IDVD keeps reporting Burn Error #-1
Ok, I've checked previous posts regarding Burn errors, only found one relating to error 1 which said it was due to audio overrun on the movie.
My question is how does this occur when the movie and audio are imported together? The audio has not been extracted and the end of the film has been edited out. (Split video at current frame, and move excess not required out of the timeline)
This has been ongoing now for three weeks. This is what I have done:
1. Imported hi-8 90 min movie from camera thru Canopus ADVC55 into iMovie. (First time this was done got one clip, second time got two clips but first was over 60min, last time I restricted import to max 50min clips). Project is located on my external WD MyDisc reformatted for HFS. Cleared 50Gb of free space from Macintosh startup drive.
2. Added clips to timeline. Saved three frames as JPEG's to use in iDVD menu. No chapter markers, transitions etc. just the raw movie. Saved iMovie project
3. In iDVD created a new project (on Wd drive same directory as iMovie project) set the theme to Scrapbook (V5.0 theme) edited the drop zone to add the JPEGS saved earlier
4. Added the movie file from the Media page and dragged the movie onto the menu.
5. Edited the title on the menu.
6. Save iDVD project
7. Save as Disk Image on WD external drive (same directory as iDVD project)
8 Encodes for 3 hours and comes up with error, haven't managed to catch the change from Encoding movie to encoding audio to see if it gets past this.
9. Repeated exercise using 5 min movie. This worked fine.
10. Trashed iDVD preferences - no effect
11. Trashed iMovie, iDVD and Quicktime - reloaded iMovie and iDVD from installation disks and downloaded Quicktime. Rebooted - no effect.
12. Shut down and reconfigured my set-up. WD HDD was at end of Firewire chain
MAC->USB Hub (2 FW)->Iomega HDD->Lacie d2 DVD writer->WD HDD
to
MAC->USB Hub->Iomega HDD->WD HDD
anything else i can try?
Hi
a. Yes it most often was related to stray audio fragments outside movie duration
but it is a general error so there might be many more origins
b. USB-hubb FW (FireWire connections) Sounds strange to me but might fall back to my ignorance.
I would try to keep as few item connected as possibly and stay away from any form
of Daisy Chaining.
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
• Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match: iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named: com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.

Hello.
I am running PS CS 6 (fully updated) on my new top spec Imac (32Gb RAM, 2Gb video card, 3Tb fusion drive) with OS 10.8.3.
PS runs OK but when formally quitting I get an error message every time advising that PS quit unexpectantly. This is anoying. Any ideas as to how to stop this?Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)? -
ITunes keeps reporting an error
Everytime i try to search for a song it says "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" if your have this problem please write back
I just received a brand new dimension B110 with windows xp. I installed the itunes(ipod) cd that came with Ipod nano. And I tried to browse around the itunes music store for instance and got that = itunes had encountered a problem and needs to close. And I did what somebody posted to do. Go to add remove programs, which is in control panel, and click on itunes (change/remove) and click that the change/remove button too and it will give you two options repair or remove. I clicked repair. And it ran some kind of process . I guess to test it or fix it. I'm using it right now and for the first time out of every time i've tried to browse the store in the last couple of days I'm not getting that error. Thanks.

itunes store is suggesting that computer is not connected to internet, but computer is connected to internet
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Hi all, Can anyone give me advice on this problem ? I have a new LaCie DVD rewriter (Model= LaCie D2 Dual DVD+RW Drive) I have had some success in burning DVD's but keep getting burn errors !!! I have an iMac G4 and I am using Toast 7 Titanium. I have used Verbatim DVD-R and Sony DVD-R and out of about 25 discs,(of each media type), only 5 have burned successfully ! I have tried burning at a slower speed (4x)....... still no joy ! The strange thing is that when I try to burn first thing in the morning, it works fine ????, then as soon as I try again, they repeatedly fail ! Costing me a fortune in wasted blank DVD's !!!!! I tried re-launching the Finder before burning but still consistant errors ! I have re-installed both the LaCie and Toast 7 Titanium twice and the problem still occurs !!!!......... Now I'm close to crazy and can't think of anything else to try to solve the problem ???? any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. With thanks for your time !
iMAC G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8) LaCie D2 Dual DVD+RW Drive / Toast 7 TitaniumHello again ! ......... I think I spoke too soon ! After one successful burn this morning I am now still getting burn errors ? "Buffer Under-Run" at 4x ??? I can't select any slower ? and also a simple "Disc failed to be written"
I have made sure the iMac is not running any other application whilst burning and is not connected to the internet. I am burning from a Video TS folder which I have checked and it is ok. I am creating a Disk Image via DU first then copying to folder in movies then burning via Toast 7 Titanium. This was very successful on my first try this morningwith a great result !
I just can't understand why I can burn one disc ok then get constant errors. The only successful burns I have made have been first thing in the morning when I start up my iMac G4, after that I have repeatedly failed burns. Could this be relevant ? I have also tried re-starting before setting up a burn and shutdown. Still no joy !
Any help or advice you Guys can give would be appreciated. I am slowly losing the will to live !

