IDVD Incompatibility With X.3.9 - What's Needed.. ?

I can't burn a disk using iDVD 6.0.3 in OSX.3.9 on a G4 800 Dual and believe iDVD5 is the requirement but I haven't now got iDVD5 which used to work. Can anyone provide a copy of iDVD5 for me or alternatively explain any method I can use to burn a disk with 6.0.3normally used with X.4 ... ?
I want to let my grandson learn on the G4 so it's important for me to get the disk burning up and running.
Anyone ?

Hi, Ron. iDVD 6.0.3 requires either OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.3 or later, so your OS is up to snuff. I suggest posting in the iDVD 6 forum, where you may find people who can help you more expeditiously than here.

  • OBIEE with Essbase as datasource-what I need to know

I am getting into a project where Essbase is the datasource. I know nothing about Essbase but I an experienced OBIEE prof. Can anyone tell me the things I need to know about integrating Essbase with OBIEE, using Essbase cubes in obiee. I looking for some basic fundamentals of Essbase so I could successfully use Essbase cubes with OBIEE.
I find lot of materials online but not sure what I need to know for using Essbase as datasource for OBIEE. Any insight / links would be of lot of help. Thanks a million

It really depends on what you plan to do and which products in the stack you're going to use for what. If you intend to use Essbase as an aggregation layer to speed up you analysis, then you should look into learning more about fine-tuning your Essbase applications in terms of data loads, aggregation, optimizing calculations,...in terms of languages MDX and MaxL.
If you're looking to integrate applications like Workspace as well then you'll have to look at those as well.
Both areas are vast in terms of applications and functionalties so I'd suggest learning the basics and then deepening your know-how according to needs.
    Cheers,
    C.

  • Apparent XP SP3 incompatibility with PC Suite 6.86...

On my Windows XP with SP3 I have installed PC Suite 6.86.9.3.
Since I have upgraded by SP2 to SP3, it appears that I cannot use PC Suite to connect to my NOKIA 6230.
The get connected wizard states that there is no connection type, although my Bluetooth is perfectly working.
I've already tried reinstalling the PC Suite program, rebooting the computer, etc.
Is this a "temporary" incompatibility ?
Any ideas on what to do?
    Thanks!

I have Nokia N80 IE..., PC suite works very well on Win XP 32bit SP2...., i am connecting over bluetooth
i have upgraded to SP3, and still works....
after few weeks, i did windows update, and installed small number of packages.., after this.., nokia pc suite doesnt recognize my mobile (and any other).., i can't select nothing (irda, bluetooth, USB)...
i tried with USB cabel, also.., but nothing happens...
i think problem is in windows upadate, bluetooth connection works differently or it's problem in nokia pc suite (latest- 6.68.9.3)...
other bluetooth software works fine now...
I am very angry because I cant sync my N80 and Outlook...

  • Issue with latest Adobe Reader 11.0.10 - Adobe Reader cannot open in Protected Mode due to incompatibility with your system configuration.

Since updating to the most recent Adobe Reader v11.0.10, getting an Adobe Reader Protected Mode: Adobe Reader cannot open in Protected Mode due do an incompatibility with your system configuration.  Would you like to open Adobe Reader with Protected Mode disabled?

The solution I was looking for was to launch Adobe Reader in Protected Mode.
I could not identify issues preventing Protected Mode from starting.  What ended up working, was to do a complete uninstall, followed by a reinstall.  Now we can load Reader in Protected Mode.

  • When I'm done with my fcp sequence, whats the best way to get it to dvd?

When I'm done with my fcp sequence, whats the best way to get it to dvd?

The advice to go to Compressor left out the part that you may want to convert your audio to AC3 becaus ethe MPEG2 bitrate is probably too high for DVD specs.
This method is in the DVDSP manual and it's in the Compressor manual, both difficult to locate, but easily searchable.
Here's what I'd do: Export the timeline form FCP in the native sequence settings, self-contained. Bring that self-contained movie into DVDSP and let DVDSP handle the transcode.
The advice to go to iDVD is even easier.

