IDVD Menu Themes

the themes with iDVD are really quite limited with what you can do. They are fine templates, but I would like to create my own. the best one for me is the transparent black as I often use black backgrounds. But, I would like to be able to get rid of the black band across the bottom for when I actually have pictures for the menu rather than the black I typically use. anybody have any ideas? I have tried all the other themes and they all have drop zones or other transparent bandings that I don't want. Are there other themes I can download now which may resolve this issue?
thanks in advance!!

That's it from Apple.

  • Can I use an iDVD menu theme w/ toast 7.0 video content?

    Hi:
I am fairly new to making DVD’s. I recently had some super-8 movies converted to iDV format. I imported the footage into iMovie and was able to align an existing soundtrack and get everything exactly the way I wanted it. When I converted the movie to a best-quality QuickTime movie, it looked great too! However, when I tried to burn a DVD on iDVD with this same QuickTime file (not using the 'Share' button), the movie came out very pixilated during scenes with any motion whatsoever.
However, using toast 7.0, a dvd I made looked quite excellent in comparison, using the same QuickTime file.
My question: would it be possible to use the nice-looking toast 7.0 conversion of the video file in iDVD so I can use one of the themes I like in iDVD? What I would like is one of the older iDVD themes where the menu has a projector showing some clips on a screen.
I am wondering if this would somehow be possible by burning a disc image and swapping the video data. I appreciated any response from a knowledgeable source. I suppose I could just use the toast program without the theme I like as a worst-case scenario.
    Thanks!,

What I always do is first edit the movie as you do in iMovie. Then pass it to iDVD to add the menus etc. Then I always press 'save as a disc image' which puts a rendered file on your desk top. Then when ever I want to put that film on to DVD I just drag that image into Toast and that puts a copy on DVD. I'm not sure why you need at any time to convert to quicktime.
ps. - 'Save as disc image' is under file in iDVD.
I think this is what you are looking for. Sorry if I have mis-understood the question.

  • IDVD Menu / Theme not working on TV

Hi, Have been burning DVD from iDVD but when used on DVD player (not comp) the menu does not come up first and I cannot navigate to it; but I can play the iPhoto slideshow movie on the DVD player and the menu is there when played on Mac? I have tried on a new (ish) Philips DVD Player / Recorder and an older (non-region) Panasonic DVD player. What am I doing wrong!? Any ideas? Thanks.

I'd like to steer you away from TDK and Memorex. They have bad track records here, and my friend will never use TDK again.
I hate to keep "harping" on this, but Verbatim has been my most reliable. They even make a special grade for medical records:

  • IDVD, dvd menu themes

Hi, does anyone know if the iDVD menu themes can be use for commercial purposes?

The ELA used to be more specific about iDVD themes; now it seems to concentrate on the music.

  • Idvd '08 themes in idvd 6?

Is it possible to get idvd 08 themes (particularly Revolution) in idvd6
    thanks!

I am looking to do this myself - you may have heard that iDVD 08 has problems with encoding films more than 60 minutes in length - the audio goes out of sync towards the end of the film, no matter whether you send the film from imovie, final cut pro, or simply just import a qt file. I myself am doing a wedding video of over two hours in length, and the menu 'forever' in idvd 08 is perfect, so I am going to try and use this in '06, which burns the movie perfectly with no audio problems.
I'm going to drag the theme from the 08 folder in application support/idvd/themes and place it inside the same folder for idvd 06 on a mac book pro. Hopefully this will work. Let me know if you have any other successful method, or if anyone knows a way to fix that audio problem in'08 I'd love to hear from them!!!

  • Question iDVD menu plan

Hello, how to avoid to start to read a video from the video itself but from the MENU (theme), please ?

    You must have the video set to to auto start.  Click on the Map button at the bottom and see if the video is in the blue autostart bin at the far left;
If your video is shown in the blue bin drag it out. That will make the iDVD project display the menu until the viewer clicks on the video button in the menu.

  • IDVD 4 themes

I have iDVD 5 but I have a project that used iDVD 4 themes which I did before I sold iLife '04. Is there any website where I can download those themes. I know I can use them with iDVD 5 because I copied iDVD 3 themes into idvd 5.
    Thanks for any help!

iDVD '05 HAS the '04 themes. From the theme pane, there is a popup menu that allows you to select the themes you want to see. Hit it, and you will see '04 themes, '05 themes, Old Themes.

