Idvd '08 revolution theme scrub bar

The revolution theme in idvd '08 has a scrub bar at the bottom of the image frame, with a check box at each end.
I cannot quite figure out what the check box does, and what the hatched area that appears in the scrub bar does/
Anyone have a clue on this?
Thanks.

The little check boxes at each end are for write in/out. With the boxes checked, when you enter the menu, it will have a cool "entrance" and "exit."

  • IDVD '08 - Modifying Revolution Theme Chapters Background

    Hello everyone!
    I am authoring a DVD using iDVD '08 (7.1.2) and I've decided to use the Revolution theme.
    I modified the menu and fonts for both the Main and Chapter screens. However in Chapters screens, the "scrolling text" that is running in the background says "REVOLUTION CHAPTERS" and I can't find a place to edit this text, as I could do on the main screen.
    Does anyone know if and how this can this text can be changed? If so, please let me know how. I'd be so grateful.
    Thanks a ton!
    - Austin

    In the Chapter menu the title usually is Chapters 1-6 (if you have 6 or more chapters)
    Click on the title and change to whatever you want to rolling text to be. You may have to click on the rolling text to get it to change right away.
    Happy Holidays

  • Question about iDVD Revolution theme

    When I create a project using the Revolution iDVD theme, the first "page" contains the name of the movie, and a button to move to the second page.  On the second page is a button to play the movie and another button for scene selection.  All default stuff.  My question is, is there a way eliminate the first page, so that when the DVD starts playing, the buttons to play the movie and scene selection are available?
    I'm trying to avoid having two screens with menu, and reduce it to only one screen, which is shown when you first play the DVD.
    -Thanks

    Okay, I just figured it out -- When you start iDVD, and click the "Magic iDVD" button, do NOT drag a movie to where it says "Drag movies here".   Instead set the DVD title and click the "Create Project" button on the bottom right.
    Now, assuming using the "Revolution" theme, drag a movie underneath the title, ensuring not to drag it to a drop sone.  You will then see a "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection" button created on the first page.  In fact, there is no second page at this point.

  • Revolution Theme Background Shadows or Image Mask

    Hello Again.
    Despites wise advise of ¨just call me dude¨I obtain what I need, He oppens a new interrogative.
    How to modify background´s image mask. It drops some kind of shadow at the upper right side of the image and become´s dark in that place.
    That is great, but I am tryiong to find how to eliminate it or make it less dark.
    I know this is a hard question, but I´ll give a chance to destiny to point me in the right path.
    I checked the adress http://digitalproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=67633 and opened the file ThemeDescription7.plist and search into it with plistedit pro, but I have no idea where to find a clue on that, as I am not a English reader, I have no idea about the name of that effect who affects the image I drag into the sceene and to the background. I looked for shadow, but no changes, blur, but no blur at all.
    Thank´s for your help
    AH

    Hello, Arturoherva,
    I followed what you are asking. I downloaded Plistedit pro, and found the steps to modify the Reflections blurring in iDVD 6 themes. The same process does not work for iDVD 7 (08), because the Revolution theme is not organized in the source file in the same way. I could not locate a similar folder with the Resource option.
    I think this may be able to be done, but not with the same steps as given in the example on the link you provided.
    There probably is a command to lighten the background of the Revolution theme, but the steps listed for PlistEdit are for themes prior to iDVD 8.
    Maybe you should contact PlistEdit and get instructions for use with iDVD 7(08), and post them back here

  • Revolution Theme Question

    I've made an iMovie and made chapter markers in garage band. I then usually share it with iDVD. After choosing to share I edit the title on the MAIN (front page) of the Revolution theme. When I go to edit the text on the scene selection menu, I cannot figure out how. The text says, "Revolution Chapters". Is there a way to edit this? I'd like to personalize it.

    I actually know exactly what you're talking about. For some reason, when iDVD creates the default chapter menu in the Revolution theme from Garage Band (I'm not sure if it does it from other importing procedures or not) it sets the text that spins around the drop zone as "Revolution Chapters," despite the menu text reading "Scenes 1-6" (default). The solution was surprisingly simple: under "Themes," select a different menu type (I used "Revolution Extras"). Then simply switch it back to "Revolution Chapters" and voila! The revolving text should now read the same as the menu text (as it should).

