IDVD '08 Menu Music

I would like to limit the music played in the menu's to maybe 30-45 seconds. Is there a way to do this in iDVD? Or do I need to edit the audio as needed then select the edited audio for the menu?
I am trying to cut down on the time it takes to render. Even the menus take a while. I don't ever plan on watching my menu for 4:43
Can anyone help?
Thanx,
Mike Dunn

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. In the menu's Info pane (click on the menu and type Command+i) there's a slider bar that lets you set the loop time of the audio track you've selected to play in that menu *** seen here:

    I would use Quicktime Pro.

  • Why can't I open items in iDVD sub menu & Open Existing project lists?

Recently I installed *Jam Pack-Music of the World*. Since then, my iMac experienced one Kernal Panic while I was using iMovie. Later I tried to burn the movie I had been working on, iDVD got stuck at audio encoding and then quit unexpectedly a while later. When I tried to +'Open Existing project'+ in iDVD, I noticed the list of files in the *Movie folder* of the iDVD dialogue window are shaded grey and could not be opened. (They could however be opened from the *Documents foder* where they are shown as .dvdproject files.) Additionally it became clear that about 40-50 GB of storage space on the hard drive had been lost. I have also noticed that the items listed in the *iDVD sub menu* (tool bar) are also grey and cannot be opened - although if I first open a project from the documents folder these items then show black and can be opened. I've had my iMac for 18 months and had no real problems till now. I'm new to computing and at a loss as to what's happened and how to rectify it.

I don't purport to be an expert, but since you have not gotten a response as yet, I'll give you my comment.
If you got a Kernal Panic, your computer is in need of some maintenance. The following recipe is from one of the gurus on the iMovie formum in a different context. " Restart from your install disk (by holding down the C key as you restart), and go to Disk Utility, then repair the hard disk. Restart as normal and then repair permissions from the same utility."
Make sure that you have enough free space on your hard drive for these programs to work -- at least 15GB and better 25GB.
You could also try uninstalling Jam Pack-Music of the World, and see if that clears up the problem.
    Good luck.

  • IDVD burns wrong music but iDVD preview plays correct music

I'm creating my second DVD-based slide show by exporting the slide show from iPhoto to iDVD. (Am using iDVD version 5.0.1.)
When I preview in iDVD the correct music from my iTunes plays. After I use iDVD to burn a DVD image and then try to test that via the DVDPlayer, the music from my first iDVD-created slide show plays instead. (I've also burned an image to DVD and played on a hardware DVD player with same problem resulting.)
Of course I have no idea how iDVD is getting so confused on this matter.
Is this a known bug? Does anybody know what is happening here?

For what it is worth, I am having a similar problem and have spent coutless hours to resolve. No Solution Yet. When formaing a Playlist from iTunes everything plays as it should. When the playlist is selected for a iPhoto slideshow, music plays as it should.
When exporting or going to iDVD as a slideshow, Theme music can be selected and it plays correctly. Audio is selected in the custom slide window for the playlist. The goal is to have music play during an entire iDVD slide show. I have never been able to have more that the first iTune on the playlist play music. I have contacted Apple many times on this issue and no one can solve it. Looping makes no difference, re-installing all of the iLite software does not help, nor anything else. I even installed Roxio to see if exporting iPhoto with a playlist would make it ok and it does not. Roxio is removed.
The only way I know, so far, to make this all work is to select a iTune that will last through the entire iDVD. I believe that there is a serious bug here as no one at Apple has a answer either (after numerous calls) so the problem is still there.
Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

  • Not looping menu music

Is there a way to set the menu music to only play once, and not loop?

Let me know if any of these are helpful.

Can't. This is done for the individual movie, not by iTunes.
    Some have it, most don't.

  • IDVD menu music

    Hello
Hope you can help me out here
After having set up my menus, the theme music was replaced by the audio track from one of the movies I have on the DVD. Doesn't work well with the particular movie it picked, though.
How can I choose which specific movie, I want to use the audio from?
And how do I go back to using the theme music again?
    Mads

    Hej Mads!
In iMovie 6 you highlight the clip, go the Advanced menu, and click on extract audio. This turns down the volume on that clip to zero and at the same time copies the audio to another audio track, where it can be edited or copies just like a video clip.
In iMovie 9 (which I refuse to use!) you, err, go to the Help menu and ask!

