Idvd menu - don't want one!

I've been looking for an answer all day without any luck. Maybe someone can help me..pleeeze. I'm trying to burn a dvd of several short videos without a menu. I just want the dvd to stop after each video and then advance to the next one when I press play on the player. Is this possible on idvd? I don't want a silly theme or menu. If not, what software out there can help me. Someone told me Toast, but that only burns and copies. if you can please help me.

Welcome to apple discussions. Just so you are aware, Toast does much more than what you pointed out above.
But if you wish to stay with iDvd as an Autostart Dvd then consider using a manual advance slideshow w/in iDvd (btw, the slideshow feature works great for both photos and movies; and especially shorter movies).
Once you've completed your manual advance slideshow (which also contains all your short movies) then go to Map View and drag and drop said slideshow to the very first/top box. Don't forget to use the loop feature as shown below so that you are not confronted later with a menu at the end of your presentation. Essentially the menu is hidden from your audience and your dvd will now play in Kiosk Mode w/o returning to a menu.

If you don't have an icloud account, then icloud is not the thing that's popping up a window.
If you are being asked to enter a password when accessing itunes, then the problem may be that you have purchased items (apps, songs, etc) on the device that were purchased using a different itunes account than the one you currently have defined on your device.
Purchased items are forever associated with the itunes account (the apple ID) that was used to make the purchase. If you change the ID on the device, you won't be able to update any of them. You'll have to purchase them again.

Premiere Elements 10: Disc Menu when I don't want one ...?

Somehow when working on the current project, I accidentally got a Disc Menu. I don't actually want one for the first time out, this is not the final version, I just wanted an auto-play video for now. I will eventually want a menu, but ... is there a way to turn that off?

Need high quality compression for iDVD but don't want letterbox

I have a FCE project which has moving stills, lots of titling and graphics (from Photoshop) and want a high quality compression to get rid of the interlacing, etc. I need to get this to iDVD.
If I export as quicktime, it's just ok quality. If I use Sorenson or Animation (as recommended by the Apple creatives), the resulting project looks great but I have letterboxing on the top/bottom in iDVD, which I don't want. I'm using a 4:3 aspect ratio and my FCE project is 720x480.
What am I doing wrong? I don't have the "preserve aspect using letterbox" checked but get the letter box anyway. (I tried it with this and have a thicker letterbox!)

If the material is 4:3 edited in a 4:3 there is no reason for iDVD to letterbox it, unless the iDVD preferences are set to widescreen.
It's hard to tell where you're going wrong because there are so many variables along the way, and you haven't spelled out what you're doing, format, frame sizes, export settings, etc.
Whoever told you to export to Sorenson or Animation is completely wrong. You should export to QuickTime Movie. iDVD only accept a couple of formats DV material and HDV in Apple Intermediate Codec, and HD is always widescreen. The HDV 720p format has no interlacing. These formats export from FCE with interlacing unless you switch it off in FCE. You can do this in Item Properties for the sequence. Set the Field Dominance to None.

Iweb ftp problem - adding a folder where I don't want one

Hi,
I'd like to use iweb to upload directly to a web site.
I have put in the same ftp details as work in dreamweaver but it creates a file that appears to be the site name. I've named the site the same as my URL, so the 'welcome' page becomes something like:
www. myurl. co. uk /myurl/ welcome.html
(ive added the spaces to the example to stop it becoming a hyperlink, but you get the idea)
Am I doing something daft? Is there any way to not add this extra folder? My URL is already quite long.
At present I'm creating the site in Iweb, piublishing to a folder on my mac, opening dreamweaver and loading from there. I'm sure it should be easier that that!

It is perfectly normal for iWeb to do this and no, you are doing nothing wrong.
Re-name your site and don't use your url for the name of your site - change it to something shorter.
If you want to upload your site without the site folder, then download Cyberduck and upload ONLY the contents of your site folder and not the whole folder itself.
You can do this using Cyberduck or continue to use Dreamweaver. There is no other way to avoid this really except using either of these two to upload. That's it. You can't do this using iWeb ftp.

I have recently purchased an iTunes gift card to make purchases in my favorite game but for some reason I can't make in app purchases. Someone said that I have to have a credit card but I don't want one of those. Can someone help?

I have reset the app, I have deleted the app and downloaded again, I have turned my ipod off and on, I have made sure all updates are up to date and nothing has changed. I saw a similar question like mine and the answer was that you have to have a credit card linked to your iTunes account to make in app purchases and I was thinking they were right until I talked to a few friends who cancelled their credit cards and took them off of the account and can still make in app purchases so that can't be the issues. Can someone please help me this is driving me crazy I have talked to iTunes support but they weren't much support.

Bug? iTunes forced me to encrypt backup - I don't want this. How can I stop it?

