Idvd freezing picture and jittery

I am having problems on my Imac OS X (10.6.8) intel. 21' inch
Processor 3.06 Ghz intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk Mac HD.
I am new to this,and i have been learning the hard way,doing it wrong,then learning in "Forums"
my problem has to do with burning DVD-R,and first i want to point out that i do not have a digital movie camera,
because every thing i have read usually relates to problems of imovie & idvd and digital movie camera's.
I am trying to burn to DVD-R old TV and movie clips i find on You-tube,in the public domain. I know these are
small files,and will not look good on a big screen TV. I have been told that it is not the idvd or a problem with
the burner? But that it may be the quality of the DVD-R' s i am using? i was told to use Verbatim DVD-R's?
The other thing that i have found out is that MPEG-2 is the best quality,but to use that i have to buy some
type of converter download from apple. The other suggestion was to buy Roxio Toast 11 titanium for mac.
I have also noticed that idvd will not let me load flv files into it,or mpeg 2 of course.Any advice at all would
be very welcome?

Thanks dispatx.com, that page was of immense help. I found much of it very encouraging simply knowing that someone has gone through the exact same thing, missing deadlines, sleep, etc.
I gathered as much info as I could and have successfully burned a DVD image now using the "Easter Egg" hurz & pfurz. Why doesn't apple include that in the program?
I cleaned up my powerbook prior to burning with OnyX. I trashed the iDVD preferences. I created a new project in iDVD using the same footage I had exported from FCP as QT movies, not self contained. I included songs I downloaded from the iTunes store (debunking the myth that the protected songs foul up the burning process). I held down ctrl and clicked burn, named the image, and then it went to work.
Timeline:
6:00am started step 1, 10 secondes later, step 2 begins.
9:00 Step 3, Asset Encoding begins (Hallelujah, I never could get to this step)
9:50 Step 4 begins, mulitplexing
10:20 Image is ready and iDVD is asking me to name the image again, I finally figured out this gives me the option of burning several copies, I did and it only took another 15 minutes to create another image instead of starting the whole process over again.
10:40 I drop it into disk utility and burn a 3.7 GB DVD in 20 minutes.
Oliver Luker accurately observes and records CPU usage at each of the steps so that helped me know NOT to cancel even when Activity monitor showed iDVD as not responding.
I went with best performance because too many people were reporting over 60 minutes and best quality as not working well, and I need this DVD done. I had an extras section in the DVD that I yanked. But I don't understand why we are limited to less than 60 minutes. This angers me a bit and I'm determined to find a way to have a good looking DVD with over 60 minutes of footage that will burn through iDVD. I don't want to buy DVDSP, yet.

Share from where, iPhoto? How many photos are in the slideshow? How much free space do you have on your boot drive?
Try this basic troubleshooting fix :
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.

After navigating (sometimes downloading pictures, sometimes not) for approximately 10 minutes, I can no longer see contents of drop down menues, then Firefox freezes up and I have to use Ctrl/Alt/Delete to end my internet experience.

Let's try to answer your questions.
- The E5 does not have a red light when you take pictures.
- I don't know about battery life comparing with E6 and E72, just can say on the E5 is quite good. It has a 1200 mAh battery, you should check the others, but also the features of each one, i.e. the E6 is a touchscreen one, so it consumes more power.
- It has a notification white light, around the navigation button.

Whenever I try to import a photo from photo both t iPhoto or from i photo to Facebook, iPhoto either freezes up and shows nothing on the i photo page, or it sometimes tells me i have pictures imported or not imported yet. Whether I say yes or no it freeze

Everytime I either try ti import pictures from photo booth to ihpto or iphoto to facebook, iphoto freezes up and shows me a message that says this: " Three photos have been found in the i photo library that were not imported." I have the choice to either import them or not. I have tried clicking yes and no. Either way, I photo freezes up, and the rainbow cirlse comes and does not load anything for hours! I just got my mac book pro. I should have no problems like this. WHat do i do to fix it or get rid of these photos?

I can't restart the iphone to reset or restore. I held the homebutton down and the homebutton + sleepbutton down at the same time. The apple doesn't even appear.
I've also tried connecting it to the charger. It's not charging and dosn't recongize it.
I tried connecting the phone to itunes on the computer to see if it registered and charged it but that didn't work either.

IDVD freezes during buring

More that 50% of the time my iDVD freezes during the burning process ruining a blank DVD. Then in freezes out my computer. I have taken it to the Apple store and they run some diagnostics on it get it to work in the store and when I come home the problem starts up again.

