IDVD incompatible with Adobe LightRoom

I've just spent the last hour trying to work out why iDVD crashes (no warning) when I try to preview a slideshow I've just added to my project. I had added a folder of JPEGs which I exported out of Lightroom using the save as original format (they started as jpegs from a few compact digital cameras). I eventually tried different jpegs (not from lightroom) and they worked fine. So I opened graphicConverter and removed the meta data from the lightroom ones and tried again. This time they worked fine.
Perhaps Adobe is exporting non-standard meta data but even if that is the case iDVD should have handled it better.
I found a few errors in system.log like:
NSExceptionHandler has recorded the following exception:\nNSInvalidArgumentException -- * -[NSCFDictionary addObject:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x183a9480
An exception of type NSInvalidArgumentException occured.

Hi all
I have the excat same problem. Indesign CS5 and also my CS4 comes op with the error code 14.
It qrashes before I get into the program, also when I open it throug the program Icon and not the file.
I have tried:
Restarting
Shot down and take out the power cord for severeal minutes
Deleting the preference files "Defaults" and "SavedData" manualy
Deleting the file "InfoPlist.Strings" in folder "itlproj" which was a folder that keept showing on restart. (it was a italian languae to a dropdown shadow throug Flash CS5)
Remove indesign CS5 and CS4 (with the program uninstall icon) and reinstalled it
I have no clue to what more I can do. Think it could be a system fault. I have the following:
Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
Dual core Intel Xeron
Snow leopard
It just suddenly didnt work. Couldnt copy paste text from a mail into a file in Indesign and then it just crashed. Havent installed any new updates or programs so it is very weird.
Any help would be very much appriciated

  • Incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14)

    Hi all,
I've been having major problems with InDesign CS3 and OS 10.5. It always crashes when I try to Place, Export, Save As, anything that requires it to navigate the finder.
Now, while trying to export to PDF, the document froze. So I had to force quit it. Now ANY InDesign file I try to open gives me the error message:
The file "file name" is incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14).
Has anyone experienced this? I'm now stuck as I cannot open anything to get some work done.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is the Nikon D5500 supported with Adobe Lightroom 4.4?

Is the Nikon D5500 supported with Adobe Lightroom 4.4? Thank you.

No it isn't. In fact, it isn't supported by ANY version of Lightroom at this time. DNG converter 8.8 supports the model, and you can use it to create DNG copies that can be used in Lightroom 4.4. But the D5500 will never be supported in Lightroom 4.4. Support will probably come in the next update or upgrade.

My other laptop crashed with adobe lightroom installed on it.  How can i de-authorize that computer (not able to boot up) and install it on this computer?

There is no de-authorize process for Lightroom. Just download the latest version and use your License key to authorize on the new computer.

  • Snow Leopard Incompatible with Adobe

I received one of the first iMacs pre-loaded w/ SL, only to find out Lightroom is incompatible and won't install. After spending several hours on the phone with Adobe and Apple Tech Support, they confessed that they are not sure what software will work with the new OS, and have no timeline when non-functioning softare will be made compatible. My assumption is none of Adobe's Creative Suite is compatible, although I'm not going to spend any more fruitless hours on this project. Apple's final solution is to send me a 10.5 Leopard disk to install and see if that will work. As a former Windows user, this smells exactly like Windows Vista / XP...

The most current version of Lightroom is 2.4 I believe and it runs in Snow Leopard as do both CS3 and CS4 and I'm sorry you've not been getting straight answers but that is, unfortunately, the nature of Adobe's relationship with Apple and the software company's careful use of language to avoid saying anything that it might be held to later.
Adobe officially says CS3 is not supported for SL but it runs and I think it actually runs better on Snow Leopard than Leopard. Adobe wants you to upgrade to CS4 so, in my opinion, the company is using language to scare you away from CS3. Adobe talks about a Snow Leopard version of CS4 being delivered sometime in the near future but that doesn't mean the program currently doesn't work. It does. The company is merely engaged in CYA and tweaking Apple's nose.
Now having said all this, you need to know that Adobe products often need to be uninstalled and reinstalled to work properly. Adobe doesn't follow Apple's rules and those are the consequences for us. Actually I was rather surprised to discover that Photoshop and InDesign (CS3 versions) didn't need to be reinstalled after I installed Snow Leopard but LightRoom did.

