IDM install of weblogic on solaris t200 very slow
Folks
Has anyone installed weblogic or IDM solution on solaris T2000. The startup and responses are very slow. It takes 20 minutes to bring up the admin server and soa server with the base services starts up in over 40 minutes. Bottom line unusable.
Config:
Soalris 10
Jrockit: 1.6
Weblogic and IDM Suite latest dot 5 release
Is there something obvious we are missing.... Any suggestions recommendations???
The same config on linux is blazing but that is not our environment.....
Thanks
MILook up metalink Oracle has mentioned that there is a problem with T200 and the combination of weblogic/soa and other servers with no solution... They suggest T4000 as the starting point....

NW IdM Install on MS 2003 server with an existing SAP instance
All:
I have never worked with SQL server before and need help.
My Scenario:
I have an EP installed with SQL 2005 on Windows 2003.
I would like to install a NW IdM on the same server.
Coming from a unix/oracle environment, if I need two SAP systems on a single host, I would install two oracle instances and database and each SAP instance would point to its own home and database.
How does it work with SQL server. Will I have to install a new instance of the SQL server software and database and if so where would it be? Right now I see that the EP SAP instance, datafile, Tempdb and Logfile resides on the E:\ drive and I also see a C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server. How does a "named instance" fit in my scenario?
Could someone help me understand?
Thanks
S.Hi Markus
And thanks to your answer, it helped me to succeed in this first step but unfortunately 1 minute later during the install process I have a new error telling me :
MDB-05042 Error while executing script "CREATE DATABASE BW3 ON PRIMARY ( name = 'BW3DATA1' , filename = ' C:\BW3DATA1\BW3DATA1.mdf ', size = 11000 FILEGROWTH = 60 )....... idem for BWDATA2 ......... idem for BWDATA3 MODIFY FILE encountered operating system error 112 while attempting to expand the physical file. CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be create.
Could you help me to solve this error . Thank you in advance. -
Change Hostname, IP after IDM install
What are the changes in settings etc that need to be made after hostname/IP address of Host has been changed, which already had a OAM/OID/OIM existing install?
The managed servers are failing to start - hostname of the Host has been changed at OS level. You must change
1. StartManagedWebLogic.sh
2. Recreate certificates (If you wish to start/stop services using Console)
3. tnsnames.ora in OID ORACLE_INSTANCE
If you share at what stage managed server are failing then I can share what to change and where -
Sound Blaster 5.1 Install iss
I just purchased the basic Sound Blaster 5. sound card for my PC.
I followed all the instructions and installed the drivers on my Windows XP (SP2) machine, but for some reason the sound card is not recognized when I click on "Sound and Audio Devices" in the control panel, even though the driver seems to be installed and working properly when I check it from the "Device Manager".
I tried reinstalling the drivers twice now, but to no avail. I also tried uninstalling the drivers to the onboard soundcard, and disabling the onboard soundcard itself through the Device Manager, but that also didn't help.
Finally, if I go to Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers -> Sound Blaster 5. -> Properties -> Properties Tab -> Audio Devices -> Sound Blaster 5. Properties
It says:
"Status: Driver is enabled but has not been started"
Does anyone know what that means, and how do I "start" the driver?
Just so there are no misunderstandings, here is the exact model I purchased:
http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=207&product=484Thanks for all the people who contributed, but in fact this has nothing to do with the sound card model. I searched through various forums on the internet, and apparently it's some kind of a Windows bug which many people experienced with a wide range of sound card models and computers.
Again the problem is with the driver status, saying "Driver is enabled but has not been started".
Unfortunately there is only one solution to this problem which works about 50% of the time, and that is to install the "Plug and Play Software Enumerator" windows component, because in some cases it was not installed. For the other 50% of the people with this problem who did have that component already installed, the exact cause of the problem is not really known and the only viable solution is to re-install windows, which after about 3 days of trying work through all the possible solutions that I could find to this problem, is what I eventually had to do.
Now everything works great though... But it took quite a bit of time to re-install windows and all my programs.

Oracle IDM Install on Windows 2003
Hey all...
I am trying to install OIM 9.1.0.1 on a windows server 2003 and having some trouble. I have the Oracle database installed and configured and prepped for the OIM install as per the documentation. I am using the JBoss App server and have that up and running as well.
I have Java JDK 1.6.0.16 installed. During the install, it says the JDK version is unsupported. After viewing the readme, I see that JDK 1.6.0.10 is supported. Not sure if this is what's causing me an issue.
I get all the install screens until I get to the screen where I provide the application server and Java JDK directories. I enter the directories and hit next and then the installer just sits there. No error messages, no response whatsoever.
I was hoping someone could help me figure out what I am doing wrong. Does the installer just fully reject the latest JDK and fail?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
BryanCheck the compability matrix for your OIM version for JVMs. If Java 1.6 isn't supported that might be your issue.
A lot of things in OIM is built on ancient java constructs so it is not impossible that something finally got deprecated.
Best regards

Encountering Java RMI error trying to install IDM 11.1.1.6
Hi all,
I'm completely stumped trying to install Oracle identity management 11.1.1.6 from the download here
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/id-mgmt/downloads/index.html
I am on RHEL 5.5 x64, clean install into a Xen VM, all the latest updates applied.
What I have done so far is as follows.
Install GI and DB 11.2.0.3.0 for a single instance using ASM
Set up some ASM disk groups using iSCSI attached storage
Create a database using DBCA
Install RCU 11.1.1.6 and create the necessary repository schema for IDM
Install Sun JDK 1.6.0_38
Install Weblogic server 10.3.6 - downloaded from eDelivery
Carry out a software only installation of IDM
Use $MW_HOME/Oracle_IDM1/common/bin/config.sh to create a Weblogic domain which supports IDM
Run $MW_HOME/Oracle_IDM1/bin/config.sh to try and configure IDM
Sadly at this last step I am encountering an RMI error from the weblogic admin server whien specifying which components I want to configure - the installer is connecting to the running server but I get an RMI exception in the logs, the installer reports INST-5194: Unable to connect to the Oracle WebLogic Middleware Administration Server and it won't go any further. Full error stack follows. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm really scratching my head here.

