IDVD app Fault?

When editing slideshows in iDVD, double clicking the slideshow title on the DVD menu page does NOT enter the 'edit screen', showing thumbnails of the slide show pictures, but starts the Slide Show preview running.
Is there a way round this - or, what am I doing wrong?

How to make movie in iDVD without themes. iDVD app quitting during burning

I am trying to make movie without themes and still having problems. I have tried using the map view in themes, dragging movie into the first box on left, looping it - but am seeing a yellow error sign in the theme box. Don't know why this is. Have tried to burn movie anyway but iDVD app quits halfway thru. Today I tried just simply going to iDVD >file>onestep DVD from movie>select movie and inserting disc. This seems to be the simple solution I have been looking for to burn a movie without themes but iDVD still quit on me halfway thru burning just now. Is this a space problem? Disc problem? help...

OK F Shippey - Using this computer for anything other than email is pretty new to me. I have just recently began using imovie and idvd. I have burned one idvd and working on a second. While making the movie I was constantly having to delete old footage to make room for space. In other words I don't know much about space and usage. I know that in my new imovie project it says that i have 7.53 Gb available. I know i have a Lacie external with one DVD on it. So what do i need to know about space on a hard drive while using imovie? How do you monitor how much hard drive space you have while working on projects like this? Do I find this info in About This Mac? Sorry for so many dumb questions. Clearly I don't know what I am doing. Thanks for your reply.

IDVD app won't open

I just purchased my iMac about two months ago. The operating system is OSX, 10.7.3. I just tried to open the iDVD app that came with the computer and got an error message that said, "You can't open this version of iDVD with this operating system." What's with that? This is the app that came with this computer. Thanks for any answers.

iDVD is no longer included with new Macs, so it is nearly certain that it did not come with your two month old computer. Are you certain it is installed in your Applications folder?
If you migrated iDVD from another computer consider yourself lucky. You may just have to update it here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1414
If that does not work, and you migrated your incompatible iDVD version from an older computer (your hardware profile indicates Mac OS X 10.4.7 which is a clue), then you might try upgrading that version first, followed by copying it to your new Mac, followed by applying the update link above.
Here is what you would do in that case: first update your older computer to OS X 10.4.11 using Software Update, and then download and install the following iDVD update compatible with that OS X version:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/iDVD_7_0_4
This will update iDVD to 7.0.4, the last one compatible with OS X 10.4.11. After that you can copy it to your new computer and apply the update above.

Why doesn't my iDVD app work?

I'm having trouble with my app. So i import a movie using the "import" option and same with the images. I click the "preview" option and it only plays the audio and it shows a black screen. Sometimes white. I burned the dvd and it shows the black screen and it only plays the audio. What am i doing wrong? is it the video format? If it is the format, what should it be?

iDVD is not a general DVD encoding program that can handles lot's of various video and audio file types.
No it's very picky.
What did You feed it -
Video - in what codec (.avi, .wmv, .mov are containers no specific codecs) ?
Audio - in what file format - I only use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz as from miniDV tape Cameras - What did You use ?
If it don't play in iDVD Preview - then don't wast a DVD disk on it.
Try to Save as a DiskImage instead and test this first - if this play OK - burn DVD from this.

WiDi app faults on startup - Protege R835-P70 running 64-bit Win7 SP1

Hi,
I recently updated all my Intel Drivers, and when I start the WiDi App I get the following fault in the event log. THis included updates for graphics, witeless lan, and wired lan.
The WiDI dashboard says I "a supported vverison of the software is not installed" , but the Intel site says I am upto date
Am I missing a Toshiba update of some sort.

Music App fault

iPhone 5s 64GB recently updated to iOS8.0.2 although had problem with iOS8 as well.
When on the music app and I try to play music by an artist by tapping on their name, it changes to a completely different artist which isn't even near the name of the artist I tried to select.
Find it very odd and have never seen anything like this before so really stuck as to what I can do.
Tried restarting phone, restoring to an old backup and updating to newer software but all made no difference and the problem is still occurring.
Can only think that there may be a fault in the hardware or that there is a dodgy file somewhere on the phone although have had the phone for over a year and have never had a problem so not sure what it could be.
Please help ASAP!

I recently purchased a Mac Book Pro and find that it has,nt a facility to burn home movies fro imovie. After contacting apple they tell me to purchase a third party dvd burning app, After a little research on the app,s available from the app store the reviews are not good. Has anyone found a reliable app that will do the job,.

