Idoc to BPM Failure

I am getting occasional problems with a custom idoc that is being passed to a BPM process.
The idoc is passed to a BPM process.
The BPM vefifies that the content is valid for purposes, and if it is then passes it on to a second receiver determination.  If not, then the idoc is ignored.
The majority of the time this works perfectly.
Occasionally however, I get an error in that the first receiver determination that uses the BPM says it is successful, but the message never gets passed to the second part.
The only error showing (that I have been able to find)  the Outbound Status which says 'Message has error on outbd. side'.
My suspicion is that this is due to a problem with java memory, as it only happens when the servers have been running for a number of weeks without a restart.
However, I wonder if anyone else has had similar problems an can shed any further light on this.  Not least being how I can get alerts to report the error.
Thanks in adance

Udo,
thanks for your time and help on this.
I've checked SM21 and there are a couple of CPIC errors at roughly the time in question - but the detail in them does not help much.
In terms of ST06, our CPU and memory is always max'd out at that time of day.  we send the vast majoitiry of our messages between midnight and 3AM.
The scenario is fairly simple.
We send a custom idoc from our R/3 system.
A receiver determination is set to receive this and pass it to a BPM.
The BPM consists of a mapping that sets a flag in the output depending on certian aspects of the content.
This output is then passed to a second receiver determination which maps it and then uses the Seeburger BIC tool and creates a flat Tradacoms format file.
As far as I can tell, the idoc is being sent successfully.
It is received and passed to the BPM.
The BPM maps is successfully.
The message never gets to the second receiver determination.

  • Error receiving IDOC in BPM

    hi all
I'm doing a BPM scenario in which i want to receive an IDOC.
    The scenario goes like this:
an IDOC is sent from source(from SWCV1) and an interface mapping(done in SWCV2) is done before the IDOC is received in the BPM.I have made an abstract async interface(done is SWCV2) for the IDOC which receives the IDOC in BPM.
The source is sending the IDOC successfully and the Interface mapping also happens properly.
My problem is that the IDOC is not entering the BPM.'Permanent error in BPE inbound processing' is shown.
Simulate message delivery shows:Result of simulation: Message starts a new process
I have no clue what the error is.Please help.

    Hi,
You can go to the message in SXMB_MONI and from there go to engine column of the displayed message. In case of BPM, you will have PE there instead of IE or AE. Now click on PE and it will take you to the actual BPM. There you can drill down and try to figure out if the BPM instance has started correctly or what exactly the error is.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Multiple files to idoc without bpm

    Hi
I have gone through the previous threads and came to know that n:1 is not possible without bpm. But in case of idocs you can collect them in r/3 system itself using RSEOUT00 program. But if my scenario is like.......you have 10 files which are coming through ftp and we have  to send the idoc to the target system. Is there any way to do this scenario without bpm ??

  • IDOC to BPM to File

    Hi Gurus,
I have a scenario where by i will need to collect idocs from an R3 system, perform a transformation and output the results into a flat file.
I looked at various blogs but am still pretty confused.
For my scenario, do i need to configure a receiver determination to pass the idocs into BPM?
( If the answer is no, how does the idoc get pass into the BPM? )
or do i just need 1 receiver determination to output my result from the BPM into a flat file?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
At the moment i have 2 receiver determination
      1. from R3 Outbound async to abstract async of BPM
      2. from BPM abstract async to inbound async
      1 receiver agreement
BPM to a service with a file adapter
I've also configured another simple scenario without BPM, just sending a IDOC from R/3 to XI with a simple transformation and exporting the output into a flat file. Its working fine and im able to see the XML messages in SXMB_MONI.
However, for the BPM, when i try to click on the process view via SXMB_MONI, it says no message found. I'm suspecting that somehow the idoc is not even passed to the BPM but i am unable to see where have i gone wrong.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    THanks in advance.

