IDOC Creation - structure has no data elements

Hello,
I've encounted the following situation when creating a new custom idoc:
The structure in the data dictionary does not have any components (Data elements) associated with each field. (i.e if you view the structure using se11).  This is causing problems when trying to build ALE conversion rules using BD79 as you cannot tell which field is which for conversions with muliple conditions.
Does anyone know how to get data elements against the fields in the dictionary structure.  Standard SAP idocs appear to have them - see E1MARCM.
(we are using version 4.7)
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks!

Anita,
I am assuming that although you are creating a custom idoc you are referring to  standard strucutre already existing for your segment.
I am not very clear here, how did you create the segment. Can you clarify on the same?

Ravi

  • Creation of field without data element

    Hi all,
i want to create a field SLNO without data element, i.e. by assigning direct data type NUMC.
by doing so while activating it is giving the below message.
"The table must be adjusted by unloading and reloading
it in the database. This function has a long runtime and should
not be performed while the table is being used for production."
"If you want to start the adjustment nevertheless,
select a processing type and choose 'Adjust'.
    Otherwise choose 'Terminate'."
pls let me know which is better i.e. by assingning direct data type, or else can i create a data element with type as 'NUMC'.
    Regards,
    venkat

    hi venkat,
when creating the db table in se 11 ,if u want to use predefined data type ie char, numc, date etc ... With in se14,in fields tab, click predefined type button which is placed in the first row along with cut ,delete icons.
When u click predefinedtype button, the field named data type will be enabled and its there ready for editing.Choose the data type u need and data length etc.
If u r creating the db for the first time, there is no need for , adjusting the db table using se14.
But if u r trying to edit a db ,that is already been created , then make neccessary changes in the db and go to se14. There give ur edited db name, and click "activate and adjust database " button...Ensure that "save data " option button is selected.
    Note:
If u r making any structural  changes in already existing db ,then use se14 to adjust ,save and activate the db.
    Hope the content is usefull
please change the problem  status if its resolved .Thank you.
    thanks

  • Data element on structure for interface

    Hi all,
I'm working on the development of one interface from a non-sap system to SAP where on a first step SAP will capture a flat file into one structure "ZZZ" but I'm doubting about how to create this structure.
At first I was thinking on identifying a suitable component type/data element for each field (f.i. WAERS for currency field ZZZ-WAERS) but meanwhile I have noticed that for a similar interface the corresponding XXX structure was created using as data elements CHAR* type, where the * was the field length.
Which criteria would you choose in my case? and what will it depend on?
    Thanks in advance.
    Abdali

I think it is a good idea to use only CHAR-definitions for importing flat file data. Here the focus is to have a fixed column length and avoid conversion errors during import, as opposed to neat F1 help texts, for example.
When further processing the data inside SAP you can move the data to another structure with proper data elements (like WAERS or WRBTR), checking for consistency and catching conversion errors in the process.

  • F4 help in data element.

I have a fileld in table that has the structure of eban.
There is a field pstyp and it has input help in it's data element.
I want to suppress the f4 help and attach customized f4 help without implementing Badi.
Please help how to suppree the data elements f4 help.

make your own structure, use own data element. Assign own search help to data element. Or assign own search help in your own structure. Then you dont even need an own data element, just copy structure EBAN and change search help assign in structure..
Thats when you need it generally.
If you just need to overwrite the search help for e.G. a certain Dynpro, then just assign your own search help to the dynpro field.

  • Doubt in data element creation

    Hi,
I have doubt in data element creation ie, there is 2 options elementary type
(domain and built-in-type) and reference type (name of the reference type &
ref to predefined type). if there is built in type here then what is the use of
built-in-type in initial screen of the table and also explain me about the use of
    reference type.
    with regards,
    nanjunda sharma

    Hi!
With the use of the built-in type, you have to set always in every different data element the exact type.
With the use of the domains (pre-defined types) you just have to enter the domain name into the data element. If you have to modify the type, you can maintain it in the domain (only once) but the built in types have to modifyed in every data element (which means more work).
Domains have a little more options also, than the built in types.

  • Data elements for IDoc Segments to non-SAP system

    Hi,
I need to create IDocs for transferring data to non-SAP system. When I create segmet fields should I create new data elements for all the fields with attributes specific to receiving system? Because there are many fields where the field attributes of SAP system do not match the corresponding fields of receiving non-SAP system.
    Thanks in advance!!

