Idoc packaging - Can it be done this way?

I am just thinking about -
creating a ZIDOC - which would have structures - of type another idoc - say HRMD_A07 (0 to Unbounded). In the other words,
<ZIDOC>
<HRMD_A07></HRMD_A07>
<HRMD_A07></HRMD_A07>
<HRMD_A07></HRMD_A07>
</ZIDOC>
I am not sure if I am putting it correctly...Just have an idea.

Hi,
Do you need some thing like..

  • Upgrading hard drive - can it be done this way?

    I'm very interested in upgrading my hard drive of my macbook pro, I have time machine connected to a WD Mybook and it has given me nothing but problems... randomly disconnecting, and I've tried it with both firewire and usb. I don't want to rely on that to recreate my hard drive so:
    Can I take the new laptop hard drive, plug it into an external enclosure, and then clone my current hard drive on to it?
    What is the simplest procedure/software that I can use to do it? Is there something built into Leopard that will automate the process?

    I just set up a 320 GB WD Scorpio for a backup with 2 bootable clones using Super Duper, with the idea I may eventually put it into my MBP. I haven't done the transplant yet, but I have verified that I can boot from any of the 3 volumes, and you need to boot at least once from the clone you are making to test it out.
    My understanding is that the Mac will try to boot from whatever it booted from the previous time. If it can't find that volume, it will look for another one to boot from and boot from that.
    To get the Mac to boot up from your external disk, go to System Preferences> Startup Disk and select it as your startup disk and restart. When it starts, you will see both the external and the internal on the desktop, with the one you booted from on top. It should continue to boot from that drive until you tell it otherwise.
    Right now your external will have the firewire icon and the internal will have the Macintosh HD icon. Once you put the new one in, it will have the Macintosh HD icon and might even be named Macintosh HD. Or you might have to name it. If you put the old one in your enclosure, it will now have the firewire icon.
    Hard drives are just hard drives. It doesn't matter that the WD was once in an enclosure and used as an external.
    Does this answer your question? If not, please post back.
    Good luck!

  • Edge feather - why is it done this way?

    I wanted to feather the edge of a clip in Motion just like I've done in FCP. I went to the "crop" parameters in Motion expecting to find the edge feather option just like FCP . . .it wasn't there.
    I figured out that I have to apply a mask first and then feather the mask.
    I'm just wondering why it would be done this way in Motion. I can understand that a mask would be more versatile, but why not include a simple "edge feather" option for those frequent times that someone would just want a quick feather?
    Just curious. Any thoughts about that?
    Thanks!

    Jeff Geisel wrote:
    My plan for next time was to feather the edge in FCP then export as Quicktime Movie. Then import the movie into Motion.
    That's just silly, Jeff. You're adding three steps in FCP to avoid ONE step in Motion. On top of that, you're engaging in destructive editing to do so.
    Far be it from me to try to change a person's "workflow", but I suggest again that you'll be happier in the long run learning how to feather in Motion.

    Hi,
    The movie is probably MPEG format.
    QuickTime Pro and iMovie cannot transcode audio contained in MPEG movies.
    Try to convert with SimpleMovieX or MPEG Streamclip instead.

Most of the games can't be played this way, you can't read the chat or access most of the buttons!!! • Resources garbage collection, can be done this way ?

    The problem
    I would like to apply the same concept of garbage collection to system resources like Files, Database resulsets, Sockets etc...
    The reasons
    I am tired of looking around desperately into a program to identify memory leak that are instead resources leak. And this is getting worse while program size grows.
    How it could be done
    -- Let's have a resource manager class from where I get the wanted resource (I will write this class, fairly easy).
    -- Let's say that this manager class is a thread that runs in a scheduled way and this is decided by me (this is also something anybody can write).
    -- Let's say that when it runs it checks for all resources (objects) that it has given to the rest of the program if the reference count greater than one. If it is > 1 then the resource is still in use, else it can be deallocated (that just means calling close and then leaving the object to garbage collect).
    What I need
    A way to know in a reliable way how many objects are having a reference to a given object. Is there such a way ?
    Evangelism on..
    Please, if anybody at Sun is reading this, this IS a TOP issue. If you look around you will see more and more issues of leaking, they are resources leakage because it is NOT easy to ALWAYS close a resource.
    Someone may say "use the finally" of yes, try to think to use the finally to deallocate memory and you will immediatly understand the mess that will come.
    Garbage collection is a good idea let's have a way to apply it to resources.
    Thanks