  • How to add music to idvd opening menu?  How To's don't work

how to add music to opening theme of idvd slide show.  How To's haven't worked???

    Hi
In what format was the Audio You used ?
    I only use
    • .aiff 48kHz 16-bit (as from miniDV tape Camera - or -
    • .aiff 44.1kHz from Audio-CD (as You play on the Stereo)
I never use (directly without converting to .aiff)
    • .mp3
    • .wma
    • - from iTunes
all of them I convert to .aiff 48kHz or 44.1kHz
then iDVD (and iMovie and FinalCut Express AND Pro) takes them without any problems

  • IDVD 6 Menu Audio Question

I've created 3, full-length iMovie movies. For each one, I've exported it to iDVD 6 and selected one of the canned themes. For that theme, I am able to drag and drop my own pictures for the main menu page, and for each scene selection page.
The problem is when it comes to audio. I've decided to use the audio from another theme, with the theme I've chosen (which has no audio by default). I can drag and drop that audio file to the main menu window and it works fine. The problem is typically somewhere on the sub-menus (scene selection menus). For each of my 3 movies, the audio file has created problem on either the 1st, 4th or 8th sub-menu.
When I drag and drop the file, the spinning ball spins for about 30 seconds, then the audio plays, but it sounds like in slow motion. I've "undone" and re-drag and dropped several times. Still does the same thing. I've even completed the dvd and burned it and when played on my home theater, the music for just that submenu is in slow motion.
Any solutions? I've tried changing the music from m4a to mp3, that doesn't solve the problem either.
    thx

    John,
    1) i like the separate file idea. I'll try that tonight, creating separate copies for each submenu. I'll post my results after giving that a shot.
    2) You lost me with your last paragraph. Is there a limit an the amount of audio allowed on submenus? I don't think this is the problem, because the glitch happens anywhere from the 2nd submenu to the 8th (depending on the movie I'm creating). Also, regarding your editing comment, you lost me.
The audio file I'm using is from another theme. I've done nothing to it at all (no editing). I just drag and drop the file from it's original theme to my submenu. I did burn it and re-encode it as a .mp3, but that has the same problem.
I'll post my results w/ your first recommendation later.
    thx
    Robert

  • IDVD, dvd menu themes

Hi, does anyone know if the iDVD menu themes can be use for commercial purposes?

The ELA used to be more specific about iDVD themes; now it seems to concentrate on the music.

  • Running iDVD without menu

I would like to create an iDVD using 7 short iMovie projects.  I don't want the DVD to return to the menu between movies.  I would like it to go automatically from one iMovie project to the next.
When I added the movie projects to a new iDVd project, they were separate parts of the Menu and the DVD stopped and waited for me to select the next movie.
Can I make it run through all the movies without anyone operating it?
I want to play it continuously during a reception.
I understand that the completed iDVD can be made to loop.
Can I ellminate the need to return to the menu?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mary Lou

Create a slideshow in iDVD with the "+" button and add the 7 movies to it.
Click on the slideshow button in the menu and use the Advanced ➙ Loop Slideshow menu option to cause that slideshow to loop.
In the slideshow window select any Slide Duration except manual.  Do not assign any transitions. Do not add music to the slideshow.
If you want the movies to begin playing immediately when the DVD is inserted into the DVD player go to the Map mode and drag the slideshow into the Autoplay bin at the left:

  • Car Menu Music Player - ID3 Tags

    Hello,
I am using the car menu v2.6 on my E51. I am wondering which ID3-Tag version is supported. Does anybody know that?
What about v2.8 beta, which versions are supported here?
    Thanks,
    Jones

Hi Diavonex. Yes I was aware of this option.
Subsequently I have done a litle research and downloaded a music app called "Track 8" which has a much clearer interface (larger type) and the abillity to change the background colour to dark or light.
This is much more readable in the car in bright light, and much better at night too.
You can also turn off auto-lock within the application, which is great, as it doesn't affect other apps.
Although this app is really only an interface sitting on top of the music app, it offers a much better experience
in my opinion that the stock player which seems to have devolved rather than evolved.

