IDVD (iLife 8) image doesn't come up on Desktop

Just upgraded to iLife 8 and have (ITHINK) made a successful program in iDVD, BUT the disk image doesn't show on the Desktop ... CAN'T eject the disc ... HELP please. Thanks
PS: Have tried rebooting and holding down Apple/Option/F/O - this worked once but won't work again ... I'm stumped ...

After installing the iLife '08 applications, did you do all the updates to several of those applications?
BUT the disk image doesn't show on the Desktop ... CAN'T eject the disc ... HELP please.
I assume you mean the disc ICON doesn't show on the desktop and not 'disk image'. ('Disk image' has a different meaning.)

• Macbook Pro doesn't come with preinstalled iLife

I have bought a new Macbook Pro with os x Mountan Lion, but it doesn't come with preinstalled iLife. I also open the App Store and click Purchases, but nothing appear. Can anyone help me with this ? Thank you very much

This is the article from Apple's knowledge base article :
If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start (up) from OS X.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.
My trouble is, I haven't previously accepted my bundled iLife application within Mac App Store (point #5). Then I sould see my iLife app appear in the Accept portion of the screen.
But, when I click on Purchases button, I don't see "Accept", only the text said "You have not yet purchased any apps"
Where is the "Accept" portion of the screen ?

• Image as drop-down text link -- image doesn't appear

(Using Robohelp X5)
Wondering if anybody has had anything like this happen before
and can explain it for me???
First line of topic is type
. At the end of the
line I have an icon that is a link to drop-down text.
Here's where it gets weird. I compiled the help and displayed
the .chm. Looked at the topic, the image doesn't appear, but is
clickable (and works properly). Used the 'print' option from the
.chm to print to .pdf. The image appears in the .pdf.
Looked at the code, can't see anything wrong with it.
Back in the wysiwyg editor, selected the last character of
normal text plus the clickable icon, copied and pasted in place (so
now have
<text2><dropdown2><text><dropdown>)
Removed <text><dropdown> (the original content),
edited the code to use the proper 'name' attribute (because it was
modified on the paste), recompiled, ran the .chm, everything
displays properly (the image is there).
Note: I was having similar problems with it earlier, think I
fixed it the same way, and everything was okay for a few compiles,
then started having the problems again.
At this point, as far as I can see, the .html is the *same*
as it was before, but now the image appears in the .chm. Colour me
totally confused :-)
Anybody have any insights as to why this could be happening?
Thanks!

• Special attribute "image" doesn't seem to work with "progressbar"...

hi all !
I'm using special attributes of the plug-in (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/special_attributes.html) to customize its look while loading. I noticed that when I use the "image" attribute, it works fine, but if I use the "progressbar" attribute too, the image doesn't appear anymore (in fact, if I use "progressbar" without "image", the default coffee cup icon doesn't appear either)...
Is it a well-known bug ? Am I doing something wrong ? Does somebody have any info ?
TIA...

Damn, I made a rookie mistake... :(
Sorry, this is indeed a well-known fact (but not considered as a bug) : http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4794328.html.
Sorry again...

• Image doesn't display

I have index.jsp at the root level. I this redirects to xrate.jsp at the following path: WEB-INF/views/jsp. At the same level is include.jsp and includeTop.jsp. My images are at WEB-INF/images. CSS files are at WEB-INF/styles. Here's thier jsp declaration code:

xrate.css
div#logo {
width: 720px;
height: 140px;
background: #A8A8A8;
}When xrate.jsp loads, I get everything except the image doesn't display, just its placeholder with the alternate text.
I am using MyEclipse's jsp visual designer and in the preview mode, the image properly shows. I've checked the deployed files and everything is in the correct location. Also, the browser is set to allow images to download.
Any ideas anyone??

Take your images/styles out of the WEB-INF directory.
The WEB-INF directory is protected from the browser.
Nothing requested from the WEB-INF directory will be served directly. You can forward/include these resources from other servlets/jsps but they can't be accessed from a direct url.
Shifting images/styles out of the WEB-INF directory should fix it.
You will of course have to fix your links.
Note that links are resolved relative to the requesting uri (or the html tag if present), not necessarily to the actual location of the JSP.

• Itemrenderer with images doesn't work correctly if variableRowHeight="true"?

Hi all,
I have a problem to use itemrenderer in my project:
I have to show some images in one of my DataGridColumn:
<mx:DataGridColumn id="datasetcolumn" headerText="DataSet"
dataField="dataSetList"
width="240"itemRenderer="DataSetRenderer"/>
The dataSetList is an arraycollection of images;
I use Tile as the itemrederer, My DataSetRenderer is:

<mx:Tile xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
horizontalScrollPolicy="off" width="90%" height="100%" >
<mx:Metadata>
[Event(name="showCaddwgNOVWebDataset",
type="flash.events.Event")]
</mx:Metadata>
<mx:Script>

import mx.controls.Image;
import mx.controls.AdvancedDataGrid;
import mx.core.IFlexDisplayObject;
import CETEvent.*;
import view.util.*;
import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
[Bindable] public var myarr:ArrayCollection = new
ArrayCollection();
override public function set data(value:Object):void{
super.data = value;
myarr = value.datasetList;
this.myrep.dataProvider = myarr as ArrayCollection;

