IDVD Play All

5 chapters from iPhoto slide shows, each with its own music. Like any movie I need to play it from start to finish continuously. After each chapter it goes back to the main menu. How do I Play All? Thank you!

Hi i
Aha this is another discrepanses between assembling a SlideShow in iPhoto
or doing it in iMovie (lot's of other things too).
If You make Your SlideShows in iMovie as one movie with 4 Chapters it would
do as You whish. (One can't start with a Chapter mark - but just movie start
in iMovie)
eg Chapter 3 will then cont. with 4 and go to the end of all.
So You could if they are small enough. Assemble an iDVD with one "Movie
SlideShow incl Chapters" + 5 separate iPhoto shows. Then it would be very
complete.
(This that iMovie cont. from Chapter to end is a frequent asked question and
can't be altered else than faked with small individual movies for each Chapter)

  • How do I get a "PLAY ALL" button on the main screen for iDVD?

I spent a lot of time creating a DVD with pictures and music, and the main screen when I play the DVD shows all of the different scenes, but when I click on one of the scenes, it won't continue to the next one. I have to individually plan every scene in order to watch the whole DVD, rather than just clicking on the first scene and letting it play through. How do I make it so that I can either create another button that will play the whole DVD through or make it so that it continues to the next scene after the previous one is finished??

You can't create a 'play all' button with iDVD. All your separate scenes are separate movies as far as iDVD is concerned. You need to assemble all you separate scenes into one movie in iMovie and then insert chapter markers if you want separate entry points.
Apple's pro DVDSP does let you link movies to obtain a play all function.

  • In scene selection mode, can you make iDVD return to the scene selection menu after playing that scene without continuing to play all the other scenes?

After selecting one scene from the scene selection menu, the following scenes play automatically, as if it were in "play movie" mode. Is there a way to stop that behavior and have the DVD return to the scene selection menu after playing just the selected scene?

    OK
So what You want is a "Play All" button resp. a "Play one Chapter at a time" one.
    Then
BAD News - There are Non ! in iDVD
GOOD News - it can in part be faked.

    1. There are NO - Play All - button in any version of iDVD
    2. It can be faked in several ways
    • Easiest and most fault proof way is to make a doublet movie containing All and with
Chapters set to match. It will take up x2 space but is easy to understand and produce.
Cons: Tried this in iMovie’11 by Exporting out each part as a full Quality QT.mov then Importing back into new events and putting these into a new project (Play All project). Resulting DVD had Audio that was OK (as parts) - BUT the picture was very bad and standing photo were cut of in height. So the Play All movie has to be created from same material and exactly in the same way as the individual parts + then Chapters has to be set to match.
    • It's said that one can put all movies into a Photo/SlideShow and this will also
give the function of a Play All button - Tested - and ONE HAS TO un-cheque - Scale pictures to TV-Safe area else it will be a black frame all around and a small picture !

You might be able to get close to what you want by using a slideshow in iDVD. (It's not widely known, but you can put videos in a slideshow.) If you set the slide duration to manual, playback will pause after each movie/slide, and you can continue with the 'next' button.
    3. Using another program to do this e.g.. Roxio Toast™ where there is a Play All button option.
    Summary
    a. Making a Play All movie with same care as the individual Part movies - gives a very Good Result
    b. Using Roxio Toast™ - also an usable way to go

  • Playing movies sequentially or "Play All" function in iDVD

I have several 5-minute movies that I'll be burning to DVD. It's easy enough to have a button for each movie on the main menu screen, but is there a way to add a button to play all the movies on after the other?
I realize I could copy each movie into one big iMovie and use chapter marks at the start of each "sub-movie", but that's a lot of copying & pasting and opening & closing (I'm using iMovie 5). So if there's an easier way to do it in iDVD, then I'd prefer to take that route

  • IDVD Main Menu Play All Button?

Here is my quandary. After completing my movies in imovie I export them by saving each one as a QT movie file to import into iDVD at a later time when I have finished all of the segments I want on a specific DVD. I am able to import them into iDVD and arrange and name my menu buttons for each corresponding movie perfectly. However I would like to be able to have a button that plays all of my movies in a row instead of having to return to the main menu after each one is finished if I want to watch the whole DVD. Is there a way to do this with individual QT movies, or am I stuck with creating one large movie and then segmenting it into chapters and assigning buttons to each chapter? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

iDVD does not have the ability to link several separate movies together so you can 'play all'.
The only way in iDVD to 'play all' is to create one movie in iMOVE that contains all the different movies.
DVD Studio Pro (part of Final Cut Studio) does offer this feature.

  • Play All option

I've been making music videos of my granddaughter's softball team. Each video is a separate iMovie project running three and a half to five minutes, depending on the song I use. I export each video as a QT movie at full quality, then bring these into iDVD so the finished DVD will have three or four different videos on it.
I did this earlier this year for her basketball team, and each video shows up on the menu screen as a selection that can be played. I wanted to add a "Play All" option like you see on many commercial DVDs, so all the videos can be watched in sequence without returning to the menu screen, however I could see no way to do this. You have to select one of the videos, it plays then returns you to the main menu when it finishes.
Is it possible to have a Play All option when bringing multiple QT movies into iDVD? I've got version 3 of iDVD. If it doesn't work in that version, does anyone know if a newer version allows this?