Here i am trying to collect IDOCs for 5 minutes and i need to send them in XML format. Here i have mapping logic and that logic is working perfectly.
    What i am dong is
    1. I am sending IDOCs from R3 system to BPM in XI. ( Here to push IDOCs from R3 system to BPM, do we need to do extra ALE settings. Actually With out BPM simple IDOC to File is working fine, With BPM only i am having error. )
    2. How to reslove above problem. AS per my understanding everthing is fine.
    Thanks,
    Subbu

    Hi Rama Subbarao,
Error: Check with your loop condition and process steps.
Collecting of IDOCS using BPM is good, If u want to send the 100 IDOCS per one hour with single BPM it will takes times , Some performs issues and hardware issues are raising.
Suppose if u send 1000 Idocs per one hour it will takes much time.
    Other Process:
The collecting of IDOCS it will be downloaded into FILE System.Once IDOCS is downloaded into FILE, it will be not changed the IDOCS.
Using FILE Adapter we send the flatfiles data from FILE System to XI. if  u using this process performance wise its very good.

  • File to idoc with BPM

    Hi All,
I have  one  File to IDoc Scenario. Now I want to throw  posting error in a file.
i.e., if mapping goes not well and when IDoc is being sent to Recipient system then if any posting error is encountered, then a file(Flat file) will be created at sending system side.
I am planning to design this scenario with BPM. Now end user requires a akwoledgement for this scenario eithere it may be succsess or failure in file format. If succsess the file will be created with succsess information(any format), either failure also file will be created with error information. The user requires only file format b'coz this file will be read by another java application (user didn't require to his mail).
Can anybody suggest the solution for this:
    1. How to generate aknowledgement file for sucsess or failure.
    2. How to use this file to idoc scenario in BPM with out using Alert configuration or Mail adapter.
    Regards,
    Konala.

    Hi,
As you know Idocs are used for asynch communication, only was to get acknowledgemnet is using ALEAUDIT. For your scenario there can be one work around. When you post IDoc in the, in that function module after the posting is done call one more RFC with the the success/failure message which will trigger RFC to File sceanrio.
If you get any other solution, please post it back to same thread.
    Thanks,
    Prateek

  • Processing large volume of idocs using BPM Processing

    Hi,
I have a scenario in which SAP R/3 sends large volume say 30,000 DEBMAS Idocs to XI. XI then sends data to 3 legacy systems using jdbc adapter.
I created a BPM Process which waits for 4 hrs to collect all the idocs. This is what my BPM does:
    1. Wait for 4 hrs Collect the idocs
    2. For every idoc do a IDOC->JDBC Message transformation.
    3. Append to a Big List
    4. Loop at the Big list from step 4 and in the loop for
    5. Start counter from 0 and increment. Append to a Small List.
    6. if counter reaches 100 then send a Batch JDBC Message in send step.
    7. Reset counter after every send.
    8. Process remaining list i.e if there was an odd count of say 5300 idoc then the remaining 53 idocs will be sent in anther block.
After sending 5000 idocs to above BPM following problems are there:
    1. I cannot read the workflow log as system does not respond.
    2. In the For Each loop which loops through the big list of say 5000 idocs only first pass of 100 was processed after that the workflow item is not moving ahead. It remains in the status as "STARTED" but I do not see further processing.
Please tell me why certain Work Items are stuck is it becuase I have reached upper limit and is this the right approach? The Main BPM Process is also hanging from last 2 days.
I have concerns about using BPM for processing such high volume of idocs in production. Please advice and thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
Please read SAPs Checklist for proper usage of BPMs: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/d92e428819da2ce10000000a1550b0/content.htm
One point i'm wondering about is why do you send the IDocs out of R/3 one by one and don't use packaging there? From a performance stand point this is much better than a bpm.
The SAP Checklist states the following:
    <i>"No Replacement for Mass Interfaces
Check whether it would not be better to execute particular processing steps, for example, collecting messages, on the sender or receiver system.
If you only want to collect the messages from one business system to forward them together to a second business system, you should do so by using a mass interface and not an integration process.
If you want to split a message up into lots of individual messages, also use a mass interface instead of an integration process. A mass interface requires only a fraction of the back-end system and Integration-Server resources that an integration process would require to carry out the same task. "</i>
Also you might want to have a look at the IDoc packaging capabilities within XI (available since SP14 i believe): http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7a/00143f011f4b2ee10000000a114084/content.htm
And here is Sravyas good blog about this topic: /people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/12/09/xiidoc-message-packages
If for whatever reason you can't or don't want to use the IDoc packets from R/3 or XI there are other points on which you can focus for optimizing your process:
In the section "Using the Integration Server Efficiently" there is an overview on which steps are costly and which steps are not so costly in their resource consumption. Mappings are one of the steps that tend to consume a lot of resources and unless it is a multi mapping that can not be executed outside a BPM there is always the option to do the mapping in the interface determination either before or after the BPM. So i would sugges if your step 2 is not a multi mapping you should try to execute it before entering the BPM and just handle the JDBC Messages in the BPM.
Wait steps are also costly steps, so reducing the time in your wait step could potentially lead to better performance. Or if possible you could omitt the wait step and just create a process that waits for 100 messages and then processes them.
    Regards
    Christine

