IDVD '08 support for eyeTV recordings?

I recently purchased an eyeTV 250 plus, and have been using it to capture digital TV episodes. The eyeTV came bundled with a copy of Toast 8 Basic that can burn captured video to a DVD but Toast Basic will only burn two video clips to the same DVD. Getting past this limitation requires me to pay $60 to upgrade to Toast Titanium.
What's nice about using Toast to burn the video is that it doesn't have to convert the video in order to use it. Since the captured digital TV shows are already encoded in MPEG-2; it just demuxes the audio and video, and burns the DVD. An hour of video (two 30-minute episodes and a menu) took less than 10 minutes to create, start to finish.
I tried using iDVD '06 to do the same, but it would not accept the MPEG-2 files. Exporting the video to some Quicktime-compatible format will take a great deal of time, and I'd rather avoid doing that if I could. The specifications for iDVD '08 mention MPEG-2, so I'm tempted to upgrade to iLife '08 for basically the same price as Roxio wants for Toast alone. But before I do, I wanted to know if anyone has tried to do this already. Anyone?
Thanks,
Jon

The specifications for iDVD '08 mention MPEG-2, so I'm tempted to upgrade to iLife '08 for basically the same price as Roxio wants for Toast alone.
iDvd eventually compresses QT content to mpeg2 but it won't allow you to import mpeg2 directly without the use of a third party app like MpegSteamclip + Apple's MPEG-2 Playback Component or Visual Hub.
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
No version of iDvd works directly with mpeg2 in terms of importing these files.
However, iMovie 7 now has the ability to import mpeg2 directly from a camcorder's HD. I think this is why mpeg2 is mentioned.
For what you are looking to do, you might be better off with an app like Toast or even apple's pro apps like DVDSP. However, I should mention that DVDSP has a rather large learning curve when compared to either Roxio Toast or apple's i-apps. Frankly, I'd go for Toast in this particular situation.
Good luck & I hope this helps.

  • IDVD support for Blu ray

We want a new issue of iDVD with support to burn Bluray and more menu themes
I bought an external Lacie Bluray burner and it´s OK, but menus of Toast v.10 are...uhh!. iDVD is fantastic but need support for Bluray.
    Please coment

    Use Roxio's Toast Titanium.
Don't 'hold your breath' waiting for a Blu-ray version of iDVD.

  • IDVD says 'supported disk no available,' does not burn too DVD!?

I have an Apple Imac G4 10.4.11, with iDVD 5. I have a 1 hour 20 minute 'AVI file on my computer that I want to burn to a DVD. I clicked 'Open New Project' on iDVD, then clicked 'File' and 'Import Video' and added my 'AVI file. I put in the disk ands started the burn. It took hours and hours then it ended and DVD Player popped up and a message came up on iDVD saying 'Supported Disc Needed,' but it accepted this disc, it is a DVD RW disk. How do I fix this?

    Hi
There are several things to this.
A .avi is a container that can carry several different codecs - most often not working with iDVD - but need's to be converted to something iDVD likes as streamingDV, .H264 or AIC (last two I think)
    • MPEG Streamclip
    • QuickTime with Pro activated
    • Flip4Mac - There is a free demo - to test and see if it works - usually does
    B. Mac and iDVD are picky regarding DVDs used. Memorex and Cheap brands usually gives problems.
DVD-RW so to a Problem maker
I use only DVD-R from Verbatim.
    C. A DVD can be burned into two types. Data-DVD and Video-DVD. To get an Video-DVD one has to wait to insert the DVD until iDVD asks for it (or burn it via Apple Disk Util tool from a DiskImage). If inserted too soon - Mac OS will ask You to Format or Eject it. If formatted You've got a Data-DVD.

  • Coded UI automation support for MIcrosoft Dynamic CRM 2013

    Hi,
I have been checking for a UI automation tool for Microsoft Dynamic CRM 2013. Even though it is mentioned as coded UI fully supports Dynamic CRM, I was not able to automate CRM with VS2013, VS2015 Preview. Please reply if you have any workaround to make
it possible to automate UI testing of CRM 2013 using coded UI.
    Regards,
    Vinu chandran.

    Hi Vinu,
    According to your description,
could you please tell me what version of VS you use to test your coded UI test?
In addition, I did some search and don’t find any information about CRM2013 support for Coded UI test.
    Based on this article:
Supported Configurations and Platforms for Coded UI Tests and Action
Recordings, Dynamics CRM web client is fully supported. Even though I am not sure whether it includes CRM2013, I suggest you should use VS to drag the crosshair
on the control to check the control can be identified by Coded UI Test.
In addition, since the issue is related to the Microsoft Dynamic CRM, I suggest you can ask the issue to
    Microsoft Dynamic
CRM forum, may be you will get better support.
As you said that you are not able to automate coded UI test with VS2015 Preview, because VS2015 Preview is still a preview version
instead of final released version, I suggest that you should submit this feedback to Microsoft Connect feedback portal:
    http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/CreateFeedback.aspx,
Microsoft engineers will evaluate them seriously.
After you submit the feedback, you can post the link here which will be beneficial for other members with the
    similar issue.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Highly Annoyed: No iTunes Support for iPod Nano 5's (new) Recording Ability

