IDVD 6.0.1 install stalling

iDVD 6.0.1 install is stalling with a message "Waiting for local disks . . " What can I do to complete the install?

Do you have anything attached to the iBook? How much free space on the internal hard drive? Is it only iDVD? Other apps install? Did you have a previous version of iLife? Do you have an internal SuperDrive?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iTunes in Mac OS X Tiger is outdated. Open  > Software Update to install the latest iTunes version for Tiger.
If you need iTunes 10.7 or a newer version, you have to upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard. First, check that your Mac is supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 If it is, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After buying Snow Leopard, make a backup of your data, insert the DVD and upgrade to Snow Leopard. After upgrading, open  > Software Update, and install the latest Snow Leopard version. Finally, run Software Update again to install iTunes 11.0.4. If you want to install iTunes 10.7 instead, download it from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1576

Delete of hide the existing iDVD application T and all files with "iDVD" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iDVD from the disk it came on originally.

  • IDVD 4 error on install

Hello everyone. Have a problem that needs solving ASAP. I'm selling my iMac on Ebay and was asked a question by a potential buyer about iLife. Upon researching (I never utilized it beyond iPhoto and iTunes) I realized that iDVD and GarageBand were not installed. Previous owner probably deleted them.
So I attempted to reinstall Garageband and iDVD using the customized install on the original OSX CDs. GarageBand installed fine, but iDVD will not install at all. It starts to, and then gives me a "there was an error during installation" and the only option is to stop installation.
I'm at a loss. I'd like to get iDVD installed to bring it back to it's original configuration but don't know how to go about doing it. The discs themselves are fine... no scratches.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi
    Does Your iMac have a Superdrive (DVD-burner) or a Combo (CD-burner & DVD-reader)
If Combo then iDVD will not install at least to version 5 or may be 6.

  • Tiger Install Stalls

I'm trying to install Tiger onto a 366MHz G3 iBook (without a DVD drive) in Firewire target disc mode from a 400 Mhz G4 with a DVD drive. The problem I'm having is the installation stalls at the stage when it is "Preparing Taget Volume" I'm pretty much at a loss as to what to do...

I don't believe this can work.
The Mac with the install disc is going to try to install OS X as appropriate for itself to the target-Firewire Mac which it will see as an external drive. It won't make an installation appropriate for your iBook.
You will need a DVD drive connected to your iBook to install Tiger. You could use an external 5.25 inch USB case and temporarily install your PowerMac's DVD drive into it.
You could even use an external USB hard drive case by removing the interface and connecting it to your DVD drive with no enclosure. This would be a temporary set-up, of course.

  • Install stalls during initializing - illustrator - Macbook Air 10.7.5

    Ran CC cleaner
    Downloaded CS6 Illustrator file .dmg
    Launched Install
Installer launches and goes to "Initializing Installer" but it stalls at about 25% and won't progress. I don't get an error, I don't get a message, it just stalls. If I cancel, the installer just freezes and nothing happens until I restart the computer.
I have 4GB RAM, 12GB of storage, running 10.7.5 on a MacBook Air
This has happened multiple times, I tried for Photoshop earlier and that didn't work either.

Kgager I would recommend reviewing your PDApp.log for the error which is causing your installation to fail.  You can find more details on how to locate and interpret the PDApp.log at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html. You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

  • I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 and cannot install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Install 'stalls' and will not continue. Help!

After resisting an upgrade for the longest time, I had to purchase one to support my new iPhone 4, as my old version would not upgrade my iTunes. Now I cannot get the system to install. It 'stalls' and will not continue. I have tried 3 times [the definition of insanity: repeating the same behavior expecting different results] and each time I had to hard boot to even get the disk to pop out. Help!

Hi there. Thanks for even looking at my question! I am brand new in the community. I finally just gave up and went to bed, leaving it running and my sister watching it. Of course, it did indeed finally install but my gosh! I have NEVER seen something take so long! Thanks again for the email. Linda w/a new OS!

  • IDVD '08 won't install

I've installed the rest of iLife (using the customize option in the installer), but whenever I am installing iDVD, it gets to 57% in the Installing iDVD Themes section, then stops and says:
"There were errors installing the software.
    Please try installing again."
So far I have tried restarting my computer, and making sure that all the package contents for iDVD 6 (which was previously installed) were set to read and write.
    Can anyone help?

Maybe not at 10GB, but we advise 20GB+ free for encoding with iDVD and that has been proven over and over. This is why I have a Terabyte of hard drives for this stuff.
Most software needs more space to install than the software package size.

