IDVD '08 - Modifying Revolution Theme Chapters Background

Hello everyone!
I am authoring a DVD using iDVD '08 (7.1.2) and I've decided to use the Revolution theme.
I modified the menu and fonts for both the Main and Chapter screens. However in Chapters screens, the "scrolling text" that is running in the background says "REVOLUTION CHAPTERS" and I can't find a place to edit this text, as I could do on the main screen.
Does anyone know if and how this can this text can be changed? If so, please let me know how. I'd be so grateful.
Thanks a ton!
- Austin

In the Chapter menu the title usually is Chapters 1-6 (if you have 6 or more chapters)
Click on the title and change to whatever you want to rolling text to be. You may have to click on the rolling text to get it to change right away.
Happy Holidays

  • Revolution Theme Background Shadows or Image Mask

    Hello Again.
Despites wise advise of ¨just call me dude¨I obtain what I need, He oppens a new interrogative.
How to modify background´s image mask. It drops some kind of shadow at the upper right side of the image and become´s dark in that place.
That is great, but I am tryiong to find how to eliminate it or make it less dark.
I know this is a hard question, but I´ll give a chance to destiny to point me in the right path.
I checked the adress http://digitalproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=67633 and opened the file ThemeDescription7.plist and search into it with plistedit pro, but I have no idea where to find a clue on that, as I am not a English reader, I have no idea about the name of that effect who affects the image I drag into the sceene and to the background. I looked for shadow, but no changes, blur, but no blur at all.
    Thank´s for your help

    Hello, Arturoherva,
I followed what you are asking. I downloaded Plistedit pro, and found the steps to modify the Reflections blurring in iDVD 6 themes. The same process does not work for iDVD 7 (08), because the Revolution theme is not organized in the source file in the same way. I could not locate a similar folder with the Resource option.
I think this may be able to be done, but not with the same steps as given in the example on the link you provided.
There probably is a command to lighten the background of the Revolution theme, but the steps listed for PlistEdit are for themes prior to iDVD 8.
Maybe you should contact PlistEdit and get instructions for use with iDVD 7(08), and post them back here

  • How to burn movie in idvd without themes, chapters, etc.....

I just want to burn some video I edited in imovie in idvd without the themes, chapters and all. How do I do this? I tried going to file>'onestep dvd from movie' and when trying to import received a message that said 'unsupported movie type - make sure your movie is in a format supported by idvd'. ????????Help.

How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    3. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    4. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:

  • Idvd '08 revolution theme scrub bar

The revolution theme in idvd '08 has a scrub bar at the bottom of the image frame, with a check box at each end.
I cannot quite figure out what the check box does, and what the hatched area that appears in the scrub bar does/
Anyone have a clue on this?
    Thanks.

The little check boxes at each end are for write in/out. With the boxes checked, when you enter the menu, it will have a cool "entrance" and "exit."

  • Removing black gradient background in new Revolution theme

I've got a project I'm working on where I want to have my own background image applied to the Revolution theme. However, the black gradient covers up most of my background image. How do I get rid of that? I've looked everywhere for that graphic or that code. Anyone?

I would like to remove the background too, since it creates a black haze over everything. I was able to brighten up the background a bit by dropping a white 853 x 480 .png file into the background. The rotating drop boxes show up better, but still not bright like the theme thumbnails.
The coal dust look seems to be a transparent screen in the foreground. Makes the whole effect morose.
Where you able to find a cure? Usually themes are very customizable. If you come up with a fix please let me know.

  • Question about iDVD Revolution theme

When I create a project using the Revolution iDVD theme, the first "page" contains the name of the movie, and a button to move to the second page.  On the second page is a button to play the movie and another button for scene selection.  All default stuff.  My question is, is there a way eliminate the first page, so that when the DVD starts playing, the buttons to play the movie and scene selection are available?
I'm trying to avoid having two screens with menu, and reduce it to only one screen, which is shown when you first play the DVD.
    -Thanks

Okay, I just figured it out -- When you start iDVD, and click the "Magic iDVD" button, do NOT drag a movie to where it says "Drag movies here".   Instead set the DVD title and click the "Create Project" button on the bottom right.
Now, assuming using the "Revolution" theme, drag a movie underneath the title, ensuring not to drag it to a drop sone.  You will then see a "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection" button created on the first page.  In fact, there is no second page at this point.

  • Revolution Theme Question

I've made an iMovie and made chapter markers in garage band. I then usually share it with iDVD. After choosing to share I edit the title on the MAIN (front page) of the Revolution theme. When I go to edit the text on the scene selection menu, I cannot figure out how. The text says, "Revolution Chapters". Is there a way to edit this? I'd like to personalize it.