IDVD 5.0.1 mulitplexing/burning errors
Here goes, my factory installed combo drive broke, so I got a new CD/DVD Burner : (company installed)
Manufacturer: _NEC
Model: _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A
Revision: 1.05
Drive Type: CD-RW/DVD-RW
Disc Burning: Vendor Supported
My iDVD 3 worked once, then would not work, it wouldn't open properly and had to force quit every time.
I asked our IT dept to re-install it. They couldn't find the software re-install disc. Sooo they got out the iLife disc and installed iLife with iDVD 5.0.1.
It won't work either.
When I try to burn a DVD, it proceeds like it is encoding, then at the end, it gives me an error message; Errors in Burning Process. I hit ok then it says: Multiplex Error, problem during multiplexing/burning. I am left with a blank DVD and lots of frustration.
I try to bring up old DVD projects I've previously made with iDVD 3, but it keeps trying to find files that it cannot find. Even though I have all the files saved.
I have Quicktime 7.0 that I installed a while ago and iDVD 3 did fine with those exported files.
I have FCP HD 4.5, I usually export as a Quicktime file, same as source, creating new media (stand alone file). Never had a problem before with iDVD 3 and my old combo drive.
I have Mac OS X (10.3.9). I have 40 Gb available on my start up drive (Mac HD).
As I said before, I sucessfully burned one or 2 discs before iDVD 3 started acting up on me and led me to install iDVD 5.0.1.
Here's my console report from today's attempt:
Contents: Mac OS X Version 10.3.9 (Build 7W98)
2005-10-21 10:13:17 -0700
iDVD: Burn started, Fri Oct 21 10:39:55 2005
iDVD: Burning to DVD-R media with DAO strategy in _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A 1.05 via ATAPI.
iDVD: Requested DVD burn speed was 2x, actual burn speed is 1x.
iDVD: Burn underrun protection is supported, and enabled.
iDVD: Burn failed, Fri Oct 21 10:39:56 2005
iDVD: Burn sense: 5/30/05 Illegal Request, Cannot write medium, incompatible format
iDVD: Burn error: 0x80020022 The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry.
I've read some of the threads on this problem already, with no luck so far.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
JBTI am having a similar problem burning via IDVD 4. However, in my case the Superdrive in the installed original on a year old PowerMac G5. This is the second of two similar FCE projects each 90min. The first burned fine but the second one gets to stage 4 and stalls. The striped progress bar moves but the burning never takes place even after hours. Hitting the cancel button has occasionally given the message "errors were found during the burning process. Logical end-of-file reached during read operation".
I have tried the follwing remedies without success:
1) taping the video back to the camcorder and reimporting it into IMovie. It looked fine even in the IDVD preview but would not burn
2) I did an archive and install of the OS including the ILife apps
Even more perplexing is the fact that a short segment of the project in question burned just fine did a two hour long video saved as a disc image.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thanks, Jay -
IDVD won't burn DVD, keeps showing up with "You Inserted a blank DVD..."
I keep getting the error during the encoding process for burning. The prompt shows up as if i just inserted a new blank DVD, and gives me an encoding video error.
Does anyone know how to prevent this? You can set preferences within apps like roxio toast to automatically launch when Blank dvd media is inserted into your mac / burner. And if this is the case then you may need to address these preferences so they don't overtake iDvd from the start.
Check your preferences for burning a dvd as to which app/s you have selected to perform this function. Perhaps you have another app other than iDvd selected.
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

Like it says in the title...My iDvd will not burn a disc...there is an encoding error that comes up after the title screen.
Here is the process that I have been doing.
1. put in a blank disk and with the project already being done, i hit burn (not too hard).
2. iDvd then starts to encode the title.
3. After the title has been encoded, the burning stops and a message comes up saying "there was an error during encoding" and when ever I try to burn the same message keeps on coming up.
I am running version 7.0.4
any help would be extremely helpfulTry using this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Then you can concentrate on the content if you can't create a disk image of the project.