    I have no problem, as it is, in making applications
    reliable.As usual the problems come in deciding how to do
    things.Yes.
    >
    Which is why mine don't. Since resources are usedin
    so few places it is easy to manage their usage.We are not talking on who has the biggest gun...Eh?
    >
    The sad thing is that the problem most of
    the time is NOT yours but of somebody else thatforgot
    to clean up after himself...Sounds more like a management problem than a code
    problem. If you are allowing programmers in your
    organization to write code which leaks resources oris
    so poorly designed that other users can notproperly
    dispose of resources then it is a managementproblem.
    Ok, let's drop it here.
    I hope you will never have to deal with code other
    that yours or written by your coworkers.
    I always deal with other people's code. And they with mine. Although I occassionally work on one person projects - perhaps 2 weeks every three years. the rest of my career has always involved multi-person projects and often (if not always) involve third party libraries.
    So I believe I have dealt with others code.
    in the applications that I work on.)There is java.lang.ref in a way it seems to dowhat
    I
    want....
    I don't believe so. Finalize() more closely fitswhat
    you might want to do. java.lang.ref is used in
    building caches of disposable entities. And it is
    most definitely only useable with memory.I have a funny sensation that whatever I write you say
    no...Not necessarily.
    Thanks for your help, if anybody wants to add
    something useful to
    what I am tryng to do they are welcome.I am trying to be useful.
    I am trying to point out that you are looking for a new feature in the language that just isn't very useful to most people. I was trying to point out why it wasn't useful to most people.
    Perhaps this might help.
    Look at it this way, go look at the bug database and look at the top vote getters for things that people want fixed. Then you might trying looking through the RFEs for something like you want. If it isn't there then add it. If enough people actually want it then it will be voted for. With enough votes it would have a better chance of being added.
    Of course that presumes it could be done in the first place. Based on my memory of past topics in the forums on reference counting I suspect that the answer is no. But you might want to read those.

  • How does a large company like Verizon think they can treat their customers this way?