Issue while installing idm 8.1.1 gateway on 64 bit windows 2008 R2
Hi
We have issue in installing idm 8.1.1 gateway on 64 bit windows 2008 R2
C:\Program Files (x86)\IDM\gateway>gateway -i
An error occured while trying to install the service: Input/output error
Sun notes: if you're running 64-bit Windows 2008, you need the JDKTM Version 6 Update 12 and later.
But this java version should be there in Gateway server(windows 2008) or idm installed server?
We don't have java installed on gateway server. is this causing issue?
please let us know
ThanksI may have found a workaround. Can you try to change the "compatibility mode" in 2008 R2 to "Windows XP SP3" and see if it will install?
Admittedly I have not done this myself so I'm not entirely sure where or how it's done, but I have confirmation it resolves the issue from others who have faced it.

Installing a separate copy of IDM to support external customers
We currently have IDM 6.0 providing basic provisioning (i.e. login account, email, internet access...) for all associates. Our authoritative source is our PeopleSoft system - and this all works very well. However, we want to use IDM to provision access for our external customers. Now the business process for these external customers is very different than our internal associates. So the authoritative source will be different. And we plan to separate the internal and external accounts into 2 separate Active Directory domains. So we see a fair amount of changes to our existing workflows, forms, extended attributes... So my question is - should we modify our existing IDM 6.0 environment to support these external customers, or should we install another copy of IDM - and modify this new copy for our external customers only. (Our Sun rep said it doesn't cost anything to have IDM installed twice). We see pro's and con's with this. So does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks.
What is the added value of having two IDM installations? Maybe it is extra security. The drawbacks of two installations are double patching; double login for you user admins; the risk of deploying code changes to the wrong instance.
The customizations for external customers have to be done any way. I would stick to one installation, create a new organization for external users at the same 'level' as your existing organization for internal users and create a new AD resource for customers.
Success! -
Installing IDM Suite on WebLogic 10.3.3 - need JRF
Hi,
We're trying to install the OID software on a WebLogic 10.3.3, where the WL domain has been pre-laid down using the "regular" WebLogic 10.3.3 installation.
Apparently, that WL domain doesn't have the JRF template/files, so when we try to extend the domain using the IDM installer, it fails.
Is there a way to "add" the JRF package to this already-existing WebLogic domain?
Thanks,
JimKevin and Kerry,
It isn't a "mistake".
I've already done a successful installation of both the IDM and IDAM suites earlier, using the "normal" way, i.e., letting the config wizard create the WL domains.
But, the management at our project is insisting on having the WL domain laid down prior to doing the IDM/IDAM installations, actually by another group that normally handles the WebLogic stuff.
So now we're "tasked" (= "stuck") with figuring how to do the installs that way.
Anyway, having said all that, I've made some progress.
I used the "appdev" product, and installed that, and then:
- Started the WL config wizard and was able to add the JRF to the domain, then
- I ran wlst per the link you all provided
After that, the IDM installer got past the "need JRF" step, and I was able to get further in the installation.
At this point, I have:
- The AdminServer starts ok
- The wls_oid1 server starts ok
- The wls_oif1 server starts ok.
But, the IDM installer is stuck at the "Deploy Directory Integration Platform step".
I checked the installation .out file, and it's showing:

Error when install Oracle IDM 11gR1 11.1.1.6
Hello everybody
I've tried to install Oracle IDM 11.1.1.6 with this instruction (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/install.1111/e12002/instps2.htm#INOIM75552).
My system:
- 2 VMware virtual server (one for Oracle DB 11gR2, and one for IDM)
I installed Oracle DB then run RCU for creating schema for:
- Identity Management - Oracle Internet Directory
- Identity Management - Oracle Identity Federation
I installed IDM without configuration, the installation was successfully. After all, I tried to run config.sh script form IDM_ORACLE_HOME.
Most of steps I did was same to documentation, but each time I tried I got a different errors. I cannot complete installation with GUI wizard, so I tried to do with response file.
The error I got is unable to start oid server. That is full log of my installation, please review and help me to detect the problem,.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

DevOk, I saw that there were two parallel schemas running, now when i deleted one of them, i can see only one soa-infra, but its down :(
How can we make it run?
Here is the error:

Upon doing a search on this i found that these errors occur only after when we trying to deploy any application, but its a fresh installation and we are not trying to deploy any thing yet and we should not get this error.

Not able to configure IDM 11.1.1.7 in RHEL
Hi,
Installed below componnets in silent mode
Java 1.6
WLS 10.3.6
IDM 11.1.1.7
while configuring IDM(for OIF) in silent mode based from response file, it is getting stuck at CREATE DOMAIN. In Install out file, log says starting domain and it stays there for long time. But I am not able to continue further.
I am seeing below warnings in install log file
