IDVD not competing the burn

I am having a problem with my iDVD, it will do the rendering (most of the time) and when it comes time to burn, it will spit out the disc when it says about a minute to go and it will not have anything on it.  Ideas?
This happened about 4 months ago and then randomly started working about 1 month ago, now the problem is back again.
Thanks for the help.

Yes iDVD 7.0.4 is OLD (should be 7.1.2) - use Program Up-date (under Apple menu top left hand corner of screen and down to step 2)
To use Apple Disk Util tool - I do
• Put .img file (just prepared) on DeskTop/Finder to be easy to locate
• I use to double click on it to unfold the simulated DVD - and if DVD-player starts - Close DVD-Player
• Start Disk Util tool
(DO NOT INSERT ANY BLANK DVD - Until Asked to do so - or You get a Data-DVD - not the Video-DVD You want)
• To the left You see Your Hard Disk - but also (down) the .img file (select this) - higher up You see a Burn-DVD icon (looking like a yellow radiation hazard sign). Click on this.
• Now You get a window asking for a Blank DVD
• NOW - SET BURN SPEED to x2
• Now first - click on BURN.
Done.
If this step FAILS then
• Use a Cleaning DVD (with brushes - NO liquid)
Still not working
• I would go to an Apple Store to get the DVD-burner controlled - they can go bad - especially if one burn more than three  DVDs in a row without letting it cool down for 20-30 minutes (I now always do)
GOOD LUCK

  • Why don't pictures from a slideshow made in iPhoto and then burned on to a DVD in iDVD not use the full screen?

Why don't pictures from a slideshow made in iPhoto and then burned on to a DVD in iDVD not use the full screen?

All I want to do is send my family the pictures for them to be able to see them on most dvds and use manually control.
If you want set top DVD player playback, I suggest you create a a series of slideshows IN iDVD that each contain a MAXIMUM of 99 images. Do not create the slideshow in iPhoto or iMovie.
Is there an easier way to do this, bypassing iDVD?
Some DVD players will play a disc containing jpeg images

I could not find the "burn tool" in Photoshop 7, so I purchased Photoshop Elements 12, and I still cannot find the "burn tool".
Does the "burn tool" still exist? If so, where is it???
    Thanks

Well, as I always say... If I want things done right, I have to do them myself.
I found the solution on the Internet... One must place your pointer on the icon that is presently showing and then press the letter "o" key to toggle between the Burn, Dodge, and Sponge tools.

  • Idvd not capturing the ken burns or full picture view.

I am making a memorial video and have ken burns that are acutallly cutting out the focused object rather than zooming. I tried to burn standard and widescreen and nothing is correcting. Please advise

Q: ken burns that are acutallly cutting out the focused object rather than zooming.
A: Did you manually set / adjust the Zoom while using Ken Burns effect? (see links below to see how to perform this). Also apple's tutorials are worth watching for iPhoto, iMovie, and iDvd if you haven't yet done so.

  • Please help. I do not have the "burn playlist option when I am on itunes. I have a playlist, but no matter what I do, I can not figure out how to burn it. There are no burn options anywhere

I can not burn my playlist. Everyone keeps talking about this magic "burn playlist, or "burn cd option, but I can not find it anywhere. I have a playlist ready to go and a cd in, and ready to burn. I am at a loss for what I am not doing, or missing. Please help

Those are the instructions for your computer's iTunes (i.e. using the Store menu at the top of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'View My Account' on it). If you are doing it on your iPad then are you following the instructions for iOS devices :
    To unhide your purchases
Depending on the content type, open the App Store, iBooks, or iTunes Store on your device.
Scroll to the bottom of the main page.
If you're not already signed in, tap Sign In.
Tap your Apple ID name, then tap View Account.
Scroll down on the Account pane, and tap Hidden Purchases.
Locate the item you would like to unhide then tap the Unhide button.

  • Premiere Elements 10 will not burn a DVD. It stays at 99 percent and will not complete the burn.

New HP 1107c. Cannot burn a DVD with Premire Elements 10 64 bit. Works OK on a 64 bit Dell. Could this be a DVD hardware problem ? Turned off all Microsoft services via msconfig, disabled virus and spyware software, but still hangs at 99 percent burn

  • IDVD not using the full CPU power

    Hi,
I'm making some DVD from iMovie made videos.
I'm surprised that iDVD is only using 50-60% of the available CPU.
I can see it with XRG (http://www.gauchosoft.com/Software/X%20Resource%20Graph/)
It's quite strange because it should be way much faster if it used all the power !

... mouse, keyboard, display, file management, audio, background tasks, ...?
your Mac comes with "Activity Monitor.app" (no 3rd party tools needed...), it shows what happens, when you think, your Mac does nothing....
UNIX is a multitasking, multithread operating system... it "decides" on its own, how much "power" an app is allowed to use... in case, your firm with UNIX and command lines, you can give via Terminal the app a higher "level" ...

  • Everytime I try to burn an iMovie project to a DVD with iDVD, the disc is ejected during the Burning and Multiplexing phase before it's completed.

For months I have been unable to burn any iMovie project to a DVD using iDVD.  During the Burning and Multiplexing phase the disc is ejected before it's complete.  I went the Genius Bar and after many tests I was told that my disc drive was pretty much dead.  The person that helped recommended that I buy an external DVD burner from amazon.  I bought the new drive and I can now burn files, but I'm still encountering the same issue burning a movie.  Does anyone have any idea what'g going on?  I'm extremely frustrated at this point!

Read this treatise on Multiplexing by  Bengt Wärleby: HT1645 I was burning a DVD and the...: Apple Support Communities.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

There is no proper substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?

    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Burning not allowed in iDVD, Size is the problem?

Im workin on my iMac iCore 5 with iDVD 7.1.2 and Leopard OS 10.6.8. Try to finish a project with two .mp4 files below 3.05 Gb but when I try to burn it out, it tells me Im exceding the maximum size to work with. Im using 4.7 DVD R discs. What is the problem?. What files do it accept?, Can I use .mp4  or should convert to another format?.

Actually in contrast to popular belief size is not important as far as iDVD is concerned.  It's playing time that is important.  With a single layer DVD-R disk you can have up to 120 minutes (including menus) on a disk.  If you have more than 60 minutes of playing time you should use Professional Quality encoding. If the playing time is less than 60 minutes use High Quality.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
