IDVD 7.1.2 will not burn a iPhoto11 slideshow

Is there a problem between iphoto 11 9.2.1 and iDVD 7.1.2?
I created a slideshow using iphoto and using SHARE IDVD (which the iDVD software was open) it moved the slideshow over to my theme project in iDVD.
I could view and play.  Now I wanted to burn it to a DVD.  The iDVD when through all it processing makes it to Multiplexing & burning.... does the asset parsing, then goes into multiplexing, from there  I get an error message "Multiplexer Error... error during building.... the disk is still untouched...".
So looking at your last download fixes for idvd in july 2011 update was to fix the slideshow problem and it has not.  Is there a problem between iDVD and iPhoto 11?  Will Apple come out with an update, or fix, or a new software that one will have to purchase?
Waiting on Apple

It appears that there is a missing part of the system:
  Library not loaded:
/Library/Frameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/NyxAudioAnalysis
Download and use  Find Any File  to search for NyxAudioAnalysis.  If you find it and it's in the correct location reboot and try iDVD again.  If you don't find that file you can try reapplying the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 updater to see if that will install that file.

Right, now that's out the way, into my problem. Ever since downloading 10.5.5 iDVD has been very jerky when compiling the DVD (almost impossible to do). It is like I am trying to multitask with far too many programs running. Then, to make matters worse, it gets half way through a burn and then stops with an error. It does this whether I burn to disk or image.
    I have: Fixed permissions.
Repaired the Drive (there was a problem but it now tells me it's fine. Both Disk Utility and Onyx).
Un-installed and reinstalled iDVD twice (removing anything vaguely associated with it) and
    Done the appropriate software updates.
Re-installed the Combo Version of 10.5.5.
Run every Onyx maintenance script possible.
    Cleaned every cache available.
I haven't: Erased my hard drive and started from scratch (trying desperately not to do this).
    Killed anyone... yet.
I'm not really sure what else to try. Except maybe downgrade to 10.5.4 again (not sure how to do this though). Hopefully some of you may have some suggestions
    Cheers

  • IDVD 5.0.1 will not burn DVDs...

I just finished installing all my programs: (MAC Office OSX, Studio MX 2004, Toast 5.1.3, and Audacity) also downloading and installing all the Apple recommended updates to Tiger, including the latest "security update".
I then ventured to Burn a DVD... I used 11 separate video clips (DV - Downloaded to iMovie from a JVC Video Camera), non of which were over 1.2 GB... Then I proceeded to create the Menus and buttons and used one of the "motion" backgrounds... I also added 70 still images into a slideshow...Total project size = 3.5 GB.
I tried to burn the DVD many times, but each time when it reached the burning stage, as it was writing the "Lead-in", it popped up a window: "The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry."
I did get it to make a "disk Image" (.img), and this played great from my G5, but when I tried to use the Disk Utility to burn to DVD, the result was the same. It popped up a window: "The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry."
Any thoughts or help with what may be the problem would be most appreciated.
    Perhaps I should upgrade "Toast"?
    G5 Dual QUAD Mac OS X (10.4.3) just purchased - 12/12/2005

Thanks for the insight, but I discovered it was not the Super Drive.
As it turns out I took the advice of another post to this site about obtaining a program called, Mac Sweeper. You can find it here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13200
This found a few different errors most of which were permissions, some associated with Macromedia Studio MX 2004.
So I was able to burn a DVD from my finder, and I used the Disk Utility in OSX Tiger to burn the ".img" file I created from iDVD.
    Thanks for your help!

