IDVD not saving disk image...........why?

Hi there,
I'm using iDVD on a G4 733 / 896 Ram / OS 10.3.9.
I'm using an external Pioneer DVR-109 that is not recognized by iDVD. So i thought i'd save it as disk image and burn that with Toast.
Now i can't save as disk image from iDVD. Why?
Does it has to do with the external Bytecc firewire casing.
Thanks for your help my friends........
Martin

Matrin,
What error are you getting when you try to "save as disk image"? Tell us more about what happens....
Does it has to do with the external Bytecc firewire casing
I doubt it...

    Hallo to everybody,
    it is the first time for me in a community,so I have many questions to make.
    Searching to install the new OS Lion,I've tryed to install the MacOSXUpdCombo but,after downloding the .dmg it isnt possible to install the software.
    the window that appear is:
    Can someone help me to solve this problem?
    Thanks for every suggestions and sorry for my bad language !!

    You've downloaded the Snow Leopard combo update.  If you want to Install Lion on Snow Leopard, buy it in the App store.  If you already have Lion installed and want to upgrade to 10.7.2, run Software Update.

  • IDVD will not burn a DVD - just disk image - why not?

    I did a short iMovie project (just about 6 or 7 minutes of video); used a theme, added background music from my iTunes collection-- OK all fine; exported via "Share" to iDVD (all this is iLife'09 and Leopard 10.5.6 on a MacBook May 2006).
    I did a DISK IMAGE but then also wanted to test to burn a real DVD. That got to to final step then hung- said one minute to go, then ejected the DVD - but nothing was on the DVD.
    Later I used DISK UTILITY to burn the disk image to a DVD- and that DVD played fine on my Mac and even on my 7 year old DVD player.
    OK so my MB DVD burner is working; the iDVD makes a valid Disk Image-- but why can't I go directly from iDVD to a DVD?
    Thanks for any comments here -- I believe there has been a bit of discussion on this, but not sure if others are able to make a DISK IMAGE and then (if then) burn a DVD as I have. But I'm still not able to do this directly from iDVD.

    Hi Beverly, I am using the imovie 09 version with iDVD 09. I didn't do any more editing after sharing the project to iDVD from within imovie. I get no error messages at all, that's the strange thing. It acts like it is encoding fine. But, when you watch the finished product, either a disc image or a burned dvd, it is garbled up from about halfway thru to the end. I even tried to have idvd save the project as a disc image and then used Toast 9 to burn it, and it is the same way, messed up. Just to be sure it wasn't the imovie 09 doing it, I took the same imovie 09 project, put it in Toast 9, and let Toast save it as a disc image, and it was fine. And I burned it with toast and the dvd played fine. I then tried to share the same project again, from imovie 09, to idvd 09, and save to disc image, and or burn it to dvd and again, it messes it up badly. This is a brand new imac bought from the apple store locally. I really can't understand why idvd 09 is this bad? It doesn't make any sense. I've eliminated imovie 09 as the problem. Like I said before, I have a lot of experience using the previous versions of imovie 6, and idvd 6 on a powerbook G4, without any problems? Oh, and I did get the menu sound to work, but not the method listed here. I tried all of those listed, without success. I found that if you keep dragging out the menu sound, and replace it with a new mp3, and drag it out, it finally works. I did this about 6 times. Then, all of a sudden it worked. Makes no sense at all. I never did see the little wave sound thing he talked about. It works now, but the wave isn't there? If there is a way to just remove idvd 09, and replace it with idvd 6.04, I'll do that. Is this possible?

  • Audio is great in iDVD preview, when Disk image is burned it cuts out

    My project works great in iMovie and iDVD in the preview state. When I burn a disk image though, the sound keeps cutting out within the last 7 or so minutes of my video.
    It worked when I burned a dvd a few weeks ago, but since then, I went back and edited a few more pictures to what i had previously had, and shared it in the media browser. It looks great in iDVD. But now the sound is not consistent. It cuts out in the middle of a song.
    Help?

    I went back and edited a few more pictures to what i had previously had, and shared it in the media browser.
    The best advice I can give you is to create a NEW iDVD project. Sometimes iDVD is 'unhappy' when you edit the video in an existing project.

  • Mac osx 10.6 will not recognize disk image of HP driver download

    Wanted to scan from my HP officejet pro 8600 and send to my Mac desktop. Message said that I had to download a driver first, so I did, but now the computer will not recognize the disk imag. I don't know what to do so that the Mac  will recognize the disk and allow me to install the download.

    Hi @dabeck
    I would like to help you install the software for your 8600 onto your Mac. Since the Mac is unable to recognize the disk image file, I would first suggest we repair the disk permissions. Please use the steps below to troubleshoot the issue;
    Repair Disk Permissions
    On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
    Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
    Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
    Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
     Restart the printer. Now you can download and install the printer software and install it. >  Officejet-Pro-8600_v12.23.0.dmg
    Please let me know the outcome of these efforts. I hope to see this resolved quickly for you.
    Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

  • Slice and 'saving for web and devices' not saving all images in selected area

    Ive designed my site in illustrator and now im using slices and save for web and devices.
    When I save a slice as a jpeg or gif it saves the text and but not the background image behind it. I haven't locked the background image and all the content is on the same layer in illustrator so why is it doing this and how can I stop it?
    Thanks
    James

    Thanks for your reply.  Yes, my Photoshop CS5 is updated to 12.1.  I'm running OSX 10.5.8 and have tried viewing in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome with no improved success.
    I have been reading these forums for about 3 hours trying to find the answer to this question but am still at a loss.  I have found one article here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7974006/overlapping-image-in-photoshop-splice-how-to-fl oat-with-css
    which explains using an "absolute" value in CSS to lock images in place.  I'm currently working in Dreamweaver to see if it's a common error in Photoshop when resizing browser but is easily fixed on the CSS side.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

  • IDVD Hanging On Disk Image AND Burning

    I've been having this problem since upgrading to 10.4.7 (I have iDVD 6.02). I can't burn a DVD and I can't save a disk image. iDVD just hangs up and quits or it just hangs and becomes non-responding.
    I restarted and repaired permissions over six times and even tried it running no other applications but iDVD and still have the same issue.
    Help!

    Hi Leigh:
    Did you read the Apple article that Len Goff
    suggested?
    iDVD appears to be unresponsive when encoding Audio
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302988
    It may just take a lot of time to finish. have you
    tried burning overnight?
    Sue
    I set it up Wednesday Night to burn and at 9 am it was still hanging. I force quit iDVD and restarted my Mini and set it up to burn again and when I got home from work it was hung at the Audio encoding again. I repaired permissions and attempted the process again over night and this time the DVD had been ejected but was still blank when I went to play it. I then read the this forum post and trashed the plist, repaired permissions and attempted again and still no luck! I am about to try it again and see what I get when I get home from work!

  • IDVD creating large disk images

    I've recently upgraded to iDVD 6 from 5 to solve a bug. The bug's fixed however I have a new problem. I have about 11 short movies which total about 100 minutes. When looking at the project size, it says 3.2 GB. However, when it burns to a disk image, the image is 5.11 GB, obviously too big for a 4.7 GB disk. I've never seen this problem in previous versions and it's really bugging me. Any ideas what's up?

    They're all in Quicktime movie format. Maybe that has
    something to do with it since I've usually used DV
    stream in the past. However, I added up the length of
    all 11 movies and it comes to 101:30 minutes, so I
    would think it should still work.
    Unless you have used LONG clips in menu drop zones, 101 minutes of content should be OK. Have you used movies in any menu drop zones?
    You may want to delete the iDVD preference file (com.apple.iDVD.plist) which will be recreated when you start iDVD. Then start a new iDVD project.

  • ARD not recognizing disk image

    I used Network Disk Utility to make an image of my powerbook to set up clients. When I try to set the startup disk to the image it always fails. The image does not appear in the list. So I tried to set it to a special volume but to no avail. I have searched the manual and website for the correct procedure. All I find is "set the client's startup disk to [point to the image." How do I do this? I am a new user of ARD and deperately need help.

    First, am I correct in presuming that you have a Mac OS X Server set up with NetBoot running and your image enabled? If not, that's your problem. You can only boot a workstation to a disk image served by NetBoot.
    If you do have this set up, can you successfully boot from the image when you're sitting at a workstation (i.e. not setting it through ARD)?

  • IDVD 5 will not create an image,- why??? help please, i'm gettin' crazy!!!

    hi everybody,
    since 3 days i'm trying to create an image data from an idvd 5.0.1 project. i've choose "save as image" and everything is working fine: all menu's, all imageshows, all video's and audio-files are rendered as well. when it comes at the end to the point "burn" there comes the colored ball and NOTHING happens any more!!! it is a very complex project with 2 videofiles included (one of them is sended directly from imovie with (send item to idvd, the other one is saved as an qt-dv-file from imove and imported to idvd) and 4 image slideshows from iphoto.
    doe's anyone of you have an answer to that problem??? i'm really getting crazy because i'm trying it since friday morning :-(((
    thankful for all answers and greetungs from germany,
    marcus.

    Marcus,
    I had the exact same problem a couple of weeks ago, when trying to create a disc image. Everything rendered, but when it reached the "burn" stage, it just stopped and I had to force quit in order to get out of iDVD. The problem was in how I had "named" my disc image. I had included a slash (/) in its name. I renamed it, taking out the slash and was then able to successfully create a disc image.

  • BUG: Face recognition data not saved to images.

    i have the option to automatically save XMP data into the images activated.
    so all keywords and metadata changes are not only saved to the catalog but also into my DNG and TIFF images.
    now this works fine for everything except the new face recognition data.
    i mean the areas (rectangles) where the faces are.
    i guess the problem is that the images already contain the keywords (names) of the persons in the images.
    what i did was using the rectangles to identify the persons in the images. drawing rectangles around their faces and name them.
    this info about the rectangle positions is NOT automatically stored in the image files. not after hours of letting LR run idle.
    this info is only stored when i manually save (CTRL+S) the images or do something other to the metadata (like adding NEW keywords to it).
    so in short:  just adding the face region data (the rectangles) will not trigger the automatic XMP save function when the name keyword was already asigned as keyword to the image.
    that´s very bad and must considered a bug in my opinion..
    i don´t like to rely on the LR catalog only. it´s unsave even with backups.
    i want that the metadata info is stored in the images.
    also when i give away my images i want that the metadata is in the images.
    that´s why "automatically save XMP" is always active and very important for me.

    I don't have any info but repost your original info at this site.  Supposedly Adobe reads this and it should not get lost in the clutter  I have posted a few bugs there and they were acknowledged but not fixed but Adobe seems to be pretty good at fixing potential data loss bugs/problems which I consider this to be if it is working as you describe.

  • Machine name not saved after image

    Can't seem to see the workstations I imaged in zenworks. I have reimaged
    and renamed some machines and can only see the old name in zenworks and
    not the new name.
    Example
    If the workstation name was NOVELL-1
    and I reimaged it and renamed it NOVELL-ONE
    I can only see the NOVELL-1 in zenworks and can't do a thing to it
    because it does not exist. I can't see the NOVELL-ONE workstation in
    zenworks at all. And if I try to reimage it it never saves the name and
    ask's me to name it again. I'm lost, I thought it saved the name in the
    same place it saves the things like "last image path".....

  • When saving an image, why does Firefox download it again, although it is already downloaded and displayed?

    If you right click an image on a website and choose "save image", it will be downloaded again. It is already in the browser cache though. There are addons which let you pick it from the cache.
    Why doesn't Firefox just save the cached image and instead downloads it again? There seems to be no obvious rationale to do it like that (and lots to use the cached version).

    Thanks you, but that's not an answer to my question.
    I'm not looking for workarounds. I would like to know (preferably from someone at Mozilla) why the browser works this way and if they are going to change it.

  • Spry navigation bar covers flash movie beneath it but not the jpg image, why?

    i have a spry navigation bar with a flash movie underneath,
    and when i hover over the navbar and the submenu pops down it
    covers the flash movie, but it doesn't cover the .jpg image that is
    next to the flash movie. how can i fix this? thanks.

    thanks for the reply Murray, a responder from the flash forum
    gave me the following answer and it worked perfect.>>
    The <object> and/or <embed> HTML elements that
    reference your Flash content accept a number of optional
    parameters. For the <object> element, these parameters are
    supplied via nested <param> elements. Simply add the
    following new <param>:
    <param name="wmode" value="opaque">
    The <embed> parameters are supplied via attributes. For
    the <embed> element, add the following new attribute:
    wmode="opaque"
    That’s it. Your Flash content is now stackable via
    z-index; for example, you may wrap your
    <object>/<embed> pair in a <div> and set the
    <div>’s z-index as you please.
    <div style="position: absolute; z-index=1;">
    <object attributes >
    <embed attributes />
    </object>
    </div>
    If you’re using Dreamweaver, just press the Parameters
    button in the Insert > Media > Flash dialog or in the
    Property inspector when selecting existing Flash content. Type
    “wmode” (without quotes) in the name/parameter column
    and “opaque” (without quotes) in the value column. That
    will handle the above HTML for you, even with the new JavaScript
    embedding available since the 8.0.2 update.
