IDT Audio Nuances

Hi,
I'm currently using a HP Spectre XT 2001tu. Everything was working fine until I had to reinstall the Windows 7 OS due to memory dump issues. And I deleted the recovery partition because of my sheer ignorance. After the installation, everything is working fine, except for the audio.
I have downloaded the latest drivers available for my ultrabook, but the audio drivers just won't get the sound on.
Here's what all I have done -- I restarted my laptop after every step:
1) Roll back BIOS to default, but nothing happened. Then I updated to the latest BIOS, nothing happened.
2) Reinstalled the IDT drivers over 20 times, nothing happened. Downloaded Win7 and Win8 drivers just to be sure. But none of the drivers are working. Yes, I searched for my laptop specefic drivers on the HP database.
3) Went to device manager. There's a yellow notification besides the "High Definition Audio Device". Uninstalled the driver and scanned for hardware changes. Windows began installing its own drivers, but Windows couldn't complete the installation
4) Opened the sound controller from the device manager, it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
5) Used HP Support Assistant to search for driver updates. It updated my system, but audio still not working.
5) Reinstalled Windows 7 from a different disk. Everything except for Audio worked.
6) I constantly receive "No audio device is installed" on my taskbar, and there aren't any hidden playback or recording devices. Window troubleshooter couldn't solve the problem either.
-----> Then I found a WIERD THING.
I went intomy laptop specefic drivers which I downloaded from the HP servers.
Their supported devices are:
FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76E5
FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76E0
Then I went to my device manager, and opened my audio device hardware ID
. It was as follows:
FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2806&SUBSYS_80860101
The drivers that HP is providing for Spectre XT are not supported by Spectre XT.
I'd like to know what's going on?

Hi Piyush90,
Uninstall the package that contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in your HP ENVY Spectre XT Ultrabook 13-2001tu. Install it from the site you gave me the link to.
Thanks

  • Do I have to use IDT audio? I want to use Nvidia audio. No more IDT!

    Pavilion DV7 3300, Windows 7 64-bit
I do not want to use IDT Audio anymore, I downloaded the new Nvidia driver and it comes with HD Audio. Can I disable or uninstall IDT and use Nvidia audio? If not, what about Realtek Audio over IDT?!!! Thanks in advance!

It isn't a matter of simply choosing which software/driver you want to use.The hardware in a machine determines what driver will work. For instance, to use a Realtek driver you must have a Realtek audio chip on your machine's motherboard.

  • Beats/IDT Audio not working on Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7

A few months ago my speakers would stop responding midway through audion or video. I assumed a restart was in order and did just that. Problem solved, many times over. Tonight, however, my audio would not work upon restart plus iTunes wouldn't open claiming an issue with my computer's sound properties. I uninstalled/reinstalled IDT audio, tried updating the drivers, updated just about everything else on my computer yet still no sound. My computer relates to me that everything is okay and in perfect working order while the diagnostics state that my sound is not working.
Headphones also don't work. Any thoughts?

  • No sound, probably due to IDT Audio Codec

There i s no sound at my laptop. The loudspeakers are on, Windows says they are working fine. All the volumes are high, sound is not muted etc. But I have no sound anywhere. I uninstalled the drivers on IDT Audio Codec, reset the values in my bios to their original ones (if they even weren't to start with). I have been running the audioplayback diagnosis from windows. Moved back to old version of my registry but nothing seems to work.
I went through this forum and did what some of the people adviced but still it is not functioning. Although windows says that IDT Audio Codec is working fine, I get an errormessage Not able to play test tone (or that is the translation from Dutch). Also Windows Media player doesn't work and lands me on the page with error C00D11B1. Also playing a DVD doesn't work. And when trying to update the IDT Audio Codec driver, it says it is up-to-date. Also put all the sound settings (like sound quality to standard settings).
I think that I removed the driver when cleaning up with CCleaner so that is probably the reason. Also after checking with this forum I launched two driverpackages SP59291 and SP6355 but unfortunately that they didn't work and they probably not the right version for my setup. Alhtough the letter of the two did bring back windows system signals during start-up etc.  The current version of the driver is 6.10.6329.0. I checked the HP-website to find the specific version for my laptop but couldn't find it, anyone any idea what I could do? Many thanks!