    One of the basic phones on my account was lost.  I called to see if there was an upgrade available.  They said that the only one available was on a different phone which was a smart phone. I was told I could transfer the upgrade to the basic phone.  Twice, I asked for verification that this would have no impact on the smart phone nor on the data package.  I was VERY adamant that if it would affect the smart phone or data plan in any way, I would just pay for the basic phone replacement outright without upgrade pricing.  Since I was assured that my plan would not change, I went on a mission to find the appropriate basic phone replacement.  I started out at a Verizon store where they again assured me that I would not affect my plan in any way - the upgrade would just transfer.  They did not have the phone I wanted in stock but suggested that I check at the other vendors to see if it was readily available.  The phone was for someone who was leaving town in 24 hours and I needed it right away.  I located one at Walmart and it happened to be a $.97 phone with upgrade or $39.99 without upgrade.  Since I had multiple assurances from different Verizon direct sources, I purchased the phone st $.97.  Now, my nightmare begins.  Walmart is no longer able to call  for upgrades, they have to register with a chat line and wait for someone to respond.  After 45 minutes of waiting for the chat to respond, I called from my own phone directly to Verizon for the upgrade assistance.  AGAIN, I was assured that the transfer from smart phone to basic phone would not alter the smart phone plan in any way and they proceeded to assist the basic phone upgrade.  Of course, they had to shut down the smart phone, transfer the upgrade, and then restore the smart phone in order to activate the basic phone.  It took an additional 45 minutes to complete the activation - WAY longer than I had anticipated but it was done.  Both phones were up and running and I had accomplished what I needed to get done.  Ten days later, I went on My Verizon and I noticed that the data plan for the smart phone was only 1 GB.  I immediately called and received assistance from a very nice customer service rep who recognized the problem right away and gave me the steps they would need to take in order to correct the problem.  Once again, I was assured that the data plan would remain at unlimited.  She was concerned that the data usage would overrun the 1GB and upped the plan to 6GB so that I would not unwittingly incur overage expense while I was waiting for the correction to be done on my account.  So very thoughtful!   However, they had to send it to the correct department to have the unlimited data returned.  I would receive a call in 48 hours to verify that all was fine.  Meanwhile, I got extremely ill and did not get back to them until 2 weeks later.  Of course, NO ONE FROM VERIZON EVER returned the 48 hour call.  After waiting a half hour for assistance, a message came on that the service center was closed for the evening and gave me the hours of operation so that I could return the call.  Annoying, but it was late at night.  Got up early the next morning to call at 6:30 AM and all hell broke loose.  I calmly explained my dilemma.  They said they understood and they would check my plan for verification.  She came back and said that I was wrong that I still had the unlimited plan but it was on a different phone line now.  UMMM, no, that phone always also had unlimited data, and reiterated the correct phone number to check.  She verified that the correct phone indeed was at 6 GB (as previously mentioned in this post) and since unlimited was no longer available, I could not add it arbitrarily to another line.  Again, I explained that I already had the unlimited data and that Verizon arbitrarily withdrew it.  I was assured it would not change and was told that someone from some unseen higher department was supposedly correcting the problem.  "Oh, now I get it!", she says.  She would be glad to lower my phone bill by reviewing my entire plan and changing it to a lower monthly fee!  WHAT, how do we go from incorrectly recorded data plan to revamping my entire plan so that I could lower my monthly fees?  Then she tells me that they had appealed the data plan change and it was denied?  What did I expect?  I had upgraded my smart phone.  HUH? What appeal, are there copies, was it correctly identified for approval, how did we get to this point?  I requested a manager.  This devil in disguise tells me they can do what they want because I signed a contract that upgraded my smart phone!  NO, I did not!  It clearly stated the basic phone number!  A few more unprofessional barbs from her and again I ask for management as well as the procedure and phone number for the Utilities commission or whomever I would register a complaint with.  She tells me that she has no idea what I am talking about.  She would google it for me.  However, if I would just let her adjust my plan, I could lower my monthly bill.  Not once did I ever complain about my monthly bill!  (Although I should at $300 a month).  I asked if she was refusing to help me register my complaint.  She told me I was refusing her help to lower my bill!  NOW it becomes a shouting match.  She finally agrees to escalate this to an additional appeal but don't expect anything because they won't approve it.  Someone will get back in touch with me in 24 hours.  I'm at 48 hours plus and no return call.  However, thank you for being a satisfied customer since 1995!  BBB and FCC are next on my list.  You can also be sure that I am researching alternative companies for my next loyal 20 years.  I don't understand how they can say or do what they want and get away with it.  This is at least the third time they have given me assurances of service and it never came through or they basically told me to pound salt, they can do what they want.  It is a shame that I have to change companies because I can no longer tolerate their lies and deceit.  Verizon coverage is undeniably the largest by far, but I am sure I will be able to find service with other companies that will do just fine.  PS!  After all of this, that darned lost basic phone was found!

    Today, my FCC complaint hit the same person working on the BBB complaint.  Jimmie has been very nice and seems willing to work with this problem.  We have been able to come to an agreement.  I paid the purchase price for the phone and he returned my upgrade and unlimited data plan.  This is what would have occurred if Verizon had given me correct information to begin with.  I am happy with this result.  He also brought quite a few instances concerning the handling of my transfer and upgrade that did not follow proper procedure.  I am also confident that I would not have resolved this without complaining to BBB and or FCC.  Verizon had no interest in solving the problem nor did they show any propensity to keeping a 20 year client.  Even though this last CSR was very polite and helpful, his sole job is to respond to formal Federal and State complaints.  He is required by law to address every complaint and report the reporting agency the agreed upon results - good or bad.  Again, I suggest - If you are not getting the proper customer service, complain to someone outside of Verizon.  Jimmie had not received any complaints registered with Verizon directly and I still have not had any contact with any other management representative that I was told would call.