Re iPod Nano 5th: does anyone else out there find it to be a p-ss-off that, now that it records videos, voice and steps (well-done!), the iTunes application gives little or no support for any of them? Clear to me: iPod WAS just a playback machine, and iTunes fed it the media, one-way only. But the Nano 5th is now a 3-part recorder, and is Apple going to change iTunes or supplement it to make it a two-way application? Disk use doesn't cut it - and often conflicts with use of the iTunes Sync button (which I use for my songs library). Cases-in-point: I've taken camera videos that I can no longer find on my iPod, even though their files are still in the iPod DCIM folder! For Voice 'memos' (great for recording just about any dialogue or talk), I have first to make sure that the playlist "Voice Memos" in my iTunes library has the same 5 recordings I have on and want to keep on my iPod before I do a manual Sync to transfer the CD songs I've just added to iTunes and want on my iPod. I have spent hours trying to establish a 'disk use' method get back a recording that's disappeared from the iPod's Recordings folder (done by iTunes without my say-so).
Because I'm new to using iPod and iTunes, I've turned to the 104-page User Guide for the Nano 5th. Is anyone else annoyed that it's upbeat language completely skirts Apple's gaping hole of incompleteness in software support for the new recording functions of Nano 5th? Is it dishonest? Pity the Apple underlings forced to write it, knowing Apple iPod execs f--ked up by failing to develop iTunes/software support in tandem with the new iPod wizardry. Back to my question: is this bugging anyone else, and do you have any insight to lend me?
McGoosteraneous ly (a stupid name for an unstupid guy)

I will check out Apple Knowledge Base though. URL is?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search
*The Apple staff are unlikely to help me with "all my issues"* if they lead me thru indirect ways to manage camera videos and recordings and not thru dedicated software that Apple has overlooked to develop along with the Nano 5th.
You will not know this until you get there. If you do not want to march on down to the store then call iPod support.
"Complaining" in these forums is falling on deaf ears. Apple will not respond nor do they read these postings because these are user-to-user forums where everyday folk post questions and offer answers to each other.
If you have a problem with the way Apple has intergrated the iPod Nano with iTunes, post them on Apple's Product Feedback website.

  • EyeTV Recordings / MPEG Streamclip

Others may have already figured this out but I had some trouble with some EyeTV recordings not converting properly into AppleTV using HandBrake. What I've discovered is that MPEG Streamclip with QT MPEG-2 Playback component installed allows you to take EyeTV recordings and convert them into transport streams (.ts) and fix any timecode or data breaks (and it'll do it much faster than EyeTV's export option). I haven't had a single file come out unusable since I started converting all my EyeTV material into .ts files before I feed them to HandBrake.

I don't believe you can add chapters in either mpegstreamclip or handbrake and I wouldn't know any other windows software that might do this. On my mac this can be done easily in garageband but I could also do this in QT Pro.
I'm guessin' you don't have QT Pro for windows, but if you have you would do it as follows.
•In a text editor or word processor, type your list of chapters and save the document as plain text.
Make each item very short (preferably one word but no more than two or three words) and separate each item with a carriage return.
•In QuickTime Player, choose File > Open File, select the text file, and click Open.
•Choose File > Export. In the Export pop-up menu, choose "Text to Text." In the Use pop-up menu, choose "Text with Descriptors."
•Click Options. In the Text Export Settings dialog, select "Show Text, Descriptors, and Time"; select "Show time relative to start of Movie"; and set fractions of seconds to 1/30 (the default is 1/1000).
•Click OK, then click Save to create a text file with descriptors.
•Open the exported list in your text editor or word processor, and open the target movie in QuickTime Player.
•Choose Window > Show Movie Info.
•In QuickTime Player, drag the playhead on the timeline to find the first point in the movie where you want to begin a new chapter.
•Use the Right and Left Arrow keys to step forward or backward a frame at a time as needed. Note the current time in the Properties window.
•In the text file, find the first chapter title and change the timestamp just before that chapter title to the time you noted in the Properties window.
The timestamp might now read, for example, [00:01:30.15], meaning that selecting the first chapter title will jump the viewer 1 minute, 30 seconds, and 15 frames into the movie.
•Repeat steps 9 through 11 until you've identified all the places in the movie that correspond to the chapter divisions and you've entered the proper timestamps in the text file.
•Change the last timestamp (the one after the last chapter title in the text file) to match the duration of the movie.
•Save the text file and import it into QuickTime Player.
•QuickTime creates a new movie with just a text track.
•Choose Edit > Select All, choose Edit > Copy, and close the movie.
•Click in the main movie, choose Edit > Select All, then choose Edit > "Add to Movie."
QuickTime adds the text track to the movie.
•Choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
•In the Properties window, select the video or audio track you want to associate with the chapter track, and click Other Settings.
•Choose the main video or audio track from the Chapters pop-up menu.
If you have a movie with alternate subtitle or sound tracks, you can create multiple chapter lists in different languages and set the appropriate subtitle or sound track as the owner of each chapter list. The chapter list will change to match the selected language.
•Select the text track, then select "Preload this track" (to make the chapter track load first).
•Deselect the new text track so that it doesn't display on top of the video.
The new track will still function as a chapter track.
    •Save the movie as a self-contained movie.
You can now choose a chapter title from the pop-up menu to the right of the timeline.