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - IDT audio not working?

    Hi there,
My audio doesn't seem to be working, though it does appear on my sounds menu. I've tried update drivers as well as roll back. It was working a few days ago until a driver update recently.

    @movait89,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

For a couple of years now, I have been trying to find a way to sucessfully update my IDT Audio Driver. Whenever the update finishes, I restart my computer and it seems that the driver and/or my hardware has been disconnected. The small speaker icon in the lower right hand corner has a red "x" and it acts as if there are no speakers. I have to complete the system restore and restore my computer to an earlier time (before the "configure IDT Audio" update. • Problem with the IDT audio driver.

    Hi
i got a problem with my audio driver yesterday. while watching a video the driver stopped working and it says that "no audio output installed". i tried reinstalling the idt software from hp website. but it is no help, in the middle of the installation process the computer is showing an error saying that the idt software is not compatible with the hardware detected.
I need my audio drivers as soon as possible as i have a presentation to do. Please help asap.!!

    Hi
First uninstall the software from program and features.
Or, you can uninstall IDT Audio Driver from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall a Program.
Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
When you find the program IDT Audio Driver, click it, and then do one of the following:
    Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall.
Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove IDT Audio Driver.
Please try to install this software and see if this fixes your issue. In case this does not work try performing system restore to the date where unit was working fine.

  • Audio Issues When IDT Audio is Installed. Alternative?

I have an HP Elitebook 8440w Mobile Workstation running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and I've been having issues with the sound. Since it came with the IDT Audio program installed to begin with and is the program for the audio drivers, I never realized that it was (seemingly) causing the problem. I'm still not completely sure that that program is the real problem.
I went for a long time without speakers because that was the only problem I was having with the laptop and I couldn't go without the computer for the week it would have required to get it worked on through the IT department of my university. Finally, since it's summer and I have finished my degree, I took it in to see if they could figure out what was wrong. I had done everything I could think of, reinstalling drivers, etc. Nothing helped.
They didn't figure anything out at all. Instead they told me my Operating System was corrupted or some such BS and reinstalled Windows 7 Professional without even telling me first. This wiped all of my programs and caused several new problems. On top of this, they didn't reinstall any of the standard HP programs, diagnostic or otherwise. It's a really good thing I am not a complete computer novice or I would have been so lost. I have now spent several hours correcting my lack of software and am almost back to where I started.
This reinstallation of programs is what caused me to realize that it was this program causing the issues, or at least causing them to show up. I uninstalled it and now I can't use headphones, but at least the speakers are working. When the program was installed, it showed that the headphone jack was in use even when it wasn't, so I suspect that the real problem is that a switch in the port is messed up. However, I can't get it fixed anytime soon and I definitely won't be taking it back to the IT department. Some other idiot might also throw (my newly reinstalled) baby out with the bathwater.
Anyways, I was hoping someone might be able to recommend a different program/audio driver that I can manually switch from speakers to headphones with. Also, if you have any more insight into this problem, I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

  • IDT Audio ((((Missing Enhancements Tab )))) in Windows Sound Speaker Properties

    I have owned a HP Pavilion G4 2129TX  core i7 3632QM windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
last week, my computer crashed in a big way so I reinstalled Windows 7. I figured out all of my drivers and my Sound Works fine. The only problem is that I no longer have access to the   Enhancements Tab in my Windows Sound...
now my speaker seems too low in terms of sound not like as before.. my IDT driver is already updated but nothing changes. ..Any help to get it back would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Whether you have an enhancement tab in the Sound properties window depends on the particular audio driver loaded - some give this option and some don't.
    Try the following.
First of all, uninstall your current IDT driver from its entry in Programs and Features and when done, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, download and install the version on the following link.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55501-56000/sp55977.exe
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook again before checking if the enhancements tab is now available.