In iMovie, sequence what have been your separate iMovie projects into a single, compiled iMovie project. You can add chapter markers at the beginning of each segment.
When you bring the single, compiled project into iDVD you can have the chapter markers automatically listed (see Preferences) on menus as scene/segment selection options. Or you can choose not to list the chapter markers as scenes and still have the capacity to fast-forward on the tv or monitor remote to move from segment to segment.
Given that you have enough space on the DVD, then, you'll have one compiled movie and also separate movies for each segment. I personally like to access the segments as separate movies (as you've already arranged) rather than as scenes.
I'm speaking from my experience with iDVD 4--hoping you have chapter markers in iDVD3!

  • How to play all?

I'm trying to make a dvd with two movies and I was wondering how would I be able to make the dvd play all the contents at once rather than going back to the main menu after every movie.

    Hello, itsaboutmomo,
    Welcome to the discussions!
You can put both of your movies into one iMovie, and put that into iDVD to have them play as one long movie.
If you use iMovie 6 you can put a chapter marker at the beginning of the second movie. Then you will have the iDVD options to choose either 'Play Movie' to see the two movies consecutively, or 'Scene Selection' which will take you to a submenu where you can choose to view either movie by itself.
Or, you can put the three movies (the long one with both movies as above, and the two original ones) into iDVD and place them on the main menu so that the viewer has the three options at the beginnning. You may have to do Copy/Paste if iDVD places the short movies on another submenu, but you can do that to get them all appearing on the main menu. If you wish to do this and need more help, post back.

  • How to play all selections?

    iLive 05 Suite
We have a school project that has 18 small iMovie segments. I have figured out how to use mapping, folders and subfolders so I can group and arrange these student masterpieces using iDVD.
The final piece of the puzzle is: Is there any way I can configure iDVD so the resulting DVD will have an option to play through all the 18 mini movies or can the user only select one at a time to view?
Remember, these are 18 individual iMovies that I am bringing into iDVD and NOT one iMovie with 18 chapter markers.
    Thanks for any help,
    Sue

    Hi Suzanne
No iDVD can't do that easily but if by any chance the 18 movies together is
less than 60 min then You can import them into a new iMovie project and
make one 18 chapter movie as You say and add this to the 18 individual ones
    that you already have.
To make a DVD with a play all movie and chapters that ends in the iDVD
start menu You have to do a double set. I think that this is possible in
    DVD-Studio pro.

  • Is there a "play-all" type feature?

Hi...I'm making my first DVD with iDVD and I was wondering if there is a way to have a "play-all" option. Basically, I have a bunch of small video clips in a sub-menu that I would like to have the option of viewing individually or all in a continuous mode, similar to what you would see on a movie's special features.
I have searched and know that you can "loop" videos together, but it looks like if you do this, then you don't have the option of playing them individually. Is there a way to create an optional "play all" feature?
Any info would be great. Thanks!

Not as you are describing, but you can do a work around. Move your clips into imovie and create a continous movie.During the process add in chapter markers between your clips. Then share the project to idvd. You will get a play movie (to play the entire movie and a scene selection menu that will have your individual movies in it. You can then rename the play movie and scene selection buttons to whatever you want. Or, you can click on folder icon at the bottom of the screen and move the clips around.

  • Is there a 'Play All' option for DVD menu?

    Hi,
I was hoping someone can possibly help here... I have created a DVD menu in iDVD with 8 separate movie items each with their own button (with underlined feature), but with no sub menus or additional pages.
Incidentally, these items are home movies, transfered from old Hi8 tapes, edited in iMovie then added to iDVD.
The 8 items have all successfully loaded to the iDVD menu and will play when each item is selected (in test mode).
However, I was hoping to also add a 'Play All' button so that the whole DVD content can be played as one continuous piece if required, rather than being limited to being able to play only individual items at a time and then having to return to the menu page in order to select the next item.
Please can anyone offer any help here? I'm very new to Macs/iDVD etc so simple, basic guidance would be much appreciated!!!
    Many thanks,
    Robin-UK

    Hi Robin
Welcome to apple discussions. I use Toast (personal choice only) in this situation since it has a play all check box. But then you don't get the fancy menus.
There is no such check box within iDvd for selecting play all but you can set up iDvd's preferences to address scene selection menus when a movie/s is added. And here's how you do that:
A second option might involve adding the 8 separate movies to the slideshow feature within iDvd for continuous play. And yes you can add photos as well as movies to idvd's slideshow feature with a number of added benefits which I won't go into here. But if you want more info on this procedure just look at a few of Old Toad's prior posts / replies on this iDvd forum.

  • Play All Videos?

    Hi,
Is there some way to have all the videos play in order?
For example I have about 10 videos imported into iDVD
that I'd like to have setup so that if you click
the first one it would play thru to the next ones
without going back to the menu.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,

  • Play All Button - (I already searched the historical posts)

    Hello group,
Yes, I have searched high and low in this forum and everywhere else for the answer to my question.
I'm using iDVD 08. I have made a DVD with about 30 home video clips. I want to create a "Play All" button so that instead of navigating individually to each clip, they can click the "Play All" button and have each clip play in sequence.

You can import all of your movies into iMovie HD6. Add music, effects, etc, as desired. Add a chapter marker to the beginning of each clip. Once the project is finished in iMovie, close the application and open iDVD. Select your theme and import your iMovie project. You will then see in the main window that you have a choice to "play movie", which will play from start to finish, or "scene selection", which will allow you to choose which part you wish to view.
If you do not have it, iMovie HD6 is available as a free download. Use this link.

    I hope this helps.