  • Lack of support for Canon G7 and G9. Alternatives?

I am really disappointed about the lack of support for the Canon G9, and looking at the list of compatible cameras (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835) I notice that Canon G7 - even if it does not have a RAW format, is not supported either.
I am thinking that the purchase of the G9 may have been premature and that I may need to sell it and get another cam that is supported by Apple/Aperture.
What would you guys do? Is there a cam out there similar to the G9 at the moment that has a Apple-supported RAW format?
    Best regards,
    Kjell Are Refsvik

I think the camera closest to the G9 that has RAW support from Apple are the Panasonic DMC-LX2/Leica D-Lux 3 twins. Don't know where you are, but in the US, the Panasonic costs about $400. 10MP, 28-112mm (35mm equivalent) Leica lens, very compact body, and RAW output. The Leica costs $599, and has that classic look.
I don't know much about that cameras, but you may want to investigate.

  • Why no SyncML-support for Harmattan??

I've used SyncML on my N95 with memotoo.com for years. Worked very well. I took it for granted that SyncML would be supported on the N9. But alas, it isn't. I find that really incomprehensible. Worse yet, CalDAV syncing with memotoo doesn't work - I don't know who's to blame for this, but on the desktop it works flawelessly so I do have a suspicion. Even worse: there is no way to sync contacts using CardDAV.
MeeGo (the true MeeGo) has SyncML-support out-of-the-box. And the N9/N950 does have SyncML-support for bluetooth.
Yes, contacts syncing is supported for Ovi. And Google. And Facebook. But I do NOT want to use those services, because of grave privacy risks and because they use yet again some proprietary protocols.
I wonder, what where they thinking at Nokia for NOT supporting some well-known open standards??
(While I'm ranting: why is there ^%@$ Facebook and GTalk-support over XMPP, but no self-defined XMPP account?? Yes, you can add such accounts from the terminal, using mc-tool, but really that's just a kick in the teeth. And where's UPnP/DLNA-support?)

Hey Guys, Did you figure out any way to do PIM sync via SyncML on N9?
I am struggling to get things moving as I come from N8.
N9 just doesnt have any way to sync calendar, tasks with Ovi. Same with Notes.
    Best Regards,
    Suyog

  • ISE 1.2.1 support for Yosemite?

Hello all, just curious. I see in the release notes for ISE 1.2.X that support for Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) was available via patch 12 on the ISE1.2.0 train of code. That said, I see nothing in the release notes stating any support for Yosemite for any of the patches for ISE1.2.1, the latest being patch 3 released 1 week after ISE 1.2.0 patch 12. Can anyone please advise if Yosemite is in fact supported on 1.2.1 with patch 3??
Thank you very much in advance for your help
    Jeff

    Jeff,
    OS X 10.10 is supported in ISE 1.2 p11, 1.2.1 p2 and 1.3.
Patch 12 for 1.2 and Patch 3 for 1.2.1 fix other issues for OS X 10.10, and I recommend updating to the latest patches for these fixes.
Here is the entry in the Release Notes detailing the fix for 10.10 in 1.2 p 12:
MacOsXAgent versrion 4.9.5.3 should be used and MacOsXSPWizard 1.0.0.30
Note that the description for these files denote ISE 1.2 Patch 11/12, ISE 1.3 release and above.  ISE 1.2.1 is not mentioned, but follows the bug fix/release schedule for 1.2, with an adjustment.
    1.2 patch 10 = 1.2.1 patch 1

  • Apple Support for FCE HD - $200 per call???

i had what was probably a minor issue with editing in final cut express hd today. So naturally, i called applecare. They told me that it had been past the 90 days given to us for support from the point of purchase. Fine. However, the apple support representative went on to tell me that Applecare does NOT support pro applications and that i have to pay $199 per incident? I paid $299 for the product itself! Last i checked, i-pods were selling pretty well and i don't think steve jobs needs that money! Is apple serious? Where do they get off charging $200 for a ONE TIME PHONE CALL? Just because FCE HD is a "pro" application, apple can't assume that everyone who purchases this product is a "pro" from the start!
Where else am i supposed to get phone technical support for FCE HD??

These forums are here to give you technical advice. Admittedly it is not over the phone but it is FREE and lasts for ever.
Also you will have the collective knowledge of numerous people not just the one "expert" you happen to be speaking to.

  • I just finished creating a movie in IMovie and now want to burn it to a DVD and make it loop.  Since I just purchased this IMac it no longer comes with IDVD.  My question is how to burn and loop a dvd without IDVD.  Thanks for any help.

I just finished creating a movie using IMovie and want to burn it to a DVD and loop it.  Since I just purchased this mac it looks like they no longer include IDVD.  Is there something out there to help me do this.  I am new to MAC and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.
