IDM Gateway service support on 64-bit Windows 2003

Hi,
Is the IDM gateway service supported on Windows 2003 64-bit systems for IDM 8 and above?
I can see Release Notes for IDM 8 patch 2 that show support for Windows 2008 64-bit but can't find if it supports Win 2003 64-bit.
Thanks,
Chris

  • How to Install 64-bit "Generic / Text Only" print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server?

    Hi All,
In a nutshell, I need to Install the 64-bit Generic / Text Only print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server’s “Generic / Text Only 32-bit print queue.
The problem is that there is no Driver-Disk to get the drivers. I’ve been able to isolate 14 files related to the 64 bit drivers from a Windows 7 x64 computer and copy them to a temp folder on the Windows 2003 x32 server. When I try to add the 64 bit driver
to the Windows 2003 x32 server,  it wants a *.inf file, which I don’t have and can’t find.
Because Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, my client is replacing all of their Point-of-Sale Windows XP x32 systems with Windows 7 x64. They use Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) to connect to a Windows 2003 x32 server to use the POS system. The
POS software redirects LPT1 back to the local Generic / Text Only printer. This works great for XP x32.
When we use the Terminal Services POS software on the new Windows 7 x64 system, none of the labels print out because it’s redirected in 32-bit back to the local Windows 7 x64 Generic / Text Only 64-bit printer.
This will be a huge issue for me if I can’t get this to work.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help! -Rob

  • 32 Bit c\c++ code with 64 bit Windows 2003 exproc

NOTE - This was posted previously under ther PLSQL forum. If this forum is also incorrect, I apologize - please guide me to the correct location.
Several years ago we implemented the Shell exproc example ( Metalink Note:136527.1) on our NT server – It uses a snippet of c/c++ code and a free downloadable borland compiler. It turned out to be very handy and we have a lot of packages based on it. We recently migrated to a 64 bit Windows 2003 server where the library fails (ORA-06520) and need to recompile the C/C++ code for a 64 bit platform.
I have access to Visual Studio 2008, but it has been years since I’ve played with C and I’ve never used Visual C++. Does anyone have the clift notes for recompiling this example for windows 64 bit enivronment using Visual Studio? Is there a better compiler (simpler ide) to be using?

This is not a SQL or PL/SQL question.
Please repost in the appropriate forum.
    Thanks.

  • Support for 64-Bit Windows?

    Hello,
Do any/all versions of ODP.NET support the 64-Bit version of Windows? Is there a separate version of ODP and/or Client 9.2 for 64-Bit?
    Thank you.

  • Vcast Media Manager -- where is support for 64-bit windows computers??

I purchased a Droid 2 in October, when I plug it into my computer it brings up Verizon Vcast Media Manager page to download that program (which is good because I want to get my music onto my phone from my desktop computer).  But only after download attempt does it tell me that said program will only support a 32-bit operating system.  Well, I, my wife, and a lot of other people have a 64-bit operating system.  Is Verizon really that far behind the times?  Seriously has no one noticed this, a 32-bit machine is outdated these days.  Why can i not hook my Droid up to my puter, I thought this was smartphone technology...  Maybe the phone is smarter than Verizons Programmers??   To VZW, please correct me if I am wrong, or fix the problem if I am correct.

Currently there is no 64bit version available at this time, and no ETA to when one will be available. I would recommend as an alternative using the Droid 2 as a mass storage drive to transfer music. I have included the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34780
If it still does not recognize it as a device, try putting it in USB debugging mode. Instruction article given below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31366
***As long as a memory card is present in the device, it will show up as a drive on your personal computer. Once it shows up as a drive, you can drag and drop music and media files on the Droid 2.

  • Add support for SCXI-1600 in 64-bit Windows

    Hello,
I recently discovered that the SCXI-1600 is not supported in 64-bit Windows.  From what NI has told me, it is possible for the hardware to be supported, but NI has chosen not to create a device driver for it.
I'm a bit perplexed by this position, since I have become accustomed to my NI hardware just working.  It's not like NI to just abandon support for a piece of hardware like this -- especially one that is still for sale on their website.
Please vote if you have an SCXI-1600 and might want to use it in a 64-bit OS at some time in the future.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Hi All. Just reading about the lack of support for the
SCXI-1600 and Windows 7 (64bit) It sounds like I am in the same boat as the
rest of you. I have 4 SCXI systems and IT head office is rolling out Windows 7
    (64) across the board. (Worldwide). so now I have the choice of either
purchasing 4 new systems ($160K USD), Trying to just get the Windows 7 (32)
operating system (if possible) or start buying new hardware. Then I need to
justify why I am spending this money. Like you all, it has been just so easy to
use the NI stuff but when you are forced to upgrade and there is no support for
one party it does make our job so much harder. Yes I would like 64bit support
    for the SCXI-1600 module.