  • IDVD widescreen themes

    Hi,
I just created a widescreen project.
The movie was shot in 16:9 modus (panasonic nv-gs400), imovie was used to edit and iDVD 6 was used for DVD-authoring, using widescreen themes
    * On a normal 4:3 TV-set, there is letterboxing of the movie but the iDVD-opening theme does not. Is that normal behavior?
I did a 16:9 project with DVD SP2 and the opening theme is leterboxed on a 4:3 TV.
    * On a 16:9 flatscreen TV, on the left and right side , there is some shopping off. How would one explain that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frank

I discovered the fix to get Widescreen themes working. I copied the themes from an older iMac that had iDVD 7.0.4 from the 'iDVD 6' and 'iDVD 7' folders in this path ~/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes into those same folders on my new iMac. All the widescreen themes are now working. These new themes are also much larger (usually 1Mb or more) than the the ones I replaced which were less than 100K.
This solved another problem: when I burn a DVD the menu/title screens looks fine where previously they green screens.

  • Image size and dpi for iDVD menu custom background?

I created a custom background for my iDVD menu. When showing
on my TV, part of the words and image is cut off on each side, even after adjusting my tv picture between wide screen and standard screen.
What is the correct size and dpi to make a photograph to use as a background
image in the menus? This may have been answered before, so I apologize for posting the same question, if so.

iDVD will try to downsize the image to work, but your TV often will overscan with the result being edges clipped off. The amount of clipping can vary, so the "TV Safe" settings will typically be the center 80-90% of the image. So, if you add a border that makes the image 10-15% larger, that should display the whole image. For example, if you had a 150 dpi image that was 640x480, you could put a 10% border on it so the final image was 704x528.

  • Is there a way to get my iDVD Menu to the beginning of my movie on the DVD?

Is there a way to get my iDVD Menu to the beginning of my movie on the DVD?

Go into the Map mode and make sure there are no items in the far left hand bin.
If there is something in that bin drag it out, save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.  To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Disc Menu theme and duration of audio file

    Hi,
I've downloaded the Disc Menu Theme "Christmas" into my Premiere Elements 12 project.
In this menu I want a song to play in the background, so I imported the song into the Audio part of Menu Background adjustments.
However, the duration is not possible to adjust. It's "stuck" on 13 seconds.
Is this duration set by the menu theme or is it possible to adjust it in any other way?

    Trond Skarpeid
This is not a problem specific to Premiere Elements 12 and all menus.
The problem that you have is related to how the Christmas background in the  main menu .psd file was created. Its creation is based on a video file with the duration of 13.4 seconds, not a still image.
Your answer could be to replace the original video being used with one that has a duration of 29.29 seconds or to take the original video and extend its duration from 13.4 seconds to 29.29 seconds.
Your target is the christmas_w_mm_bg.mpg or christmas_hd_mm.bg.mpg file in the Christmas Folder in the route

    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
    Online
    DVD Templates

The file duration can be altered in Premiere Elements and exported as Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG PAL whether you are NTSC or PAL based.
More details later today if you are interested.
This is an easy one to fix.
Please let us know the outcome.

  • I downloaded the Valentines Day DVD menu theme in Adobe Premiere Elements 11, but won't work

It's downloaded but it won't set everything up like the other DVD menu themes when you click on them. Why is this happening?

    pnasty09
Thanks for the reply. How many of the other themes have you tried so that you know it is just this one theme that has a problem?
Assuming that your Premiere Elements 11 is on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer, let us try deleting the Premiere Elements 11 settings file which is named Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs.
    With Premiere Elements 11 closed,
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 11.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. In order to see the complete path cited above, be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active.
    Thanks.

  • How to lift a segment of a song for iDVD menu

how to lift a segment of a song for iDVD menu
I do not want to lop off the end-- I want to lift a middle segment of a piece of music and loop it on the menu page for iDVD
    Help?

Try adjusting the start and end point in iTunes Info window for that particular track:
However, before committing to a disk burn save it as a Disk Image and play it with DVD Player to make sure the edit in iTunes was carried out in the final product.  It doesn't in some instances.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