  • IDVD 4.0.1 will not burn DVD - stays on Stage 4 and times out after 15 hrs

I deleted the plist file, ran MacJanitor, repaired permissions, and recreated the project - same issue.
The project consists of a 9 minute and a 4 minute iMovie, three slideshows (95 pics each) with music, and three imported .mov files 1 min each and I am using standard iDVD themes with motion on.
I'm running OS 10.3.9, iDVD 4.0.1 and iMovie 4.0.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had this happen to me too, and I found a
    solution.
Write a Disk Image instead of an actual DVD - this
    seems to work.
Then, when it's completed, you can burn that image
    onto a DVD.
This also means that you can use the ame image to
burn as amny DVDs as you wish, without having to go
through the tediously lengthy process of comressing
    it all again!
    Hope this helps you out

  • Running idvd 7.0.1; will not burn; just spits out the blank dvd

Using idvd for the first time.  completed project and tried to burn on Dvd.  Used 2 different blank dvds.  After inserting, the dvd is ejected with no message.
    Any ideas?

    OK
    A. Save as a DiskImage first - and see if this is OK - just to separate encoding from actual burning process.
    B. memorx dvd-r and panasonic dvd-r are no favorites of mine - I only use Verbatim DVD-R
    C. I set down burn speed to x4
    D. I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to let iDVD and Mac OS run as intended
    E. I run a Cleaning DVD from time to time
    If that doesn't help
    • Trash iDVD pref file
    • Repair permissions
    • Repair hard disk
Still problematic then control what material is used
    • Video codec

  • IBook G4 + Lacie D2 will not burn iDVD movies?

I have a new ibook G4 with an external Lacie D2; and I can't get any of my iDVD projects to burn. I get mulitplexor errors. So I did as the posts say, and cleared my cache via OnyX, Disk Utility App to repair permissions. Downloaded the latest Lacie drivers. It will burn via Toast 6 (only data DVD). But every time I try with iDVD it fails. Disc images port out correctly with iDVD, but those files will not burn to DVD via Toast and work on my set top DVD player? Any help? Thanks ahead of time!

    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I, too, have not been able to successfully burn a DVD through any Apple application, including Disk Utility and Backup. The only thing that's worked for me is to save my iDVD project as a disk image, and then burn the DVD using Toast. It takes longer, but at least I'm not wasting DVDs.

  • Idvd will not burn after upgrade to maverick

    Hello-
I just upgraded to maverick and now iDVD will not burn a DVD - says it does not have a compatible superdrive. It was working fine until I upgraded. How can I burn a nice DVD now?

Suggestion only. Before launching, did you also check for updates via apple's software updater?

  • IDVD will not burn disc after QT update

IDVd used to work just fine. I did software update and updated Quicktime to version 7. I found that my Quicktime Pro key for QT 6 would not work with QT 7. I called Apple support and they told me how to revert back to QT 6. I followed their steps and successfully have QT Pro 6 back, but not my iDVD projects will not burn. It gets to stage 4 multiplex and burn and spins for hours. When I hit cancel, the disc ejects and is unburnt.
I have followed Apples steps to solve a no burn when you upgrade to iDVD 4.0.1 (remove encoded assets) and this does not fix the problem.

    Hi Dennis
There is ways to delete all of QT and then make a clean install but the
easiest way is to download a back to QT 6.5.2 file from Apple support
    and downloads.
I've done this and keep it till I get an upgrade that takes away the old
files before installing the new ones.

  • Idvd will not burn disks

All of a sudden my work computer and my home computer will not burn disks in IDVD?

Are you getting any messages or warnings when you try?  What systems are you running on each and what version of iDVD?  Is it the same project that you tried to burn on each Mac?  What brand and type of disk are you using?  What burn speed did you try?
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • I give up!!!  iDVD will not burn a disk

I will try to give as much information as I can.  I have been struggling with iDVD for a couple weeks.  It will not burn a disk that has a complete menu.  Let me explain.  I've been  testing it to see if it would burn a disk at various stages of development.  It will burn a disk if I just import the video to iDVD with no menu.  It will burn a disk with partial menu and chapters.  But it will not burn a disk if I have an entire menu, with all the chapter markers, drop zones filled and music.
    Help, please.
    Thank you!!