  • Error launching Infoview on Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64 bits

    In our Lab, just installed BO XI 3.1 on a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 32 bits AND a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64 bits servers.
When launching Infoview on the 64 bits server, I get the following error message:
    Server Error in '/InfoViewApp' Application
    Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this applicationprevent the details of the application error from being viewed.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application....
I did modify the web.config file for the tag: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly"/>
When accessing Infoview after the change, I get:
    Server Error in '/InfoViewApp' Application
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSI {E063B04A-CB8B-460E-99D0-F7D8FA2FAAA2} failed due to the following error: 80040154
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Pleas review the stack trace....
I don't have any problems accessing Infoview on my 32 bits server. Same installation procedure.
I uninstalled BO on my 64 bits server and reinstalled without solving my problem.
Any ideas or experience with 64 bits envir.?
Thanks for any advice, suggestions. Wondering if I should just be going with 32 bits but we're trying to go with as many 64 bits servers in the field.
    Regards

    Denis,
You pointed me in the right direction. Found something in the DB knowledge of  SAP (with some patience..).
I'm not too sure if it's the article ID but here's what show up next to the title: 1326978
    Mainly, here's the solution:
    Symptom
How to configure XI 3.1 with Win2003 64-bit using IIS
When navigating to InfoView, user receives "Server Error" message.
Server Error in '/businessobjects/Enterprise115/InfoView' Application.  -- displayed for XIR2
Server Error in '/InfoViewApp/ Application.  -- displayed for XI 3.x
    Reproducing the Issue
Issue could occur in any 32-bit version of XI (XIR2 and XI 3.x) that supports 64 bit windows 2003 operating systems
    Cause
While newer versions of XIR2 and XI 3.x are supported on 64 bit OS's they do not currently support 64 bit .net
    Resolution
XI 3.1 is a 32-bit application and InfoView/CMC cannot run while IIS is in 64-bit mode.  In addition, IIS cannot run in both 32-bit and 64-bit modes simultaneously.  Follow these steps to change IIS to run in 32-bit mode and unregister/register the correct IIS app pools.
Open the windows command prompt and do the following:
    To disable 64-bit .NET 2.0:
    cd C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework64\v2.0.50727
    aspnet_regiis /u
To enable IIS to run in 32-bit mode:
    cd C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts
    cscript adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1
    To enable 32-bit .NET 2.0:
    cd \WINDOWS\microsoft.net\Framework\v2.0.50727
    aspnet_regiis /i
In IIS manager under Web Service Extensions:
ASP.NET v2.0.50727 (32-bit) (The new one that appeared when you enabled 32-bit .NET 2.0) Set  to Allow.
ASP.NET v2.0.50727 (the 64-bit version that has been there since you installed .NET 2.0 framework) If it is still listed, Set to Prohibit.
Restart IIS (via Windows command prompt)
    iisreset
I am now able to get to the login screen of InfoView but I'm missing the type of authentication field (Enterprise, Windows AD)
I'll take a look early tomorrow.
    Thanks again.