  • Scrub bar for SWFs

    what i am looking for is an FLV player type component (doesn't have to be an actual component) that will play SWFs. i need it to have all the same functionality (play, pause, scrub bar, etc...) it seems crazy that there isn't one out there i have even looked in the Exchange area and only seem to find ones that control FLVs or MOVs, not SWFs.
    thanks

    The reason there probably isn't a component for swf's is that by their nature, swf's are self-controlled, intended to play in a certain manner with controls provided in them if/as needed to make things play properly.  This includes the provision of movieclips within swf's which can act as movies within movies within movies.... etc.  So to have a component to play swf's would require having some kind of standardized swf design to control, such as a strict animation (no buttons, no movieclips, just frame by frame animation).
    You shouldn't really have much trouble making a player yourself for whatever version of swf you are thinking fits the bill.  If you visit the AS3 forum today you'll find a discussion about scrubbing the timeline which should prove useful to your cause, and as far as play and pause buttons go... that's a simmple matter of implementing buttons that call on play() and stop() functions.

  • Scrub bar on A/V files?

    Is there an easy way to give A/V files (probably WMV and/or
    mp3) a scrub bar a la Quicktime-- without using Quicktime?
    Thanks!

    yeah dude. If you open the ZEN V series media explorer, there is an option to convert video for ZEN V Plus. After you use that to convert your .avi files you can add them to your player.
    .....PORN?ON THE GO!! (JUST KIDDDING)? or am I?no I seriously am kidding, that?would be?gross.

  • Scrub bar and its ability to pause

    I'm considering a purchase of Apple Quicktime Pro but I'd like to know if it can perform a specific function that I have in mind while it is embedded into a browser.
    You see, I work a for a research center that has an electron microscope. The EM lab creates these fascinating 3D movies of a 360 degree views of microscopic particles. The movies essentially rotate around a target and pictorialize the structure of the particles.
    The EM lab would like to take these movies, which are in AVI format, and post them online. However, they would like the user who (who is viewing the movie files from within a browser) to be able to scrub through it and pause, in order to view the particles at different angles.
    Essentially, my question is this. Can Quicktime allow a user to scrub through a video, let up on the scrub bar, and have it PAUSE instead of play at that point? This would, in essence, make the scrub bar less of a position to start playing a video file and more of an indication of a vantage point of that particle. Is this clear?
    Thanks,
    Paul
    IBM   Windows XP Pro

    The scrub will reflect whatever the state of playback is at the time. That is, if the movie isn't playing to begin with, the user can scrub to any point and the movie will not automatically start playing. If the movie is playing, then the movie will continue to play after the pointer is dragged to the new location.

  • Making movie project in iDVD without a theme - still having trouble. help!

    I am trying to make a movie in iDVD without a theme. I am following previous instructions but having a problem. I open up iDVD, create a new project. Pick a theme, then select the map view. When the screen opens I drag my movie into the first box which says "Drop content here to play....". I also loop the movie to play over. I am not able to move forward with burning a disc because there is a yellow triangle warning in the main theme box which says "menu contains no buttons". Nothing in HELP addresses this as far as I could find. Since I don't want to use menus and just want to burn my movie, how do I get around this problem. I finally decided to try and burn a disc anyway and iDVD quit during encoding process about half thru. Help....

    Thanks Geoff - Your suggestion seems to be what I am looking for. However, halfway thru encoding/burning iDVD app quits on me. I don't know why that is happening??????

  • Removing black gradient background in new Revolution theme

    I've got a project I'm working on where I want to have my own background image applied to the Revolution theme. However, the black gradient covers up most of my background image. How do I get rid of that? I've looked everywhere for that graphic or that code. Anyone?

    I would like to remove the background too, since it creates a black haze over everything. I was able to brighten up the background a bit by dropping a white 853 x 480 .png file into the background. The rotating drop boxes show up better, but still not bright like the theme thumbnails.
    The coal dust look seems to be a transparent screen in the foreground. Makes the whole effect morose.
    Where you able to find a cure? Usually themes are very customizable. If you come up with a fix please let me know.

