IDVD doesn't open_and never did

Hi, I have a G4 10.4.1
Whenever I try to open iDVD it will say that it won't open cuz there is no drive to burn DVDs. But a couple of month ago I got an extern DVD burner and it still won't open. I posted here before and was told that it doesn't work with an extern dvd burner (La Cie by the way...so it is for Mac). But reading the different topics here it seems that people are able to burn DVD's with an external DVD burner.
Was there something wrong from the beginning on that iDVD never opened (I got the computer in 2003)?
Is there a chance that I will be able to burn with iDVD since Toast doesn't really allow individual backgrounds.

Sounds like you have iLife '03. iDVD 3 required an internal SuperDrive. SkipHaughay is correct. You will be able to burn to the external LaCie with iLife '06 (iDVD 6).
Update to 10.4.6 before installing iLife '06 to get all the themes for iDVD and iMovie installed.
Here are the system requirements for iLIfe '06:

You have to supply much more info to be able to start guessing.
• What material was used ? Video codec, Audio file format and Photo file format
• Free space on Start-Up hard disk. How much ?
• Brand of DVD used ?
• Type of DVD used ?
• Burn speed set down or not ?
• Version of iMovie, iDVD'11 v 7.1.2 (OK), QuickTime and Mac OS ( X.6.8 I read ? )
And all extra info You can supply - that set's us on track.

Is sounds like it might for some reason booting into Safe Mode, which does prompt for a password.
Try a PRAM reset:
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If that doesn't help, restart holding down the option key which should take you to the startup manager. Select Macintosh HD (you may need to use the arrows on the keyboard if the kb is Bluetooth), tap 'enter'. Does it boot normally now?

iDVD doesn't start any more.
On the 20th of March my iDVD 4.0.1 worked as well as allways but on the 21/3 it any longer did not start. I tryed starting it from iMovie such as I used it on the 20/3 and it does not start either.
I ask if it can to be an acceptable attempt of solution, to drag the aplicacion iDVD into the wastebasket, to install it again from the cd's that come with the computer and finally to update it with the revision 4.0.1
Can be any relation with the version of QuickTime?

If it were me, I would downgrade QT from v7 back to v6.x.x as that is the stable version to use with OS 10.3.9.
In addition, I would run the list of maintenance applications found in this post (or ones like them)...

Upgraded to 8.3, now auto fill is not working. I have checked, rechecked my info, saved passwords, etc. to no avail. Is this bug in 8.3. Never did this until I upgraded.

Auto fill works for me in iOS 8.3.
Try the standard troubleshooting steps in this order:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
Restore: Connect your device to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.

I am trying to download my contacts from my iTunes to my new iPhone. I never did a back up on my old one.

I am trying to download my contacts from my iTunes to my new iPhone. I never did a back up on my old one. So I tried simply downloading whats on my itunes contacts list and that didn't work either.

iTunes does not have a contacts list and only stores contacts in a back up file. You need to check if there is a back up that was made when the contacts were on the phone. If you do locate one then you would need to restore from that back up to get the contacts back on the phone.

IDVD doesn't open after iMovie renders

We just finished rendering a movie in iMovie 11. The tutorial said that iDVD would open automatically and it just sits there. IDVD doesn't do a darned thing. The project is due in 3 days, so if anyone has the inside scoop, please let me know..

You mention the project was created in iTunes, but I assume you meant iMovie?
"Rendering" typically happens behind the scenes -- which command are you using in iMovie to render multiple times?

It says upgrade Firefox to 6.0.2, and I do, but the next day it says it again, like I never did it. ? ? ?

It asks me if I want to save a binary code and since I trust Firefox, I say SAVE
But, I did it today, and like yesterday, it will tell me tomorrow I need to upgrade.

I too am having problems with 6.0.2. While waiting for the support area to open for the day my husband asked me if i was having problems. We have three computers on this network so I checked the main, household computer as well. I followed the advice to go to the URL and type; about:config. It immediately brought up a warning that it would void my warranty. That was from HP. My husband had the same thing happen and the household computer as well!
We've been using firefox over three years. Never did we have this problem on any other upgrade. I spoke to HP customer support and they recommended changing over to explorer. I know firefox says to ignore this warning but my warranty provider told me not to ignore that warning. We don't want to switch but I need to stay as safe as possible!

Sounds like you may be the owner of a new phone! If you don't need or want it and no one claims it you probably can sell it. Check eBay to see what the going rate is.
You are to be commended for at least trying to find the owner. Many wouldn't.