Could be that your burner is overheating or you don't have enough free disk space to burn a disk. You need at least 5GB to burn. If the burner is overheating, you might try resting the computer for 3-4 hours before attempting a burn. Or maybe running a DVD drive cleaner through it. Might be a simple maintenance issue with the burner or hard drive.
I suppose that you have tried the oft recommended closing down of iDVD and trashing the com.apple.iDVD file located in user/library/preferences, and repairng disk permissions through the disk utility app.
What media are you using? Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R are recommended.
Try burning from a disk image using the disk utility app, at a speed of 4x or lower.
I have no other suggestions beyond recreating the project and/or burning with different media at a slower speed.

N8 picture and video problems.

I recently bought a N8. Had problems with the phone freezing and restarting on its but after doing a software update, it seems to be working fine. Now my problem is that I cannot view the pictures and videos that are pre-installed on the phone. When I click on the photo icon on the home screen, it takes me to the photos and shows me a brocken thumb nail. Can anyone pleasehelp me with this. Pleas please please.

has anyone else had this problem? I use t-mobile and i believe i have the texting problem when i text people on verizon. I've used other phones using the same sim card and never had any of these problems texting people on verizon. does that mean its a hardware problem? It doesn't seem like anyone else is having these problems.

Combined pictures and a video quickly for a presentation

I have an immediate need to combine pictures and video together.
It is for a fallen solider’s memorial tomorrow at a church that has a video/audio system.
I do not know what type of system but once I get it done I can put it on a DVD or CD or flash drive.
There are 49 pictures which should run for about 6-10 seconds and a video of the Burial at the national cemetery.
I have iDVD and iMovie and am willing to buy or download a program.
I have a friend that may have other programs on a PC.
This needs to be quickly done.
Help is really needed

As you are obviously in a hurry, the last option in the following may be your quickest bet:
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!

Easiest way is to have an external drive to which you copy the things you store like pictures, movies, and music
which take up a lot of space. Then delete them fron the main drive and clean it up with one of the maintenance utilities. You can readily access the external drive's contents whenever you wish.

Timing of pictures and audio

Help me PLEASES! I'm trying to make a slideshow for my friend's wedding. I successfully added pictures and audio. However, I want certain pictures to show during a certain song. How do I make certain pictures go with a certain song without having to mathematically calculate how many pictures should go to each song?

My experience with slideshows and iDVD tells me they play for slightly different durations whilst previewing to when one has actually burnt the disc, so the mathematical solution may be a little frustrating. To compensate for this I sometimes use black slides to space the images and generally end the project with two as I find the audio invariably finishes before the visuals. You may try importing each image as a still into a new iMovie project, thus being able to compose your project in the timeline viewer, showing precisely where each image is in relation to your various audio files, adjusting the duration of each still image manually (or its transition) to fit the audio. Your only limit here of course is you won't have the same transitions as iDVD (I do love droplet) but this may be compensated by the fact you can add the Ken Burns effect. Import this then to iDVD. DL Disks - iDVD Freeze

I am a graphic designer (print), but VERY new to doing anything in video. The iMovie HD project I (personal family video) is 1:10min. in size. When I try to burn a DVD in iDVD, I am prompted for a DL disk - file is too big for SL. I have tried burning this with a DVD+R DL and iDVD ejects the disk with the progress bar only half-completed (in the final "burn" phase, all other steps went fine), but also said the DVD was "finished" in the same dialog box. At this point iDVD freezes and I do a Force Quit.
The DVD plays on the G5 when re-inserted into the Superdrive. But it does not play on any of the 3 DVD players I have - one of which is a brand new Hitachi.
I am using the latest updates to iMovie HD and iDVD v5. But I am tempted to try and open this project on a Macbook Pro running Leopard and iMovie/iDVD v7 to see if that makes a difference.
Is there something else I might be doing wrong that's obvious to more experienced video users?

there's something wrong.. iDVD accepts, as Kirk allready told you, 120min max. on a SL DVD-r.. I assume, you incidently try to burn a dataDVD of your project, no videoDVD...
1) in iMHD - what does the timeline under the huge preview window tells you about the project length?
2) how to you 'transfer' from iMHD to iDVD? .. I get the best results, by a simple Finder operation, dragging'n dropping the corresponding iMHD-project-file into an open iDVD project..