I actually know exactly what you're talking about. For some reason, when iDVD creates the default chapter menu in the Revolution theme from Garage Band (I'm not sure if it does it from other importing procedures or not) it sets the text that spins around the drop zone as "Revolution Chapters," despite the menu text reading "Scenes 1-6" (default). The solution was surprisingly simple: under "Themes," select a different menu type (I used "Revolution Extras"). Then simply switch it back to "Revolution Chapters" and voila! The revolving text should now read the same as the menu text (as it should).

  • Modifying existing theme

Hi ! I use N79. I just want to modify the theme to add a wallpaper so that it sit nicely in the middle of the screen. Where can I find the existing themes ? Thanks

    Hi,
The location of your images directory depends on how you setup your APEX instance. Do you know which database version you're using? And whether you've configured your APEX instance to use the embedded gateway, which would be the default configuration on Oracle XE and 11g. Or did you setup APEX with mod_plsq or the APEX listener? Assuming you've installed XE, and you're using the embedded gateway, then your images are actually stored in the database (XML DB), and you would need to access your images folder via FTP or WebDAV. There are several blog posts out there that talk about how to connect to the images folder via FTP, here's one: http://www.apex-blog.com/oracle-apex/accessing-i-using-ftp-170.html If you're using any of the other configurations, your images directory would simply be a local folder on the machine running your web server.
As for creating a theme, there isn't really a "guide" out there that documents how to build a new theme. But the theme structure, templates, etc are documented in the APEX user guide. To start building a new theme, I would recommend starting out with an existing one that you like, ideally one that was recently modernized by us. I would recommend themes 21-23 as starting points. And then I would create a CSS file to overwrite some of the classes in the theme CSS file, rather than directly modifying the CSS file that ships with APEX. You should also use tools like Firebug, or the built-in developer functions in Chrome/Safari to try out different CSS settings. With our modernized themes you should be able to get most customizations done through CSS. So I would suggest staying away from actually altering the templates as much as possible, at least in the beginning.

  • IDVD 6, destroyed a theme

While messing around, I renamed /Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD 6/Reflection-Main.theme/Contents/Resources/ThemeDescription.plist to something else, made a copy, and tried to edit the copy using OmniOutliner. It didn't work out for me, so I deleted the copy, and renamed the original file back. It retains its original ownership, permissions, date and time stamp, but the "Reflection Main" theme is no longer available in iDVD 6. How can I "re-import" this particular theme or re-enable it for iDVD?

Thank you for the advice. It ultimately worked, but was not quite as easy as that. A previous MacBook, or one of the MacMini's I had purchased did come with an iLife '06 disc, but when I tried to re-install the application, all I got was the opportunity to install some Garageband sample tunes. So, I dragged iDVD to my TRASH (with my fingers crossed) and tried it again: same result, so I located the original Mac OS X Install discs (2 of them, in the package marked "Everything else") and selected the option to install the bundled software. I unchecked everything, then re-checked only iDVD, and it installed iDVD, along with Themes. (WHEW!) However, the Reflection/Black/Main theme was still missing, so this time, I dragged iDVD AND the folder /Library/Application Support/iDVD (where I knew the theme assets to be) into the trash and repeated the process. This time it worked. I got back my missing theme, and I'm all happy again! Thank you again for a push in the right direction!

How do I create Themes/Chapters in my video before burning to DVD so that Scenes can be selected using on screen icons when DVD is loaded to player?

"I don't know what you mean by this. There are no chapter markers in FCP." - you puzzle me by this! Yave You ever made some DVDees after editing in FCP 7? Every chapter in the timeline could be transfered to DVD Studio Pro, and then used in DVD navigation. This is very important feature, decause you don't have to lookfor some parts of your video while creating navigation! Less work - more joy! Another downscore of FCPX!

so i could delete what i didn't want, how do you re start them in background tasks?

First, I'd recommend you contact iAd support as they may be able to help resolve some of your issues.
Regarding Blueprints vs. custom, you could start with a Blueprint, fill in every part you care about, ensure there are no validation errors reported by iAd Producer (Inspector sidebar), File > Convert to Normal Project, then delete any unused pages and banners.
While I haven't used Workbench, in looking at the available ad types documented in the help (http://help.apple.com/iadworkbench/mac/2.0/#slvbb8575343), why not use the "Banner ad that plays a video with iTunes Store or App Store call to action" or "Banner ad that goes to iTunes Store or App Store product page"?

  • IDVD Revolution theme modifications

    Hi there!
I'm working with iDVD ver 7.0.3. and i'm using 7.0 theme "Revolution". I have changed it's background image to white, but there is still a mask or some kind of black and blur background shading, wich fades my white background image to very dark.
Can someone say, how i can get this "mask" disappear?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
As far as I can see, it is not possible to do as you wish. I have tried a few different samples, and it appears that this theme is designed to have the menu background fade to black around the edges, like the "vignette" effect.
    I hope this helps.