  • Idvd project with video and slideshow for dvd-rom file access

working on an idvd project with both a video section and photos in a few photo galleries. its' a slightly more complex project, but still only 2gb on a 4gb disc. After we burn (with all dvd-rom contents checked, and advance>edit dvd-rom contents shows photo files all there) the finished disc doesn't have files available in the dvd-romcontents! its' driving us mad as simpler projects are burning properly, with both photo and video files available. Could there be some kind of conflict occurring? does anyone have any ideas?!

    Steve,
It sounds like Windows Movie Maker Live was used. The regular WMM will Export to DV-AVI Type I, which will Import into PrPro much better.
I would recommend converting the WMA/WMV to DV-AVI, and Importing that into a DV NTSC (if you are in NTSC-land) Project.
Then, you would use Encore to do the DVD authoring. There are several ways to get the material on your Sequence into Encore. ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) is probably the easiest way to do this.
What is your exact workflow from PrPro, into Encore?
What brand of blank media are you burning the DVD to?
This ARTICLE will give you some tips.
Good luck, and let us know a bit more,
    Hunt
PS - Multiplexing is the function of combining the Audio and the Video into one file. There are usually two choices, "None" and then often "DVD." For None, you will get two separate files - one for the Audio and one for the Video. With "DVD" you should get a muxed (combined) file. Actually, the separate Audio and Video is the preferred way, if one is doing an Export from PrPro, and then an Import to Encore. One would Import the Video into Encore as a Timeline, and the Audio as an Asset. In Encore, just drag the Audio file from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place.

  • Burning iDVD projects with external LaCie burner

I recently purchased a LaCie DL d2 DVD RW with LightScribe 16x from LaCie (12/07/2007). The primary reason for my purchase was that I wished to create/burn iDVD projects on my iMac computer. The reason that I needed this product was due to the fact that, when I purchased my iMac, I made an error and ordered the iMac with a combo rather than SuperDrive. So, while I am able to create iDVD projects and iMovies, I am unable to burn DVDs with my project.
Thus far, however, I have not been able to burn a DVD with any of my products. When I attempt a “burn” the Creating your DVD menu appears and when I put in a blank DVD+RW 4x 4/7GB, it goes through the process (Prepare,,, Process Menus... Process Slideshows... Process Movies and Burn procedures). The DVD is then ejected and a message says its done and is “cleaning up.” However, that message never leaves the screen and when I click on the “Cancel” button, nothing happens. The iDVD application seems to lock up and I have to do a “force quit.”
I have tried this with three different project, all with the same result. When I place the supposed “burn” DVD in the Combo Drive, it spins for a while and kicks the DVD out.
I have also tried launching Toast Titanium (software that came with the LaCie burner). However, I see no place where I can “drag & drop” a iDVD product to the “drop zone.’
Can you help me out. Should I be able to burn iDVD projects with this unit? If so, what am I doing wrong.
Thanks for any help that you can provide.

  • Captivate incompatibility with Firefox

Is there a chance of Adobe solve, for the version 9, the incompatibility between the content generated by Captivate and Firefox browser? Or is there a productive solution for this incompatibility?
It is a shame for a so expensive product, from a so respected company, to present some very basic problem such as incompatibility with a so important and use browser, which has 25% of the global market share of browsers. What I read in the Adobe Community forums is users working around this issue with limitations in the use of Captivate features and making changes in the Captivate code. If it was a free software, I would understand this kind of fact. But for a so expensive product, it is simply unacceptable, especially because I cannot find any explanation or excuses from Adobe about it.
Please, if someone has some productive solution for this Captivate x Firefox issue, responde this question.

I believe it is due to Mozilla not wanting to pay for the licensing of the MP3 audio files, among other things.
I've seen workarounds for Cp6 but haven't yet replicated the efforts in Cp8's newer installation files.

  • Just updated to firefox 5.0 and my google toolbar has disappeared, went to reinstall it and error message says google toolbar is incompatable with firefox 5.0. Any solutions? Thanks

Last night I opened firefox and it said there was an update (5.0) available, so I updated. When I opened the browser this morning the google toolbar was missing, so I went to the google site and tried to download the google toolbar for firefox. A message appeared in the next to a piece of green jigsaw saying the google toolbar is incompatable with firefox 5.0. Is there some way to make it compatable? Regards, Peter.

