IDVD not in Applications Folder

I want to make quick a DVD. .. but can not find the iDVD! even spotlight does not show it. This is on my Mac Pro.
On my Mac Book Pro i have it....?? Using on both computers Snow Leopard.
What did I do wrong on the Mac pro? i put installation disk in, but can not find iDVD. Will I need to install the whole sys again?

But where is it?
I have iDVD on my MBP, but not on MP.
I never had an iLife disk for the MBP.
I remember, I had it installed before on the MB.
Now I want to use it, I can not find it. I have iphoto and ichat but not iDVD. I have FCP, but Dvd Studio pro is too complicated to learn just for a simple dvd.

  • IDVD vanished from applications folder unable to locate in sytem.

IDVD has completely disappeared from all applications, no where to be found. I was making an Imovie and sending it to IDVD to burn as it was complete. I have a strange icon that seems to have appeared it's called DigiHubDics.prefpane, not sure what this icon is and what it means. It's seems to have poped up when IDVD vanished. Unable to send movie IDVD as it apparently is not there where can it be?

    Hi retirement65
And welcome to apple discussions. Unless you intentionally deleted the iDvd app with something like AppDelete; then it's likely still located on your HD. I'm assuming you already searched your applications folder but can't find it. Is this correct?
Are you the sole user of your mac? or do others use or have access to it? if it's the latter, then is it possible someone may have moved this app to another location or folder? (you might want to check the trash).
Or .... It's possible you (or another user) may have inadvertently chosen to have an alternate app burn your dvd's and hence it may be overtaking your iDvd app. If this is the cause, open up System pref's > accounts > login items
Hope the above helps but if not just come on back.

  • App Not In Applications folder, but App Store says it's installed.

Anybody have any ideas on this?
One of my apps is missing from my Applications folder, so I went into the app store to try to re-download it, however the application store says the App in question is installed...
There is a 'free' version of the same app in the app store, so I decided to try downloading it, which works, but again the full version of the App is still missing...

    Neither of these ideas apply...
Prior to exausting everything I could think of, the free version was not installed, and in fact had never been 'purchased' (it did not show up in my purchases list, and the button on it read 'free' instead of 'install')...
The first thing I did was a spotlight search for JPEGmini, with no results comming up.
I then went into the App Store which is when I found that it was reported as installed.
I proceeded to use the Terminal app to try and determine if a hidden flag had been set on the app in the Applciatons folder (rendering it present but invisible), but was able to confirm there was no applicable hidden item...
It was then that I 'bought' and downloade the free version, just to see if it would work.  It worked as expected, and even upon deleting the app the 'INSTALLED' indicator in the App Store went back to an 'INSTALL' button...
I've since removed the free version but am still unable to install the full version...

  • Mail icon is missing from Dock and not in Applications folder.  What to do?

My email icon disappeared from my dock when I turned off my computer.  In the past I go to the Applications folder and just drag the Mail application to the dock and I am good to go.  Now my Mail program is no longer in my Application folder.  Is there a site I can go to and download the Mail application for MacBook?  I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8
    Thanks!

I actually found the System disk and reinstalled all of the Applications (including Mail), but when I went to open it, it said "this version of Mail does not work with the Operating System (Mac OS X 10.5.8).  What now?!
    Thanks.

  • Deleting applications not in applications folder

I have download a small program called TVU player and wish to delete it but it is not in the applications folder where I could simply drag it to the trash but it seems spread around. It seems to be mostly in User/shared/TVU networks. How can I safely delete it?

According to the package, it installs in a tvutuneworks folder in the Applications folder and a webplugin in the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder. There is also a library added to support tcl in sqlite, but you can leave that alone.
If you say the tvutuneworks folder was in your Shared folder, that is likely because you chose the Shared folder as the install location.

  • IPhoto not in applications folder

Hi, my iPhoto and my iMovie both have question marks over each icon on the dock. I've tried finding it in the trash, applications folder, and spotlight. No luck! I can't find it and I'm not sure how to. I don't want to lose my photos, please help. Thanks!

Just to put your mind at ease your photos are not physically associated with the iPhoto application. They are located within the iPhoto Library which is in your Pictures folder. Once you reinstall iPhoto, run all of the updaters you will be able to view your photos again.
HOWEVER, give serious thought to Larry's suggestion about backing up. That is if you value your photos.
    OT
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Avoid users to run applications not in "Applications" folder

    Hi,
I am looking for a solution to avoid users (they do not have admin rights and they are AD accounts) to run applications they download from the web.
If they download a dmg file they can run the application (app file) inside the dmg without having to install it.
For security reasons, I would like to stop that.
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Nicky

Is one of the Application folders in your Home folder and one in the root level (/Applications) of your drive. Usually, Applications are installed to /Applications, not in Users/yourname/Applications.
Or, is it a subfolder of your Applications folder? In other words /Applications/Applications.
First let's copy those folders to removable media for safety, if you don't already have a backup.
Either way you need to check carefully which Applications are real and which are alias. The is an arrow icon on aliases and when you "Get Info" (command - i) or just Preview in Finder, the "kind" will be "alias". Round up the "real" Apps and put them in /Applications. When all are copied into Applications, delete Users/yourname/Applications.

  • Acrobat not in application folder

I recently upgraded from a trial version of creative cloud to a educators subscription.  I uninstalled the applications that were already on my computer.  Then, I redownloaded creative cloud.  I can now not see adobe acrobat in the application folder although it shows as downladed and updated in the creative cloud window. Any suggestions how to get this sorted out?

  • Installed third party applications not showing Application folder?

    Hi,
i've installed third party application outside from AppStore. i chosen "Anywhere" option on Gate keeper. however its not proper installation process hence how can i install? if i install third party application which is get .DMG file from some one else and installed. if i install those application its not displaying inside the Application folder on my Mac OS X 10.8.3.
    Please anyone suggest me,
    Thanks in Advance,
    Suresh Balakrishnan.

if i double click on Xcode icon, Xcode application lauched immediatly. however Xcode is not there in the Application folder.
Because you didn't drag and drop copy the app into the Applications folder, so your running it from the DMG instead.
A DMG is basically a disk image volume, like any other seperate hardware volume like a USB thumb drive, a external hard drive, or another partition, except it's virtual and based all in software.
If you don't know your way around a computer you shouldn't be using Xcode to begin with.

  • Update Lightroom 5 to CC, app not in applications folder

I have a photographer package and try to updated Lightroom 5 to CC now two times but can't find the app in the applications folder on my computer...

if you updated (actually upgraded) to lr cc (2015), it won't be in the lr 5 directory.  lr 5 is not removed with that upgrade so that's your (now) older version.
check applications>adobe>lightroom cc directory or order your directories by creation date to easily find the most recently created applications>adobe subdirectory.

  • Applications not in application folder?

So i installed parallels Desktop onto my system, and when it installed my applications folder (home-> applications) only showed the windows 8 applications. I have recently uninstalled parallels, but my application folder now doesn't show anything!! I was wondering if there was a way to get them back?? My applications are still in the launchpad, and if i click the applications icon in my sidebar in the finder i can see all my applications. Thanks

You said that only Windows 8 applications were there. As you removed Parallels, you canoot open the Windows virtual machine you probably had, so you cannot see the applications again.
If you want to move applications you use in OS X to that folder, do it only with applications you downloaded from the Internet. You will have problems if you do it with system apps
