IDM dependencies on free packages on Solaris

Is there anyway to find if IDM has any dependency on free packages shipped with Solaris9?
to name a few:
SFWaalib
SFWaconf
SFWafio
SFWamake
SFWamnda
SFWbdb
SFWbison
SFWbrl
we would like to get rid of them in the prod server.
Thanks.

Do you use SSL between IDM and OpenSSO?. You might want to check the Server and CA certificates. Check whether the CAs are same between these two boxes

    How do we know if these GNU free packages are utilized by any other software? I want to check any dependencies of JES, Identity Manager etc?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
    I havent installed any additional packages by myself. But, I am worried about this package:
    SFWimap     Imap - mail server daemon and utilities
    Do you think JES or SUN Identity Manager might depend on it?.
    I presume, these packages will not be installed untill we do an install with an installer? Is this right?

  • Mod_jk2 package for Solaris 10 x86

    I need a mod_jk2 package for Solaris 10 x86 so it will be part of my installation, thus build is not good enough. Can anyone help?

    Creator is now integrated into NetBeans. Download the Java + EE
    distribution of the NetBeans 6.1 release from netbeans.org.
    When you create a project, you will be led through a series of panels,
    where the last is Frameworks. Select the "Visual Web JavaServer Faces"
    framework. You will be familiar with the rest, and of course it will
    work on solarisx86.
    Have fun!

  • Need package for Solaris 10 with extension .pkg after bunzip/tax -x

    did steps to unzip firefox-30.0.en-US.solaris-10-fcs-i386.tar.bz2. the folder is not a package to Solaris, when trying to run
    directly from folder get XPCOMGlueload error ( no libc.so.1). is there a package that unTars as a package ( -.pkg) and installs
    with pkgadd ?

    I am not an expert in this, but I did some research for Solaris builds and found some instructions that may help:

  • Free version of Solaris 10 - CPU limi (?)

    I can get a E4500 system with 14 CPUs pretty cheap but I'm wondering if the free version of Solaris 10 would utilize all the processors. Is there a CPU limit?
    TIA :)

    damdam, damdidumdum, dadidumdum, no there is no limit ;)
    Sorry, couldn't resist.
    There has never been any limits in the Solaris kernel as to how many CPUs you can use. Somewhere around the Solaris 2.6 timeframe there was a licensefee for systems with many CPUs, but that went away long ago.

  • Installing .rpm packages onto solaris 10.

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me by providing the steps to install .rpm package into solaris 10 os?
    Thanks

    RPM is just a packaging format, and the tools are available on the Solaris Software Companion CD, in the SFWrpm package. You would need to install the package on your system in order to get the RPM tools.
    But I think Pascal's point is that the payload is typically Linux binaries, so installing a Linux RPM on Solaris would not be productive. But you could certainly install a source package, for example, or create your own RPM containing Solaris binaries.

  • Best source of binary packages for Solaris 10

    Which is the best source, Sun's companion CD, www.sunfreeware.com, www.opencsw.org, www.blastwave.org, or others?
    Thanks,

    Depends on your needs. Ie what criterion you use to decide "best".
    blastwave and opencsw are more "modern" complete repositories.
    They come with a "pkg-get" system for recursively fetching a package and all its depencies.
    But they have a slightly higher startup cost as you have to install the pkg-get framework. Not that its hard.
    You can't just download a package off the website and install it.
    These days blastwave has made a cut with the past and only supports solaris 10/opensolaris.
    opencsw is a fork that still supports solaris 8+.
    the sun cd is a old snapshot of a small subset of whats on sunfreeware.
    So if you just want one simple package. Grab it off sunfreeware.
    If you want something more complex. eg a bunch of packages or a package with complex dependencies, its worth making the effort to get it off blastwave. Unless your running solaris 8/9. In which case use opencsw.

  • Regfree() doesn't free memory in Solaris 8

    Here's a 21-line program that demonstrates the prolbem, which is a memory
    leak in the regcomp()/regfree() routines. This works without
    problem in Solaris 7 (and Linux and BSDi for that matter):
    <p>
    <pre>
    #include <sys/types.h>
    #include <regex.h>
    #include <stdio.h>
    int main()
    regex_t re;
    int errcode;
    char buf[256];
    for (;;) {
    errcode = regcomp(&re, "X", 0);
    if (errcode != 0) {
    regerror(errcode, &re, buf, sizeof(buf));
    printf("regcomp() error:'%s'\n", buf);
    return 1;
    regfree(&re);
    </pre>
    <p>
    This will use 100 Mbyte or so every few seconds on Solaris. Maybe I missed
    a fix in a patch, but a search for regcomp or regfree returned nothing.
    <p>
    I've worked around this in our application, but my boss thought it would be
    a good idea to submit a bug report. Sun's FAQ says to report bugs in the
    forum, so here it is. This isn't an Intel issue (at least, I've only
    tested it on Sparc), but there isn't a generic developer forum, and the
    webmaster at Sun said to post it here.

    if you're reading this it would be @&$%#&$( useful to folks in this list to actually BE ABLE TO REFER TO KNOWN SUN BUGS and to be able to report their own.
    I couldn't log in to the sunsolve site - do I need a special password to be able to view bug status? (I agree I can find patches there, but
    not being able to view/report bugs as a user under the free license program is ridiculous).
    How can we get resolution on this?

  • Monitoring Free memory in solaris 8

    Hi,
    I will like to monitor the amount of free memory in my system. I understand that as Solaris 8 implements "cyclical page cache", the value read from the "free list" column of vmstat will be much more accurate than previous version.
    But when i run it on my sparc, the value is 50208KB.
    But when i run Memtool 3.8.2, these are the values
    Total memory:119Mb
    Kernel memory:10Mb
    Application:52Mb
    Exe and lib :15Mb
    File Cache: 33Mb
    Free, file cache : 3Mb
    Free, free :3 Mb
    (33 + 3 + 3) =>39Mb
    Can someone tell me how to reconcile the values from this 2 tools? Which is more accurate? (or is there a better method?)
    Thanks!

  • SUNWinst package for Solaris 8

    Hi,
    I am working on flar images and i have to get a flar image from existing solaris 8 system. But flar has not been included to the system installation when it installed. I have tired to install flar with pkgadd command from SUNWinst package which is under /var/sadm/pkg but this package doesn't contain any lib or binary like flarcreate. Then I searched SUNWinst on web but i couldn't find it. Another trouble, " I have no installation DVD for sol8". I am downloading sol8's iso now. But just in case, where can I get SUNWinst full package?
    One more question:
    Can solaris10.flar image be used on solaris 10 again? I mean, I have a flar image which contains sol10 OS and I wanted to use it as zone on other sol10 system. Can I do that?

    *2nd system*

  • SUNWsprox package with solaris 10 for Oracle 10g Installation....

    Hi
    I am in problem with a Solaris 10 package "SUNWsprox - Sun workshop Bundled 64-bit make library" for Oracle 10g Installation. I checked the CDs (In the /.../products) but did't found this packege. Can any one tell me please can I go without this package or where I found this package...Please Its very URGENT for me....
    Thanks
    Mohammed Tanvir

    Hi...
    I had the same issue, but found out that the SUNWsprox was replaced by SUNWsprot. The OUI 10.1 Release 2 will 'pass' as the doco in the Oracle quick install guide is wrong (as well as 10g Application Server).
    The only way to lay a 10g Release database on Solaris 10 is to lay the software doen only, then cd in the .../bin directory, step your Rdbms ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, LD_LIBRARY_PATH and of course the DISPLAY (is X-windowing into the server), and run dbca manually. Oracle 10g is a bit buggy.