  • Creation of Data Element

    Hi,
I am working on special project of Automation of all utility billing and housing system for a big company in SAP.
For that I have to create 26 tables and obviously I am creating a lot of dataelements.
Now the problem is my quality dept says that I should use the inbuilt data elements and refrain from creating new ones. In this case the field label is not matching my field. He says that who is going to see the table and says that you can change the field description in reports as you like. Is it justified.
I can see that there are more than 500 standard datalements created for  a char field of length 4 by SAP. but none of the description matches my field description. if the case is of reducing the load then does sap recommend not to create z data elements.
Can we create dataelement just for the sake of field label and what is the other purpose of a dataelement if not
How much load will be generated by creating a dataelement.
kindly give some insight into the need to create dataelements.

    Hi!
If your Quality people are that much particular about creation of data elements, there is one way to solve this problem. Use standard data elements.
I know here you will get a doubt that after creating a maintenance generator you will not be able to see the description whatever you want in SM30. For this follow the below procedure.
While creating maintenance generator you will give the function group name right, go to SE80 -> and give the function group name there -> double click on the screen number of maintenance -> click on element list tab -> click on 'Texts/I/O templates' tab -> now against the field names under 'Text or I/O Field' column remove the value '+____________' and type the field description there -> repeat the procedure for all the fields -> now save, check and activate the screen as well as function group.
Now if you go to SM30, you can see the field description for every field.
This is somewhat time consuming, but it may help you.
    Reward points, if useful.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

  • How to change data element of IDOC segment

    HI Experts,
    I have copied a segment E1ISU_MEASUREMENT_MEA to ZE1ISU_MEASUREMENT_MEA.
Now i want to change data element of one of the field of the segment.
Please guide me how i can do it?
is there any disadvantages of doing this?
    can we do it easily?
please give me step by step instructions if possible .
    thanks in advance
    Anit

    Hi,
When you want to modify the segment details of a particular IDoc, you could do the same by editing the segment details via t-code, WE19. Once you edit, click on, Outbound or Standard Inbound if your IDoc is Outbound or Inbound respectively. A new IDoc will get generated. The generated IDoc will be in "yellow" status, ready to be picked up by a batch job if there exists one. Else you need to manually process the IDoc via the respective program.

  • Data elements in Idoc segments

    Hi Experts,
Is there a way to get the list of Idoc segments in which a particular data element is used.
    Regards,
    Sridevi

    Hi Sridevi,
Please check table EDSAPPL where you have segment type and data element. If you need to check in which idoc type these segments are residing then you can check table IDOCSYN. Hope this helps.

  • Data Element of MSGFN field in IDOC (DEBMAS)

May I know which data element the field MSGFN belongs to. I couldn't find the corresponding in the table KNA1 for example.
    Please help

    Hi
    MSGFN belongs to no structure.
It defines what to do with each segment.
Look at WE60 with DEBMAS* you may see the possible values or WE31 with whatever segment.
eg: E1KNVPM-MSGFN = '003' would mean delete the partner function related in this segment.
    Hope this helps.

  • Get Archived IDocs based on IDoc creation date

    Save Our Environment. Save Yourself.
    Hi Experts!!!
We need to get the archived idocs based on the idoc creation date. If I give some date, then I should get all the idocs that are archived in that period. How can this be possible?
One more doubt is - I checked the logical path in FILE for archived idocs. But when I go to that in AL11, I can not see any data in that. Where can I find the details of all the archived idocs?
I serached in SCN for the same but in vain.

  • How to find Where does Data Elements and structures are used ?

    Hi everyone .
Is there any table which stores data elements/structures and where they are used ?
If not is there any way to find by writing some <b>program</b> where does a data element or a structure is used ? Which tables will require for that ? If any one can give example it will be most helpful .
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kaushal N. Shah

    Hi Kaushal,
    DD04L stores the data elements.
    DD02L stores the structures.
So you can query these tables & find them.

  • Data element creation for custom 'data element orgchart'

    Hi all,
I'd like to create my own Data element orgchart, using self-developed functional modules to achieve more flexibility in outputting data. Is any recommendations or examples for in-out interface of such modules?
    Regards,
    Sergey Aksenov

    Hi Sergey,
What are you trying to achieve here? It sounds like you want to create new structures or use FMs to replace the data retrieval for the existing structures. This cannot be done in OrgChart, at least not through the AdminConsole.
The structure is called in one call, as well as the data in the nodes. However, for each data source (e.g. NakisaRFC) used in a node there will be a call. For example, if you show position data from HRP1000 and employee data from PA0001 in a node then there will be 2 calls (which calls the data for all nodes at once). You can use an FM to do one call, but this would be in the view and not in the structure. The details panel makes multiple calls to retrieve data, so you can write an FM to call all data in one call rather than many.
You should refer to page 58 of the OrgChart Admin Guide for more information on custom RFCs.
    Best regards,
    Luke
