IDVD 7.0.2 crashes. Old tricks don't work

Hi.
I have an older 24" iMac. Had to reload the system. (Had to first load 10.4, then upgrade to 10.5 because my mac came that way.)
Since then, iDVD won't open... crashes immediately.
I've tried the normal stuff:
•plenty of free space on HD
•have taken out themes.
•there is NO preferences file...never was. (So I cannot trash it.)
•System is up to date.
My computer didn't come with a iLife disc, so i apparently cannot just reinstall the program w/o going back to 10.4, then upgrading to 10.5. What a pain in the butt.
Can any body be my hero?

Have just created an account to log into forum discussions, so don't know if I have done the right thing by posting here. Please forgive me if I should have done something else, but I thought this the right place because I have a similar problem.
Here's the problem. I have an iMac with Mac OS X (105.5) and used iDVD on this computer a few months ago, but suddenly it is not available to me.
Clicked on the application yesterday and was given the message that it had "quit unexpectedly" before it even opened. Tried Reset and Relaunch but no luck. Don't know what to do, short of reloading both discs for the system, since it appears I cannot reload only the iDVD application.

New Mini-but all 3 of my old monitors don't work

Contrary to Apple's statement "just about any old CRT or LCD will work" it's becoming increasingly clear that I've purchased a seriously flawed Apple computer: 3 of my perfectly good working monitors, on a PowerMac 4400, won't work with the new Mini. (FYI I've and been an owner of serveral generations of Macs starting with a Mac II CX). A brutal 90 minutes on the phone with Apple tech support (20 minutes on hold) got me no where. Rep said I couldn't speak to a supervisor and there "were no known reports of ANY problems with ANY monitors". This forum, however, makes if painfully clear that about half of all monitors, including Apple's DON"T WORK with the Mini. Any ideas on getting old CRTs to work? I'm getting a good system bong and some light (details below), but my Mini is NOT a usable computer. ARRRRRRG!

2) SuperMach 20 Plus>> I only see purple static
3) SuperMac Color display (also 20", using Griffin adapter for sync on green)>>I only see yellow static and fast rolling.

In what format was the Audio You used ?
I only use
• .aiff 48kHz 16-bit (as from miniDV tape Camera - or -
• .aiff 44.1kHz from Audio-CD (as You play on the Stereo)
I never use (directly without converting to .aiff)
• .mp3
• .wma
• - from iTunes
all of them I convert to .aiff 48kHz or 44.1kHz
then iDVD (and iMovie and FinalCut Express AND Pro) takes them without any problems

Update crashes, .dmg files don't work, etc

OK... So I've cleared up a significant amount of memory, roughly 10GB. I've run Disk Utility a few times and still having problems.

To top it all off, I can open an Internet Explorer Browser, attempt to download updates, or programs for reinstallation but when I try and open the .dmg files it tells me that the device not cofigured.
I have NO external drives hooked up. I AM connected to power.

Old Accessories don't work.

So, I had an original iPhone. Paid full price for it. Then they dropped the price by $200. Bought a car integration kit for my MINI ($300 + installation), as well as a dock for my desk, etc. etc. Now I have the new iPhone and it won't work with any of the old accessories, despite the fact that it uses the same connector. What gives? Can anyone tell me the reason for this, and why it wasn't made explicitly clear when the 3G was advertised? It's a really annoying and expensive thing to be surprised with. Every iPod and the original iPhone have worked with the same universal connectors forever. Now 3G owners are suddenly screwed. I'm SOOOO not looking forward to tearing my car apart and spending hunderds of dollars more just to use my new phone.

Regarding having the same USB connection or connector is not everything.
The shape of the iPhone 3G is different than the shape of the first generation iPhone, so the dock included with the first generation iPhone has a shaped opening for the first generation iPhone which is different from the shape of the iPhone 3G. No dock is included with the iPhone 3G as was included with the first generation iPhone. I never used the dock included with the first generation iPhone and doubtful I'm the only one.
Regarding your car kit, did/does it include "made for iPhone" on the packaging and detailed specifications, etc.?
If not, you were lucky that it worked with your first generation iPhone since the connection or connector type is not everything in regards to compatibility.