  • Update idvd and no themes for 6 and 7 works...

    All the themes are in the library on the "themes" folder, all themes for 1 through 7 in separate folders iside themes, but idvd only shows themes of the 05... please help! I have no themes for 16:9 only 4:3
    I just bought an apple mini and update idvd to 7.1.2 on apple website.

    You'll have to resinstall iDVD. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iDVD" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
    Click to view full size
    Then install iDVD from the disk it came on originally, apply the needed updates and repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.

  • Can't locate audio file for iDVD 6 Travel Theme

    I have looked under Library/Application Support/iDVD/Installed Themes I find only folders for iDVD3, iDVD 4 and iDVD 5. No iDVD 6 there at all! I know I have iDVD 6 installed since I loaded iLife06 last week myself and can both see and hear the Travel Theme graphic and audio theme. Where can it be?
    Once I find it, how do I get it into iTunes?
    eMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Yes! Tonight is the first time I've opened iDVD and that theme started playing. What a marvellous theme it is; it inspires me, sort of sets the level for what I should be shooting for in my scores. I love this kind of music.
    And It Should Be Credited to the Appropriate Artist, Apple folks!
    There is no mention anywhere of who wrote it (or any of the other audio tracks on any of the sample Themes). The clip seems to be called TravelCards, on which a google search produced information on the composer Simon Fisher Turner (aka SFT), with a CD called Travelcard, but I'll be damned if I can find a downloadable clip to listen to! Some of his stuff is in iTunes, but not this album. From the sound of his other work, however, it could be him. It also bears a bit of resemblance to the work of another British artist, Karl Jenkins (the "Diamond Music" composer, also a founding member of Soft Machine, one of the seminal bands from the 70's).
    Whoever it is, I have listened to the sampled phrase over and over and over as it loops in my iDVD window beneath this one... and I haven't gotten tired of it yet! Please if anyone has any idea at all who wrote this, I'd love to know and hear more. Thanks!