  • Why do server.app crash sometimes? Can I use it this way as a router?

    Hi everyone!
    I have a problem, sometimes the server.app crash, I don't know why.
    The Mac OS system do not crash, It's just the server.app.
    You can se the crash logg in the buttom of this post, I have three logg files.
    I also have an other quastion, I want to use the mac mini as a router but in a special way.
    It's importen that all of my devices can access the mac mini server.
    I thinking of buying an thunderbolt -> ethernet adapter so I can use the mac mini as a router.
    I got 1000Mbit internet connection and my router can just get like 600mbit passtrough from wan -> lan port.
    If I set it up likes this, shod it work?
    Internet ---> Mac mini ---> every device I use with eithernet cable, like 10 devices.
                        |
                        --> Router --> Wifi devices like iPhone / iPad.
    If I set it up like that can every device access the mac mini in the same network?
    Here is the latest crash logg file from the mac mini:

  • OS X Server - Can it be used this way?

    Want to teach myself CMS over the next couple of months while I'm on study leave - Saw that Mavericks allow a OS X Server - can I install this on my macbook pro and use a Joomla CMS System on it and teach myself CMS?  As i dont want to have to pay monthly server fees etc when I can just do it on my mac Would this work?
    Want to also be able to use the computer in a normal way too without devoting it to just the server...

    There is no need for Server at all. Joomla just needs Apache working and preferrably a MySQL install. Apache is already on your system and MySQL can be downloaded from Oracle. No cost and it's an easy install. Joomla is PHP and does not do anything on its own. So just install and start playing with. When you don't play and learn, nothing happens on you computer. If yoou want to there are preconfigured (VMWare) virtual machines available for download that are loaded with some Linux and ready to be used, everything installed and configured.
    Just go and download the latest Joomla and be happy

  • Why the method can be called in this way?

    Hi all,
    The following is JAVA SWING TREE custom data models program. There are two files in the program: one is TestFrame.java, and the other is MyDataModel.java. I only posted the important part on the Forum.My question is how method getChild(...) in MyDataModel.java was called in the program? Why I couldn't see the statement like tree.getChild(..) in TestFrame.java? After adding PRINT statements, I know the method getChild(..) was called automatically when object tree was initialized , but I don't know why. Thank you in advance.
    ======
    TestFrame.java
    // Imports
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.tree.*;
    class TestFrame extends JFrame
    // Instance attributes used in this example
    private JPanel topPanel;
    private JTree tree;
    private JScrollPane scrollPane;
    // Constructor of main frame
    public TestFrame()
    // Create a new tree control
    MyDataModel treeModel = new MyDataModel( root );
    tree = new JTree(treeModel);
    =========
    ==========
    MyDataModel.java
    import javax.swing.tree.*;
    class MyDataModel extends DefaultTreeModel
    private DefaultMutableTreeNode root;
    private String rootName = "";
    public MyDataModel( TreeNode root )
    super( root );
    DefaultMutableTreeNode parentNode = (DefaultMutableTreeNode)root;
    rootName = (String)parentNode.getUserObject();
    System.out.println("rootName is: "+rootName);
    public Object getChild( Object parent, int index )
    DefaultMutableTreeNode parentNode = (DefaultMutableTreeNode)parent;
    String parentName = (String)parentNode.getUserObject();
    System.out.println("parentName is: "+parentName);
    if( parentName.equals( rootName ) )
    return super.getChild( parent, index );
    else
    return new DefaultMutableTreeNode( cardArray[index] );
    }

    This is the first time I saw this usage. I understood it now, but I was afraid I missed some important concepts on "interface as parameter in the constructor". Therefore, I am wondering where I can find some online document about it in order to understand the usage clearly.
    For example, if there are a few method implementations of interface TreeModel in MyDataModel.java, which methods will it call after calling JTree constructor? all methods or only part of them?
    Thanks

  • Can I install Tiger this way?