</mx:Script>
<mx:Repeater id="myrep" visible="true" >
<mx:Label text="{myrep.currentItem.itIconName}"/>
<mx:Image id="datasetImg"
source="{myrep.currentItem.itIconName}"
useHandCursor="true" buttonMode="true" mouseChildren="false"
toolTip="{myrep.currentItem.itName}"/>
</mx:Repeater>
</mx:Tile>
The problem is:
Whenever you change the column size or scroll down the
datagrid,
the images will be added again.
if the datasetlist is changed the old images doesn't clean up
and
all the images messed up
Any suggestion is appretiated!
Thanks in advance

I loved Ben's suggestion because it promised to be a low-effort workaround, but, alas, I get the same problem: "lvlib is already loaded from this path...".
I tried Olivia's workaround for CAR 124214. It worked great for the simple lvproj that is posted above. (Hooray!) It didn't work so well in my real project, that has about 30 lvlibs and lvclasses. About 3/4 of the way through the save, I got a compiler error and LabView crashed. (Boo!) I submitted the crash log on this, but it's hard to imagine how anyone in R&D could make any progress debugging this without the source code. (And I can't submit the source because I can't export a copy of it!)
Anyway, thank you very much Ben and Olivia for your suggestions. I have lvclasses embedded in lvlibs (primarily for organizational reasons) and since LabView tanked while saving one of those, perhaps the workaround doesn't work in this case. I may try again after removing the lvclasses from the lvlibs so that the hierarchy is flatter.

• IDVD 6 slideshow image quality

Still image quality in iDVD slideshows is a topic that comes up again and again on the iDVD forums.
Two and a half years ago, I made a test with an earlier version of iDVD. Now, with the release of iDVD 6, it was time to repeat the test.
Go to my page: http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/iDVD_6size.html to see the test.
The results represent pretty much the best posible quality results you can get with still images in iDVD 6 because I used TIFF files and High Quality JPEG files (Photoshop level 10) in the test.
You can see just how much quality loss occurs in the iDVD 6 MPG-2 compression process.
Take a look and we can discuss the test further here.

I have updated some of my comments on the web page.

• Volfs in virtual machine doesn't come online

Hi,
I am running Solaris10 inside Virtual Box 2.1.0.
Even though I am mounting the ISO image for vol2 of Solaris10 installation, when the system reboots, the system doesn't recognize the cdrom and I have to skip installing the rest of Solaris cd's.
The volfs doesn't exist and svcadm enable says that it doesn't see "volfs" pattern ...
what the heck is going on?
Does anyone know on this forum?
Please help ...
Thanks

• Image doesn't match when previewed or exported

Ok, so I have just recently upgraded to the latest version of FCP studio and have been having the weirdest problem with it.
I'm working on a project with two layers of video (a full-screen image with a small box insert. The insert video plays fine but in five spots (out of an eight-minute-long video) the full screen image doesn't play the clip that's put in there.
I've double clicked the clips to verify that they're correct and they look fine on the preview monitor. I tried going in and finding the original shots and replacing them but they are still showing up as the incorrect shots in the sequence monitor. I tried going in to the render files in the document folder and deleting and re-rendering. The problem still re-occurred. I then took off the insert for those clips, rendered, and they looked fine but then when I exported to Quicktime then the wrong images re-appeared in the exported file.
Does anyone have any ideas of what may be going on here, how to fix it, and/or a good work-around?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the MacBook Pro problems?
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macbookprosoftwareupdate11.html
That said, I'm not sure I'd run the 1.1 update if you hadn't run the 1.0, there were so many problems with the 1.0...
Are you using filters, or just resizing the overlaid video track?

Does this help?

I bougnt my S5 a month ago and I am having two major issues. The screen is very slow to respond. When the screen is dark and I press the home button, it doesn't come on. I have to press the button anywhere from 4-10 times and then it usually flashes on and back off. It is very, very frustrating. The other issue is that the battery drains very quickly. I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues. They tell me to do different things that never help. We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues. Help! It is a brand new phone and unfortunately I am in a new two year contract. Ugh. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

I have done that several times. In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly. I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time. It never does. After doing the factory reset and it still not working correctly, they act like they are confused, almost like I am lying. I did what you suggested above on the slim chance it would work this time but it did not. I bought two S5's that day and the other one works perfectly fine. I know I got a bad phone. Verizon just does not listen. It is a bad phone. I just want a new phone that works properly. Is that too much to ask? I bought a new phone that has been bad from day one. Why oh why do I have to spend hours of my time on the phone, in the store, on the computer, trying to rectify this? It shouldn't be this difficult! Help please!!!

• I'm trying to open files which are telling me to instal Adobe Reader. Which I did but the agreement which needs to be ticked off so this reader can open doesn't come up. Please could you be of some assistance.

Select one of the files, Choose GetInfo from the Finder's File menu, look for the field named "Open With", and choose Preview from the adjacent menu. Accept that ALL such files will Open with Preview, and your major problems should be solved.
Occasionally, a particularly complex .pdf file or one that needs to be modified and re-written will not work quite right with Preview, but such issues are rare.