I keep getting this error message when I (right-click) on a photo file on my desktop to burn to a CD. I don't understand this code...does anyone? Thanks Ariel**: The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x80020000).
I tried every obvious solution to this problem with different types of disc (-R; +R; -RW and +RW) and the problem persisted. Then I read about removing a hyphen in picture filenames. I renamed all the images and bingo there were no further problems. Apple should have solved this by now. This error code has been reported for several years and my MacBook Pro is quite new. Anyway, I hope this helps. It does work.

Why does iDVD keep giving me a multiplexing error and ejects my DVD?
I have tried several times to create a simple movie with iMovie and iDVD. Both are from the iLife 6.0 series. Each time, the movie imports to iDVD okay, goes through all the asset encoding just fine, and when it get to multiplexing and burning, it stops with a message saying there was something wrong with the multiplexing or asset encoding and ejects the DVD. Help. I am at my wits end with this.
dennisHi
Multiplex Error - is one of the most complex error to run into - can be so much
see (especially new info at end of list)
MULTIPLEX ERROR !
Multiplexing error is a very complex problem due to many things (long long list following) - one common but not obvious reason is that material on the iDVD menu goes outside the TV-Safe area (or just touching it).
So first - turn on TV-Safe area and move any object well inside of this.
Wide screen stretched - usually (as I think) it is due to making a 4x3 movie in a 16x9 wide-screen project OR the other way around. This forces one to on flat-screen TV (or other) set the presenting view right - My has 4x3, wide-screen, zoom and auto-wide-screen and I have to switch this by my remote for some DVD I've made "wrong" way.
Now my long long list on Multiplex Error
LONG LONG LONG LIST
Multiplexing Error
PART One.
Use of strange video/audio material e.g. .avi, .wmv, .mp3 etc.
I only use.
Video - StreamingDV (miniDV tape via FireWire) and
Audio - .aiff (as on audio-CDs) (else converted to this .aiff 48KHz)
Photo - .jpg (.bmp known problematic)
Chapters !
A. Using strange letters in video project name e.g. +,/; etc. keep to a-z and 0-9 strange letters in project name e.g. +
as described by Donnyboy69. Does the title of your project have any symbols or decimal points in it. If so, that is why you are getting the error. I had a project that had a + sign which caused the same problem. I renamed it without the symbol and low and behold, it worked.
B. Location of Chapters
• Can’t be at start or end of movie (Skip first/start one - iDVD sets this by it self. At the End - no need)
• Not in a transition (or within 2-3 seconds from it)
Important when from iMovie HD6 or previous - Now also observed when using FCE 4
PART Two.

Simply remember to add subtitles to your Quicktime files and menu buttons.
Once I did that, I was back in business.
from Boise Jim
Do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
I always makes a DiskImage first and test this so that it runs OK
I use only - Verbatim DVDs
I use only - DVD-R
I burn at an as slow speed possibly e.g. x1
This gives good DVDs
PART Three.
Multiplex Error

Back again. Here is what I have found to work. I also have and use a LaCie DVD-R/RW DL external drive and a LaCie external hard drive as well. Since yesterday I have tried a few ways to burn a themed iDVD project having four 56 minute movies on it, amounting to 226 minutes onto a DVD DL disc, capacity 240 minutes. Apple tech support really didn't know what to do but gave me a very good tip. I had two options left. Apple tech support's tip was to try disc image. One of the replies on a thread with this subject said not to, but my experience today is good. Put your project onto "Burn to disc image," under "iDVD, file." Yesterday encoding took me 23 1/2 hours. Overnight for iDVD disc image, encoding took 21 1/2 hours (again) while I slept. This morning I tried to copy/burn disc image to a DVD with Roxio Toast 7, and it stopped near the end of the burn with some kind of "error" message. So then I tried Utilities> Disc Utility> Burn icon, and followed it through. Be sure to click the DVD DL drive in the window "Burn disc in.". I had one other problem though. At the end of a 46 minute copy, it started to verify, and at the end of verify it rejected the burn. So I tried again, and when "verify" appeared, I clicked on "Skip." The disc finished burning and is doing fine and well. A long and tortuous process, but at last something works. I made several additional copies using Disc Utility. Best wishes. Chuck, Chicago.
2. Disconnect any other external devices not absolutely needed.
e.g. external USB/USB2 hard disks, other FW hard disks etc.
3 Chapter marks in transitions - minimum 2 sec from
FROM Bev. (Not a 'guy' but I will answer!)
First, I do not think that mixing wide-screen and standard makes a difference in iDVD.
Second, you should use a better brand of DVD disk. Also, many of us have experienced fewer problems on playback with DVD-R disks. Recommended brands here are Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not consistent and may not give you a correct burn. They apparently have fewer layers in the composition of the disk. I have always used Verbatim DVD-R disks and have not had any burn problems.
Also, choose a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Third, to determine if the iDVD project will burn properly, create a disk image file (from within iDVD, go File->Save as Disk Image) and test it. Mount the disk image and then open DVD Player (in Applications) and view your project. If it plays correctly, you can then burn the actual DVD disk from the disk image file using Disk Utility.