    I've just bought a 300mhz Blueberry iBook with 288mb ram on ebay. I want to install Tiger on it. I have a G4 867mhz Powerbook, can I do the following:
    Put a new 40gb drive into the PB
    Install Tiger on it
    Then put the new hd into my new iBook
    I have the full procedure for removing the hd from the iBook (55 steps in and out).
    Thanks
    Dave

    I'm not totally convinced this is appropriate. Apple doesn't support Tiger on iBook 300MHz. Panther is the highest supported OS. The OS X Installer will tailor an install to a particular machine - the one it's been run on - not sure how much though - so you may find difficulties later.288Mb is also really too small an amount of RAM for Tiger if you want to do anything other than Internet/Office use.
    However, if you do have Tiger Retail you can exchange the DVDs for CDs and use XPostFacto if you're really keen.
    Installing Panther would be much more suitable.

  • Scanning Nightmare with Mountain Lion... can it really be this way?

    I am running mountain lion and scanning from my HP 8600 Pro E using the built in Mountain Lion scanning software.
    Here is my issue, if I scan multiples pages and do not have the "Combine PDF" checkbox marked each page is created as a PDF.  If i do check it, it combines the current scan AND the previous scan.
    My only work around is to delete a scan before scanning a new set of pages.
    Seems like an obvious bug, what am I doing wrong?  How can it be that I cannot scan multiple pages without a headache?
    If you can shed some light on this i'd be soooo appreciative, have a good gift for the best answer!

    Hi,
    Why dont you use the HP Scan application? It will allow scanning multiple pages from the document feeder in a single click, OCR capabilities, scanning from the printer front panel, etc.
    You may find the software below, be sure to select HP Recommended Software during the installation screens:

    Hope that helps,

  • Instanceof + enumeration - can I use it this way?

    I use GWT. This framework allows to transfer Java objects from server (Java) to client (JavaScript) and back.
    So, the problem is:
    On the server-side comes ArrayList with Objects (classes: Hat, Glove, Food,Medicine) .
    All these classes are subclasses of GameItem.
    Hat, Glove are subclasses of Cloth.
    Cloth is also the subclass of GameItem.
    So, inheritance looks like:
    GameItem-> children:(*Cloth,* Food, Medicine)
    Cloth->children:(Hat,Glove)
    Server-side has enumeration:
    public enum CreatureGameItems {
        CreaturesClothes("clothes",new ru.gamedev.client.gameitem.Cloth().getClass()),
        CreaturesWeapon("weapon",new ru.gamedev.client.gameitem.Weapon().getClass()),
        CreatureToy("toys",new ru.gamedev.client.gameitem.Toy().getClass());
        CreatureGameItems(String itemName,Class javaClassOfItem){
            this.itemName = itemName;
            this.classOfItem = javaClassOfItem;
        private String itemName;   //keeps id of GameItemType
        private Class classOfItem;
        public String getItemName(){
            return this.itemName;
        public Class getStoredClass(){
            return classOfItem;
    } As you can see, my enum returns String value and Class associated with the member of enum.
    I want to do this thing:
    public boolean buySelectedGameItems(ArrayList<GameItem> inputList, int userId){
           System.out.println("BUYING ITEMS");
           for(int i=0; i<inputList.size(); i++){                       //go through all items
               for(CreatureGameItems c: CreatureGameItems.values()){    //go through all Items
                   if( (inputList.get(i) instanceof c.getStoredClass()) ){  //PAY ATTENTION TO THIS CODE LINE
                       System.out.println("item::: " + inputList.get(i).getClass() + "::: class ::: " + c.getStoredClass());
               }//CreatureGameItems
           }//i
           //&#1083;&#1091;&#1095;&#1096;&#1077; &#1087;&#1086;&#1083;&#1091;&#1095;&#1072;&#1090;&#1100; &#1086;&#1089;&#1090;&#1072;&#1090;&#1086;&#1082; &#1089;&#1095;&#1077;&#1090;&#1072; &#1087;&#1086;&#1083;&#1100;&#1079;&#1086;&#1074;&#1072;&#1090;&#1077;&#1083;&#1103; &#1080; &#1074;&#1086;&#1079;&#1074;&#1088;&#1072;&#1097;&#1072;&#1090;&#1100; &#1077;&#1075;&#1086;. &#1045;&#1089;&#1083;&#1080; &#1089; &#1074;&#1086;&#1079;&#1074;&#1088;&#1072;&#1090;&#1086;&#1084; &#1086;&#1073;&#1083;&#1086;&#1084;, &#1074;&#1099;&#1082;&#1080;&#1076;&#1086;&#1074;&#1072;&#1090;&#1100; &#1074;&#1089;&#1077; &#1085;&#1072;&#1093;&#1077;&#1088;
           return true;
       }I go through input Arraylist and my enum members. If I find equality between member and ArrayList object, I want to perform dome actions.
    I get such error: *")" expected*
    I understand, that my code is not right, but can I correct it and use enum

