IDVD '08 cannot video format taken from Sony Camcorder

Hi All,
Pardon me if this question has been posted previously as I'm newbie to the Mac world.
I have tried to use videoes taken from my sony camcorder (mpeg format) on iDVD. But iDVD prompted the message the video is an unsupported file type which was not a problem with toast. The Quicktime player also prompted the video is not a movie file.
I've never encountered this in other OS. Any inputs is very much appreciated.
Thang

But iDVD prompted the message the video is an unsupported file type which was not a problem with toast.
Toast is an entirely different application.
iDVD doesn't accept mpeg content. The new iMovie '08 might.

is it possible to transfer videos or movies from sony laptop to  iphone 5s

Import them into an iTunes library, converting them to MPEG-4 if needed, and then sync the iPhone with that library.

  • How do you download video from sony camcorder to imovie

how do you download video from sony camcorder to imovie.

First open up Imovie. Then plug the camcorder into the USB port. The computer will search for the camera. It will give a snapshot of what is on there. You can just click on CHECK ALL. It will begin to import. It will also tell you how long it will take. Once it is imported, click DONE. THEN, this is important, drag the snapshots into IMovie on the top to create a new project. You can also click on New Project and name it. When all the pics are in the movie, it will be saved. You can then edit it any way you want. I've done this many times on a Mac. My problem is the internal memory. I have to find out how to get the internal memory videos into my computer. Am currently researching it. BTW, importing from the memory stick is what I did above. Hope this helps.

Ten days and still no reply. Thanks, Apple. It's companies like you and EA that make me think you guys are only in it for the money. I payed $2.99 for this dn app and no refund. But it doesn't matter anymore because I jailbroke my iPod and got the app back. Looks like you lost a customer.

Trying to import mini dv clip from Sony camcorder (which I could do on my v.old copy of Premiere Elements - lost somewhere in the loft!) just discovered that this is no longer supported on v.13!!!  Trying to find a work-around but the one explained isn't clear - please could you email an 'idiots guide' step-by-step how to import DV into v.13

  • Syncing/Video Format issue from iTunes to iPod touch

I recently upgraded to a 4th gen touch from 4th gen iPod. All my previous videos were able to be synced properly. Ones I just purchased from iTunes store, however, I cannot load onto my iPod touch. I'm not able to sync it nor drag it into my device to upload.
This is the message I receive when syncing: +"Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including "xxxxxx" were not copied to the iPod "xx" because they cannot be played on this iPod."+ When I clicked further the message reads +"...the video format is not supported by this iPod."+
All of these are regular ole TV shows in MPEG-4 format. Yes, I can watch them on my computer. Yes, my software is up to date. Yes, I have iTunes 10 (and reinstalled it). Yes, my properties are to automatically sync my TV shows (which is why I'm constantly getting above error message). Yes, I restarted and reformatted my iPod touch.

Have you tried using the Create iPod and iPhone Version in the Advanced tab of iTunes? That opion is made to convert most formates to the iPod and iPhone compatible formats.

  • Importing video from Sony Camcorder DCR-SR87 to IMovie

I have a sony camcorder DCR-SR87 and a MacBook running the latest operating system and and IMovie 11.   According to the Apple techincal people the new operating system will not read the format from my camcorder so I can't import my video.  Has anyone found a work around for this problem?

I am not sure why this camera will not work. If Apple Support is telling you that they can't make it work, then I'll take your word for it.
There is still a way that might work for you.
First, get MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5. This is a free App for your Mac.
Drag one of the MPEG2 files from the camera (thorugh the Finder) into MPEG Streamclip.
Try FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the codec.
You can import the Apple Intermediate Codec MOV files into iMovie using FILE/IMPORT/MOVIE.
If this works, there is a way do to app your clips in batch.
MPEG Streamclip may tell you that you need to purchase the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component. This component is from Apple and costs $20 to download. Follow the instructions on the MPEG Streamclip website for how to install this component. Apple will tell you that you do not need this component for Lion, but MPEG Streamclip may still need it.
Then try to do the conversion again.
Let me know if any of this is not clear.

  • HT201302 how do I get video I have taken from a camcorder and edited in my PC to upload to my ipad?

I need to get music videos I have made from my pc to my ipad.  any suggestions?