  • Scrubbing bar that controls many timelines

    Hi all,
    Is it possible for a scrubbing bar on the main stage to control the time lines of many symbols?
    I'm using this code from Sarah Justine
    Create Click and Touch Draggable Scrubbers with Edge Animate CC | sarahjustine.com
    var symDur = sym.getSymbol("timelinePlay").getDuration(); // Get the timeline length of timelinePlay. We'll reference this later in the code.
    var mySymbol = sym.getSymbol("timelinePlayl"); // Get the symbol timelinePlay. We'll reference this later in the code.
    var scrubber = sym.$("scrubber"); // Touch this to scrub the timeline of timelinePlay
    var bar = sym.$("bar"); // Bar the scrubber follows
    sym.$("mobileHit").hide(); // Added an extra invisible div to increase the hit region for mobile (hard to grab otherwise)
    var dragme = false; // Set the initial dragme function to false
    // Detect if mobile device, and if so swap out mouse events for touch events. This is pretty much duplicated code with touch events swapped.
    if (/Android|webOS|iPhone|iPad|iPod|BlackBerry/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) {
        sym.$("mobileHit").show(); // Show the extra invisible div to increase the hit region for mobile (hard to grab otherwise)
        $(function () {
            scrubber.bind("touchstart", function (e) { // Enable the scrib on touchstart
                e.preventDefault(); // Cancels the default action of the mobile device - used to ensure our touch events are fired
                dragme = true;
            scrubber.bind("touchend", function () { // Disable the scrubber on touchend
                e.preventDefault();
                dragme = false;
            scrubber.bind("touchmove", function (e) { // Make the magic happen on touchmove
                if (dragme) {
                    var touch = e.originalEvent.touches[0];
                    var possibleX = touch.pageX;
                    var leftX = bar.offset().left;
                    var rightX = (leftX + bar.width()) - scrubber.width();
                    var scrubWidth = rightX - leftX;
      // Confine the scrubber to the width of the bar
                    if (possibleX < leftX) {
                        possibleX = leftX;
                    if (possibleX > rightX) {
                        possibleX = rightX;
                    scrubber.offset({
                        left: possibleX
                    var relativeX = possibleX - leftX;
                    var stopTimeline = Math.ceil((relativeX / scrubWidth) * symDur); // Make the scrubber scrub the timeline length of timelinePlay
                    mySymbol.stop(stopTimeline); // Stop the timeline of timelinePlay when the scrubber is released
    else $(function () {
        scrubber.mousedown(function () { // Enable the scrubber on mousedown
            dragme = true
        $(document).mouseup(function () { // Disable the scrubber on mouseup
            dragme = false
        $(document).mousemove(function (e) { // Make the magic happen on mousemove
            if (dragme) {
                var possibleX = e.pageX;
                var leftX = bar.offset().left;
                var rightX = (leftX + bar.width()) - scrubber.width();
                var scrubWidth = rightX - leftX;
                // Confine the scrubber to the width of the bar
                if (possibleX < leftX) {
                    possibleX = leftX;
                if (possibleX > rightX) {
                    possibleX = rightX;
                scrubber.offset({
                    left: possibleX
                var relativeX = possibleX - leftX;
                var stopTimeline = Math.ceil((relativeX / scrubWidth) * symDur); // Make the scrubber scrub the timeline length of timelinePlay
                mySymbol.stop(stopTimeline); // Stop the timeline of timelinePlay when the scrubber is released
    What would be the best way to edit it so the scrubbers effected a few symbols?
    At the moment that scrubber is specifically linked to timeLinePlay - but what if we had a few symbols with timelines we could scrub through?
    In my scene there are a few buttons that createChildSymbols in a content box, and I would like the user to scrub through the timeline of each symbol with a scrubber bar.
    I watched a tutorial on variables so attempted writing a few myself but they didn't seem to work, so I just copied the code a few times on the main stage actions and changed the names of the symbols and scrubbers etc - which unfortunately didn't work either.
    I'm sure there is a simple way with variables that this could be achieved
    Does anyone have any ideas??
    Thank you very much in advance for any advice.

    Well I think I've got it..but not quite
    So I changed nothing of the Sarah Justine code above
    But I just added all the animations to the one time line of timeLinePlay and then grouped the elements for each specific animation
    So then when the buttons are clicked they go to timeLinePlay and hide or show the specific groups/ animation.
    So the code looks like this for one of the buttons:
    var myVariable = sym.getComposition().getStage().play("timeLinePlay");
    myVariable.getSymbol("timeLinePlay").$("Group1").show();
    myVariable.getSymbol("timeLinePlay").$("Group2").hide();
    Which works fine - but it only works for the first click. If i navigate to another button that hides and shows a different element then it doesn't work anymore - it shows nothing
    So I tried resetting the timeLinePlay animation with this:
    document.compositionReady:
    sym.resetTimeLinePlay = function() {
    getSymbol("timeLinePlay").$("Group1").hide();
    getSymbol("timeLinePlay").$("Group1").hide();
    buttons:
    sym.getComposition().getStage().resetTimeLinePlay();
    But thats not working either - I assume because straight after the reset, the button also says - to play timeline and hide and show elements so its obviously getting confused.
    Would anyone possibly know how to fix this?
    Thanks you so much in advance

  • Can't view audio controls (time remaining, scrub bar, etc.) in os5 on iPhone 4

    Since upgrading to OS5, my iPhone 4 won't display the audio controls during music or podcast playback.
    Very annoying since I really liked the time remaining and scrub features that I had before.
    Is this a bug?  Or is there some setting control that I haven't yet found to re-enable these features?

    Just found the solution on a different thread.
    Turns out that the audio controls can be toggled on and off, though this isn't explained in the manuals.
    paraphrased from the other solution:
    "While your audio file is playing,  double-tap and hold (on the album artwork) until the scrubbing bar reappears.
    A double tap doesn't seem to do it. You have to hold the second tap down to get it to work. Don't lift your finger from the second tap until the scrubbing bar re-appears. "