  • Using iPhoto together with Adobe Lightroom

I use Adobe Lightroom for my image organizing/tagging needs, since it's way more powerful than iPhoto in this area. I would however like to use iPhoto for my daily image browsing, syncing with my iPhone and for ordering prints/books ++. The way I do this now, is I let iPhoto scan the folder where I have my images. After a while when it gets outdated, I delete the database and rescan in iPhoto. Kinda cumbersome...
    So:
    1. Is there a way I can make iPhoto rescan my image folder? Maybe some script or something that can do it for me?
    2. When I rate images in LR, the ratings are stored in the IPTC Urgency field. When I import to iPhoto it doesn't import this as rating. Any way I can convert IPTC Urgency to iPhoto rating?
    3. Would Aperture be a better choice for working together with iPhoto, or would it be just as cumbersome?

    In reverse order:
    3. Would Aperture be a better choice for working together with iPhoto, or would it be just as cumbersome?
It’s a lot better. You can grab your previews from Aperture right into iPhoto using a Media Browser, but given that Aperture will do all those things - books, syncing with iPhone etc - you’ll probably need to do it less. Like iPhoto, Aperture is integrated throughout the OS, in every Open... Dialogue, through Media Browsers to integrate with other apps and so on. The primary advantage of using Aperture is that +at least the two apps know each other exist+.
    2. When I rate images in LR, the ratings are stored in the IPTC Urgency field. When I import to iPhoto it doesn't import this as rating. Any way I can convert IPTC Urgency to iPhoto rating
I don’t think so. There is no real way to move ratings between any apps that I know of. This area of metadata is still in its infancy.
    1. Is there a way I can make iPhoto rescan my image folder? Maybe some script or something that can do it for me?
No. However there are apps out there that can watch that folder for you and execute specific actions on events occurring. You may be able to cook up an Automator action or Folder Action script that will import to iPhoto when a file is added to the Folder. Or use an app like Hazel to do it for you.
Update: I’m not sure what this Lightroom plug-in brings to the party, but it may help.

  • Is Workspace incompatible with Adobe Reader LC?

Reader XI is the standard at my office and is installed as the default PDF handler for most users. We have an issue where one of our users updated to Reader DC, and while they were able to view and fill out a form in Workspace, they were not able to submit it. Is Reader DC incompatible with Workspace?
The form uses the process fields object to submit.

No, it has not been resolved. Right now we are neck deep in developing an LC project so more research on our end has been put on-hold; I posted this here hoping that someone had encountered the same issue, or that perhaps someone from Adobe would see this and could get us the information we need.
For the user in question we had them uninstall DC and reinstall XI. Our agency has a policy of keeping pretty up-to-date with various versions so I know we are going to have to address this further at some point in the near future, but we haven't gotten there yet.

  • IDVD incompatible with Leopard

I recently upgraded to OS 10.5 Leopard and to my surprise iDVD reports that it is incompatible with the version of OS (iLife '05). However when I went to look at buying iLife '08 I find that iMovie has a minimum requirement of G5 processor or greater. So if I upgrade to fix iDVD I will break iMovie (or at the very least I am paying for software I can not use)
So I can't upgrade and I can't go back. I guess the middle ground is iLife '06 but that does not seem to be readily available anywhere and where I did find it they want $99 which is more expensive than iLife '08.
    Anyone got some ideas?

If you purchase iLife 08, you can use the other apps except for iMovie, and you should be able to download iMovie 6 for free. http://support.apple.com/downloads/iMovieHD6

  • How does aperture 2 compare with adobe lightroom?

I realize aperture 2 just came out but feedback from anyone with experience in both aperture 2 & adobe lightroom would be very much appreciated
    Message was edited by: apeOrLr

I own both (Aperture 1.5x) and I can say they both have some very nice features. I prefer working in Aperture when I can. Here are a couple of differences that I think are important.
LightRoom has no support for multiple monitors. This doesn't seem to bother some people, but it drives me nuts. I would love to have my a 1:1 or fit preview open on a second monitor while I'm working. Aperture is great at this. You may want to avoid LightRoom if that sounds like something you would want for your workflow.
Another thing I like in aperture is the highlight recovery looks much nicer to my eye.
Like William Lloyd mentioned there is a lot of pre Aperture 2 vs LR comparisons out there... they may give you a good start. I'm sure lots of folks will be rushing to write up comparisons or 2.0 vs LR soon.
    Good luck!

  • Win7 Incompatible with Adobe Acrobat 6.0

Hello! I have a big question here. Currently I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard software that was normally apply with Windows XP Pro. However, when I upgraded my Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 – I found out Windows 7 has a known issue with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard. As a result, all attempts to install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard were terminated. Now, what I would like to know is, do I have to buy the latest Adobe Acrobat Standard again, or is there a fix to make Acrobat 6.0 Standard compatible with Windows 7? Thanks!
    LESALAKSK

The same is true with VISTA. A few with AA7 have been able to get it to work, but AA8.1.3 was generally required. It appears that for Win7, you need AA9. You may want to wait a bit or search the forum for others' experiences. At this point in time, I do not think that Adobe has certified any AA for Win7. That does not mean they will not run and apparently AA9 has no problems as such, but is just a statement of the status. AA6 will likely not work.