  • IDVD 6: Menu buttons don't show up from iDVD 5 project

I have an iDVD 5 project that I opened in iDVD 6. It consists of 3 slideshows. (There was an issue with it not seeing the iPhoto 6 photos, but that's another issue I posted in the iPhoto forum.)
The buttons that show the slideshows do not show up in iDVD 6. But if I go to map view, the slideshows show up and I can go into them and see all the slides are there and I can preview them. (Well, when it doesn't crash.)
I tried creating new menus but those don't show up either (although, oddly enough, at one point I added a new menu and the title of one of the slideshows showed up!). This project had the Travel theme in iDVD 5.
So in summary: the menu buttons to start the slideshows don't show up when I open the project in iDVD 6. They also don't show up in the title (main) menu when I preview it in iDVD 6. I haven't yet tried actually burning a DVD.
    Any suggestions?

The -34506 error. Welcome to a world of frustration and wasted evenings. There are plenty of threads here with suggestions on 'rules' for setting up your slideshows in iMovie, clearing caches, creating new users etc. These have fixed this particular error for some people.
    Good luck!

  • IDVD 6:  Menu Buttons Highlight Incorrectly

I've been trying to take two podcasts and burn them to a DVD.  Initially I tried starting directly with iDVD 6, but it wouldn't encode the second podcast.  I then started with iMovie to encode the clips before I added them to iDVD.  The podcasts are widescreen, so I selected a theme that would also be widescreen.
For the first DVD I burned, my widescreen portable DVD player interpreted the main menu as 4:3, cutting off some of the text of the menu options.  I tried playing the DVD on a computer (not sure if it was in Windows or on the Mac), and although the menus were displayed as 16:9, the highlighting of the buttons is way off the actual buttons.  Another computer's DVD player application highlighted the buttons correctly.
After reading some of the tips involving myDVDEdit, I copied the burned image files to a folder, changed the files to read and write, and changed the settings on the menus to the most flexible 16:9 option (auto Pan & Scan and Letterbox).  When I burned a DVD with these changes, the widescreen portable DVD player would display the DVD with black bars all around (but without cutting anything off).  On a computer, the button highlighting still does not match the actual location of the buttons.
Are there any other settings that I can adjust to (1) fill the entire screen on my portable DVD player and (2) align the button highlighting to the actual buttons?  Thanks in advance.

  • Make iDVD Selection Menu into Main Menu

Please excuse me if this is a simple-minded question, but I have not found a solution yet.
I have a .mov file that I want to burn to DVD. It has 4 chapters - okay, okay, so they're cartoons; who doesn't want some favorite cartoons around? Anyway, the start of each cartoon in the .mov file is marked with a Chapter Marker (created via FCE.) When the .mov file is imported into iDVD 5.0.1, iDVD IMMEDIATELY creates a Main Menu page containing "Play / Submenu" and the Submenu screen containing the 4 cartoons. (And yes, they're Roadrunner vs. Wile E. Coyote, so there!)
What I want to do is ELIMINATE the current "Main" Menu page, and instead have the "Submenu" containing the links to the 4 cartoons BE the actual "Main Menu." Thus when the DVD is inserted into a player, the "Main Menu" shows the names of the 4 cartoons.
In the "structure" representation, I have tried dragging the Submenu icon over the Main menu icon; deleting the "Main Menu" icon"; dragging the first cartoon icon over the Main Menu. Nothing works.
I also have iDVD 7.0.4 on the MacMini, if there is a solution there. Any suggestions?

A million thanks for your solution.
And for others who have lots of VHS tapes that are slowly turning into Packing Material, here is a strategy:
Easy-VHS-To-DVD -> Basic Toast (included with EV2D) -> Disc Image -> MPEGStreamclip(Open_DVD:TSVideo) -> Quicktime file (will avoid rendering in FCE) -> iMovie or FCE -> iDVD.
I know, I know, it sounds like a LOT of work, but it is actually extremely easy. The slowest part is the EV2D capture (which is done in real time.) Everything else consists of: 1.Select parameters. 2.Go do something else for 20-30-40 minutes. You will end up with a (semi-permanent) DVD of a VHS that is decomposing day-by-day.
And as noted above: Please do not break copyright by making copies of VHS tapes that you do not own. But if you BOUGHT 'Em, you OWN 'Em.
