote Desktop users to adjust their own screen resolution in a remote session under Windows Server 2012 R2? We are struggling with this and can't seem to find a solution.
When users login to their RDP session and try to adjust their screen resolution this message is displayed in Control Panel:
"The display settings can't be changed from a remote session."
We don't want to use the "make text and other items larger or smaller" scaling feature, as this produces undesirable results with some of our applications. We also don't want to have to support multiple types of RDP clients or RDP shortcut
files.
We have looked at other posts but can't find an answer that applies to Windows Server 2012 R2. The closest thing we could find is KB2726399, but it only applies to Server 2008.
Does anybody have a solution for Server 2012?
ThanksHi,
Currently you cannot change the resolution from within the session. This is normal and expected behavior.
Unfortunately this means you need to set the desired resolution before connecting by using custom .rdp files, manually within the Remote Desktop Client, custom web launch page, custom windows launch program, etc.

Request If I change public ip in windows server What will happen
Dear Sir,
Please be informed that Currently we are using Remote Desktop Services under Windows Server 2008 R2 OS with Workgroup. We configured STATIC IP (PUBLIC IP) to connect Remotely to the Server.
We created .rdp file and sent to our clients to access remotely.
Now we plan to change STATIC IP (PUBLIC IP) in the Server. Is it affect anything in Remote Desktop Service and Window server Configurations.
We plan to change IP and Recreate .rdp file and will send to our clients. Is it Ok. Please Explain
Thanking You,
BatchaHi Batcha,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Yeah, you can change the static IP address for the server, bu t as you have commented you need to recreate the .RDP file for it with new IP address and server name and then provide to user to have access.

For windows Server 2008 and Server 2012 you may need enable Desktop Experience Feature
The Desktop Experience Feature enables a bunch of stuff that is by default present on a desktop OS. Most importantly it includes Themes, Windows Media player and the Aero related features. You will have to enable it form the Server Manager. The "Turn Windows features on or off" / "Add remove windows components" has all been rolled into the Server Manager now.
Server Manager > Features > Desktop Experience
Installing the Desktop Experience feature does not enable them. You have to manually set them up.
After that Windows Server 2008 == Vista x64
Windows Server 2008 R2 == Windows 7 x64
Windows Server 2012 == Window 8 x64
So just use the appropriate desktop drivers - that are available
