IDS5.1 SP1 upgrade from 5.1 - Solaris

Hi,
We are trying to upgrade from 5.1 to 5.1 SP1 on Solaris. Ran the idsktune, and installed necessary patches. Made sure that admin server and slapd is running before istallation. Got the following error
ERROR: Could not update Directory Server Instance
ERROR. Failure installing iPlanet Directory Server. Do you want to continue [n]?
Any Ideas ?
Thanks
Chandra mouli.

Hi,
Was this problem ever resolved? I'm having an almost identical problem when upgrading 5.1 to 5.1sp1 (gives a 153:unknown error rather than 19). We're running Solaris 8, local hosts, no NIS, no DNS.
Cheers
Simon

  • Upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 to R2 Fails - Unsupported Upgrade Path

    Hi everybody,
    I'm currently upgrading our SCCM infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 after have finished with the upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 CU4, thus far everything works fine, but when I try to update any
    of the site servers, whether CAS or Primary, I'm getting the following error message in the Prerequisites Check:
    I've gone through the system requirements and prerequisites over and over again and I can assure you that every possible update, supported OS, feature set, SQL Server, check list, etc,
    etc, have been followed as per the official documentation available, however I'm stuck in this point, and surely enough I haven't been able to find out a similar case.Additionally I'm adding
    the ConfigMgrPrereq log (the relevant portion of it) in case someone could kindly take a look at it.

    I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
    on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
    I've already tried the
    Preinst /DELSITE XXX  command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
    Finally,  the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
    the impression that it's being cached somehow.
    Any help would be highly appreciated,
    Thank you.

    Hello again everybody,
    I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
    primary sites.
    If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
    DELETE
    FROMServerDataWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    DELETE
    FROMSC_SiteDefinitionWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.
    Thank you all anyways for your answers and comments,
    Marcelo Estrada MCP-MCTS-MCITP-MCSA-MCSE

  • Problems after upgrade from SCVMM 2012 Sp1 to SCVMM 2012 R2

    I did a in-place (uninstall VMM2012 Sp1, retain the database, and install VMM2012 R2 point to old database) upgrade. All the steps work fine.
    The only problem (so far) is that when I create a new VM using a custom template (for example, Windows 2008 R2), the deploy fail with the following error:
    Error (2912)
    An internal error has occurred trying to contact the vm-scvmm2012.domain.com server: NO_PARAM: NO_PARAM.
    WinRM: URL: [http://vm-scvmm2012.domain.com:5985], Verb: [INVOKE], Method: [GetError], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/microsoft/bits/BitsClientJob?JobId={56B8E488-5DB9-4CC1-BEFA-AFF76E1E4D2D}]
    Unknown error (0x80072f0d)
    Recommended Action
    Check that WS-Management service is installed and running on server vm-scvmm2012.domain.com. For more information use the command "winrm helpmsg hresult". If vm-scvmm2012.domain.com is a host/library/update server or a PXE server role then ensure
    that VMM agent is installed and running. Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.
    Information (26278)
    VMM could not offload transfer the file \\vm-scvmm2012.domain.com\MSSCVMMLibrary\VHDs\Template_Windows_2008_R2_SP1.vhdx to C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\VM-NEWVM\Template_Windows_2008_R2_SP1.vhdx.
    Any ideas?

    I have a similar problem when migrating VMs from Windows 2008 R2 (Non Clustered) Hyper-V to Windows 2012 Hyper Cluster. I had previously migrated about 100 VMs like this with no problem. It appears since upgrading from VMM SP1 Rollup 4 to Rollup 5 this problem
    is happening. All Agents are up to date.
    I can migrate VMs in the cluster no problem.
    I removed the Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V host and added it back which allowed the job to at least start but when it gets to the final steps of importing the VM it fails with the same error and references the VMM server.
    Others suggest this is a VMM Certificate problem and you can remove the Cluster node and add it back again but I can't do that in a production Cluster with hundreds of VMs. That is not an acceptable solution.
    How can we fix this?

  • Proxy upgrade from SP1 to SP5 doesn't work anymore for virus scanning.

    Upgraded from SP1 to SP5 and the virus scanning updates no longer work. No changes have been made it is a complete carbon copy using the migrate button. No ip addresses have been altered nor has the ports been changed. I've tried SP2, 3 & 4 and they too fail with a 504 error log. I turned SP1 back on and it works first time.
    If you can solve this I'll be so impressed because its driving me crazy. I've checked all config files and everything is as it should be.

    Hi
    This thread was interesting as I have many customer sites using virus scanning without any problems together with this proxy.. Some sites are really huge as well.
    Can the author of this thread explain how the scanning that now refuse to work is done with the proxyserver... Through an API or as forwarded requests to another scanning proxy (trend micro etc.) or what ? Maybe this is done in some way I am not aware of. Then I am really interested in your problem.
    We mostly use it "user->proxy->vscanner->site" where the proxy and the scanner often run at the same host. This in huge installations together with load balancers infront and behind.

