IDVD 4 Pauses During Project Opening

OMG! Someone needs to help me ASAP!!!! I have a nearly completed iDVD project with slideshows, videos, many menus, etc. However, I recently userd the iDVD_Egg to create a disk image and burn it as a test; the test work fine. However, immediately upon trying to continue working on the project, I noticed that the project opens, but opens to a blank screen, not the main menu of the DVD. I can access the main menu and all other menus from the "Map" view. The other issue is that there are no options available from the File menu, such as Save, Save Project As, Archive Project, etc.
Please help. Other project open just fine, and I can create new projects. What do I do? I've tried deleting my plist files and that hasn't helped.

SlideShow in iDVD has a 99 photo limit - more than this and all sorts of error occures.
One can have more than one SlideShow on a DVD = X times 99 photos.
or assemble SlideShows in a movie editor (no limit at least not under 650 photos)
(only limit is Time in iDVD (movie time + MENU time --- 60 min or 120 min on SL-DVD and about twice on DL.-DVD )
I use
• iMovie up to HD6 - or -
• FinalCut any version
As they will give a better quality than iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 can do.

CS4 - Project opens, but crashes during save

Adobe Premiere CS4 running on Macbook Pro with OS X 10.6.3
So I've been working with the same Premiere CS4 project file for awhile now, and I've hit a pretty big dead end that I really need some help with: Whenever I save the project (File>Save Project), I get the progress bar that says "saving project", but it locks up half way, and gives me the spinning rainbow wheel of death. I am forced to quit the application. My changes do not save.
I get the same behavior when I try to workaround the problem: Save as, Save a copy... Importing sequences into a new project as well. Occasionally after crashing Premiere in these manners I have to restart for it to load up again.
I am using images and 1 video from iStock in my project. I first saw the strange behavior when I tried to put an iStock image jpeg into the timeline. It showed no preview for it. There was nothing about the image, technically speaking, that I think would cause such a problem.
I don't get it because the project opens with no problem. I can even work in it... just can't save. Any help?

The source material I am using includes jpegs from iStock, video from iStock, psds I create myself (usually flattened). I have also done some simple animation in After Effects (CS4) also from Master Collection. I imported a composition in from AE that matched my presets. I felt that was the most risky thing I've done in this project, but the point in time at which everything started to fail was when I imported a handful of iStock jpegs. I was having trouble getting one of them to preview in the source monitor. Details on that one here from getting its properties in the Project panel.

Notice the dimensions are incorrect. Premiere has since locked up from me getting these properties. The actual dimensions of this image are 585 × 821. This is really the only clue I have so far.
The other thing I should also note is regarding the AE composition that I imported. It had some effects on it that could not be interpreted. Premiere tells me this when I open the project up: This hasn't caused me a problem yet that I know of, because I've gone a couple days with it.

Application crashes on project open

Hi all
So I've been working on a project for the last two days (on a mac). I had replaced a clip on the timeline with an After Effects comp, no problem. I shut down AE then hit render in PP CS5.5 and it just hung, after a long time I killed PP. Now when I open up the project it crashes when loading (on the status bar crashes on item 481 every time). What's weird is all of my auto saves crash as well at the same spot. I figured the original clip that I had been working on in AE may be damaged, so I moved it out of the folder and hit the Offline button during project load when it looked for the clip, no dice. So then I removed all the preview and files from the encoded folder, still no dice. I've basically now got just my .prproj file and my footage, even an older auto save untouched from earlier and just footage yet it still crashes at the same item. All my other projects open fine.
Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

Here's some extra info. I should note that it doesn't actually crash on project open. The project opens fine and I'm able to see my timeline but after a few seconds it's pop up with the following error:

I can recover my project by exporting to FCP and reimporting but I lose all clip settings and effects which is a major pain to re-do.

Can I pause my project when the user clicks?

Hello all,
I am working on a project using Cp4.
My project plays automatically without user interaction.
I need project to be paused when the user clicks on a clickbox at run time & it should play when the user again clicks the same clickbox.
I can pause the project by adding a clickbox and applying the property "pause the project until user clicks.
But it must be a user wish interaction whether to pause or play.
Is that possible ? How could I make my work done ?

I tried it out and it works all right. If you do not want a button, you can also replace this by a click box (that is invisible), perhaps covering up the whole slide and instruct the user just to click on the slide to pause or to 'un'-pause.
As for the construction of the Advanced action (do have a couple of tutorials, but they are for CP5):
Open the dialog box from Project Actions
Be sure to be on the tab Advanced Actions and choose Create a new action from the dropdown list
Name the action
Double click on the first statement, it has to become red
Use the spacebar to open a list, and choose Assignment
From the first dropdownlist choose Variable rdcmndPause
From the second list (after the =) choose Value
Type in 1 for the value
From the third list choose the minus sign
From the fourth, choose again Variable and from the list choose rdcmndPause
Save the action
It is a bit clumsy, but the result should look like this:

Timeline de-activating during project

Hello, all.....
I just upgraded from Premier Elements to CS3. Sometime during project work, usually during the time I import clips into my library, my timeline just deactivates....still at the bottom of the work space but without any keyframe information. I cannot move any clips onto the timeline at all. It has that gray, second layer look that other software gets when it is not an active area.
I can't figure out how to get it re-activated, or what I've done to de-activate that area. Can anyone give me some helpful advise? Thanks!!