    Hi
Yes - info - but not really the one I would need. There are so much that can go wrong and in different layers (steps of progress)
    A. First - What You feed iDVD - QuickTime-player can open and play so many more VIDEO-CODECs than iDVD ever can use (it is very picky)
    B. There is the notorious - iDVD BUG - that set's of by going back to Video-Editing program (iMovie, FinalCut or whatever) - then returning to the iDVD project. iDVD will notice but non of the alternatives works - I create a brand new iDVD project - only safe way for me - AND THEN NO RETURN AT ALL !
    C. What other material is used - for menus as Music, Photos and small Video sequences
    D. What Theme was used
BTW - Creating a DVD without a Menu - You must be the only one I've ever heard that was able to do this - It is an often discussed topic here.
    E. And if Your project now runs OK in iDVD - SAVE AS A DISKIMAGE (File menu down to bottom topic)
    F. Does this .img file run OK (Simulated DVD)
    G. Burn it with Disk Util tool.
    H. On What BRAND and Type of DVD ? I only use Verbatim DVD-R (SL-Single Layer)
You see - that it is this kind of info that helps me to make, may be good Guessing's.

  • IDVD will not burn reliably at 8X,

    Dual G5, 512Mb, OS 10.4.2, iDVD 5
If I use 8X media, iDVD creates disk that will not play in other computers
or DVD players. Up until yesterday using disks from same batch and they
    would play fine in anything.
Now, it burns them and they sometimes play all right in the G5
but unreliably in other machines. If i create a disk image and use
Disk utility to burn at 4X, the(8X media) Disk is reliable and plays in all
    computers and players.
If i use a 4X media DVD in iDVD, these play well also,
I've been reading the Apple Knowledge base documnetation and the
most sensible thing is to reduce the burn speed when burning a DVD-R.
How can i set the default burn speed in iDVD, or in the system to 4X?
to clarify, it burns ok at maximum (i am assuming 8x) but playback on
    other machines is unreliable.
if i burn at a lower speed, a reliable disk results.

I've also had bad luck burning anything over 4X on both my PowerMac and PowerBook. I have a Pioneer DVR-103 in my PowerMac and Matshita UJ-815 in my PowerBook. Recently, I bought an external firewire LaCie D2 drive and have had success burning 16X Verbatim DVD-R disks.
Maybe its a drive related problem. Don't know what internal drive you have, but maybe newer drive versions work better. Another issue is that its getting hard for me to find 4X DVD-R disks at my local computer store. Now that I've had success with 16X disks on the LaCie, I don't use my other drives anymore.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iDvd will not burn a disc...there is an encoding error that comes up after the title screen

Like it says in the title...My iDvd will not burn a disc...there is an encoding error that comes up after the title screen.
Here is the process that I have been doing.
    1. put in a blank disk and with the project already being done, i hit burn (not too hard).
    2. iDvd then starts to encode the title.
    3. After the title has been encoded, the burning stops and a message comes up saying "there was an error during encoding" and when ever I try to burn the same message keeps on coming up.
    I am running version 7.0.4
any help would be extremely helpful

    Try using this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

  • IDVD will not burn disk

My first problem was the stuck disk from the previous thread.
The instructions worked and the disk came out on start up.
Now the disk will not burn. The door opens on the yellow light , it pulsates for a while then the door closes. Then Nothing.
I burned several DVD recently and it has worked fine. I wanted to make a copy of a home movie I just burned. its the same batch of DVD-R disks.

    David:
I did as you suggested and it solved the problem.
I first downloaded and ran cleansweep, under batch I ran everything.
I am glad to have the program to clean my catch and other routine maintenance stuff.
Then I down loaded the easteregg at Jeff'c Mac Support Web site.
By the way the site has relocated and there is an auto transfer.
But before running the DVD image I tried burning my movie and.............. it worked.
I saved your instruction screen to my documents forlder for future reference.
Again, thanks for your support. Duzzi