  • HT5043 How do I access the photos in the Aperture 3.4 library with adobe lightroom 4

how do I access photos in Aperture with adobe 4.  Aperture now has a shared library with iphoto

You don't, in a word. Lighroom understands neither the iPhoto nor the Aperture Library. Export the files from iPhoto / Aperture to the Finder and take it from there.

  • Help with Adobe Lightroom, please.

Ok, so I just got Adobe Lightroom, and I've installed it and everything, but every time I go to open it, it asks me for my serial number and all of that. When I put it in and submit it, it just closes out and asks me to do it all over again, and doesn't ever open. It says that I have a valid serial number. Can someone help me through this please?
         Thanks,
              Seb

You haven't mentioned whcih OS you're using, which can often help diagnose problems like this. Nevertheless, this particular problem tends to occur because you're trying to register the application serial number from a User account rather than Admin. Try launching/running as Administrator or a Root user to see if that sorts the problem out.

  • Apple TV - with Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop Elements

With Apple Aperture being phased out and iPhoto being replaced, are the adobe products a good alternative if you use Apple TV for much of your photo viewing?  Of the two Adobe products not sure which is the closest match to being an Aperture alternative. Do any of you have experience using these products in conjunction with Apple TV ?

Neither of the products can publish directly to Apple TV, at present. Apple TV can take photos supplied from a folder, in addition to photos from Aperture, so that may work.
Also, Apple TV can take photos from shared photo streams, but neither of the Adobe products can publish to a photo stream. So it's a bit messy.
Of the two Adobe products, the closest functionality-wise to Aperture is Lightroom. Both products are aimed at the same photo editing set, so it's probably the best replacement.
Going forward, Aperture and iPhoto will be replaced by the Photos app, which should have good cloud integration. My gut is that the best way going forward to get stuff on the Apple TV (it already has a Photos app, as does iOS), will be via the Photos app on OS X. So what I'm planning to do is to take the photos I want to see on Apple TV, and export versions of those from Lightroom and import them (as appropriately sized JPEGs) into Photos. But that's not possible yet.

  • I have a 'Love - Hate' relationship with Adobe Lightroom

Adobe's Lightroom is probably the best software out there for image manipulation, It is, however, just as probably the absolute worst for keeping track of your images.  I ask the questions, as many thousands of others, 'Where have my images gone?' 'Why are my images greyed out?' 'Where has my library gone to?' Isn't it time that Adobe took notice of these same questions that keep arising and doing something to resolve this problem of disappearing images.  Surely you must be sick of reading these same questions being asked so why aren't you using some of the money paid buy customers for the software to correct this nightmare.  If this was a car, it may look and feel good but if it doesn't drive it's useless.
I'm looking at a lightroom work space that isn't showing the words 'Library' or 'Develop'. I click on the folder that I know has my images in and all I see before me are greyed out images. I click on 'Check all' and it remains as dead as the program. I deselect 'Don't import duplicates' and normal service is resumed. Why? Why should such a small item totally disrupt the use of the entire program?  Why can you not build in a warning if this 'Duplicate' facility is switched on?
    mikejduk

I have been using LR since it came out, Version 1, and never lost any images.
You aren't doing something right. LR doesn't indiscriminately delete and or lose images. It is a Database system that catalogs your images. If you have thumbnails that are grayed out and or with a ? Mark that means the program has lost track of that image. That only happens if you moved it using some other program. Deleted it using some other program. Disconnected the external drive the image/s were on.
That same question is posted by people that do not fully understand how LR works and how to use LR properly. If this was a car you would need a Drivers License to operate it which you would first need to pass a test showing you know how to properly operate, drive, a car.
You are in the Import dialog window, Why are you there? Are you importing new images? Have you MOVED images around on your hard drive using a File Manager?
Yes LR thinks the images you are trying to import or duplicates, Copies, of images you already have in the catalog. Are they? Just because an image is grayed out in the Library module doesn't mean you have to import them again. The graying out mean LR can't find that image in the folder it thinks it is in, IE where it was originally when imported. What did you do to make that happen?
I have images going back to 2004 on my computer. LR has never lost any of them. Have I had images display grayed out and with a ? mark? Yes I have. That was because I moved them from one drive or folder to another using a File Manager outside of LR. Once I pointed LR to the new location of those images the ? mark, and gray state, went away.