  • File sender adapter:FILE to IDOC without BPM, can't see in SXMB_MONI.

    Hi all
I have a FILE - XI - IDOC Async scenario without BPM.
I configured FILE sender adapter and IDOC receiver adapter. I made a mapping to transfer file data to the structure of IDOC.
Now when i am trying to load the file using command prompt, i cud see nothing in the monitoring. Whereas if i go to the communication channel monitoring of runtime workbench, i saw that CC is polling correctly and was reading the file also.
And also wen i saw in the processed folder which i mentioned in the CC configuration for the ARCHIVE DIRECTORY, i saw that file got transferred to the folder also.
I don't understand why i cant see anything in the monitoring.
Could anybody help me to rectify the problem. Is there anything i m missing ?
    Regards
    Naina

    Rajesh/Amar
    TCode:: SXMB_ADM->Integration engine configuration->specific configuration->runtime
Trace_Level = 3 then you can get all MONI PIPELINE Steps also
I did this change but cudn't see anything in SXMB_MONI.
This is how i have configured my process:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/FiletoMultipleIDOCSplittingwithoutBPM
But instead of IDOC splitting i have simple FILE - XI -IDOC scenario.
I have configured everything exaclty the same way it is mentioned here. But for me the process is not visible at all.
I can't even see the first request message in the monitoring.
This is the message i can see in the communication channel monitoring:
2010-05-24 09:07:41 Success Channel CC_*: Entire file content converted to XML format
2010-05-24 09:07:41 Warning Channel CC_*: Empty document found. Proceed without sending message
2010-05-24 09:07:41 Success File "/xyz/ABC.txt" archived after processing
Is there any problem with the file and that could be the reason it cant convert the file to the request message MT_REQUEST and thus am not able to see anything in monitoring.
    help me guys....this is a simple process and i m stuck...its frustrating

  • File to Idocs using BPM

    Hi,
Current Interface Flow - File (xml) to Idoc (single Idoc type)
Thirdparty sends a File for Goods Receipt. This file may have multiple orders.
Orders are sorted in an xslt by ORDNUM. Each record has a delivery type (Deliver Type PO or Delivery Type STO). For each order Graphical Message mapping occurs.
In case of PO, inbound delivery number and item number have to be received from ECC via an RFC call and passed to VBELN and POSNR. While in case of STO, source field ORDNUM and ORDITEM are passed to VBELN and POSNR. (RFC call happens only for POs, not for STOs)
In case of STO, TCode  will be MB0A.and IDoc would be WMMBXY (As is the case right now)
In case of PO, there may be two cases -
         a) There is at least one response from ECC for all the line items inside an order --> in this case TCode will be MB0A and IDoc is  WMMBXY .
         b) If there is no inbound delivery number for any line item from ECC inside an order --> TCode MB01 will be used and IDoc used is WMMBXY
So for all the above cases Target IDoc is WMMBXY.
Changes to be done - Now  File (xml) to Idoc (Two different Idoc types, WMMBXY and DELIVERY03)
Now there is an additional requirement that I will be using an additional IDoc (DELIVERY03) in above case a).
I want to use BPM in this case
    1) RFC call in message mapping to get the inbound delivery number (for POs only) (Should be before the message enters BPM)
    2) Separating the messages based on IDoc type
    3) Interface / Message mapping for each IDoc type
    4)Send the message to ECC
Please suggest how to proceed with BPM

  • Counting the number of IDocs in a package of IDocs in BPM

    Hello All,
I need a solution where I need to count the number of EDI_DC40  segments (The IDoc Count) in a package of IDoc's. The following is the scenario
    1) We are receiving a package of IDoc's in receive step using the XI File Adapter. I was wondering if there is a way that I can count the number of IDoc's in the BPM using a container operation or some other Method. I appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

    HI,
    We have two ooptions,
one as explained above , yu can use standard count function and that can be used.
Second one is we have count option in file adapter to count the msgs.