I did everything I've seen suggested, but a friend (who used to be an Apple Genius) suggested that I do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
It worked, and I got a clean burn from iDVD.
Hopefully this can help other people.

Well, I finally got it, and it was odd enough to post here incase anyone looks this topic up again. Many things were tried, including burning the unedited film, the edited film without titles and chapter markers, abbreviating the chapter markers in case length was the issue (remember the old iMovie used to truncate them when moving to iDVD?). In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.
One user more writes
To add my experience with Multiplex Errors using iDVD (7.0.4), I recently created two iDVD projects
Video from both passed from FCE 4.01 with chapters
One project worked fine in creating disk image file
The other gave Multiplex Errors
I tried suggestions to remove special characters and no chapter marks at beginning, but nothing worked
Note that I've used iDVD for dozens of projects and this is first time I've run into Multiplex Errors
Anyway, for problem project, I tried an experiment where I removed all chapters in FCE and passed to new iDVD project
This time multiplex errors gone
So had something to do with chapters
So now I tried numerous experiments to remove individual chapters and try again creating disk image with new iDVD project
After numerous tries, I was able to narrow problem down to 1 "Bad" chapter mark
That is, when I left the "bad" chapter in my FCE project and passed to iDVD, iDVD gave multiplex error
When I removed "bad" chapter mark (and others in), no multiplex error
As a final experiment, I moved "bad" chapter mark about 5-10 sec's beyond original point and passed to iDVD, the multiplex errors now magically went away and I was able to finally create my disk image.
I have no idea why this worked, but thought I'd mention here in case someone else runs into similar problem.

In addition to Bengt's fine advice, burning errors can occur if you have located any of your menu buttons wholly or partly outside of the safe TV viewing area. Go to your main project menu, then click on View/Show TV Safe Area, to check. Drag into the safe viewing area any buttons that are outside the safe viewing area.
Russ One - suggest this
Multiplex Error-There was an error during muxing preparation
One thing that worked for me was to export the video w/o chapter markers as a self contained movie (thereby not loosing the edits & etc). Then make a new FCE project and import that movie into a new sequence and add the chapter markers. I've used "-", "&" and "," with no problem in the chapter names. Removing the markers or exporting without them did solve the problem but renaming them with just numbers 1,2,3....5, did not solve the problem and since this problem seems to happen with with iMovie as well, it would suggest the problem is in the video or audio and in combination with the chapter markers iDVD just can't handle it. The only other possibility is that both iMovie and FCE share the same or similar chapter marker code that some how is corrupting the markers.
Summary - What to try
1. Chapters
• Only A to Z and 0 to 9 in chapter title
• No Chapter mark at very beginning of movie
• No Chapter mark in or within 2 seconds from any transition in movie
2. TV-safe area for buttons (no one outside this)
3. Safe re-boot
4. No other external devices connected - that are not needed
SDMacuser adds to this
• On #4 ... No ext. devices. Some think this applies mainly to ext. FW. Not the case. Also applies to ext. USB2 as well (not to mention flash drives too).
Do not leave 3rd party devices / camera / camcorder plugged in unless it is being used with iDvd's One Step process. Certain web cams can trigger this also (especially ones with added features like LED light/s that draw additional power from the FW or USB bus).
5. Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-up hard disk
6. Make a DiskImage first - reduces where problem originates
7. Trash iDVD pref. file
8. Make a new iDVD project
9. Movies in project with same aspect ratio e.g. 4x3 or 16x9
10. No other programs/applications running during iDVD process. e.g. Internet, screen & energy savers