    Here is a curly one for the Sun gurus.

    But the upgrade just fails. I would like to keep the disk array and its data intact for the upgrade as it has Oracle 11i Apps databases and its a bit of work redefining the metastat and loading Oracle, and the other bits it needs, as well as Netbackup etc.
    So, are there are any bright sparks out there that can help?

  • Solaris 10 upgrade from U3 to U8

    Hi Gurus,
    I need to upgrade solaris 10 from U3 to U8, we tried a unsuccessful failure
    after creating a boot environment when we tried to upgrade from DVD 10/09
    with command
    luupgrade -u BE -s /cdrom
    it complaint about a one file in some path (not sure the exact file name)
    /cdrom/SOLARIS_10/TOOLS/BOOT/PLATFORM/SUN4U
    has anyone see this error before and
    when we tried to upgrade from DVD directly with command
    ok>boot cdrom -upgrade
    it never asked me if i want to upgrade and do a fresh installation it just installed fresh OS.
    any help is much apprecited.
    BR,
    Kapil+

    With latest version of live upgrade you need to add -k <sysidcfg file> to upgrade line. The following is the
    luupgrade command line that I most recently used
    luupgrade -u -n <ABE name> -k /root/sysidcfg -s /cdrom/cdrom0
    I have attached file that explains entries in sysidcfg.
    Below is the sysidcfg file that I created for this servers.
    root@xxxx # cat sysidcfg
    name_service=DNS
    domain_name=xx.xx.xx
    name_server=xx.xx.xx.xx
    network_interface=ge0 { hostname=xxx
    ip_address=xx.xx.xx.xx
    netmask=255.255.255.0
    protocol_ipv6=no
    default_route=xx.xx.xx.xx}
    keyboard=US-English
    system_locale=en_US
    timezone=US/Central
    terminal=sun-cmd
    system_locale=C
    Make sure that you get on the console when you reboot to the new OS. I always get some dumb question, such as "What is the terminal type?", when I upgrade the os.
    You probably want to do an ls /cdrom (or whatever) and you should get something similiar to the following:
    $ ls
    Copyright boot
    GPL_LGPL_Source_Offer.txt installer
    Solaris_10 platform

  • Upgrading from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10

    Hi
    I am in the process of upgrading from Solaris 8 to 10 on a sparc server.
    What I would like to know if anyone has experienced compatibility issues during the upgrade with the Korn and C Shell as well as perl.

    Upgrades from either Solaris 8 or 9 are supported (see the Release Notes http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-0552 section on "Changes in Upgrade Support for Solaris Releases").
    As for whether to upgrade or install anew, it depends. If you just want to have the system set up as much as possible like it is now except with the new OS, upgrade. If you'd like a chance for a fresh start, where you may have to do some work re-applying configuration and other changes you made, but end up leaving behind some old changes you no longer need, then an initial install might be appropriate.

    I am currently investigating upgrading an Ultra 60 machine from Solaris 7 to Solaris 8. I would like to save the data on the machine, if possible. Is there any way to do this? The only thing that I can find is downloads to get the entire Solaris 8 on three CDs, and it doesn't sound like it would save the data on the disk. (Though I don't know - this is the first time that I am upgrading from 7 to 8.) Any links of answers would be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks!

    You're talking about 2 different things.
    1. Downloading and "burning" CD images
    2. Upgrading from Sol 7 to Sol 8.
    Once you have successfully downloaded, burned and tested your CD's then you can use them to Upgrade your system. You do not need to download or burn the Installation CD. You only need CD 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. You should probably test these CD's with an Initial Install on a system you don't care about.
    Once the CD's have been tested then you can use them to Upgrade. You should see the option of Initial Install or Upgrade after you have answered all the sysid questions. Please note that you should not even think about an Upgrade unless you have done a level 0 ufsdump of your entire boot disk to a local tape drive. You may need it in case you have to resize your partitions if Solaris 8 doesn't fit into your existing filesystems.

  • Upgrade from Solaris 10 06/06 to Solaris 10 11/06

    Hi,
    I need to upgrade from Solaris 10 06/06 to Solaris 10 11/06
    What's the best way of doing this? I looked up Live Upgrade and regular update.
    It seems like an upgrade is exactly the same as a fresh install. Use a DVD and boot from it.
    For the Live Upgrade I can upgrade while system is in production.
    Shouldn't this type of upgrade (same main release, just updated) be easy, like updating packages or patching the system?
    Any comments, maybe I missed something major like upgrading by just adding a few simple packages and rebooting.