Import them into iTunes, and sync them through there.
Yoiu may need to convert them to a playable format for the iPad. If its a video format itunes support, you ncan make playable versions for iPad from within iPad.
Alternatively if you find a Video App such as Moli Player you can import them into the App through iTunes File sharing as well without having to change their format. Moli player is capable of playing many types of videos and audio formats.

  • Unsupported video format importing from android to aperture 3.5.1

I have several Unsupported videos after importing from my android phone (Galaxy S4) to Aperture 3.5.1. It's not a codec issue (I don't think) because I also imported from my partner's android (same kind of phone).  Plus, when I right click and tell it to play the video in QuickTime, that works.  Please help!  I'd like to delete the vids off of my SD card but don't want to do so until these show up as supported with a thumbnail.  Thanks for you help.
Have repaired and rebuilt the database - this is a brand new Aperture library.

First open the library you want to import in Aperture 3.5.1.
Launch Aperture while holding down the alt/options key to open the library chooser panel.
Select the old library. Aperture will now upgrade the library.
After that, you should be able to merge this library into your current library.
I recommend to back up both libraries in question before doing this,  just in case.

  • Importing Video from Sony Camcorder

Everything ist plugged on, the camera runs in the playermodus but the PB isnt able to detect it.
    my questions are:
1- is the camera supposed to mount as a extra volume on the desktop (it does not)
2- do i need a special recording program (witch one?)
3- does it only work with IMovie HD ( I have'nt)
4- are there different types of this cables? ( I am not quite sure if it fits well, it fits so loose)

If you are using a Sony MPEG-2/AC3 camcorder, then make sure QT v7.6.3 is installed in your "Applications/Utilities" folder. If it isn't, then install it from your Snow Leopard installation "Extras" installer package and then re-install your QT MPEG-2 Playback Component as per the MPEG Streamclip installation/Snow Leopard instructions.

  • Problem with image capture via firewire from sony camcorder TRV20E

I'm new to premiere pro. Have checked compat. of camcorder with PProCS3 and am told by Adobe technical team it is ok. So what am I not doing? I've followed the on-line help but still no video. It must be in the settings PLEASE can someone offer me some pointers. I've gone back to the Preferences - Device Control - options and having not found the model of the camcorder I've put the settings back to the default - but that made no difference.
I'm working on a Mac and have even tried opening the camcorder in i-movie but it doesn't pick up the connection from the camcorder. Is this an oh so simple thing I'm missing? I'm really stuck and would really appreciate some feedback. Thank you

    Susan,
Several folk have had issues with Capture from a myriad number of cameras. As Matthew noted, his Capture worked with a certain sequence. Others have noted different sequences, that worked for them.
    Sequences to try:
1.) Plug in camera (iLink) and turn it on. Start PP and then Capture
2.) Plug in camera, but do NOT turn it on. Start PP, then Capture, then turn camera on
3.) Start PP, plug in camera, turn it on, then start Capture
4.) Start PP, plug in camera, but do NOT turn it on. Start Capture, then turn on camera
It would be great if all cameras worked exactly the same way, but it seems that they do not.
One note: if your iLink cable is a powered cable make sure that the camera is turned off, BEFORE you plug in the cable. With a powered cable, I make sure that the device is both off and its power cord is not attached. Too many fried IEEE-1394 sockets can result from having the computer on and the device on. Do not make this mistake. This is for the powered IEEE-1394 cables - the ones with the "U" shaped, large plugs. Please read this paragraph again, if you have a powered cable, or read the specs to see if you do. Most camera IEEE-1394 connections are not powered, but make sure first!
I'd even suggest that you do a search of the Premiere forums, not just CS3, and plug in "Firewire," "iLink," "cable" and read.
As for sequences that worked with certain camera models, Jim Simon posted several articles on his findings. I think that Steven Gotz did, as well.

  • Xfer from Sony Camcorder to Mcbook Pro but not my Imac  ???

Yes. I just took my Sony Camcorder to the APple store with my firewire cable and my MacBook pro running Tiger. (as does my Imac). So the xfer worked fine at the Apple store, but when I get home and hook the camcorder up to my Imac and do everything the same, I get an "Unable to intialize HDV deck" message. Played with cable, rebooted everything several times. but my FC Express in my Imac will not see the camcorder. Any thoughts on what else to try?

Please give your full system specifications, what computer, what drives, what camera or deck, how everything's connected, what settings are on the media, what settings you're using in Final Cut, and finally what version of the software, of the OS, and of QuickTime you are using.