  • Idvd with new Leopard install

    Hello,
I just upgraded & installed Leopard on my G5, but now when I try to use iDVD i can not get any of the themes to appear in the main screen, all I get is a black screen with the titles of the themes, but not the actual backgrounds.
Has anyone any idea how to correct this?
Any help would be greatly received.
    Thanks in advance
    Mark

I have the same problem as Mark Taylor3 in that Leopard has been installed on my G5 that was originally built for Tiger, and trying to use iDVD I am faced with a black screen as described above. I have downloaded two support updates for iDVD from the Support page of Apple, namely iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.2 which are aimed to make iDVD work with Leopard. When I try to install the updates (first I tried the 6.0.4 and then the 7.0.2) the installer loads up but then it tells me this: "An eligible iDVD application was not found in the location /Applications" and then I am forced to close the installer and go back to square 1. I am sure I do not have a bootleg version of iDVD (if that is what the error message implies) as it came with the Mac from the Apple Store.
What does the error message actually mean? iDVD is in the applications folder and I am sure I have not moved it from its location or renamed it at all.
Another reason to regret installing Leopard, but saying that the transition on my Macbook has been seamless and iDVD works fine on that - it's just the movie is on the G5 and I cannot transfer the file to the Macbook, I wish I could, but I've tried.

  • CS6 install stalls when installing the Help files

I am attempting to install the trial version of CS6. I have tried it on 2 machines with the same results. One is running Win 7 Ultimate and the other is running Win 7 Home Premium. What happens is that when I install it everything sems to do fine until it gets to the Adobe Help files. It then stalls and stays at the same percentage. The time left does increase so it's not entirely locked up. The machine still functions normally. I've not had any problems with any other programs. I have run the Adobe cleaner with the same results.

Same thing with the direct download. I finally removed every Adobe application on the machine. Including Acrobat reader and flash. I also removed the Adobe folders in the 2 program folders. I also removed the Adobe folders in the common folders. Powered the computer down and then tried to install it. Low and behold it actually installed. Did the same on the other machine and it worked too. I seriously doubt it was a corrupt file as they both had different installs. I think it just had a collision with one of the other Adobe programs. I'm working on putting the other programs back on but it does seem like it fixed it. Pretty tough to do just to see if I like CS6 or not. I guess I'll know in 30 days or so.
Thanks for the help kglad. I do appreciate it.

  • Cs4 / win7 install stalls flash player 10 plugin--how to fix?

I am transferring Creative Suite to a new computer, Win7. I have CS3 with a CS4 upgrade. The CS4 upgrade install window is stalling halfway thru, on 'currently installing flash player 10 plugin'. Any suggestions? Do I have to quit and uninstall everything so far, just retry the install, or is there some other workaround?

Uninstall Flash Player separately from your Add or Remove Programs panel. it chokes, because there is already a newer version on your system and you need to get rid of it first. You may even go so far as to unistall everything Adobe and delete the caps.db as explained here.

  • IDVD ' 'No Themes Are Installed'

When I try to open my iDVD on my iMac I keep getting a message saying 'No themes are installed'. When I do a spotlight search for 'Themes' I get an iDVD themes.pkg and when I click on it it simply says 'no themes are installed'. If I navigate to my themes folder and click on any theme the same message appears.
As an aside, when I click on GarageBand it tells me my 'instrument library is invalid'.
    Any help, much appreciated.
    Mark.

    Thanks for your reply Karsten.
I have another slight problem: I don't have an iLife disc. I don't think one came with my machine. All I have is a Mac OSX install disc 1 and 2. Is iLife on one of these discs do you know? And if I click install I am told that I already have a newer version of OSX on my machine (I suppose since I have been installing updates from apple.com). I understand I could install the 'older' version and then re-update it, but if I install OSX from these discs will I lose my saved files, my photos and college essays etc?
I am new to the world of Mac.

I have an iMac and have a purchased iLife 08. iDVD does not install successfully. I get an error message saying to install again. I have tired the numerous fixes on this forum like removing the 1-4 themes in the App support folder and emptying the cache with no luck.

  • Mac Acrobat install stalls while running package scripts

I just purchased the update to Mac Acrobat XI Pro, and while the download went smoothly, the installation process is stalled near the end. I can't quit the program and it doesn't seem to want to advance. Suggestions about how to proceed?
So, here's the deal: I've recently udgraded to a new iMac with OS X10.9, from an older Mac Pro with OS X 10.6.8. I migrated my CS6 apps over and they all work fine, except I've been getting those Acrobat update notices, and they've always failed. So, I mistakenly unistalled the olde version of Acrobat, 10.1.8 before buying the update from Adobe today. Now I can't get the update to install on the new iMac, although it installs and runs just fine on the old Mac Pro. But of course I want to transistion away from the old to the new and I'm stuck with no Acrobat on the new machine.
The installer is throwing line after line of these errors:
    Nov 23 15:46:45 Big-iMac.local installd[476]: ./preinstall: sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: Permission denied
Nov 23 15:46:45 Big-iMac.local installd[476]: ./preinstall: sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting
    Nov 23 15:46:45 Big-iMac.local installd[476]: ./preinstall: sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: Permission denied
They just keep going, and going...

    Hi James,
You need to contact Apple regarding this as it's clearly a permission issue.
You might want to try the steps mentioned at : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3680870?start=0&tstart=0