    When I try an upgrade, I never get prompted to
    upgrade.
    I get all the way to the point where it asks which
    disk to install to.There are various things that can disable the upgrade option, but the installer is very opaque about what it's doing.
    The most common thing is if /etc/vfstab can't be easily parsed to find all the OS filesystems. If there's any strange mounts that aren't OS related, you might want to remove them from /etc/vfstab and just make sure that you preserve the location that the data resides.
    You need to have one and only one partition visible on your disks with tag 'root'. I think that confuses the upgrade if there's more than one.
    Is the upgrade option after this? From the manuals I
    got that all info such as hostname, ip and everything
    else should be recognized from previous installs.
    But it asks me to input all of these.It's after the host identification section, but at the beginning of the Solaris installation section.
    So if it's asking for cluster level or which disks, it's past the point.

  • Solaris 10 6/06 Next Monday, with ZFS included.Upgrade from 1/06 available?

    Hi all
    I have read next monday solaris 10 6/06 will be launched worldwide, including new and waited zfs v. 1.0.
    I have been using my solaris 10_x86 1/06 for some time ago... and I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my system (not re-installing it from zero) or even, install ZFS as install-alone packages??
    Someone knows if it will be possible?

    The Solaris install program have an upgrade option, which you can use to upgrade from 1/06 to 6/06...
    7/M.

  • Upgrading from Solaris 10 s10_72 (beta) so patches work

    Hi,
    What is the recommended way to go from
    Solaris 10 s10_72 X86 (beta) to a release that I can actually patch?
    Thanks!

    So I took the upgrade option from the 6/05 release I downloaded today from the Express program.
    Now:
    god@irt-v20z-01:autopatch 4:35pm 56 # cat /etc/release
    Solaris 11 nv_15 X86
    Copyright 2005 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
    Use is subject to license terms.
    Assembled 17 May 2005
    Can I assume pca does not identify any patches for Solaris 11.
    Am I now on a patchable a supportable platform?
    (Previous threads had said there was no upgrading from Beta - but I appear to have done it with 6/05)
    Thanks!

  • Console Upgrade Pre-requisites : Upgrading From SP1 to R2

    So the upgrade from Service Manager 2012 SP1 to Service Manager 2012 R2 requires that a minimum of CU2 be applied.  I'm trying to find some info to indicate if that per-requisite is also required for the upgrade of the consoles.  Anyone?

    there shouldn't be any special requirements for the console, since the console has no cached data.
    I would, however, recommend removing the console and installing the new version, if you have that option, incase the upgrade fails to remove unused DLLs.

  • Upgrade from Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 to Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi, I was trying to setup a new DC for our company, originally it's DC is Windows Server 2003 SP2, we decided not tomigrate it and instead build a new one from scratch which is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. I was able to set it up, perform windows updates,
    added roles, perform Domains and Trusts, etc
    When suddenly our global standards shifted to Windows Server 2012 R2, so instead of creating another server from scratch, this is the time to upgrade from 2k8 to 2K12 R2, besides the MAPtool which I've downloaded to check for prerequisites, etc, are there
    other things I need to be aware of? backups? etc.
    Regards,
    Jeff

  • Cannot upgrade from 9i databases to 10.2.0.3 on Solaris

    You cannot upgrade from Oracle 9.2 database to 10.2.0.3 on Solaris. You can upgrade to 10.2.0.2, then to 10.2.0.3 There is a serious problem though doing a direct upgrade, the database will not function. You get
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UPGRADE_SYSTEM_TYPES_FROM_920", line 1
    Has anyone got around this problem yet? Metalink is trying to fix the problem, but hasn't had any luck yet. Tired of having two different 10G directories on servers when migrating databases. Also was horrible during the first upgrade to discover the problem. It has been tested and is a known problem with the Oracle 10.2.0.3 patch (along with 2 other bad issues on 10.2.0.3 patch).

    I have had no issues going from 9.2.0.7 to 10.2.0.3 three weeks ago in our staging environment, since then I have not seen any problem.
    Installed 10.2.0.1 base applied 10.2.0.3 pactchset to the same oracle home.
    The catupgrd.sql script upgraded the following components in my database.
    Oracle Database 10.2 Upgrade Status Utility 05-23-2007 01:43:07
    Component Status Version HH:MM:SS
    Oracle Database Server VALID 10.2.0.3.0 00:24:36
    JServer JAVA Virtual Machine VALID 10.2.0.3.0 00:10:50
    Oracle XDK VALID 10.2.0.3.0 00:03:19
    Oracle Database Java Packages VALID 10.2.0.3.0 00:00:40
    Oracle XML Database VALID 10.2.0.3.0 00:03:06
    Oracle Workspace Manager VALID 10.2.0.1.0 00:01:24
    Total Upgrade Time: 00:46:32
    And since than we haven't seen any issues with our staging databases.
    Thanks,