CLick on Components & then place cursor on user exit & click De-activate(Button next to Activate button).

Random pauses during songs.

I've had my nano since november 2005, about a month ago while I was listening to it my ipod suddenly paused for no reason(I dont recall jerking on the headphone wire or jack at all).
Ever since then the ipod keeps randomly pausing during songs, the odd thing is it doesn't only do it when I wiggle the headphone jack, it does it sometimes even when its sitting flat on my sofa without anything at all touching it and alot of slack in the headphone wire. Also the ipod does it even when the hold button is on as well so it isnt the play/pause button.
I tried sending it to apple but under the reasons for replacing the nano there was no option for damaged headphone jacks so I chose "damaged dock port" since it is very close to the headphone jack, and I also wrote in the description that the headphone jack is broken. Apple sent back the same nano saying they couldn't find any problem with it so I'm out of ideas.
Oh and yes I've tried resetting it and everything.

hmm another question, when i try to open another service request to send my ipod in again, it says it cant because my ipod already has a service request open, even though ive already gotten my ipod back since last week when i sent it in...any idea how long it will take till i can send it in again?

Pausing a Project

I am new to Captivate and am using Captivate 5. I'm doing pretty well so far but have found myself stuck. I've inserted a button which links to a URL. Is there a way to pause my project so the viewer can look at the link? When I play my project it all works great but when when I click on the button and the view the page the project keeps playing thus a viewer is going to miss pages if they spend too much time viewing the link. Am I missing something?
I've tried a click box around the page but haven't been succesful in getting that to work properly in conjunction with a button on the page.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Open the small button next to the URL-field, if you choose the window New, you can deactivate the option 'Continue Playing the Project'. Here is a screenshot, but this option is here not deactivated. Same if you choose Parent or Top for Window. If you choose Current, it will be automatically deactivated since the URL will be opened in the same window.

Is there a way to have two separate projects open in different windows?

On my old editing software, I could have two separate projects open at the same time. I could copy clips from Project A, click over to Project B, and paste the Project A clips to Project B. Is there a way to have two separate projects open with Premiere Elements, or will I have to just import and trim every clip within the same project?

Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE will not allow two Projects to be open at the same time. It will also not allow multiple instances of PrE to be open.
The workaround, to accomplish what you describe, is to use a ClipBoard Extender, such as ClipMate, which will allow one to Copy a Timeline, or parts of it, from one Project, then Close that one, to Open another one, and Paste the material, that was Copied. Many users employee ClipMate, or similar, to Copy/Paste material from one Project, to another.

When sharing my 60 minutes iMovie project with iDVD inmediately message 'The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (Error in user parameter list)' appears. Could not find the user parameter list, so I've no more info about this error.
Option File - Finalize Project gives inmediately the same errormessage.
Also option Share - Media Browser - Large/Medium/Mobile give the same errormessage.

Can I have two projects open on Premiere Elements at the same time?
The reason I wanna do this is because I've trimmed many hours of clips in one project (One timeline) and I want to start a new project where I have a "clean" timeline and can add clips from the
first project (Cut and paste). Or how do I bring a trimmed clip from one project into another in a easy way?

Your question is in the Photoshop Elements forum. There is another forum for Premier Elements and this will probably be moved.
That said, the answer is that Premier Elements has not be designed with the ability to cut and paste from one project to another. The only "work around" is to "Publish&Share" to a best quality format that matches your project settings. You can control the output clips with the "work area bars". You can then add the new clip to the second project. The output rendering process can, at least in theory, reduce the picture quality. Depending on formats, settings and footage, it may not be noticeable.
There is a third party product called Clipmate that some say works, but not always with good results.

Wrong project opens when double clicking on a project in project view

This is really weird. I have a personal library that was created by importing my entire iPhoto library and a Pro library that was created by just importing groups of images and folders from one of my drives. Both libraries are 100% managed. When Aperture opens, and my Personal library was the library that was open when I last closed Aperture, this behavior occurs. I go to double click on a project in project view and some other project opens. It's not random either. If I click on the project "Kennesaw Hike" for example, then "Jeremy's Birthday" will open every time.
Now the strange thing is when I go to File, Switch To Library, and choose my Pro Library and then switch right back to my Personal library, the projects in the project view open correctly. Something else that might be related. A few times in the last week when the Personal library was the open library when Aperture was closed last, and then I open Aperture later, it would prompt for my serial number again.
Another tidbit that might be of interest. I recently replaced the drive both libraries were on and copied them both to a new larger drive.
Any ideas?

More than one project open at a time?

AFAIK you can only have one DVD studio Pro project open at a time. I've never been sure why (does it have to do with encoding or parsing assets?), but it has always bothered me. Obviously you can in FCP and I just started with Motion, which also has multiple projects open at once. Anyone can shed light?