Packager for iPhone Labs Forum - moved but old links don't work :(

Since Packager for iPhone is an obsulete product now and everybody "should" use AIR 2.6, the Packager for iPhone forum disappered today and all links bring to the page saying: "It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake."
Come on guys, the old links to the specific forum threads should still work, I bookmarked so many links ralated to many problems "to read later" and now they are gone... Would be nice if there was some redirect to the same threads on the new forum if they were moved (I hope they aren't removed). So far we can only used "cached" in Google version...

Library not found after upgrading to iTunes 7, old libraries don't work

For the second time since iTunes 7 was released, I've been asked to upgrade and did so without issue on the first day of upgrading. When I shut my computer down and came back the next day, however, the library is not found when I attempt to launch iTunes. Before, I simply reverted to iTunes 6 and copy/pasted a "previous library" as the current library. Now, though, I have a new iPod and it needs iTunes 7 to run. I've tried copy/pasting a previous library to the iTunes Library folder with no luck.
90% of my music is in the .m4a format so I need iTunes to listen! Not to mention, I need it to update my brand new iPod. I really need help on this, can someone give any advice? Thanks in advance.

I've successfully added it to the raw.plist file and updated the CodeResources file with a new key via terminal, and now aperture displays the thumbnail, and very briefly the larger 'image' in my second monitor, but then within a second it reverts to 'unsupported file type'.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
Someone seems to have found a fix on this forum for a different camera, but I'm still struggling (and I've tried renaming the camera name with and without space/underscores, etc)
(Why Apple hasn't added some of these cameras by now is beyond me - that such simple additions haven't been made is totally inexplicable.)

HT1331 Old instructions don't work with Windows 7

Would be nice if they included instructions for Windows7 since it's the current OS. Also would be nice if they used the right name for the current utility...it's Airport Utility, not "Base Station Agent." These instructions are invalid in Windows7
Go to My Computer (Start > My Computer)
From the menu, pull down Tools and select "Map Network Drive"
There is no Tools menu in My Computer, thus no "Map Network Drive."
Really, if they aren't going to support Windows, the marketing literature should not act like they do.

I finnaly resolved it. If anyone else has this issue, here is what you do:
1. install all drivers from the CD, except the ones related to the graphics card
2. install all Windows Updates, except the ones related to the graphics card. You will have to reboot a couple of times, and keep installing until the only updates that remain are related to the graphics card.
3. install the video drivers from the CD
4. ENJOY

Is it me or old apps don't work with IOS 5.0 ?

I everyone
In an attempt to install IOS 5 , iI realized tha none of the apps could start, only native apps like itunes and mail could work.
I had to return to IOS 4.3 to use apps I open everyday.
Do we need to wait for developpers to update their apps to current IOS 5.0?

For stability reason, I didn't hack or jailbreak the the phone. I managed to go back to the previous IOS setting the phone in "safemode" and installed IOS 4, that was it.

Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.
• Delete iDVD pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named.
com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK will work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’09 v. 7.0.4, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (does work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try

• Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
iDVD updated ?
Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions
EdinSF writes that, The 10.6.3 update with an Open GL fix seems to have taken care of the problem.

IMovie & iDVD from iLife 06 don't work with my computer

Hello all,
I have just installed iLife06, and I have problems with iMovie and iDvd
1. when opening a file from the old iMovie 05 it doesn't work. The transitions are messed up and the audio and video are out of phase. If I try to redo the transitions a big jump happens.
2. I imported a new movie from my camera and when I wanted to edit it (just as I used to with the 05 program) it does not work. Transitions and fades don't work either.
3. iDvd performs the same way with my old files. It doesn't read them properly and I can't use them anymore.
iWeb, iTunes, iPhoto work just fine.
The computer was reformated after having a new logic plate installed two weeks ago.
Does anyone know what I can do to use these programs just like I used to before I installed iLife 06??

I also just installed iLife '06 on my G5 and iMovie HD '06 does not work at all. I am not able to import photos of any format or any DV clips. All of the buttons appear to be frozen (themes, media, editing, etc.). I do get the error message when I start up that some features of iMovie HD will not work since my graphics card does not support quartz extreme. Perhaps that is the problem, but I thought the program should at least run on a G5. I have tried several of the maintenance activities (repairing permissions, dumping logfiles, etc.) suggested on a previous posting, but with no success. I have used iMovie 4 for years with no problems. Is there anything left to do but try to reinstall iMovie 4?

If you have not sync'd your device to your Mac then you will have to force the phone into recovery mode and restore as a new device. Read the information in this link and follow the instructions to recover the phone:
