IDVD not recognizing chapters created in QT Pro

Due to limitations in iMovie i create my movies from jpegs in iPhoto and then add chapter markers in QT Pro using Apple scripts. Suddenly iDVD (4.0.1) is not recognizing the chapters and in scene selection only shows 'Start' and 'Start 2', not all the chapters I've created and their names.
I think this happened to me once before in the past year or 2. There was a new version of QT Pro that was not working 100% with the Apple Scripts for adding chapters and someone on a forum rewrote the "add chapter at current time" script which solved my problem. Was it anyone on this forum? To clarify the chapters show in QT but not in iDVD.
If anyone has any ideas i'd be grateful. Thank you.

  • IDVD does not recognise chapters added in Quicktime Pro

I bought Quicktime Pro in order to add chapters to my DV file, using the instructions provided by Apple.
When I then inport this file in iDVD 08, the chapters are not recognised, and no submenu is created. When previewing the file in iDVD however, the chapters do appear. How can I get it to recognise the chapters and create the submenu? I don't want to have to buy additional software if possible.
    Thanks,

    Ziatron,
Thank you for that information. I agree about having the chapter markers. I'm desperately trying to figure out a way to do it without trashing all the work I've done so far.
I read in the discussion/support groups that when moving an iMovie 06 project to iDVD 08, you lose titles, still images and music. Is that true in your experience? If so -- I would essentially lose all my work since I make movies out of still photos with only a few video clips imposed here and there.
I've also read that you can put chapters in by exporting the iMovie08 project to Garbage Band. But -- then I read that you can lose your audio and that quality is severely impacted in iDVD using this approach.
If I use iMovie06, it appears that I will have to recreate my entire project, since it won't recognize my iMovie08 project (at least as far as I've been able to figure out). I've spent literally days and nights on it - selecting out of thousands of photos, doing Ken Burns effects, selecting music, etc.
I might test a small movie using iMovie HD 06 to see how it goes with photos -- and will use it in the future if that works.
I've spent the morning trying to find answers to the problem with the Scene Selection option in iDVD08. I just can't figure out why it's not working! It's great on the computer preview, but just doesn't work when burned or through disk image tests. Each time I burn (disk or image) it takes three hours -- so way frustrating.

  • 802.11ac not recognized on Windows 8.1 Pro under Boot Camp.

I just installed Windows 8.1 Pro under Boot Camp. The issue I am having is that the 802.11ac network is not recognized in Windows. Windows only recohnizes the 802.11n network. When I boot up OSX Yosemite, It works as usual. Anyone else have this problem?

8/8.1 will install fine but there's some stuff you need to do before starting to ensure no issues
    purchase a retail 8/8.1 license
use only a USB2 flash drive
    get a clean 8 or 8.1 ISO
newer machines are more selective with the ISO for some reason (ISOs that worked to install Windows on many different older Macs would not work)
if you've made lots of changes, hacks and adjustments trying to get this work on your own, you should clean install OSX first, do not restore from time machine and start at step 3 to get Windows installed, you can go back later and copy files back to OSX
if you want to try without clean installing OSX, here goes
open boot camp assistant (bca) and choose option 3 ONLY if it reads 'remove/delete' Windows
open disk utility (du) and confirm that your HD now only has 1 single partition ('macintosh HD' unless you've renamed it)
restart machine and do a PRAM reset
open du and repair permissions TWICE
open bca and choose all 3 options (create, download, install)
from here, the process follows the standard boot camp instructions (http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf) but pay attention to step 3 where you do have to manually reformat the boot camp partition
    clean ISOs

  • Iphone 5 not recognized by iTunes on MacBook Pro

Phone is running OS 7.1.1, iTunes 11.2.2 and Macbook Pro is OSX 10.6.8. I have tried removing the extensions and reinstalling iTunes as suggested in a support article, restarting with or without the phone attached, but no luck - the phone doesn't show up in iTunes.
I have a rather large selection of photos/videos on the phone that I need moving to a permanent storage - this is very frustrating.

    Hi there Kim Hansen3,

  • IDVD not updating chapters

Can iDVD take account of changed assets when after importing the project from iMovie you add a chapter stop?
On two projects I needed to add a chapter I didn't include before clicking create iDVD. I added the chapter, saved and quit in both iDVD and iMovie. When I re-open iDVD it gives the dialogue box to update assets but the new chapter never appears?
    Any ideas?
    Robert

When I re-open iDVD it gives the dialogue box to update assets but the new chapter never appears?
If you meant by the scene selection buttons and menus, then iDVD does not update those, the movie itself does updated. If you want these buttons and menus, you need to delete the movie, and re-import it (with iDVD preferences set to create scene menus).

  • IDVD not recognizing slideshow folder

About a month ago I created a slideshow in iDVD which included about 75 photos with transitions and music. I went back yesterday to add a few more photos and when I attempted to click on the hierarchy icon to see the DVD map, the folder appeared briefly and then became blue and indicated that no data appeared in the folder. When I click on media, all my photos appear, but I can't get the program to recognize the original map. After reading one of these postings, I deleted com.apple.iDVD.plist, restarted and repaired permissions with Disk Utility. No luck. I believe this happened because I moved the folder of photos and the .dvdproj file from my laptop to an external drive so as not to lose the file in the event of a crash, but I think this screwed up something with the file. Any suggestions? The slideshow is for a funeral and took me over a week to create. I'd hate to have to re-create it from scratch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You know how in InDesign (or any other layout program) if you move a photo to another drive or another folder you can re-link it if you drive to the location? I suspect this function doesn't exist in iDVD? Tell me more about the file path. What is the .dvdproj file linking to besides the photos (and, by the way, the photos continue to appear in the media section of iDVD. What is the name of the file to which the map links to?
I believe this happened because I moved the folder
of photos and the .dvdproj file from my laptop to an
external drive so as not to lose the file
Yup.... you can't movie things around like that
without creating problems - the file paths are VERY
    important.
You have two choices: (1) try to move everything back
to where it was and (2) recreate the project.
    Sorry.

  • Encore CS4 DLT not recognized when creating master copy

I'm trying to create a css encrypted DLT master in Encore CS4. Entire project was done in CS4 production suite. The problem is encore does not see the DLT drive (Quantum DV-4). It is recognized in device manager and functions properly (Vista Home Premium 64) and yes the driver is current. Is anyone successful in creating DLT masters in CS4 with a similar configuration? Any help would be appreciated.

I never found a solution. However I did find that Vista requires you to run Adobe software in an administrator mode to access certain features. I was unable to use my dolby 5.1 free trial surcode outside of administrator mode. Running admin mode solved that problem. So I never got to test this with the DLT tape drive because I had returned it.
Right-click on the shortcut for the program
    Click on the Advanced button
In the Dialog window that pops up check the box ‘Run As Administrator’

  • Why is iDVD not recognizing my DL disks??

I am using a G5 loaded with iLife 6, FCP, etc. I have a movie which is a little over 2 hours in length and I do not have DVD Studio loaded on this computer; only iDVD. I just purchased a pack of double layered DVD's but am having a problem in iDVD. I went into preferences and changed it to "double layer" however I am still getting the error message that my file is too big:
"Your project exceeds the maximum content duration."
iDVD is looking at and registering 4.172 GB as the max, which is the stat for a single layered disk. How do I get iDVD to recallibrate to a double layer? Thanks.

Did you change the iDVD preferences to switch from 'Best Performance' to 'Best Quality".
With a DL disc, BP gives you 120 minutes while BQ gives you 240 minutes.

  • IPhoto not recognizing keywords created in CS3

I've added keywords to files (both psds and jpegs) I've created in Photoshop and Bridge (CS3). If I look at the file info in Finder, the keywords are there. But when I look at the info of the file in iPhoto, the keywords don't show. Also when I create a Smart Album to match the keywords, nothing shows.
    Any ideas?

You shouldn't reverse engineer answers from your initial hypothesis
Not what I did. I searched on Google and found only references to jpeg and tiff supporting IPTC and none to psd. Have you tried that? I'm not sure that the Finder supports IPTC data, only limited Exif.
Why would photoshop be writing for the benefit of the Apple operating system when it's cross platform?
Because they're nice people? Or because both Oses support basic metadata comments?

  • USB net stick will not work and not recognized by brand new macbook pro lion

Hi and thank you to anyone that can help!
I just bought a new macbook pro with OX 10.7 Lion the other day.  I have an Alcatel x220 USB internet net stick that I used to use with my previous computer with Windows 7.
When I insert the usb stick, the setup driver is supposed to come up, so I can install it on the Macbook.  But nothing comes up, and the macbook does not even recognize that I have inserted the net stick.
I also downloaded the program, and the drivers, and still nothing.  The apple people tried fixing it for a few hours today, and they can't figure it out either.  Same with the cell phone company that provides me with the net stick.  No one has any idea how to fix it.
Basically, anyone have any idea how to get the USB net stick Alcatel x220 to work with a new macbook pro OS Lion 10.7?!?!?!?!?  This is driving me crazy, and I would really appreciate anyones' help!  Thank you!!
    Daniel

thanks I appreciate your response.  Yeah I read something about the 64 bit problem.  I found this link and at the bottom there is a driver update or something to make it work with 64 bit.  But I can't seem to get it to work right, and even could the apple tech people.  This is the link:  http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/products/mobile_broadband/ot-x220.html
Also, do you have any idea which USB sticks there are that are compatible with the 64 bit Lion?
    Thanks again

  • Idvd not recognizing superdrive

Something happened recently, I'm not sure what. Recently itunes didn't recognize the superdrive, and now IDVD doesn't either. Maybe I installed an update that messed up something, I can't recall. I burned a dvd on it a couple of months ago so I know it used to work. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Check under the Apple - About this Mac - and click through until you see details about your hardware. You can see at that level if your Mac recognizes the superdrive.
For general maintenance, I use MacJanitor (free) to trigger the Mac's maintenance scripts and then use Apple Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
You might get better response over in the Hardware forum.

  • My iSight Camera is not recognized by my 2009 MacBook Pro. How do I fix this?

A couple of months ago, my camera was working just fine. Today, I attempted to open Photo Booth, and the camera won't work for anything at all.

shldr2thewheel has already given you the best answer.  Just follow his advice.
    •  If you have not already done so, shut down Mac, restart,
and try again.  If the iSight still does not work, continue.
    • If Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
suggestions do not help you, (are you certain that you
used the correct "reset" procedure?), yours is most likely a
hardware problem that will require a professional fix.
Unless you have a current backup, make one now.
Then use the final "Troubleshooting" suggestion:
"... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."
    • If you want to try one more thing on your own first,
use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then
download and apply the latest Combo Update for
your OS.  Currently, the latest ML Combo is here:
        http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581
    • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
       that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of the camera.

  • Airport express is not recognized by my new macbook pro 10.7 with lion...

Afer spending an hour on the phone with apple support center and not being able to correct this problem... I finally got it working after talking with a friend! So for those who have the same problem, the solution was in the end quite simple! Un plug the APE and plug it back in while pressing the reset button. Then connent the APE to your computor via a usb cable. The computor will then recognise the APE and you will be able to configurate for your liking! It can the be unplugged and placed where you want it to go in the house as the computor will now recognise it! I guess it was just to simple a solution for the help center to think about it! good lick to all!!

While I appreciate you trying to help, I'm not a fan of being talked to like a child. If you want to see what version of iOS X I'm using, look no further than the title of my question (10.7.5, there, I saved you having to scroll up).
Yes I read what you saying IOS and I thought you made a mistake because Mac operating system is called OSX and not IOS.
Now, I can only assume that your next idea is for me to restart my computer and/or try a different cable. Let's pretend I'm not a complete moron and continue from beyond those steps.
Well, my next idea would be figure it out yourself, if you think answering question is below you.

  • 120GB Vertex SSD not recognized in Late '08 Macbook Pro

    Hi there,
I can't seem to get my late '08 macbook pro (MacbookPro5,1, unibody, 2.53ghz) to recognize my new Vertex 120GB. It hangs at the blank light blue screen, or sometimes gets the folder icon with question mark on it.
Oddly enough, if I put the SSD in an external USB/SATA enclosure, it boots right up. Also, if I stick it in my other unibody macbook, it boots up just fine.
So it seems the problem only exists when it's the internal drive of my macbook pro (10.5.6, all software up to date). I've tried resetting the PRAM and resetting the SMC, to no avail.
    About the SSD:
    * The SSD is still firmware 1199, as I haven't upgraded yet - but I don't imagine this is the problem since many others here seem to be running 1199 just fine.
    * I formatted as HFS+ (GUID) and then restored my data onto it using SuperDuper. The fact that it boots in the macbook & over USB indicates that the drive is set up fine.
Any ideas out there are much appreciated!