It's all in the title really...
When I just did the latest sync of my wife's phone, iTunes insisted that the backup needs to be encrypted. I looked down, the option is unchecked. It has never been checked. I unplugged the phone. I shutdown itunes and rebooted. But when I plugged her phone in again, it again has said I MUST encrypt this backup. Why have I never needed to do this before? Why has apple decided I must do this now?
So reluctantly I put a password on it, thinking that once it's on, I can uncheck it later.... nope...
So I enter a password, which I REALLY don't want to do.
I sync, backup complete... The encryption option is now dulled, I can't uncheck it...
Changing the password does nothing to remove it because you can't leave the new password blank.
I have not forgot my password, I just don't want one.
and please, no suggestions or comments that I should encrypt them all, it's up to me. I just don't want it for either of our phones!
edit: and now it's done it to my phone too... This is BS...

Ok, I'm back home now, and I've uninstalled the profile that was required by the M1 carrier in Singapore (free plug). Doing this has allowed me to make an unencrypted backup of my phone! YAY!!!
It has also allowed me the option of UNCHECKING the encryption option on my wife's phone...
As you can see, I can uncheck it, and it gives me an option to enter the password to UNLOCK the encryption.
This has now been done and encryption removed!!!
Message was edited by: iMadivad - in trying to unlock the backup, I initially used the wrong password. I had actually put the innitial password in incorrectly. It took quite a few goes at getting it right, I had mistyped a double character sequence. I had at least 10 goes at getting this right, it appears there's no limit to the number of times you can try and get the password right - I suppose, this is why there are brute force attacks on unlocking this file out there.

Don't want WebDav System Authentication window to appear.

I've just upgraded my iMac G5 to OS 10.4.9. I don't have a .mac account and don't want one at this time. However, a window keeps popping up while I'm working on the desktop saying, "WebDAV system authentication problem" and asking for a password to log on to an iDisk account. How can I disable that window?

Here's part of what I see in Console. Don't know how to interpret this data. Only can see that the window appears to pop up at 10 minute intervals and is cancelled by me. This is new territory for me.

Why am I FORCED to accept updates I don't want ?

I don't always want to update certain programs (Apps).
There is this little "nag" screen that pops up every day asking me about updates.
However, today it looks different. It says to install these updates, Restart your Mac.
I don't want one of the updates. What can I do to prevent this update from being installed when I restart my Mac ?

You are NOT forced to accept updates you do not want.
, System Preferences, click on the App Store icon (4th row down, likely the 3rd icon from the left)
Uncheck all of the things you do NOT want your Mac to do when updates are available, then close System Preferences.
Restart your system to be certain that your new preferences take effect immediately.

Look folks I don't want to down load a mobile browser for any phone so would please stop trying to foce it down my throat.

all I have is a track-phone I don't have any fancy I-pad or Android phone don't want one I don't text anyone I don't use the internet all I use it for is to call home before I leave from work for a grocery list.
and every time you try to download that browser onto my PC I have one hell of a time to get Firefox to load onto my PC.

Don't Want Menu @ Start - How To Delete?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum...my iDVD is 7.0.4.
Anyway, I'm trying to get a movie ready to burn onto DVD. I don't want any kind of theme or menu at the beginning. I have tried several times to delete the menu and can't. I have also looked up how to get rid of the menu on apple.com in the iDVD tutorials. That says to set the DVD for autoplay and loop the movie. I did this, but when it's rendering, I can see in the little preview box that it's adding on the default menu at the beginning. Any ideas on how to simply burn the movie I created in iMovie without all the extra themes and menus?

True. This is the best way to make a no theme dvd that is virtually invisible to the end user / when the dvd is first inserted into most set top dvd players. However one can still see a menu if the menu function/key on the remote control were to be selected. Keep in mind themes and menus do add playback stability (especially upon initial playback / when the dvd is first inserted into the dvd player).
If you truly wish to make a dvd that is completely menu free, then the only way I am aware is to make a One Step directly from the camcorder or from a QT movie /file on the mac's desktop like this:

How do I get my imovie to be burnt onto dvd without having Idvd's themes?

In iDVD it's not exactly possible to make a DVD without menu, but there's a few workarounds:
1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme"by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
On the other hand, you could also place a text saying "The End" in that menu ....
3. Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just un-check the appropriate check box
4. The "hard way": postproduction with myDVDedit
Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
• create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
• Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
• Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
• Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
• Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
• Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned.If it works save and close myDVDedit.
• Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:

I am currently making various instructional videos for a company and I want to fit 4 separate imovies that are chapter-marked under 1 idvd menu so I can fit this in 1 Dual layer DVD . Any answer can help. Thanks

I asssumed he was using the 'Export from iMovie' approach that only gives you a way to add one movie to an iDVD project.