I've made literally hundreds of DVD's using iDVD and I occasionally get the dreaded "Multiplex Error". In the past changing the position of chapter markers has worked, but sometimes the only way I can get the DVD to burn is to remove all the chapter markers (not a great solution).
Recently, I've discovered a bug in iDVD that creates the "Muliplex Error" message and it may be the cause of some of my previous problems. Sometimes when you export a movie to iDVD with chapters, it will create chapter menus with incredibly long playing times. My most recent "Multiplex Error" project had two chapter menus. I have a 38 second audio clip that I use for my DVD menus and the first menu showed the correct time of 38 seconds (select View>Show Inspector). The second menu with the same audio clip showed 13 minutes and 42 seconds! When I went to the Project Info window (select Project>Project Info) it now showed the total size of my DVD as 4.8 GB, too big for iDVD to encode. So, I manually adjusted the time of the second menu to 38 seconds. This time without changing anything else, iDVD burned the disk perfectly.
The interesting thing is that when I began the burn, the project info showed under 4GB for my disk. So, from now on I'll check the playing times of each menu before I burn.

Can anyone help me get my power book G4 to communicate with my external burner (Lacie d2 DVD +-RW)?
I have spent more time trying to solve this problem than it took to film the digital video I want to burn.
Here is the story in a short form:
* created a movie from imported digital video and sequenced the clips in iMovie 05 and iMovie 06 no extra audio or slides.
* created the needed chapters, titles, and themes in iDVD 05 and iDVD 6.
* computer recognized the external burner (allowed me to start the encoding/burning process). After 4-6 hours of encoding, and 3-5 minutes of disk spinning; the disk is ejected from the drive, and I received the following errors:
“Burning Finished. Errors were found during the burning process the recording device reported the error # 6: Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred. (0x29, 0x00.)”
“Multiplexer Error – There was a problem during multiplexing/burning”
* the ejected disk (DVD + R) contains the menus but no video; (DVD – R) remains blank
The following “fixes” have been attempted with no change:
• run a new smaller movie – burns a movie and chapters fine if under 1 min in total length, but otherwise the error returns
• when I burn the file with Toast, I lose the chapter titles which are crucial to the project
• Reboot
• Create a new movie with a new user
• Ran repair disk permission
• Checked the apple hardware
• Updated the lacie drive
• Installed iDVD 6
• Called apple no real solutions
• Called lacie – confused by the movie creating task
So that sums it up, any real suggestions? I bought apple because simple was preferred, this has turned into anything but simple. In over my head?
power book G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4)
power book G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4)Over,
Welcome to the iDVD discussions.
Let's separate getting your LaCie to work from getting iDVD to work!
Try using "save as disk image" in iDVD. This will create a .img file that you can burn to your LaCie using Disk Utility or Toast or other disk burning software.
If you can create the image, but are still having issues with burning, then we can focus on the hardware/DVD driver end of things, and LaCie won't be confused by the movie making end of things.
Also try making a data DVD in the finder (or using Toast or Toast Lite). Does this work OK?

IDVD 08 quits and reports "Formatting error"
I've made new DVDs since installing 08 and carried forward older projects, but today both projects report "formatting error" when they reach some point in the burn. Any suggestions? Thanks.
JFTQuestion #1: What is the source of this movie? Is it from a minidv camera via firewire? ..... USB 2? ...... or something else?
Most of the time updates and most upgrades proceed rather smoothly when it comes to apple's i-apps / software (But not always). I prefer never to update in the middle of a project. I'll often wait, finish the project with the older version, and then update.
Question # 2: Have you already tried exporting as a QT movie / file and then over to iDvd? -
"Drive Reported an Error" message when burning a DVD+RW
Hi, all!
I am trying to burn a rewritable DVD, HP DVD+RW on my Matshita R UJ 857E and each time I try I always get the following message:
*Drive Reported an Error:*
*Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR*
*Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03*
This happens with a few RW DVD disks that I tried to burn. The disks are HP disks and they work correctly on a PC.
Please, advise!

Hi All
I'm also having problems burning DVDs on my MacBook Pro, no problems buring CDs.
Each time I try to burn a DVD the disc is ejected, often during finishing, and 'medium write error'is displayed. I have tried different media and varying speeds but with no success, Suggestions?
After reading and testing a lot, I am convinced this is a DVD ROM problem. I believe, MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E has some problems with some brands DVD+R discs.
I simply cannot figure out what is the reason to go on using those dvd roms in MakBooks after so many problems reported...

I updated my itunes this morning, and now I keep getting an error message when trying to burn a disc. Any ideas how to resolve this?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