    I found solution:
    for(int i=0; i<inputList.size(); i++){
               for(CreatureGameItems c: CreatureGameItems.values()){
                   if(inputList.get(i).getClass() == (c.getStoredClass()) ){//check strict equality between classes
                       //perform my action
                       break;
                   if(inputList.get(i) instanceof Cloth) { //get children of Cloth class
                       //perform my action
                       break;
          }

  • Can I Set Accounts This Way?

    I have 3 accounts on this iMac...mine (administrator), my wife, and Guest.
    Is it possible to set things up so that if I, for example, walk away from my Mac for a time, when the computer is awakened from screensaver or sleep mode, it displays the three accounts and requires login to the selected one?
    Setting the Security System Preference to "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screensaver" is of limited value in my house, as it would require passing out my password just to restart into a different user account.
    (As may be obvious, I haven't started looking into Accounts until recently...there may be obvious things I don't understand as yet).

    The problem with auto logout is that it will close all of the users' applications and documents after the period of inactivity, which mostly defeats the purpose of fast user switching.
    I have a couple of more ideas for you.
    There is a screensaver called Ciao, that works like a normal screensaver, but fast switches to the login window when it activates. If you use this it would cover the wake-from-screensaver problem.
    As for the wake from sleep issue, I have set up an Automator script on a hot key that does two things in one shot: It switches to the login window and then puts my Mac to sleep. Whenever I want to sleep my Mac I just press command-F13 and it's done. The next person to wake it up sees the login window. Ask me for more help on how to set it up if you like.
    If you use both of these in tandem it should do what you want.

  • Macbook Air won't boot - can I recover files this way?

    I have a 1st-gen Macbook Air that won't boot.  Will the following work to access any files on the hard disk?
    1) attach powered USB hub to Air
    3) attach external USB DVD drive to hub
    3) hold down <option> and boot Air from 10.6 retail install DVD
    4) attach external USB hard disk to hub
    5) copy file from internal Air hard disk to external USB hard disk
    Will that work?
    Can I boot from a USB DVD drive that's connected through a hub?
    Do I have to use an Apple Superdrive or will a 3rd party DVD drive work?
    Thanks!

    Axe,
    Does it see the drive at least in Disk Utility and just not a mount point? If Disk Utility won't even recognize the drive over the PATA connection it's unlikely you'd be able to use terminal to extract data. If it sees the drive and the mount point is grayed out this would indicate directory damage (usually). If it sees the drive and there's no mount point this is often an indication of partition corruption or worse, hardware failure.
    Hard drives are "funky" when they fail, sometimes. I've seen them lock up the I/O bus and prevent any action on behalf of the startup sequence. Only when the drive is removed and hooked up to an external drive dock/sled will it mount. The problem, here, is that the 1st generation HD has this really funky PATA/ZIF connection and most standard drive docks/sleds won't work.