Toast is exellent but is no substitute for iDVD - but then nothing really is.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

I transferred my iDVD application to an external drive, and that crashed so now i don't have iDVD. How can I get iDVD again? thanks!

There really isn't much to be gained by putting iDVD on a an external drive unless you are also booting up from that external drive.
iDVD uses ONLY the boot hard drive for scratch space - no matter where the iDVD application is located. You can certainly store your iDVD Project files on an external drive.

IPhoto and iDVD won't open after I reinstalled iLife '08

I was unhappy with iMovie '08, so I tried to load an older version from my iLife '05. However, it copied over all of my iLife '08 apps. I was hoping it would give me the option of just installing the iMovie app. Everything opened except for iPhoto and iDVD. I then reinstalled iLife '08, to try and fix the problem, from the bundled software that came with the computer. But still, iPhoto and iDVD don't open. Here's what iPhoto report says...

delete all of your iLife applications and your iLife receipts - do not do anything with your iPhoto library
Install iLife '08 and go to the Apple downloads page and download iPhoto 06 (a free download for iLife '08 owners) and install it and you will have the best of both worlds iLife '08 and iMovie 06

My dvds that are made from iDVD will not play in a standard dvd player. Can anyone help me?*

I am running iDVD v 7.1.2(1158). I used to be able to make dvds that would play in a standard dvd player. As of today I cannot. I do not know what has changed and I do not know what needs to be updated. Can someone assist me?
The dvds that I can make will play from a disk image and they can play perfectly fine in a computer but not in a standard dvd player. I am using an external dvd burner, (The same one have always used) to create the dvds. I am using iDVD to author them.

• Material used: Video-Codec and Photo file format and Audio file format - matters too. I use
- Video - StreamingDV .dv or AIC
- Photos as .jpg (only)
- Audio as .aiff 16bit 44.1kHz or 48kHz (ONLY - never .mp3 or directly from iTunes - all converted to .aiff first)
With this I do not mean any setting in iDVD - BUT the raw material used in iMovie / FinalCut / Avid 100 / Adobe Premiere
As this usually matters - later in iDVD
How did You Export from Video-editing program used ? I prefer
• iMovie HD6 - just drop the movie project icon (NOT iMovie Icon - the PROJECT one) over into iDVD big menu window (avoiding - drop-zones as they are for other tasks)
• iMovie'08 to '11 - Share to MEDIA BROWSER - AND AS MEDIUM - not HD or other resolution as iDVD does a bad downscaling job.
• iMovie'13 (version 10.0.x) - Share as 480p - Import this into iDVD
• FinalCut (Pro or Express) - Export as QuickTime .mov - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION - IMPORTANT
• Adobe Premiere - I don't know - not tested Yet
• Avid 100 - I don't know - not tested Yet
Cleaning the DVD-burner - If it Burns DVDs OK then that's may be not the problem - But if it only burns CDs OK then either the DVD-burning-laser is dirty or broken.
It is very easy to kill this DVD-laser as it over-heats if one burns several DVDs in a row. I only burn three at a time - then let it cool down for 30 minutes till next batch of three DVDs.

Registering External Fault Policy(s) with a Composite in SOA 11g

I was wondering whether it is possible to register more than one external fault policy with a composite. I have loaded some fault policies into my database backed MDS store. I have added a fault-bindings.xml file locally to teh composite to indicate which components I want to use which policy. this file resembles:

I have also added to the composite.xml file the respective imports / properties to identify the location of the fault policy files and the fault bindings. These resemble:

For a test I have the BPEL component using one and the mediator component using another, both within the same composite. Depending on the order of the 2 properties shown above, only one is registered. This being the second one.
Is it possible to register more than one policy in this way? I have been unable to get both working at the same time. Each works independently if I only register one of them. I want keep the fault policies external to the composites to allow them to be re-used appropriately across composites within an SOA project
My thinking is, in order to be able to have differing policies effecting different components within a composite i'd have thought it would have been possible to define more than one external policy for a composite. However it appears this is not the case as it only registers or atleast works with the last policy in an import. Also placing the files locally within the composite with differing names has no impact.
Therefore i'm assuming (unless I have configured these incoorectly) there is no option to have multiple fault policies for a composite. Therefore there is no ability to define a different policy per component within a composite