You would need to install the Addon Compatibility Reporter, but you need to start working on those workarounds because ...
'''The Google Toolbar is no longer supported by Google in Firefox 5 and up''', you may be able to get what you want from it for a limited time, the directions to install the Google Toolbar were posted before Google actually announced dropping support.

*the-edmeister posted a brief evaluation of the situation<br>https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/841736
In any case you can find several alternative solutions, and you can start working on them now, see

  • Yosemite incompatibility with older time capsules?

I backed up my Mavericks late 2008 MacBook Pro and installed Yosemite - I am impressed it flies like the first day i bought it 6 years ago, what great hardware!! Yes here's the "However!!" I have problem now though, not with my MacBook ProI, but with my 3rd Gen time capsule - the only thing that has changed is the install of Yosemite and yet the Time Capsule although initially recognised by Airport - keep splurging out "An unexpected error occurred. Try again". Of course, I've followed every advice I can get find; reset to factory, connect over WAN over WiFi, reset for 5 secs, when it powers on etc. etc., but no joy. I tried installing previous Airport Utility, but only the version that comes with Yosemite works with it. So, I believe there may be some incompatability with the new software or Airport version and that version of time capsule firmware and/or hardware, it was working perfectly on Mavericks an hour before update. Nothing I can find in any notes/docs from Apple said I had to be wary. Ho hum!!! Just be careful out there!!

OK, thanks for the clarification on that. No guarantees using wireless, but we will try.
To set up the older Time Capsule, we need to know what operating system you are using on your PC or Mac.  If you have a Mac and are not sure what operating system it is using, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.
An iPhone or iPad could be used for the setup as well.
In the meantime, please take your laptop and walk it slowly to the area where you plan to locate the "extending" Time Capsule.
Check to make sure that you can get a good, solid, reliable wireless signal at that point. If you can, great.  If you cannot, then you will have to move your laptop closer to the "main" Time Capsule to find the right point where you can get a good, reliable connection.
The "extending" Time Capsule can only extend the quality of signal that it receives, so the right location is critical for decent performance.

  • Will the Apple mini DVI to video adapter work with a macbook? What to Buy?

I went to my local Apple Reseller and asked for a mini dvi to video adapter to use to connect my macbook to a tv using either s-video or the yellow RCA cable. I was told that they only had the one that was for an ibook and Power book and that this would not work with a Macbook. I would need a different one. Is this correct. If so, what do I need? I have looked on the online Apple Store and cannot find anything that fits this description. They only list one type of Mini DVI to tv adapter? I just want to be able to connect my Macbook to a TV.

As it happens, I just bought the mini-DVI to video connector for my wife's Macbook (C2D) yesterday. I am in Australia (which is a PAL country), but I didn't see anything on the device or the packaging which indicated it as being PAL-specific. In fact, in Display Preferences when it is connected to the Mac and TV and in use, the panel relating to the TV output (which is shown by the Mac on the TV screen) is where you select between PAL-50Hz and NTSC-60Hz, so I'd guess it is a single worldwide device, rather than their being separately-manufactured PAL and NTSC variants of the connector.
Anyway, on the back of the top cardboard part of the packaging is a picture of the connectors (because you cannot really see the pins in the Mini-DVI connector itself when packaged, due to an opaque plastic "keeper" over the end of the plug).
To reconfirm what is said above, the pin configuration on the mini-DVI port on the MacBook and what you need on the Mini-DVI connector is a horseshoe or "U" shape. I don't remember if any specific model of Mac is listed, but I believe as long as it is that U-shaped connector you'll be fine with the same connector kit.
The "mini-VGA to video" connector is not what you want for a MacBook; mini-VGA is not "U"-shaped inside, but rather two rows of pins in "II" configuration (even though the outside dimensions of mini-VGA and mini-DVI look very similar).