  • How to reference MS Access database in ColdFusion MX 7 on 64-bit Windows

    I am migrating customers from:
    Windows 2000 Server (fully patched)
    Internet Information Services (IIS) 5
    ColdFusion 5
    to:
Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition (fully patched)
Internet Information Services (IIS) 6 (running in 32-bit
    mode)
    ColdFusion MX 7 (7.0.2) Standard
Unfortunately, some of these existing customers are still
using Microsoft Access databases instead of SQL Server. Having all
of these existing customers migrate to SQL Server is not yet
practical. On the old Windows 2000 / ColdFusion 5 server, they are
using OLE DB data sources to reference the MS Access databases
using the "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" provider. None are configured
to use ODBC drivers when referencing MS Access or SQL Server.
I have yet to figure out how to get ColdFusion MX 7 to:
    - Create a data source that references MS Access databases on
    64-bit Windows.
    - Reference an existing MS Access data source created with
the 32-bit version of the ODBC Data Source Manager on 64-bit
    Windows.
A bit of background information regarding MS Access on 64-bit
    Windows:
    - At the time of this writing, Microsoft has not
created/released 64-bit drivers for Microsoft Access and it's
unlikely they ever will, for understandable reasons.
    - Contrary to seemingly popular belief, the Microsoft Jet 4.0
Database Engine does exist on 64-bit Windows. See the following
regarding version and file location information:
How to obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft Jet
    4.0 Database Engine
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114
    - You CAN create MS Access based data sources within 64-bit
Windows, but they have to be made using the 32-bit version of "ODBC
Data Source Manager". I'm assuming these DSNs may only be used by
32-bit applications, but I have not tested that theory.
    32-bit data sources:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
    Registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    Default file DSN directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ODBC\Data Sources
    64-bit data sources:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe
    Registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
    Default file DSN directory:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\ODBC\Data Sources
The 64-bit version of "ODBC Data Source Manager" (under
Administrative Tools) only show "SQL Server" and/or "SQL Native
Client" as options when creating new data sources, unless
third-party software is installed that supplies additional drivers.
The 32-bit version of "ODBC Data Source Manager" (by default,
there is no shortcut for this in the Start menu) shows the typical
drivers seen on 32-bit versions of Windows, including SQL Server,
SQL Native Client, Microsoft Access, Excel, FoxPro, Paradox, etc.
When using ColdFusion Administrator in ColdFusion MX 7.0.2 in
64-bit Windows 2003 (IIS is running in 32-bit mode to allow
ColdFusion MX 7 to function at all), two problems are encountered
when dealing with MS Access (and presumably other 32-bit drivers).
In both cases, ColdFusion is trying to reference the registry
location for 64-bit data sources instead of 32-bit:
    1. Creating a new data source within ColdFusion
    Administrator:
    Data Source Name: whatever
    Driver: Microsoft Access
    CF Data Source Name: whatever
Database file: (physical path to whatever.mdb)
(other settings are irrelvant for this example)
    Error generated when submitting:
Unable to update the NT registry.
    Cannot open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC
Data Sources: Windows error number 5 occurred.Access is denied.
ColdFusion stores the data source, however a "verify"
    generates the following error:
Connection verification failed for data source: whatever
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error: Data source name not found and
    no default driver specified
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
    [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error:
Data source name not found and no default driver specified
    2. Creating the data source using the 32-bit version of "ODBC
Data Source Manager" then trying to reference it with ColdFusion:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    System DSN or File DSN:
    Name: whatever
    Driver: Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb)
    Database: (physical path to whatever.mdb)
(creation is successful within ODBC Data Source Manager)
Reference the above DSN within ColdFusion Administrator:
    Data Source Name: whatever
    Driver: ODBC Socket
    Error generated when submitting:
Error accessing available odbc datasources. - Cannot open
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC Data Sources:
Windows error 2 occurred. The system cannot find the file specified.
ColdFusion MX 7 can't find the 32-bit data source on 64-bit
Windows because it's looking for it in the wrong registry location.
Can ColdFusion MX 7 be configured to look in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    instead of
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
    on a 64-bit Windows machine?

    Paul,
Thanks for the insight on this. Regarding the initial problem
I ran into with creating Access based DSNs, very early-on, I
noticed there were two different driver options for Access
displayed within ColdFusion MX 7 Administrator:
    Microsoft Access
    Microsoft Access with Unicode
For reasons I'm am still baffled over, I somehow completely
forgot about and through the wonders of apparent tunnel vision,
completely overlooked the "Microsoft Access with Unicode" driver
option when I was running through my tests.
At your seemingly-obvious suggestion, I created a data source
using the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver and it worked
perfectly fine with the one customer's web site I'm using for
testing (of course, this is a copy--the production site is still
housed on the old ColdFusion 5 server). This obviously doesn't
actually fix the underlying issue with ColdFusion looking in the
wrong part of the registry on 64-bit Windows, but at least when it
comes to dealing with Access databases, your suggestion of using
the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver appears to be a functional
work-around. So long as there aren't any surprises waiting for me,
hopefully this will also work for the remaining ColdFusion sites I
have to migrate that are using Access databases.
Since you mentioned JDBC drivers in comparison with ODBC, I'm
pointing out a couple of references in case they're helpful to
    anyone following this thread:
ColdFusion MX 7 - About JDBC
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/7/htmldocs/00001736.htm
    Types of JDBC technology drivers
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/driverdesc.html
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/
I don't actually develop anything in ColdFusion, so I'm
dealing with all of this from a server administration standpoint
since we do have some domain hosting customers that do develop or
at least have existing ColdFusion based sites. I am all
too-familiar with the caveats of using Access in any kind of
production or heavily used environment and have spent years keeping
users away from ODBC. For ColdFusion users, that meant creating OLE
DB DSNs and often having to fix poorly written SQL statements and
fixing ColdFusion date-related values and boolean values (the
common problems encountered when switching CF / MS Access users
from ODBC to OLE DB). I can only recall running into problems with
a single SQL Server based ColdFusion site when migrating from ODBC
to OLE DB. That customer never did get their many coding problems
fixed, so they're the only ones still using ODBC in CF. I have no
idea what'll happen when that one site gets migrated over--if it'll
even work. Obviously a lot of things have changed between
ColdFusion 5 and the MX versions that have come along afterward.
Thanks again for the Access with Unicode driver tip and JDBC
info. It looks like I can finally start moving forward again with
    the site migration process.

Here is a great post that discusses this in a bit more detail: [What is the gateway used for?|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=11281658&messageID=4990837]
Specifically, the gateway service is the conduit for communications to other systems (one being the java stack, another would be Trex, and still another could be a mainframe system).