  • IDOC-WS-IDOC-(no bpm) Possible??.

    Hi Experts,
Please can anyone advise how to do the following scenario.
    1.Outbound Idoc to Webservice.
2.Response of the webservice through PI should trigger an inbound idoc.
Can this be done without a bpm??.
I tried with a message interface MIOS with 2 external definations for the 2 idocs.. to be mapped to MIIS from webservice.
But it says no reciever could be determined in moni, shows the cc  for the webservice to be in inactive status.(its active and added to scenario).
Any other views on how can it be acheived?.. please advice.
    Thanks a lot.

I think its not possible because IDOC is not sync.Should use BPM

  • IDOC - XI(BPM) - IDOC

    Hi,
Does anybody has a documentation regarding how to set up an IDOC - XI - IDOC scenario using a BPM. Coz' currently I have an error from BPM - IDOC as the error "Unable to convert the sender service SC_PO_idoc2idoc to an ALE logical system". SC_PO_idoc2idoc is my BPM.
    Thanks
    Zubair

I've done all the necessary however still giving me the same problem, one thing I realize our XI box is currently running on SP10 this could be the problem so we've decide to upgrade it to SP11.
    1. we have sp10 and the problem doesn't exist
Integration Directory and just happened that same Logical system has been used by another system then it would raised an error to my BPM saying "Check Result for Object SC_PO_idoc2idoc Logical system M01CLNT200 already exists in service | BS_JOBSKL_200" when I'm trying to SAVE the changes to my BPM.
    2. but if you have 2 different systems why are you using the same name? they must be different as they represent 2 different systems
Is this a bugs in SP10 as well, do you face any problem like this before. Because if this is an issue then it will be a disaster if we have many interface coming into XI and need to be send to one same BS which the logical system is unique.
    3. Like you wrote "logical system is unique" so you can't have two business systems with the same logical system name
This means that "to be send to one same BS which the logical system is unique" can be easily achived - don't worry.

  • JDBC to IDOC using BPM

    Hi Experts,
I am doing the scenario JDBC to IDOC
Note: i need a solution without stored procedures
My requirement is , in sender JDBC side
    1) We need to select data from 3 tables from the DB ( I think we can do this by JOIN query specified in the channel)
    2) after selecting data we need to update all 3 tables
(I think we can't do this, as we have only one update option in the sender JDBC channel). So i want to go for BPM.
    Can we do like this...??
    2 mappings:
    --> sender JDBC o/p structure (MT-1)   to  IDOC structure(MT-2)                                         (MM-1)---->  (IM-1)
    --> sender JDBC o/p structure (MT-1)  to  JDBC update structure (for 3 tables) (MT-3)                 (MM-2) ----> (IM-2)
    BPM:
    MT-1                    (IM-1)                                                     (IM-2)
Receive           Trnsformation             AsyncSend to R/3             Transformation             Async Send to JDBC(Receiver)
      Step                    Step1                                                   Step2
MT = Message Type;   MI = Message Interface;    IM = Interface mapping;    MM = Message mapping
Edited by: murali krishna on Mar 9, 2010 8:24 AM

u do not require a BPM..
the method that u specified is right..
    mappings:
    --> sender JDBC o/p structure (MT-1)   to  IDOC structure(MT-2)                                         (MM-1)---->  (IM-1)
    --> sender JDBC o/p structure (MT-1)  to  JDBC update structure (for 3 tables) (MT-3)                 (MM-2) ----> (IM-2)
just in the 2nd mapping that updates the tables the receiver service is same as the sender ..
also specify both the mappings in the interface determination...first the update mapping and then the Idoc one and click the maintain order at runtime so that Idoc is trigeered only after update mapping is done..
